Went from gen 3 to gen 4 a40 and didnt expect much. Boy was i wrong. I went from incredible headset to a godlike one. What an impressive upgrade it was. Sound quality is absolutely incredible. Loud, great base, much better mixamp, miles better noise cancelling. Just as comfy and stylish. This headset is just god like. Ive used some top tier headsets. Senhiser, corsair and steelseries flaghips and this headset is top dog. God among men. I wondered why astro is not going for gen 5 upgrade since this is an old headset. Well the answer is clear now. Simply does not need it. Its just a beast and destroys the competition out there. Astro is Astro, no way around it.

I disagree, mixamp allows alot of flexibility and improves sound quality in gaming, music etc and you can just switch on go. Very comfortable and the most important the sound quality is just amazing. It can honestly rival some top tier noise cancelling headphones on the market. I just two days ago got sonys next gen flagship noise cancelling headphones namely Sony wx-1000xm5. Its a noise caneclling 500 dollar flagship headphone and honestly the astro is not far of when it comes to sound. Pretty comparable. I guarantee you will love this headset for days specially if you switch from not a decent one. I mean i switched from gen 3 which was a superb headset and still the difference was quite noticable. Ill hear your opinion when you get it. :P I can assure you that you wont get anything better on the market. Ive listened to quite few headsets like corsair and steelseries flasgships. Razer headsets etc. A40 is just different league. Its a premium materal and premium performance. Pretty much lamborghini of headsets if you like it.
@@Stockfish1511 I just got it, updated it and tried it on my laptop with various sound test videos. My previous headset was the HyperX CloudX for xbox, pretty decent ones. You can immedeatelly tell the difference the open-back offers and the amplifier is a huge upgrade to the whole sound setup. I'm only playing PUBG on XBOX for 3 years now and wanted to take the extra step sound-wise. I will test them tonight on the game and I will let you know!
Wow, my friend you were totally right! Sound is clear, detailed and distinctive, footsteps are so accurate you can even pre-fire on corners. I mean before i could also hear them but not so accurate, it's crazy. Makes you feel like you are more in the game, having more control over your surroundings and that changes the whole game experience. 10/10

Man i was trying to find problem with why my headset sounding tinny and very bad overall and to say it was all just because the "Dolby atmos" was turneed on the mixamp was the root cause of the bad audio,before i would have it on Dolby atmos on all the time and i would have to switch it to the "Mixamp pro voice" on my pc settings and it cleaned up that ugly sounding tinny sound i had but it still seemed off,but anyways i fixed it from this video and i just wanted to say thanks for that suggestion.
Dolby setting with Dolby software on pc with Dolby access, gives a large improvement to spatial audio, rather than his experience with tinny audio. Also on pc set to 48HKz with 24 bit audio, and tournament mode is best. for gaming music and TH-cam videos lol. Same for console when connecting to your respected console enable dolby output with that mode enabled on the Pro amp.
Ordered the a40s headset last week and sounds fine, but based on this review I ordered the mix amp pro. It arrives tomorrow. I hope I am not disappointed because altogether this was an expensive headset

Seems you don’t touch the point which console players face. Latest console don’t have optical out, how to use the audio extractor and without it, the usb connection produce so far only acceptable sounds only
The biggest problem with those reviews, is that they are never wearing glasses. It would be interesting to know in what manner it pushes your ears ento the branches of the glasses.

I had the same problem. The amp doesn’t turn off by itself when turning off Xbox unless you unplug it. But what you can do is buy a USB hub splitter from Amazon with turn on/off switches. That way you can just turn it off whenever you’re done using it.

