I purchased a pair of the A50's the other day, watched the dark knight. Seen the movie a bunch but never heard it like this before. Best quality headphones ive experienced.
They aren’t very loud or immersive, but the quality of the detail in the audio is something to be appreciated. It’s just heightened if you try the A40 TR’s with the Mixamp pro in direct comparison. I wish the A50’s were louder tho

@@ryanplog5362 I've had them for about a week now, I haven't had that issue honestly. They pair up just fine. I hit the power up button and they turn my xbox on, and then connect to my phone immediately through Bluetooth. I might have gotten lucky 🤷🏻♂️

@@zach4537 I use the mixamp with my sennheiser 58x's that's a great pairing too, if you need a mic you can go with a modmic. The pc37x are a great combo, good value. I also use shp 9500's with a boom pro. The a40s are only good for gaming. With the others it's a good musical experience as well. They are all easy to drive.
I had gen 1 a50s for like 6 years, battery life was fine. In the final year it started to decrease and stopped charging. that's after 6 years though. Got the new gen a50s and I don't regret spending the $$ at all

Excellent review... Showed the buttons, game/chat and controls right on the ear up, talked about quality, battery life... many things other reviewers leave out.
I've tried almost every headset imaginable and nothing compares to this headset when you're using the optical out with the right preset for what you're doing. Absolutely clearest and good bass compoared to most headsets out there. Even compared to wired USB surround sound headsets.

Here's a hack for the astro a50. I have all 3 consoles, xbox connected via optical, ps4 on usb, switch through the aux and a usb cable plugged to the wall for charging. Works like a charm.
It really annoys me that more headsets don't come with a charging dock. It's the primary reason I'm considering this over competitors, because I hate fiddling with USB cables every time I pick up or put down my headset.
Gen4 a50s are really good u can change the ear cups on the gen4 You probably talking bout the gen1-3 which were trash but the a40 tr are only good with the mixamp but a50 sound as good as the tr with mixamp
@@Tigeraso not even close actually. Not to eat caps. The ear caps. So on the wireless. They are closed back. But on the TR you can remove the side pieces and it becomes open back. The sound is exceptional when the caps are removed The TR sound quite a bit bette than the wireless. That’s expected. It’s wired in. Same as the steelseries wireless pro vs the wired pro. The wired pro with game dac sound insane compare the wireless.

I’ve got this headset does anybody else have a problem that this sometimes doesn’t connect and sometimes the mic doesn’t work or the base station doesn’t light up when turned on? This only happens occasionally but it’s still annoying for the price of these. My base station is in clear view aswel so I’ve got no idea. Thanks for the review again and you’ve got a new sub 🤙🏼
Astro Headsets are great quality all around, pretty much abused my Gen 1 A50's and they still keep trucking on (btw the flip mic to mute feature has been there from the first gen). That said the gen4's look to be a nice upgrade. P.S. You can charge the A50's as you use them you don't have to dock them to the base station, just attach a micro b usb to the port on the headset to any powered usb and they will charge about twice as quick to.

Great video man. I bought the turtle beach 700 gen2 for Xbox since its wireless and mid-higher end. I was thinking it would work for me but it had tons of connectivity issues and within 30 days it completely died and wouldn’t turn on. Not a fan of turtle beach now. I’m Buying the A50s for sure.

My somewhat cheap wireless headset finally broke after about 2 years of use, and I was considering going all out and buying these instead of another cheap headset. Thanks for convincing me to buy them, they’re leagues better than anything I’ve owned and my favorite headset that I’ve ever used.
The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is fear of the power switch failing over time. I've gone through 3 G933's, all died due to wear-and-tear with the power switch connection. Since you've had a one year with the headset, have you noticed any wiggling of the switch?
You can adjust the Dolby settings (if you purchase the Dolby add-on; 14.99$) AND the audio settings in the ASTRO command center to up the bass to make it more like the TRs. Just gotta take the time to see what each decibel setting changes and how you like it. Glad I got the 50s still but the a40 TRs are more user friendly. Imo

