Hey hey, just wanted to pop in the comments and give a huge thank you for the amazing response to this video :)
And for those wondering, I use a mouse and keyboard for this, so don't be afraid to jump in and give it a go!
Thank you for the affirmation, that you're using a keyboard and mouse; i've always thought someone needs a tablet and stylus!
@@AnimatorBlender No problem, a tablet is a great tool, but you can still do a lot with just mouse and keyboard and then move onto tablet later 😁
@@KeelanJon your laughing is so refreshing !!😅
:)
Veryyyy hard to make.
Quick note for any newbies out there like me :D. Don't forget to apply your subdivision modifier before selecting sculpt mode other wise it won't add the extra geometry you need to sculpt if you are following along with the tutorial :D I just spent an hour and a half trying to figure out why my entire shape was moving and not the smaller sections lol
right I forgot omg!
Where were you an hour ago for me?? Lmao
my saviour XD
Thank u !!
you were a great help!🤩
"If you're still with me now, I'm proud of you." made me so happy, Thank you so much I'm so happy with how this is turning out
This is by far the best "How To Sculpt in Blender" tutorial around. Easily explained. You see the results happening in real time. And it works if you try it! Thank you for this and all your videos!
THE BEST WHAT THE HECK!
@@edwardfell2878yup the best
For those who's dying like "why my geometry doesn't move like his" After you open apply the subdivision modifier, you need to click the little arrow next to the X button then choose "apply". Otherwise your shape is recognized as a cube.
Thank you sm I was looking for the apply button but couldn't find it !
I love you
THANK YOU
@@PACIF_IK Go back to object mode using tab
thank you so much !
I’m only 6 minutes into this tutorial and already so many questions about what I was doing wrong have been answered. Cannot wait to start using blender to its full potential.
Finally someone who explains the mirroring in a way that I understand, that does exactly the thing I want. I always knew it existed, but I somehow never found a proper, quick explanation mentioning the modifiers. I probably always searched wrong.
I have yet to find a blender sculpting "beginner" tutorial that didn't require a degree to finish, doing this I've been able to follow your instructions and create my own character without feeling i need to follow you exactly or ill miss something, it's been fantastic, thank you!
shut yo npc lookin
Still Can’t believe this is free. Thank you for making and sharing!
You're very welcome :)
@@KeelanJon I know it's a lot but can you teach us how to sculpt a normal human or something like a knight but realistic
@@Sll-m3e For realism it's generally easier to use character generators/creators as otherwise creating realistic characters takes too long to be practical. There's lots of great tools out there for this such as Meta human characters etc. Hope that helps 😁
I love it when you at 14:09 say "I've recorded it about three times" with this hopeful, near giving up voice 😆
Why haven't I seen people recommend this tutorial? It exactly what I look for in a tutorial, getting to the topic of the tutorial, and being FUN to listen to and being able to inform me on how to do things.
I just found this tutorial on the suggestion bar while i watch other turtorial and this is the best tutorial video i have ever clicked, man, the way you guide us in the video is just so easy to follow, thank you so much for the time and effort to make this video. You are helping this newbie so much
I am a complete beginner, and I bookmarked this immediately. No one has a tutorial as good as yours!
By far the best Blender tutorial I've tried yet, and I'm not just talking about sculpting alone!
I remember trying a sculpting tutorial sometime ago and was about to lose my MIND!. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS its 27 minutes long and the best progress ive ever made in sculpting, and im learning some basic techniques thatll stick with me! I dont normally comment on things but i had to this time! AMAZING WORK THANKS AGAIN!
a calm energy and clear instructions. 10/10 tutorial
When I added the subdivision modifier my shape dissapeared.... What do I do
@@aims.j I suggest you undo, if that ship has sailed it will be tough to fix but I suggest you at least check if the object has all its faces and no holes, might be causing it
I appreciate the time you take to explain the toolsets and why we'd want to change a setting instead of just telling us to change it.
This is a fantastic tutorial. I just wanted to give special props for the casual approach you've taken, as it shows it's not a science, you're just playing around til you find something you like, and we should do the same. Something I feel is missed from lots of tutorials.
