This is done by a professional with years and years of experience who's had ages to perfect his workflow, nobody's going to be this good as a beginner! I'd recommend tutorials by Blender Guru and Grant Abbitt, they're really beginner-friendly and help you learn the program and terms.

If the full course is made like this, then I'll definitely be taking a look at it all in depth in the coming days.

Very good video about character workflow on blender. It would be amazing a series of videos in this style but targeted to a complete animation production, talking the basics about what are Drivers, Library Overides... not explaining exactly how to use then, but what features you should look for in each production stage. That would be good to show studios the basic workflow/pipeline in blender, and convince them to try it.
Wow, almost 2 years after and it still mind-blowing. I was just searching for a easy way to retopo a Sculpted character into a low density and cleaner model, but it seems there is no magic. Time to study and work hard, thanks for the amazing content.

WOW, this is amazing, now i know i need to learn lot a lot more to become character artist, but it will be great journey; this video made me more interested in character creation and everything about it!
1. how long it took to make this character ready for animation in real time? 2. how much will cost to hire someone to make such character ready for animation?
1. It completely depends on your skills in different areas. You can be good at modelling but not so good at rigging, UVs or painting textures. Usually you can't be good at every area so there's almost always a team that works on characters. It includes 2d concept artists, sculpters/modellers who also make UVs, texture artists, riggers, animators and so on. 2. Defenetly it's not very cheap if you want a professional to do this. It's better to make inquiry on any freelance site but you need a technical task for it.
21:57 Nitpick: Realism may require adjusting Specular for dielectric materials with an IOR far from 1.5. In practice, that should mostly be wet things (liquids, eyes), and gemstones/crystals? There's an equation to calculate it in the Blender manual for the Principled BSDF. Luckily an IOR=1.5 and thus Specular=0.5 is pretty accurate for most non-metal solids. However, ice (IOR=1.3) needs 0.2, and diamond (IOR=2.4) needs 2.2 - otherwise the ice will be too reflective and the diamond too dull, regardless of the roughness. (Yes, you can type in values >1.) Not sure about metals, since they can have pretty extreme IORs, but I think the Specular setting is built around dielectrics, and doesn't seem to make as much of a difference?
Yesss! Thank you for posting this, it’s a bit too advanced for me right now, but I can now see the entire blender process (rather than the zbrush to blender process) I’d definitely take your class if you were teaching character sculpting!

For me it's everything after the end of this video I need to learn. I don't know how to set up a system that is a time saver, easy to use, versatile, drop audio it talks, drop a bvh or an fbx and it dances, without errors and fails at every turn. If I could find a course with support to get me to do this I'll gladly pay. Please someone send me to the right place.
This is so good! This character looks so nice. Quality tutorial too. Thanks Julien - you're a legend!
26:50 me when i see exam paper
@Reddwarf lol
Lmao
Thank you so much! I can't tell you how many times I have looked at this video. It's invaluable to me.
5:01 how do you keep sharp areas such as the connection between the eye and the eye socket or the lips sharp when using the Remesher?
make the detail you want, then mask it out, before using the remesher, I think the mesher ignores masked parts not 100% sure though
@@gower1973 It doesn't afaik but it's a common request
Voxel needs to be at a certain level to keep those details. It's trial, error, and size of your mesh.
have you tried separating that part ,remesh it then Boolean then back togather
best official tutorial i've seen
Stylized Character Workflow with Blender 2.81....Or..... how to destroy somebody's Blender dreams in less than 30 minutes :P
This video was very helpful to me. It gave me an idea of what to expect for each step and I feel more familiar with functions that I wasn't aware of. I'll definitely be checking out your more in-depth tutorials! :D
0:55 I LOVE HIM
WOW, this is amazing, now i know i need to learn lot a lot more to become character artist, but it will be great journey; this video made me more interested in character creation and everything about it!
1. how long it took to make this character ready for animation in real time?
2. how much will cost to hire someone to make such character ready for animation?
It's better to make inquiry on any freelance site but you need a technical task for it.
about an week depending on the quality you want and the pipeline. and costs vary
My head hurts but is satisfied by this new knowledge
nice course!
but i am still curious about the best way to rigging a cloth,
without overlapping with the bodies.. and not too much shapkey..
(Yes, you can type in values >1.)
Not sure about metals, since they can have pretty extreme IORs, but I think the Specular setting is built around dielectrics, and doesn't seem to make as much of a difference?
greatt i like this
Awesome how they put so much effort into giving us Blender and showing us how to use it! One day I'm gonna pay it forward!
14:51 god i needed this
CONGRATS ON 1M AHHH BLENDER!!! 🤩
28:07 holy crap.
Whoa. This is some next-level knowledge.
“Just make sure you have a high resolution mesh.”
My laptop: *no*
Yesss! Thank you for posting this, it’s a bit too advanced for me right now, but I can now see the entire blender process (rather than the zbrush to blender process)
I’d definitely take your class if you were teaching character sculpting!
I realize I should have started learning 3d modelling when I was 3 years old, at 20 I feel like I don't have enough years left to get good lmao
check out Blender Guru's donut tutorial playlist. I did it last week. I'm 8 years older than u. I can now model stuff from scratch pretty ok after 1 week :)
Bruh
Omg dude same
Wow I just wanted to make a simple 3D video of maybe a character dancing or something but omg I had no idea how much work went into this so there goes that dream