I had mine for 2 years without any problems and the left headphone has just stopped working after 2 years of hard use. I bought mine for 249.99 plus tax so 2 years of use for about 270$ means I paid about 11.25 per month for 2 years. Astro a50 are very loud have booming base great surround sound excellent microphone they are very comfortable lught huge and cushy. I need a new pair I don't wanna play without them

I purchased the Corsair Virtuoso Xt's yesterday and didn't like the sound or comfort. Exchanged them for the gen 4 A50's and love them. Sound better (to me) by far and are much more comfortable.
If your problem with this headset is that 15 hours is not enough, you need to go and discover vagina, btw great video, I was going to return my newly bought a40 tr because I wanted the wireless ones for VR gaming but after this and a few other videos i decided to keep them both , the wired one for desk Gaming.
Good review. You pretty much talked about the points I wanted to hear. I have the Last Gen A 40 TR, been using it for like 3 years now. After watching the review Ill skip the A 50. Sounds like the A 50 isn't much of an upgrade from the A 40 TR. I wish my A 40s were just a bit louder and had more base when watching movies or playing games .
Correct my man, the A50 is more of a compromise for wireless IMO and it tries to come as close as possible but it isn’t perfect by any means. The A40’s are good but I agree, they could be a bit more Bassy
Great review let me save you some time on that hunt for entertainment headphones. I have sennheisers RS175 and I got to say they are amazing. I wear them for hours on and on the playstation and never feel any ear ache or ear soreness. Tons of base as you know sennheiser And amazing battery life like for 7 hours + depending on volume lvl. Downfall is no built in mic. They hook up direct link! For 175 im impressed i watch movies and game while my wife sleeps next to me she doesnt hear a thing!
rojasaland I ended up getting the A40 TR + MixAmp Pro TR. I wanted to hear the base in the foot steps when someone is coming up on me when playing Fortnite 😁 and when I play Apex legends. I have a gaming computer so I just opted for the wire for better sound 👍. I mean I can mute 🤐 myself when need be with the flip button on the wire so that’s a ok option.
I have recently bought the astro a50 gen 4 headset for my ps4 slim and i set it up with Hdmi cable from tv-> hdmi audio converter then optical cable from audio converter -> basestation then micro usb -> usb on ps4 slim. Everything is fine except when i press voice or game on the right earcup all audio goes loud or quiet. I have messed around in command centre and updated everything but it still does that. I have seen ppl say to set it to just chat audio but then I can only hear game audio out the tv but I want it in the headset aswell. Otherwise it is a great headset. Thanks in advance.
The capability to lower game volume and increase chat / vice versa is only for PC I believe. So touching those buttons wont give you the proper effect it's supposed to if you were on pc

I have the older gen A-50’s, and they are going out , and work Periodically?i was considering Top wnd Bose, A-40’s , new A-50’s, the steel series, or the Seinhiesers?The A-50’s i gave (the ones with the blue posts) hurt my ears after a few hours, i hear the optional cushions are better, but maybe the new ones are more comfortable than mine? Hi mare ive had those a50 gen4 and the a40 tr gen4 and the gsp 600 and the arctic wirelless but if you want the best best sounding headphones for games movies music try the hyperx cloud orbit s they will be the last headphones you will ever buy you will be thanking me please. Save your money and try them there awesome for ps4 pro or pc i use them for my ps4 pro. Thankyou nice video
I've got the Sennheiser's GSP 600 also and VERY DISAPPOINTED in them. The Mic is Great! but the volume is VERY low. I also own the Astro A50's Gen4, Rigs 800LX, Rigs 500hd pro wired. Which all are better than the GSP.

Good in depth video bud! I’m looking to pick up a pair of these Astra A50 but I wasn’t sure if I heard ya right. When you have them on and your gaming... when you speak into the mic are you able to hear your voice in the headset? I do like that option of hearing yourself talk because I find your not yelling into the mic. That is the one feature I liked about turtle beach. I’m hoping this option is on these A50’s

Hell yah, these boys are comfy af, I bought Razer V2Pro b4, and it hurts! perhaps my head is too big. One day i randomly poped in a gaming store and tried A40 on. I just bought it immediately on the spot without hesitation. Compfy is no1 thing for long-time gaming.

