Hey man...great video. Very complete...thanks for putting it together. I've been pretty back and forth with my Looper X since delivery. But i did want to point out something i found. If you go into audio routing/track, you can change the "Live" option from Auto to On for each track. Doing so applies that track's effects to the input regardless of track selection. Perfect for consistent live effects based on input. Hope that helps, and thanks again for the content!!!
Chris-- great information! ... but, consider a better microphone for your voice. Perhaps a lavalier for 'close micing'? My guess is you're using the camera's microphone which captures the ambient sound (and echo!) of whatever room you are in. This simple fix can give your productions a more professional sound. Peace & good luck! 😎🎤👍
Finally, someone has voiced some measure of criticism for this ridiculously priced item. Every other TH-camr seems to be giving it the benefit of the doubt, which would be fine if they weren't charging triple the price of better, more customisable loopers.
Thanks! Yeah it’s very expensive for its limited customization and capabilities. I love the hardware but the software needs a lot of fixes. I’m not very hopeful since customer support basically told me it is what it is…
@@fivefingerfullprice3403that would be Loopy Pro. It‘s an app programmed by someone that hated the restrictions of hardware loopers - like demonstrated here by a professional. With Loopy you design your own user interface. You can have as many tracks as you need. You can have as many control profiles as you need. You can use a sequencer that lets you draw in the structure of a song before recording the loops! Once you‘ve built your loops, the tap dancing is over and you can concentrate on your music and your audience. It‘s what artists like Elise Trouw or Markus K do. But the best thing about Loopy is, is that you can‘t just use any MIDI hardware you prefer, but you can also insert any high quality effect for instruments and vocals anywhere (inputs and outputs), and you can use and control software drum machines, virtual instruments, vocal harmonizers and even control light shows. And if you think you need a looper like the Sheeran X - you can just download a template for Loopy made by a user. All for a third of the price but with the same or even better functionality. 💪😎🎸
@@michaelvarney. It's my first time on this channel so thanks for the info. I settled on the Aeros Loop Studio Gold after looking at a bunch of reviews.
I feel like the main issue loopers are having with this is it’s “Ed’s” work flow. If you’ve played with a regular looper for years this will be completely foreign to you. Also 1 massive thing no one is talking about this being a game changer with is it’s ability to to full route individual tracks and inputs out to a daw for mixing by either FOH or your self for recording. Ed’s been playing with this work flow to stadiums for the better part of the last decade With decent Success. The key words I’ve heard from people having issues is “I’m not used to it” FYI I have this pedal, I had and rc300 before it for 8 years, and an rc30 before that. I love the work flow, I think it pushed me to be way more creative rather then just relaying in the looper to carry a lot of the song. It’s all going to come down to what you’re “used” to. But as people have said, firmware will be updated and you’ll be able to customise the pedals to do anything you like. I’m actually glad to see someone do a really decent in-depth review from their personal usage 🙌
I agree the workflow can be creative in the multi mode. But where that workflow falls apart is band mode. That many button presses to do things other loopers can do with ease is quite frustrating. I like Ed’s songs but like I said in the video they repeat the same chord progression and don’t change so the workflow is cool for that. But if you want to play different choruses or bridges you’ve got to tap dance your way through it. My thing is don’t force his workflow on us, give us the choice to use it or something else depending on the logistics of the song. I’m glad you like yours and are getting creative ideas from it, I definitely have had fun using it too!
@@chrisevesandthenewnormal5222 yea but this is a performance looper, this pedal wasnt designed around band mode. band mode is included mostly for people who want to pre record or put backing tracks into a mini session and then control it with the pedal, not to build the loop live. you can record a verse and a chorus in sync mode on different tracks to achieve the same thing you were trying to do in band mode. as for too many button pushes - that is quite literally ed's workflow. again its a performance looper and in my opinion clicking buttons with your feet while playing and singing enhances the performance and is enjoyable to watch live. if you dont want to sit down and practice that, that is perfectly fine, but if you were expecting him to release a pedal that isnt what he has been using then that doesnt make sense. the rc300/600 is there for you if you want minimal foot presses but dont say the pedal is bad for a skill issue not a pedal issue.
@@pilotbennyto each their own I just wanted to get the information out there because there’s literally nothing in the manual that tells you how the band mode workflow is. I can do the tap dance just fine but do I want to?? I can wash my clothes on a washboard too but I’d rather use a washing machine. I agree Ed’s method is cool but for $1300 give us the features every other looper has as well and we can choose what to do. The issue isn’t building a loop in band mode, that’s easy enough. The issue is then triggering them and muting at times. Backing tracks would be just as complicated. If it’s working for you then that’s great!!
