    Coming to the conclusion that less is more on bikes these days. 120-130bhp is enough for the road these days with increased torque figures on bikes these days. Beautiful looking bike though 👍 and of course an excellent video as ever Dan

      Agreed. I've got a 2018 Aprilia Tuono and it's just way to fast for the road. Way to many ponies.
      Alternatively I've got an Aprillia RSV Mille which kicks out around 120/130 at the back wheel. Much much more fun than the Tuono.

      honestly even 130hp is too much, i took the rs street triple out and that thing catapults you to 90-100, so easy to break the speed limit on these bikes, youve really gotta have restraint or its too easy to lose your license, even more so with speed cameras and average speed cameras going up everywhere

    • @mooncat.787

      @@BodybuildingSteve Try the Tuonos launch control. Select first gear, dump the clutch, hold on for dear life and select second gear when you hit 100mph.
      I kid you not !

    One of the guys in our bike group just got a V4S last week, a 2020 one with the full akra and the marchesini wheels it looks and sounds fantastic. I've had a little shot on it and honestly it is incredible but just bonkers for road riding, barely even think about opening the throttle and you're triple digits 😅 the way it just goes savage over 9/10k is addicting and probably going to get you in serious trouble 😅 the handling and electronics though really are quite something else, would really like a shot on the V2 version

  • @brandonjoseph3422
    @brandonjoseph3422 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I had this bike on rent for a week. It’s crazy fast. I look at it more as a collectors bike like the h2. In the real world, it’s just look I’m the big daddy bike. No mere mortal can use these bikes to their full capacity either on the road or track.

  • @IanTed
    @IanTed ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I ride a Multi V2S with a mere 113bhp, it’s still no slouch with a stonking mid range, first Ducati after years of other makes but I’d have another. They are a making some great bikes that make you feel special and they are not fragile like they used to be…

  • @brianglendenning1632
    @brianglendenning1632 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I test ride one of these a few weeks ago, as well as a V2. Preferred the V4 by a significant margin. The V4 just felt more complete. Main reason I would consider trading my well used S1000R on a V4 - the soundtrack. The difference in performance between the S1000R and the V4 is almost irrelevant, the V4 is far better looking to these old eyes, and considering the S1000 probably had the bees knees in electronics when I wheeled it out of the dealer all those years ago the electronics on the Ducati are impressive and the tricky e-suspenders are pretty impressive on quick broken country roads. Great bike.

    I was recently between the V4S and a BMW S1000R. I absolutely loved the V4S (no such thing as too much power lol) but my closest dealer is 2 hours away, while BMW is local, which ended up being the tie breaker (though I ultimately see one of these in my garage in the next couple years). The V4S is a truly amazing machine. I will say I’ve absolutely uncorked my S1000R and am extremely happy with it. Good review!

But the Akrapovic system on the Ducati is just amazing and not too loud. I mean its loud but not too much 😁

    Love my recently purchased 2017 939 Supersport, Ducati should make a Supersport with this engine. even my sv650 is too much for the road on most situations. 150hp plus bikes are a fetish and a lot more than most riders can use on almost any situation. Sure you can do 250kmh on some highways but at least in my country with a possibility of going to jail and worst, kill yourself. Also, more than a minute at over 160kmh on a naked bike is painful....When honda created the 48hp nc700 motor, it was based on a large scale study where it was proven 90% of riders ride under 6000rpm 90%of time. Also, on a long trip with bikes of different powers, weights and displacements they concluded that even the heaviest bike (320kg) used around 30hp on average with a peak twice of 85hp on a 2000km trip...

      Agreed, I have a trident 660 and I really don’t need any more. Love the shorter gearing too, hitting 100kmh in 1st gear on a bike like the Ducati isn’t even fun compared to smacking up the gears and revving a bike out. Obviously this bike is fun as anything but as a daily, maybe not lol

      At last, a common sense comment from someone. 200+ hp for the road? Brilliant engineering, but aimed at big wallets with little dicks. I concur with the comment on tha SV. Having just run-in my daughter's SV 650, the power available up to only 6000rpm is ample for solo and the peak is yet to come at 8500.

    If you dive into the settings you can keep the suspension active, but refine all of the parameters.
    For example, if you like the road setting but feel it dives too much on the brakes, just tweak the front brake support setting. It's so configurable you'd be hard pushed to not get the bike suited to exactly how you like it 👍

It's lovely to have that power up to 50mph on most roads, and 70mph on motorways but you are using 30% of the bike's potential and not much of the fun top end, except maybe in second gear!

The Ducatis front sprocket clip broke at the end of the skyfall road, the chain gouged the swing arm, a run to ducati glasgow to pick a part up, fixed. went to the isle of skye, a bolt dropped out of the stand, last day there the key snapped in the seat release. recovery took 77 hrs to get him home. on the upside the yamaha and triumph toured loch ness and had an incredible time. motto of the story ...italia pulchra sed vitiosum.

    It's a BS argument. Power is not just about hitting top speed. You need power everywhere. From a stop, changing lanes, pulling out of a corner... Unless of course you are just riding from your house to a coffee shop, a scooter will do you just fine. The V2, while cheaper and down on power, doesn't compare to the V4. It feels like half the bike.
    What matters is how you as a rider, uses that available power. And with the suite of modern electronics and engine management on these bikes today, it opens up a larger group of riders to handle these bikes.