It’s just the microphone sound that’s making me hesitant. How much better is the microphone sound on the a40s compared to the a50s? I want the people I’m playing with to be able to hear me good. Just bought my first pair of astros got the astros A50s and this headset completely shits on all headsets I’ve used I’ve used high end turtle beaches I’ve used the newer higher in hyper x cloud headsets the A50s are better in literally ever way if you’re thinking about getting the astros A50s you will not be disappointed
I still have the first gen and they still work to this day (4 years) but now they’re starting to show signs of going bad. Prob getting the same set again.
Jeffrey Reyes no it is not. I mistakenly said I have the gen 2 now but it’s the gen 3 i have that’s still great. The gen 4 ive had for a few weeks are definitely superior to the 3’s. I did have the gen 2’s as well.

I absolutely love the tournament audio preset. The bass rattles your skull and footsteps are very audible. Incredible clarity without being muddy at any frequency that I've encountered on a40s more so with the mixamp. The mic quality on the a40 has been excellent for me on pc especially with a corpse-low voice
They good the A50’s just battery craps out in a couple of years which doesn’t make it worth it on my 3rd pair so going with a40’s I’ll deal with the wire worth it than battery messing up in a couple of years and warranty over $100 for 2 years like at Best Buy crazy if you ask me. Ima catch the a40’s on sale for $200 which makes it worth it and more customization

Astro all day everyday I’ve had my A40s for 8 years, it might sound like a high price, but with Astro you always get quality sound & comfortability.

Try and just give it a quick turn on and off of the headset, and It should work! I noticed that helped a lot for me

My somewhat cheap wireless headset finally broke after about 2 years of use, and I was considering going all out and buying these instead of another cheap headset. Thanks for convincing me to buy them, they’re leagues better than anything I’ve owned and my favorite headset that I’ve ever used.
The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is fear of the power switch failing over time. I've gone through 3 G933's, all died due to wear-and-tear with the power switch connection. Since you've had a one year with the headset, have you noticed any wiggling of the switch?
You can adjust the Dolby settings (if you purchase the Dolby add-on; 14.99$) AND the audio settings in the ASTRO command center to up the bass to make it more like the TRs. Just gotta take the time to see what each decibel setting changes and how you like it. Glad I got the 50s still but the a40 TRs are more user friendly. Imo

I had mine for 2 years without any problems and the left headphone has just stopped working after 2 years of hard use. I bought mine for 249.99 plus tax so 2 years of use for about 270$ means I paid about 11.25 per month for 2 years. Astro a50 are very loud have booming base great surround sound excellent microphone they are very comfortable lught huge and cushy. I need a new pair I don't wanna play without them

I purchased the Corsair Virtuoso Xt's yesterday and didn't like the sound or comfort. Exchanged them for the gen 4 A50's and love them. Sound better (to me) by far and are much more comfortable.
If your problem with this headset is that 15 hours is not enough, you need to go and discover vagina, btw great video, I was going to return my newly bought a40 tr because I wanted the wireless ones for VR gaming but after this and a few other videos i decided to keep them both , the wired one for desk Gaming.
Good review. You pretty much talked about the points I wanted to hear. I have the Last Gen A 40 TR, been using it for like 3 years now. After watching the review Ill skip the A 50. Sounds like the A 50 isn't much of an upgrade from the A 40 TR. I wish my A 40s were just a bit louder and had more base when watching movies or playing games .
Correct my man, the A50 is more of a compromise for wireless IMO and it tries to come as close as possible but it isn’t perfect by any means. The A40’s are good but I agree, they could be a bit more Bassy
I got here recently and you should run the Dolby option instead of the star mode. You get a lot more base
Great review let me save you some time on that hunt for entertainment headphones. I have sennheisers RS175 and I got to say they are amazing. I wear them for hours on and on the playstation and never feel any ear ache or ear soreness. Tons of base as you know sennheiser And amazing battery life like for 7 hours + depending on volume lvl. Downfall is no built in mic. They hook up direct link! For 175 im impressed i watch movies and game while my wife sleeps next to me she doesnt hear a thing!

