Many thanks for these tips Travis. It's great to know it's possible to link motions together since Mixamo took that functionality away from it's site. It would be great to see a sequel to this video with you linking bespoke animations (ie: from Ipi) to Mixamo animations. Oh, and also your experiences with the new dForce applied to these FBXs. Thanks again and you have a new subscriber :)
Thanks to my buddy @fvckrender for helping me out with these techniques. Mixamo is an amazing website for quickly rigging and bringing your characters to life. If you want to see how to combine these animations in cinema 4d using motion clips, watch this th-cam.com/video/kzo2sp25gsA/w-d-xo.html

Hi guys, I believe that unfortunately Maximo to Daz3d support has ended and it is far more complex to implement. This is annoying and I suspect it's largely down to Daz3d's payment model. It's just not profitable for them to allow someone to provide animations for free when they can be sold for quite a lot in the Daz store. If you find a solution for this, let me know as I was also looking.
My Daz3d shows error message once i import fbx from Mixamo, saying Rigging limitation: bones without... and pre and post rotation must match in current.. and once I click ok, it's not rigged right. Figure is all twisted. Do you know how to fix this error?

Hey tTravis! any tip on how to export Genesis 8 to Mixamo? I tried several ways and nothing seems to work, I have weird issues like when I import the animation back to DAZ, all the joints are separated. Thank you!!! :)
Good Video !! But converting in Animate makes the figures feet slide right now . I`m not sure what caused thiis ? DAZ Studio 4.15 or there are changes in Mixamo sides . The obvious reason is FBX creating keyframe in BODY , meanwhile ANIMATE converting those keyframe in HIP instead . Since DAZ not yet having proper IK so I suspect that the reason . So for quick conclusion You can still use MIxamo animation as long you work in the main timeline not Animate
Dear Travis, any way to keep the face rig from DAZ when u send your DAZ character to mixamo, and then back to C4D, in order to be able to add face animations to the mixamo body animations ? Im desperate for finding a way to do this, just even having a mixamo walk cycle and being able to animete the eyes of my character..... cannot find anything online and searching since this morning :/ Any help would be a miracle. Thanks so much in advance
Oh yep you're right :/ The .fbx from Mixamo to Daz does not work. But it works in C4D so you can at least use the mixamo animations with a genesis 3 character in C4D, and render with Octane ;)
Yup this is true, its fine if that's all you wanted to do but now it defeats the whole purpose of this tutorial since you can't modify the fbx files in daz which is a shame to be honest and you'll never be able to create the t-pose to animation transition. I just wish Mixamo had a proper animation editor that allows you to combine animations before you even export from the website BUT the only solution now is gen 2 with daz for doing this.
Unfortunately... That said I found that if you export the .fbx as a 2014 - binary file (www.dropbox.com/s/bntll9sdey42hk1/DAZStudio_2017-05-16_13-30-28.png?dl=0) you don't have to move the green joint gizmo, it is already on the floor. Also in C4D I have no problem viewing the textures with Octane with the .fbx 2014. You just have to invert the opacity for the eyelashes and the hair. www.dropbox.com/s/8r0v6exs8tfhll7/CINEMA%204D_2017-05-16_13-38-24.png?dl=0
I was able to create them animations using Mixamo through Adobe Fuse. It should work. I just started with Daz so haven't tried this neat trick. Will try it soon.
Amazing tutorial again :) im wondering if theres a way to use the rig of 3d daz, then put in details in the model in zbrush and then use the mixamo animations. I saw Anthony did a character and animate it with mixamo.
Thank you, yup this is possible! I've seen lots of custom characters get uploaded to mixamo. I think as long as it represents something bipedal and it has good edge flow then its good to go for Mixamo.
hey, great tutorial. however, hen I upload my character it won't allow me to use if it has textures on it? how did you manage to upload your 3D model with textures? thanks
I uploaded my character as is and then when you put the animation into animate 2 in Daz as explained, you delete the FBX character (follow his instruction). After this, you may add textures and wardrobe to Genesis 2. Hope this helps cause' I got confused about textures.
Hoping you notice comments from time to time... How do you import Genesis 3 or 8 models into Mixamo? I haven't been able to get a genesis 8 model to import properly unfortunately, despite neutral posing and removing all assets
What works for me is to import my GEN 8 character into Cinema 4D and delete the entire rig so it's just the gen 8 obj on it's own and then save that out as it's own OBJ and upload that to Mixamo, it always works for me.
Hello, I have a question i save daz file Send to friends, why others can not open the file? How can I send the information to others? and others can completely open my profile
sir, i want to ask you why my mixamo doesn't have the fbx option only? there were fbx binary, fbx ASCII, fbx for unity and fbx 6, so which one that you used to import to daz? tell me please. thank you
Mixamo must have added more options. I was struggling today as well to get this to work (after having done it hundreds of times before!). In mixamo, exporting as FBX7.4 seems to work on Genesis (you should always use Genesis btw)
Travis, could you help me? Mixamo says 'unable to map your existing skeleton' after trying to upload. I have a Genesis 8 male figure. What do I need to do differently?
Thank you for your tutorial in the video Mixamo and Daz3d how you configure skeletons in Edit Mapping Genesis 3 Female if it could not show Edit Mapping configured Thank
Royalty free doesn't make it free. Gotta read the license and pay a fee if such requires it. I haven't read into the terms on Daz, but sure will regarding commercial use. In order to make commercial use of what he done here in this video using both. You need a license from both companies/sites stating you can indeed do so, or it be part of their terms in writing.