I'm happy you enjoyed and I appreciate the kind feedback 😁🙌
about to give up on blender until i randomly find ur video, really thnx alot man
you are genuinely so underrated your tutorials are the only ones that keep my interest for the whole video, tell me exactly what to do without confusion or being too vague, being just a pleasant person in general and have useful content! i started this tutorial yesterday to about halfway and then i restarted today (i have bad memory lmao) and even though i had already watched it i didnt get bored at all Thank you for this! i was having a horrible day and the whole *waves hands* vibe of your channel is very calming and comforting :D
Keelan! You finally did this! On behalf of blender community, thank you so much for this! Such a legend. 💯💯💯
Hey thanks man, hope you enjoy this series 😁🙌
This is by far the best blender tutorial ever I watch this in 2024 and it's still the same thank you so much
I love that you take a second to point out some basic keybindings and menu things.
this is actually really helpful! I really wanted to sculpt my fursona, but i had no idea where to even start or how to navigate the app. I followed this tutorial, but created my own shapes and it turned out really well!! :D thank you so much!!!!
dude wth is a fursona
@@arkisgoodarkisgood5023 an anthropomorphic animal character :)
a fursona specifically is one that represents yourself
watched this a year ago and havent really used blender alot since then ... just watched it again as a refresh ... really helps thx!
BRO this is finally an easy sculping tutorial! please do more with body and clothing. That would be a blessing from the god himself. Pleaseee
Hi! Absolute begginer here! Never used Blender before, its my third day and you helped me a lot! Thank you
Really enjoying this tutorial. I'm just watching it straight through so I've got an idea of all the stages, before jumping in and following along. The name you were looking for (the little triangular part of the ear by the ear hole) is called the "tragus".
There has literally not been a more helpful tutorial for blender this is the best one i could find
Such an easy teaching style and an approachable method that I feel like I don't hate sculpting anymore. Definitely going to finish the series and subscribe. Thank you so much for putting this out there!
I just downloaded blender this week and stumbled upon your lowpoly car tutorial. I feel like i've hit the jackpot in finding a great teacher out of the gates! Thanks a lot for the quality content and inspiration. May your coffee never go cold
Glad I could help! And appreciate the coffee comment 😉😁🙌
animation student here, i have my final exam due in a month, had my 3d sculpting class in zbrush 2 years ago (im completely rusty and dont want to relearn zbrush) im learning blender with this tutorial and so far so good, thank you!!
EXCELLENT! I began watching your tutorial as a semi-proficient Blender user, clueless Blender sculptor. I appreciate the effort you took to explain what and why you did things a certain way. If I can digest the information you presented I'll be on my way with a current project of making a chibi style raccoon as a mesh gift for a 3d grid world. Thanks.
I have tried to follow numerous beginner sculpting tuts, this is absolutely outstanding, easy to follow, and you explain the steps! Thank you so much. Subscribed and liked, looking forward to other videos.
I really like your video, it is probably the best sculpting for beginners one. Still, got a simple trick for y'all to shortcut from 0:00 to 20:11. Shift + A (Add), Mesh - Monkey, Ctrl + 4 (for subdivide), Done. Well looking, Suzanne is ready for her hard duty :D
But what did you learn doing it that way? 🤔😂
This helped me alot. You gave detail SLOWLY but steadily and you showed us what we need to click and where to go. Thank you
this so amazing! so easy to understand 😁😁 i love the way you really enjoy that, it's weird but I have to say this is the most comfortable tutorial clip I've ever seen
bro that's amazing i couldn't understand anything about blender for a full year but now i feel i'm pro ( not yet ) but it's a great video, thank u fr
My grab does not work like his. It does not create the jaw line. It just flattena the entire sphere. Also the grab does not detect every point. What do?
Same. Even Shift + A does nothing for me.
Same what should we do?