@@chrisevesandthenewnormal5222 i def agree with you on the arming, it would be sick to click a button and have all the tracks arm. its just a different style of looping all together, 1300 is steep and its more like 1400 after taxes - also my comment might have come off as being an asshole which i am not trying to be. out of the other loopers i know who have gotten this pedal not a single one of them has even touched band mode xD
@@pilotbenny no worries! Yeah it’s a different style. There’s a lot I like about it for sure. I just wanted to show how it actually works so people could decide before they bought it since there’s no description in the manual.

Nailed it about Band Mode. I need one press to move to the chorus or back to verse like a Boomerang. Been using Boomerang 3 for a long time and it’s just so easy to work that way. Hopefully they’ll update this soon!
I love Ed Sheeran and this works for him. The tap dancing on the looper is part of his "stick" also. I don't want to be doing that . I want to concentrate on playing /singing not looking at the looper tapping a few times to get to where I need to be in the song. That will throw me off. Maybe the Sheeran + might work for me. What I like about these loopers are the pedals . If the RC 500 had them (or the others) would be great ! The little silver buttons suck , especially if they "click" also ! ! ! 🎸🎸🎸
Looking at the RC600 and I looked at this one as well as the actual headrush. As you mentioned "workflow" varies from 1 performer to another. I went from a single track Jamman and went right to the RC300. I was lost for 6 months in the woodshed trying to really get it down and I still only scratched the surface. I was so used to arranging live with 1 track I had to get used to more than 1 track. It's still an issue for me at times when I am trying to "move the show along". Nothing like taking 3 minutes to set up a 3 minute song. I think I've ruled this one out based on your tutorial... Thanks Chris!
Yeah the workflow is really important. Glad this helped, that was the whole idea to show how the workflow actually was because I couldn’t find a video that showed it
I was using Headrush Looperboard on my gigs for some 2 years but it broke down completely. Switches were glitchy from the very start btw. Thanks to your review I know that this new-ish Headrush product won’t work for what I do. Weight of it is also a killer if you also use single pedals and many instruments on the stage. Thanks

Thank you for your quick response and honest review; it's the best I've found. I'm considering buying it, although in my case, the strategy is to build from scratch on stage the part that will serve as a base for the solo: percussion, bass, and rhythm guitar, while the rest of the song's parts are pre-recorded. In general, the audience doesn't notice that there are pre-recorded parts, and it gives the flexibility of not having to do everything from scratch. Best regards.
Quite agree on these issues you have highlighted here...great points that id prefer personally also, ill wait till they update this fab machine..before I make purchase
Really excellent, honest review and demo. I've had the looper for just one day, and I marvel at the technology that went into this. I think that just spending more time with the Looper X will unleash some very cool features. For the price, I'm a bit annoyed that they did not include a travel case.
Thanks , what would any of you guys recommend for someone that likes rock jamming with imported loops and looping guitar? I've got my eyes on the rc500
As far as you wanting certain effects on assigned inputs…. What if you are just playing one guitar with one pickup, and on one song, you want the octave/bass effect, but then you want to add some delay and reverb for another section of that song…. Would you need to unplug the guitar and move it to the input that has that effect assigned to it?
I died live on stage when I recognized, that the effects applied on all the inputs. So not only my voice had this eq oder reverb but also my piano - and it took some time and shitty sounding songs, to figure out the weird logic: there is no efffects per input mixer kind of section.. the effects can only be set up by TRACK. So all the instruments you play on this track - have this effect. The only way to work around this (on the actual firmware) is, to root the inputs dryly around the fixed-by-track-effects. Then a particular input stays at least clean. But there is no chance, to give each input an own effect within one track. So that’s unlogical crap and I am really disappointed, because updates seem to last extremely long. Sorry guys - my enthusiasm is way down low meanwhile
@@jurasnacks3668 yeah it’s a real bummer. All the effects in it and I still have to use my quad cortex for guitar and a boss pedal bit vocal harmonies. Not “all in one” as of right now
Thanks for the video , seems like a nightmare id never be able to use this for my shows. What looper do you usually use if I may ask . ? I'm on the RC600 , has some quirks but a work horse
Great info - why not use a software setup? I ask because you clearly have looked into the depths of these pedals. I've felt software is the obvious solution. I'm on a learning curve w DAWs and so thats why i dont have person experience to share... And maybe thats why others avoid software as well? Too much learning and moving pieces? But seems it should be worth it so that you can fully customize workflows and have nearly unlimited custom effects etc. I'd really apreciate your or others thoughts on this. Thanks again for the tutorial here.
Thank you for making this video! :) Nice looping!! I would really like to see another review after 1 year :) Haha It looks like going from PC to MAC :D
Really enjoyed the video, did you try Loopy Pro with an external midi controller like Nektar pacer or Behringer? You basically build your own looper from drag and drop and midi buttons on your iPhone or iPad. I decided to go that route rather than buying the Sheeran looper after having used the headrest Looperboard before.
