Yeah - we all remember when Musk told us Robotaxies were imminent and threatened potential Model 3 lease customers that they would not be able to purchase their car at the end of the lease because Tesla was going to take them for their own fleet of corporate Robotaxies. That was more than five years ago.

    I'm sorry. I have a Tesla model 3.
I'm driving in Norway. The road markings are the same in Norway as in America.
FSD is for me a joke. On the highway in the summer:
    1. I have to take over every 3-5 minutts.
    2. If there are a bridge over the road with lower speed, the car breakes.
    3. It can't read digital signs, or road work signs.
    4. If it's road work, or the markings is gone. The car can't drive.
    5. If it rains the car can't see the road. (And we don't get the poring rain like in the tropics).
And, in the winter you can hardly use the autopilot.
The new ones dosen't have lidar, and test from NAF (Norwegian automobil Agency), shows that the car can't mesure the lenght in front when it parks.
My car was sold with FSD. But, I think you need a massive hardware upgrade just to get something that resembles full self driving.

It's not FSD because it's supervised driving. It's pointless and deceptive for automakers to be calling it FSD when it's not. It's SSD only "Supervised Self Driving". Basically collision avoidance technology at best and even that is questionable. It's a recipe for disaster if people take their hands off the steering wheel. Glad you acknowledged that Sam. I think there's way too much hype around this technology , promising as it is for the future. Personally I see no point in paying for this technology until it is fully certified FSD and that could be a decade away. FSD Technology to be accepted in this context has to be better than humans 99.999% of the time, for it to be accepted as completely hands free certified FSD. No car manufacturer has cracked 100% FSD. I'm surprised that Robo taxis are even allowed at this stage. This technology implementation is just another exercise in controlled chaos, in the hope that one day it will resolve. I hope they do eventually reach full FSD capability, however I don't see that occurring for many years. They have left the difficult stuff until last ( highly variable and unpredictable edge cases ), so the real AI assisted journey has only just begun.

RIGHT... it's just Extremely expensive SAE Level 2 autonomy... the FSD take rate in the USA hasn't been huge, and will be lower than that in Europe and China. The additional FSD revenue ain't going to amount to much.... IMO, Tesla has grossly OVER invested in this if they need to sell it for $100/mo.

When an electricity market has a high amount of wind turbines and solar PV, as is the ambition in many countries, it is more efficient to build a nuclear power plant instead of investing further in more renewable capacity. This results from the fact that a high share of renewables strongly reduces the electricity prices which can be earned by investors in wind and solar, while that is much less the case for investors in nuclear power. The latter can benefit from the high (scarcity) prices when there is hardly wind or sunshine. Although investors in a nuclear power plant may require a small subsidy to make the investment profitable, the subsidy they require is much much lower (per unit of production) than what is required by investors in renewable technologies, in particular solar PV.

The recent bloodletting in Tesla by Elon Musk was to double down on the autonomous strategy has a technology company. Tesla actually upset many of its loyal fans in 2023 when it clearly stated that Autopilot and FSD Beta were Level-2 driver assistance systems. This put Tesla's self-driving system below some Level-3 systems already certified in Europe and the US ie Mercedes and BMW. Consequently it is understandable why Musk doubled down on Tesla’s autonomous strategy otherwise they are being left behind and building a small car doesn’t resolve that issue.