Even my draw tool is not working
Try doing apply after doing the subdivision surface modifier worked for me
You need to be sure you apply the subdivision to the square, after adding it, there's a small V next to the x button. when you click that it'll show up some options, including apply. You'll want to do that
This is very helpfull to me thanks brother for this tutorial for free 😉
Fantastic tutorial and introduction to beginners! You've got some great teaching skills and a nice edit too. I'm definitely subscribed.
this video single handedly helped me so much, allowed me to create one of my first honest to god relatively detailed humanoid.
Gotta appreciate the effort, thank you so much!
It's so much fun watching you having fun while explaining everything :D never smiled this much while following a tutorial. love your videos!
This tutorail really helped me! This was my third attempt after trying the donut tutorial. The donut tutorial isn't bad. I was just unable to truly focus on it. This was well done!! I was invested and attentive troughout all of it!
Thanks my man! The tutorial was very useful to me :D
Thank you for your tutorial, Keelan!
I have been wanting to sculpt and learn to model with Blender for a long time!
But when I realized that the thing I wanted to make would greatly benefit from sculpting, I finally went and looked for a video to show me how to do it!
And what a great video it is!
You introduced me and everyone at an excellent pace and made learning fun!
Thank you!
with version 3.4. You want to add a UV sphere instead of adding subdivision. Because, when you add subdivision to your cube, it does not add any vertices. its still the cube vertices, if you switch to edit mode you can see this.
Hey Joe, thanks for the comment 😁If you convert your subdivided cube to a mesh, it will then give you all the vertices to work with, hope that helps 🙌
@@KeelanJon Yup, It was an easy switch. Man, there are so many tools! Thanks for the lesson by the way. Keep it up. God bless Bra!
How do I turn the subdivided cute into a mesh?
@@vacuumtundraselect the cube while in object mode, right click on your mouse, choose “convert to”
Thank you so much. I didn't know what I was doing wrong until I saw your comment.
Thank you for this very well done tutorial. It has the right pacing, the right level of information, the right tone and a cute model to boot. Your channel hits all the right notes for me, I will be back often.
Wow this is the clearest, easiest to follow sculpt vid I've been searching for. Great rendition of "smooth me over cassenova" 😂
This is the only video that’s recent and actually helpful I’ve found, everything else is either outdated by years or impossible to understand
It's a good tutorial, but he committed the worst sin known to all blender users, not delting the defult cube and replacing it with another cube
got taught more from this video then any of the blender tutorials
they just talk and get me less motivated but you actually gave tips
This has been easier to follow than most other tutorials. Thank you very much.
Man! OUT OF ALL TUTORIALS YOURS IS THE BEST ONE!!!! thank you so much!!! It so easy and fun to listen to you! just amazinng! Thank you!!!
I just love your tutorials,so simple & straight to the point. Also the fact that you get excited when the sculpts get into shape 😅
This is super exciting to follow, you've motivated me to do this today. It's been a while since I sculpted anything.💪
Hey hey thank you for the kind feedback 😁 I'm glad you're enjoying and hope my enthusiasm helps 🤣
@@KeelanJon it helps alot, watched all 4parts today. So helpful. Waiting for the fifth💯
Thanks Bruv
This is the first sclupting tutorial I've watched, and you explain it very well. Thank u sm! I feel like sclupting will be easy, or maybe not...
What a life saver. Been stuck with my 3D characters project and miraculously stumbled upon your tutorials. Anyways, as novice myself. Could you perhaps create timeline, marks for easy reference
Thanks for taking the time to record this; I love that we can learn by watching TH-cam videos. Thanks sir :)
I got to the part where I was about to set the eyes, and when I turned on symmetry, the cursors were definitely not symmetrical. I think I may have skipped a step. I'm happy with what I got done, and it's late enough that i'm going to stop for the day, but i love this tutorial, and will take another crack at it tomorrow. Thanks!
I have the same problem, how do you re-center the head?
THis is the best tutorials for Blender Sculpting!!! I learned soo much!! Thanks!!!
Your explanation is clear and easy to follow for beginners!
Love it!😍👍💪
this is my second ever blender tutorial and you explained everything so perfectly, thank you for this
Amazing tutorial! Thank you!
