My dad used this art to make "sale" signs for all the grocery stores in our area!! He was such a master at his craft... and he did this on weekends. During the week, he was a master of house painting interior and exterior where he had to burn the lead paint off the siding (oh those toxic fumes!)!! And he taught me all my wallpaper hanging skills too! His clients were the "rich & famous"!! Rip dad... and thanks to this post for bringing up all the memories. ❤
I really like your comment! Why is it that not that many people liked it, and the painter guy you were complimenting didn't like it either? SCREW THAT LOSER!
My dad owned a car lot when I was a little girl, and I remember him painting the windshields and I would watch in such amazement, and sometimes hed even let me try. He passed away when I was 9yo. I appreciate you giving me a memory of my father, one that I havent thought of in about 25 years, and by you doing this it unlocked it for me so thank you 😊
I am a stage musician for festivals playing 4 instruments simultaneously and I still make all of my signage by hand when most other folks have moved on to just having them printed. I dunno though I just think it’s fun and a nice way to pass the time since we don’t have internet or phones out there. It’s satisfying! Being able to trust your hand and your tools is a nice feeling.
When i was a kid, my dad would take me to work with him on the weekends. He used to be a Dr Pepper deliveryman in the 80s and 90s. He would make promotion signs for supermarkets and convenient stores with these kind of letters.
My family owned a supermarket in Louisiana for 49 years. I remember marveling as a kid at how good the beverage delivery guys were with markers when they made promotional signs. 😎
My dad was a commercial artist, designed many well known packages in groceries stores ..Mrs Allison's cookies, jolly rancher candy, Pringles mustache man, etc...never bragged on it, just a job to him.
I worked at a car dealership for a few years and when I saw this for the first time I was jealous I can't even spell my own name this nice and effortlessly 😂. They are like the Bob Ross of the used cars.
My dad painted signs. He was a true craftsman, with great artistic skills. I learned a lot from him. He's now long gone, but I think about him every day. He'd appreciate this. Miss you Dad.
My dad is a pinstriper in the automotive industry. Its cool to see you guys have sort of the same pallet set up and the way you work . Cool to see the diffrent trades and how they do it.
@paulapalais I was just saying that I appreciate his skill because today kids can't write anything beyond their names. I've been a calligrapher for 40 years. Watch for my channel in the future doing artwork and calligraphy. Thanks for your comments.
I've painted movie theater windows in the past, (images and logos) and it was the most relaxing job I think I ever had. You have to concentrate so totally, yet be loose while doing it. Good times! He's definitely in "the zone".
My dad did sign work. This made me cry. I miss my dad. Tell the people. I CAN HEAR MY MIND PLAY A SONG. Its on the paper its on the walls now she knows god spoke from all around- SIGNS ARE OUR HISTORY. PROPER MARKETING AND EFFORT. 10/10
My uncle, from the WW2 generation, had this talent also. He'd address Christmas cards to us in fancy calligraphy. It's a beautiful art form. Let's keep it from dying out. Maybe with the return of teaching cursive in schools more will try it.