Yeah I’ve been using loopy pro for over a year. Problem is it has just crashed in the middle of a song, disconnected from the audio interface for no reason, died in the heat of an outdoor show (iPad problem), sometimes forgets its midi controller assignments, and sometimes the plug ins just don’t load.
Wanted to try some kind of looper for a while now , however.......not one is (in MY opinion) suited for live gigs. Isn't there a looper that's just simple and straight forward without a learning curve to each one, double tapping which throws your off, ....tap dancing all over the board and / or programing songs. Any pedal should be a HELPER ........not a HINDERENCE. I'm thinking it's just probably easier to just concentrate on singing /playing well, getting better at performing a live show and screw these pedals . A Looper should just start loop one. Over dub that or go to a second channel for bridge, and so on. Everything should sink up automatically, should be able to start/stop each channel as needed, Second part of the looper should have the same layout for voice. Guitar and Voice sections of the looper should have separate volume level adjustments with separate effects (actually , just a good usable reverb for voice and guitar is all you need) . Is it true that you can not adjust the volume levels on the loops with the Sheeran loopers ??? You should NOT have to buy additional gear ( additional start/stop pedals, power supply , etc) to get ANY pedal to work the way it should for live gigs. These pedals are supposed to make life easier for us........... (end of rant) 🎸
Yeah it’s hard to find the right one. For straight up looping I suggest the boomerang 3 but it doesn’t have a mic input or effects so you need a mixer and an effects unit
I have the boomerang and it have had 6 other loopers. The Boomerang with a sidecar is here it is at. I have some stuff uploaded with my foot work on the looper w/camera. The big thing that bothers me is there is no storage in the boomerang unless you run into a DAW.
I am having a blast with it in my studio, just creating and jamming. The hardware is amazing, the pedals and the work flow work well enough in sync mode. But, yeah, I'm not going live with this thing. To many issues at the moment. I have had to back track and erase tracks that don't line up because they don't line up with the outlined work flow. Headrush needs to get an update out and quick! This pedal is just to expensive to be released with so many issues and so little features/options.
I think it could be incredible, the foot switches feel so good, are so responsive and so damn big you can't miss them. Hardware wise it's perfect. BUT... this IS the exact same looperboard Headrush JUST abandoned; With a hardware upgrade and a celebrity endorsement. I genuinely hope they will follow through with product support and updates or I will never be buying from that company ever again.
@@CSProduction12 agreed! If I’m not mistaken the looper board had features this one is missing. You’d think they could just use the technology they already have to update this. But yeah the hardware is great!
For me , i prefer the Boomerang III and the Sidecar. As a solo guitarist, i dont care about any band modes or any of that... i ALWAYS create live and on the spot amd never want or use any pre recorded loops. Im also not trying to use this and then do individual track post editing.... I just think it got WAYYYYY too many features that alot of people wont use.. live loopers.. nah. I have 4 tracks and all the fade, stop all.. start one.. different workflow modes.. etc.. for about $600.
I would change my ehx95000 to X the next day if: - easy, synchronized jump between different loops/Patterns/Banks - possibility to change loops/pattern live, I have 99 of them in ehx95000. I understand, there is always something for something. Different loop/track lengths for lack of synchronization. Very close Ed, very close to hitting the bullseye but too far for me
Great video. Very comprehensive. Unfortunately your guitar was so out of tune that it was difficult to listen to. I think the Looper X has a tuner. Please double check your tuning for your videos. They are otherwise extremely good!

wow yeah this is very manual and theres a lot of presses to make it suit your workflow. It's still a neat peice of equipment but..I can't help but feel like it needs a bit more customization done for it to be worth that price
that's the main issue with this pedal there no start and stop for each track the way ed uses it we makes one beat loops so that it doesn't matter if he has stops because when he pauses the track and then resets the the song all the loops a one bar loops so it make it reset easy!!! but if the loop is longer and you can't stop individual tracks that's a problem that boss has the answer to with individual stop on each track!!!
@@chrisevesandthenewnormal5222 the good news is that it;s basically a tablet/pc in a foot controller so should be easy for firmware updates. depends on if they listen to customers requests... how was the previous headrush looper supported before they klilled it as aproduct?
Great video. Shots from the side of your talking to the camera break you connection with the presumed audience. Why would you choose to do that? Where does that come from?
Main issue that no one is talking about. 100% sucks your guitar tone if playing electric guitar. Built and designed for acoustic guitar. Really bummed. I just release a quick initial video showing the sound quality issue.
auto record!!!!!!!!! its the one thins boss rc has over all loopers if there no signal no record but track is armed ready to go then when signal comes in recording starts!!!!! that's what's missing here!!!!!

