YO Noobifier! You're a godsend. I've always loved your videos regarding Star Citizen, so when I recently decided to up my ante with audio, a buddy recommended the A50's, so I was watching some reviews, and just so happened to see your telltale thumbnail in the corner of my eye. I almost gasped out loud. I've always appreciated your No BS approach to things, so I'm super thankful to have found this review of yours. Thank you so much for what you do, you're awesome.

Been looking a A50s for a while and your review was helpful
I used to buy nothin' but Turtle Beach til I finally got tired of em breaking. Picked up the Astro A10 & have been rockin' em ever since. Luv the sound & comfort over the ear. Checked this video out to see about upgrading, because the 1 thing I don't like is the pad pushing down on the top of my head. Looks like these do too. Good video.
It's good to cause if your just into sound the A10's have the same speaker as there 300 dollar offerings!
Solid review. Definitely worth checking out. I think for immersion and feedback people should never go cheap on headphones they are just as important as a graphics card is. This review answered the questions I was thinking about. Bravo!
I've been using A40s since ~2013 and only had to replace mine last year. 6 year lifetime for a headset! Bought A40s again when I had to finally get a new pair. Would never go back to any other headset!
You still have the a40s still to this day?

same here I have a50 for more than 5 years but it did giving me signs it's about time to replace it with new one
Why not try the A50? I don't what to buy, I want to buy to use on Xbox and PC with a USB KVM to switch between both

I had a pair of old Astro a few years ago which I like very much. I would choose the A50's just for the wireless aspect.

Being a Nerocognative Disorder guy I found this Noobifier review to be quite pleasant to follow. I am really loving the "sound" and look of the ASTRO A40. I am not much of wireless being around the head. I have had my fill of radiation in my life. The mix amp pro looks to be what I would need to get my start in streaming a go. I use my pc every day as I am in my wheelchair a great deal. My PC is one that I have built years ago and really need to update so this would be a welcomed and needed addition. Thank you for the great review. It is appreciated. I look forward to meeting you in the "VERSE". ISEMPERFI

Was there an mic test for the a40?
i don't mind my headset being wired or wireless because i sit at a desk gaming but what i do care about is audio. is there a difference in audio between the two Headsets? if so is it noticeable?
In case anyone is curious, I'm using A40 with a LukeClip and it works well.
I've been 40s for about 2 years and I had the a 50 before that for about 6 years( reason I bought new ones is my 2 year old broke the old ones no fault in the astro. Just not built to handle a 2 year old lol.)
Anyway love them I'll be sticking with astro for years to come.

Great looking headphones.
I have had the A40 with MixAmp for years. While it is durable and the sound quality is good, I have had problems with the mic. One mic failed and was replaced by manufacturer. Despite replacement, when I was playing with other people, I had continuous complaints about my mic from other people, saying that it sounded like I was rubbing the mic against sandpaper. Nothing I could do seemed to solve this.
A50, can they still be charged by wire. Mine dont got that charging stand and need a wire to charge. And by that i can charge while using them if they run out of power.
That's this year's birthday present from the wife then. Ta 😄
Both A40 and A50 look great. Personally, I think I would prefer them without the default bass boosted.

I don’t know what it is but Astros just do it right look good feel good I have had the base Astros for feels like 6 years now no foam on the top and I refused to get a new one but been having some problems so I’m upgrading to the a50s could not reccomend them enough

Hey Noob, as a fellow audiophile, how would you rate these against the razer nari ultimates?
jdubs 23 it’s difficult really to quantify because For gaming, these are tuned perfect. I would probably go get a set of Shure 840s if I planned to sit and enjoy music over these, but then I really am also a sucker for convenience as I find myself using AirPod pro most of the time when I am out and about. I am more of a speaker user than headphones. I know that does not answer the question, sorry

It is not

When using the four presets do you keep the mixamp on the Star?
They are independent, you can use the four, without changing Dolby mode.

The Game/voice Balance Dial on my Mixamp pro TR is not working. I went from Xbox to PC. It worked just fine on my Xbox. right now that’s the only issue I’m having. Anybody know how I can fix this? Thank you.

Considering the A50 is almost 200 dollars more expensive, I would have expected the amp to be with it, along with the base.
The charging base, IS THE AMP. They are wireless

I had a40's and they just didnt sound as good as the senhizers i have now for a similar price

hi, i bought the astro a40 tr xbox / pc version, and i would like to know it is compatible with the ps4 / pc version mixamp? the mixamp xbox / pc version is out of stock
I believe the Mix Amp is the part that is either XBox or PS. I would have to ask tech support

Use the inline cable button that connects the mix amp to the headset.

its a good review but I feel like you kept getting quieter and quieter throughout the video. I had to constantly keep bumping my volume up

I almost picked up the A40s before my friend suggested the SteelSeries Arctis series due to the clamping force of the A40s. I get pressure headaches pretty easily so I went with the Arctis 7s. Of all other reviews I've heard, the A40s are pretty solid.

Quite sure that these features might be limited to PC only. BUT, you can connect to PC, adjust and save a profile to the device

The A50 are a bit heavier and kinda start hurting top of headband after a while the A40 are a bit lighter

Oh I have always been a razer man lol, had manowar but upgraded to wireless razer nari last year and really enjoy them. The extra control on these logitech ones might be worth a look though eh. Nothing ventured nothing gained 🙂

The mixamp is in the headset integrated. U don‘t need to buy one extra.
I been a huge Astro A50 user for about 10 years with the different generations.
I did though move to the Arctic Pro newest gen. The interchangeable battery was too good of a feature. I use to have to pretty much keep my A50s plugged in because I use them so much that each day it was being plug by the end of the night. With the Arctic Pro I just grab the battery.
I do miss my Astros though... If they had interchangeable batteries like my $300 Arctic Pros then I would go right back to the Astros.

Its such a nice design. I like it. But how much better will it sounds vs the Logitech Artemis G933? I'm so sattisfied with my snow edition, but when it can be better, I realy like to sample because sound and graphics are to me very essential. Btw, service, software and driver updates are essential to me as well

I can tell you the difference as I have both the logi 933 on PC and have used a pair of (older version than reviewed) A50s for a few years.
The astro is the better headset all around in my opinion. I love the 933 for its integration with all my other logi peripherals and it's quick customization in Ghub and as you know the 7.1 simulation is solid on it! That being said I don't think I would buy it again. The Astro A50 has marginally better drivers in it producing more clean and better sound and has a FAR better mic quality for chat. My only gripe about the A50, to @noobifier point, is it is EQ a little to heavy on the bass. There have been moments in RDR2 that almost made my ears bleed. I like my sound loud for immersion and it just hits too hard with bass. That said, my old ones I can't eq on console so if you can tweak it now than life is good. Hope this helps!

I would say side by side, they have less bass than the A50… but I have to EQ the bass out on the A50. If that helps,

Noob what you mean due to licensing the A40's just work with XBOX and PSTATION, so doesnt work with pc then?
N0MAK PT they will all work with PC, and then also one of the consoles but not both consoles.

Why isn't there a single reviewer addressing the fact that at least on PC with the dolby button on, there is absolutely zero surround sound? I've been using Astro brand since 2010 and this is the first generation where it's been like this. The appeal of this headset to me has always been the ridiculous surround sound capabilities of this headset with the dolby button.
You have to add the DOLBY ATMOS driver

@@Robert048 No, that is part of the solution. When you get the headphones, there is a code to install the Dolby Atmos drivers free for one year.

I noticed that too ..all my headsets that come with there own EQ software get automatically overwritten by DA if you have it installed...atleast DA is good though so no biggie to me ..