OMG! Finally a tutorial that is straight and simple! Thank You!
inspiring video and always motivate me to create more objects and character
Hey I'm glad to hear that, keep it up 😁🙌
Keelan... instant subscriber. New to blender, day 9 or so, this was my intro to sculpting.
Perfect tutorial. On to step 2.
Cheers
You're very welcome, thanks for watching 😁🙌
this really really helped me, when i got blender i didnt know anything, until i found this video, its soooooooo helpful and i made my own 3d avatar in minutes. thanks
Started sculpting characters in Blender. My characters are a bit more detailed than the ones in the tutorial video: when remeshing I get some choppy edges, I can't go too small as it'll be a bit too much for my PC, so I was wondering what ways are there to smooth out/fix these choppy/jagged parts of the sculpt outside of remesh feature size?
Literally the best blender tutorial. No joke.
I was able to start up a goat head and this was explained pretty well! I had a blunder I had to figure out and somehow.. I managed! (I made a mirror copy of an ear.. and it didn't mirror as finished, so I had to delete a side and remirror it!) I'm really shocked how simple things can be but also look so tedious! Thank you. :) I also wanted to add that the eye tutorial was interesting for a goat character I was working on! I figured it out from your suggestions! I ended up sculpting the nose directly on the face.. Is that a problem for later?
Great tutorial! Completed your character with my own touches of course. I'm now easily creating my own characters. Great teaching, thanks!
who else's blender crashed the minute you re-meshed?
Oh man, I love your uplifting teaching style. The character is also looking great
Hey so I just had this playing and made a coffee and came back at 8:15 ... Just gonna say that it definitely does not look like a neck to someone just walking in.
so much better than the other tutorials, they go too fast and really arent beginner friendly even if it says beginner in the title, the inputs also help more than you could know, thank you
As a beginner to blender, I really did enjoy this tutorial a lot. Thank you so much!
this series has really helped me to get to know character sculpting in blender
Thank god for your videos, only videos i get recommended is the donut and I can say yours is definatly better
this video gave me the breakthrough i needed to make something in blender. Thank you!
First time I completed a Blender tutorial and learned something!
ive struggled with sculpting in blender and this tutorial completely changed that tysm!
i love the way you explain with every keys on keyboard and the tips.. because i'm totally newbie using blender. thank u so much :D
Hey! While I didn't really follow your tutorial fully, I had it playing in the background while listening to your advice, and now for the first time in a while, im having fun using blender again! Thank you kind sir!
I've been coming up with a concept in order to possibly create my own little indie horror game. This really helped me learn how to sculpt my monster!
daaamn, amaaazing tutorial, thank you. I managed to sculpt something I liked at the first go. Enjoying this technique. Kudos
This is the best blender tutorial I have seen so far, Thank U
thank you so much for this walkthrough i was trying so hard to learn how to make my pony oc models main longer this is very helpfull they dont give durections on strechting the side bar to see the names of sculpting things ❤
This would be a good start for me to get into sculpting. Oh and you can use the Shortcut "Shift+R" to adjust and visually see the voxel size in the viewport and then "Ctrl+R" to remesh. Thank you.
This is my third time watching this awesome tutorial. Thanks.
Thank you! this taught me the ropes!
GOATED teacher
My new year resolution was to learn Blender. This video is a godsend. Thank you so much! (although my characters looks like the evil Frankenstein twin of yours lol)
I absolutely love your commentary ❤
And I love your comment 😉😁
Such a soulful creator. New Subscriber. Can't wait to see what I get up to sculpting.
bro, those black and white transition card screens along with your intro are FIRE!!!!!! perfect example of classic elements and techniques will always be better than new flashy effects
you the best teacher i ever had
Great tutorial! Haven’t messed with Blender in years. Used your tutorial to re familiarize myself with some of the tools. Great starting off point!!!
I created horror theme character after messing up the facial structure, but this still helped a ton. Awesome video. Helped a bunch
This is such a great tutorial!! It simplified the process and I learned more about the tools so I could do my own thing.