rojasaland I ended up getting the A40 TR + MixAmp Pro TR. I wanted to hear the base in the foot steps when someone is coming up on me when playing Fortnite 😁 and when I play Apex legends. I have a gaming computer so I just opted for the wire for better sound 👍. I mean I can mute 🤐 myself when need be with the flip button on the wire so that’s a ok option.
They look awesome! I probably would wait for my birthday because I don’t know if I’d be willing to spend that much!😅

I have recently bought the astro a50 gen 4 headset for my ps4 slim and i set it up with Hdmi cable from tv-> hdmi audio converter then optical cable from audio converter -> basestation then micro usb -> usb on ps4 slim. Everything is fine except when i press voice or game on the right earcup all audio goes loud or quiet. I have messed around in command centre and updated everything but it still does that. I have seen ppl say to set it to just chat audio but then I can only hear game audio out the tv but I want it in the headset aswell. Otherwise it is a great headset.

The capability to lower game volume and increase chat / vice versa is only for PC I believe. So touching those buttons wont give you the proper effect it's supposed to if you were on pc

Hi mare ive had those a50 gen4 and the a40 tr gen4 and the gsp 600 and the arctic wirelless but if you want the best best sounding headphones for games movies music try the hyperx cloud orbit s they will be the last headphones you will ever buy you will be thanking me please. Save your money and try them there awesome for ps4 pro or pc i use them for my ps4 pro. Thankyou nice video

I've got the Sennheiser's GSP 600 also and VERY DISAPPOINTED in them. The Mic is Great! but the volume is VERY low. I also own the Astro A50's Gen4, Rigs 800LX, Rigs 500hd pro wired. Which all are better than the GSP.

Good in depth video bud! I’m looking to pick up a pair of these Astra A50 but I wasn’t sure if I heard ya right. When you have them on and your gaming... when you speak into the mic are you able to hear your voice in the headset? I do like that option of hearing yourself talk because I find your not yelling into the mic. That is the one feature I liked about turtle beach. I’m hoping this option is on these A50’s

Hell yah, these boys are comfy af, I bought Razer V2Pro b4, and it hurts! perhaps my head is too big. One day i randomly poped in a gaming store and tried A40 on. I just bought it immediately on the spot without hesitation. Compfy is no1 thing for long-time gaming.

Great video! I don’t have a desk, table or anything like that to store the volume control that comes with the a40s. I also really want a wireless headset. It’s just the microphone sound that’s making me hesitant. How much better is the microphone sound on the a40s compared to the a50s? I want the people I’m playing with to be able to hear me good. I only play one game, call of duty and that’s all I’ll be using these for.

Just bought my first pair of astros got the astros A50s and this headset completely shits on all headsets I’ve used I’ve used high end turtle beaches I’ve used the newer higher in hyper x cloud headsets the A50s are better in literally ever way if you’re thinking about getting the astros A50s you will not be disappointed

Jeffrey Reyes no it is not. I mistakenly said I have the gen 2 now but it’s the gen 3 i have that’s still great. The gen 4 ive had for a few weeks are definitely superior to the 3’s. I did have the gen 2’s as well.
Nephroghost With you upgrading to the Gen 4, does the Gen 3 work with new mix amps, or would you need to get the gen 3 mix amp to pair with? Also, would you still have the Gen 3 and be interested in selling online?

I absolutely love the tournament audio preset. The bass rattles your skull and footsteps are very audible. Incredible clarity without being muddy at any frequency that I've encountered on a40s more so with the mixamp. The mic quality on the a40 has been excellent for me on pc especially with a corpse-low voice

They good the A50’s just battery craps out in a couple of years which doesn’t make it worth it on my 3rd pair so going with a40’s I’ll deal with the wire worth it than battery messing up in a couple of years and warranty over $100 for 2 years like at Best Buy crazy if you ask me. Ima catch the a40’s on sale for $200 which makes it worth it and more customization
this headset is absolutely amazing for hearing based games like R6 Siege, and could make the difference between you clutching up the round or not.

Have you used the A40s before? If so, my question being: how 'open' are they compared to A40s? I'm looking for an open-backed headset, but wireless those are hard to come by. A50s are listed as neither 'really' open nor closed, but somewhere inbetween.