LOVE the Aussie made Cole Clark.. I'm a Maton guy, but much love and respect!
how do this compair to Boss RC-600 in your opinion?
Glad I went with the RC 600. This looks way better for playing live, less clutter but to be honest I'd be scared to use either one on a stage.
I agree with all your suggestions for an update to add more flexibility!
Thanks glad to hear others agree! Hope an update comes soon!
Nevermind, you mentioned Loopy in the video, just now got to that bit. But I agree, there is much more options with other loopers.
Glad you’re having fun with it! But yes an update is needed very soon!
I have the boss rc600 and it's hands down a better looper, and a 3rd of the price. Very good and informative review, thanks 😊
Thanks!
Chris, what looper do you use then? thanks in advance, Mike
I have been using loopy pro with my iPad, and before that I used the boomerang 3!
What do you think about rc 600. I am confused about which one should I buy - looper x or rc 600? Is sheeran looper x better than rc 600?
I've owned the RC-600. It's no where as intuitive as far as the User Interface is concerned.
Neither 😮save your money
I would change my ehx95000 to X the next day if:
- easy, synchronized jump between different loops/Patterns/Banks
- possibility to change loops/pattern live, I have 99 of them in ehx95000.
I understand, there is always something for something. Different loop/track lengths for lack of synchronization.
Very close Ed, very close to hitting the bullseye but too far for me
Need the update or I am returning looper x which I don’t want to do! C’mon Headrush and Ed’s team. Nice unit that needs these updates yesterday!
Agree!
Thank you for this video.
Thanks for watching!
The best looper is loopy pro. It runs on an iPhone. Control it with a midi pedal.
Excellent review!😊
Thank You!
Great video. Very comprehensive. Unfortunately your guitar was so out of tune that it was difficult to listen to. I think the Looper X has a tuner. Please double check your tuning for your videos. They are otherwise extremely good!
the price is insane to i hope they don't forget about there flag ship looper and add auto record to that to ahah but the price and EDS got a funky way he likes to do things coz he's had to coz there was no other loopers out there doing this all tracks have and output thing 10 years ago so now he developed a funky tap dance style that works for him but seem a little crazy im pretty sure the Chewy has more of a boss feel like a bunch joined together when the first one i used to look at it a lot the chew 1 looked like 4 rc 30 put together!!!! with stops and start for each track!!!! one thing i did notice was that he did ask the guy from headrush if they were happy with it because it defiantly not the same size as the chewy monster!!!!!
Which looper works for you? How is rc 600?
I like the workflow of the boomerang 3 but I usually use loopy pro on an iPad. Loopy pro can literally be configured to do anything you want.
wow yeah this is very manual and theres a lot of presses to make it suit your workflow. It's still a neat peice of equipment but..I can't help but feel like it needs a bit more customization done for it to be worth that price
Yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking
Aeros Loop Studio still unbeatable..
Is it workable in a live setting, or just designed primarily for studio work?
that's the main issue with this pedal there no start and stop for each track the way ed uses it we makes one beat loops so that it doesn't matter if he has stops because when he pauses the track and then resets the the song all the loops a one bar loops so it make it reset easy!!! but if the loop is longer and you can't stop individual tracks that's a problem that boss has the answer to with individual stop on each track!!!
if you are an ed sheeran cover artist this is perfect....
if not just get a Boss RC-600
That’s kinda where it’s at until hopefully there’s an update
@@chrisevesandthenewnormal5222 the good news is that it;s basically a tablet/pc in a foot controller so should be easy for firmware updates. depends on if they listen to customers requests... how was the previous headrush looper supported before they klilled it as aproduct?
Great video. Shots from the side of your talking to the camera break you connection with the presumed audience. Why would you choose to do that? Where does that come from?
Eh I’m new to this. Work in progress thanks for the constructive criticism
Main issue that no one is talking about. 100% sucks your guitar tone if playing electric guitar. Built and designed for acoustic guitar. Really bummed. I just release a quick initial video showing the sound quality issue.
Dang that’s a bummer
Not true, there are plenty of electric guitar presets.
Bcos Everything Ed.... is carried by others, set up by others n he just get on with it. Bus Us.... we need to do all.
No bro you just need to change it to song mode or the other one multi...
You should probably consider investing in a mic.
As is at this point in time its not even better than its predecessor the Headrush Looperboard.
auto record!!!!!!!!! its the one thins boss rc has over all loopers if there no signal no record but track is armed ready to go then when signal comes in recording starts!!!!! that's what's missing here!!!!!
Half the price i can get rc 600 tho
Terrible review. Nothing weird about it
You need to get into the 21st century, musically. You stuck in the 20th century like most copicat musos doing covers from 70s 80s n 90s.,🥱🥱🥱