Their firmware errors out when trying to update to the latest version. They won't even work on my XBox Series X. I've tried both the automatic update and manually updating. Have a ticket in to Astro to try and get some help, but don't have much help. Evidently this is a common problem having read through things on Reddit. We'll see if their Customer Service is worth anything. Buyer Beware. Wish these reviews would mention this evidently pretty common problem.
Did you find the audio bleeds through to the mic, everybody in my discord can hear my game sound it’s not the greatest, had better results with cheap headsets. Mine are a bit older though with the vertical style mix amp, not sure if they fixed it since then, also a ceiling fan on low speed makes really loud gusting sounds, way worse than every other headset I’ve had.
Can’t use game chat mix with ps5. Sony screwed everybody and only works on sony headsets. They want you to use their products. Too bad Sony headsets are nowhere near Astro headsets or steelseries
My Astro Comand Center does not recognize my A40 PS4 version and when I download the windows 10 version of the comand center it does not open and just says: Please Connect An Astro Gaming Device or Sitch the connected device to PC mode. Then I could hear a buzzing static noise when the headset is connected to the Mix Amp TR, after hours of research online I connected it up to my PC and downloaded there command centre to reduce the side noise which completely got rid of the buzzing noise on my end.. Since connecting back up to the PS5 it sounds brilliant for me but my mates can now hear the buzzing noise when in party chat.. I have researched again to find different solutions and was led to believe if I bought a ground loop isolator there’s a 99% chance it would fix the issue, so for the sake of my friends ears I’ve spent another £15 only for the ground loop isolator to make it sound like Freddy Krueger scratching metal!!! This is not acceptable for a £300 set up, honestly avoid this like the plague its far more head ache than it is worth.. absolutely fuming!!

As an owner of the virtuoso, I have to say it’s by far their worst headset to date, I changed from the Void RGB, and it was a massive step down, the void was the best headset I ever owned and it’s outdated, if it still worked I’d go back in a heartbeat

I'm having the exact same issues. Having used basic Turtle Beach XO4 since their release (basically 10,000hrs or more across gaming and watching movies/shows) before MW2 finally had me decide to upgrade. Even with trying multiple EQ settings, the Astro A40 sound like a £2 pair of earphones in comparison to what I was used to with the Turtle Beaches. None of the presets seemed to make any difference

Red means mute and white means un mute. If they are changing on there own your talkback cable might need to be replaced

on pc u don't need optical..i run these on stereo through teh amp and use dts instead of the onboard dolby ss..dts sounds amazing

It's because they have open back. If you buy a mod kid it includes different earpads that are closed back

Hopefully you figured it out. You have to hold the power button down on the game DAC and switch it to PC mode

Everybody knows the $ is in the mixamp, it works with any headset try it
The mix amp is daylight robbery, it creates a static sound on the headset. Don’t waste your money, by far the worst piece of tech I’ve ever purchased! For £300 I would rather let you hit me in the face with an hammer than buy this wank headset and mix amp! Avoid like the plague..

@@MrAjking808 I do know how to use it, I’ve had it for 3 months and it still makes the same shitty noise when I speak.. it’s not something that I can hear, it’s my friends who can hear it or when I make a video recording I can hear it when I watch that back. I spent hours and hours online trying to sort it and it seems like it’s a common problem with the mix amp as 80% of people seem to have the issue.. it’s wrong to charge £300 for this set up with so many issues..

As an owner of the virtuoso, I have to say it’s by far their worst headset to date, I changed from the Void RGB, and it was a massive step down, the void was the best headset I ever owned and it’s outdated, if it still worked I’d go back in a heartbeat

they are terrible. i dont understand how you think the sound quality is good. my crappy playstation heatset provides far better sound. i cant hear any footsteps or gun shots, bullets dwhizzing by my head in warzone at all with the astro a40
I'm having the exact same issues. Having used basic Turtle Beach XO4 since their release (basically 10,000hrs or more across gaming and watching movies/shows) before MW2 finally had me decide to upgrade. Even with trying multiple EQ settings, the Astro A40 sound like a £2 pair of earphones in comparison to what I was used to with the Turtle Beaches. None of the presets seemed to make any difference
I got a free A40 from Amazon and I wanna keep it but I also got a TB 600 max

@Ky Christell I bought it for $300 and for some reason the payment declined so I just let it be and I never tried to reorder it again and it had said it canceled my order but a couple days later I had got another email saying that my package will arrive on “Friday” and Friday came it actually and my gf signed for it but I was never charged for it
