Just picked these up yesterday. Best headset I’ve had. Wearing glasses while gaming it’s always been hard to play for extended periods. I played for 11 hours yesterday and have no complaints when it comes to comfort

@@coochiescout4394 yea the a40 and a50 do a great job of doing it and if you get the mix for the a40 you can turn up the game volume while you play so it’s good the a50 has it built inside the headset so that’s a plus but if you want to save money I would get the a40 since if you buy it with the mix it’s 50$ cheaper and it lasts a long time as well

I had some A40s 10 years ago and got some again last week, still as good as I remember. I too was worried about the glasses, and was surprised it didn't cause any discomfort.
Just bought these for my kid for Christmas. He's had some TB recons for years! But this year he stepped up in school and in return I let him build his first computer. This headset and dxracer are the final pieces of the puzzle for his set up. Can't wait for him to try this headset.

I just ordered these after gaming 7 years with my previous a40 wich is still extremely good! I love Astro, it’s expensive but extremely durable.

confused do they come out with new generations of the a40s ? or are these still holding on for almost a decade?

@@three3ddd. i got them a few days ago and the only complaint i have is that the wires hanging out of the ear cups(i am scared they might go bad) everything else is perfect

I have the 2019 TR and it's worth every penny. The DAC alone is worth the 200 bucks. I had to use my Samsung earbuds from my phone because my cat had eaten the wire of my Astros for a while until the spare one was delivered, the earbud became a beast using the DAC.
Great review and this is perfect for people coming from A40's with the mixamp who wanted to get a different controller like the Fusion or the Razer Wolverine who only support 3.5mm jack. I have the A40's with the mixamp and absolutely love them but I recently bought the Fusion controller and it doesn't support the mixamp plug in so the only way is to buy another headset (uggghh) but I'm hoping these will be just as good or if not close

I have the original a40's and I love them, But after 7 years...They are getting wore down. Tried so many other headsets and they just don't do it for me. Going to pick up the new a40's soon.

@@TotalGuitar454 well the new gen consoles have 3d audio you would need a headphone that is compatible with the ps5's 3d audio which right now are the steelseries arctis 7p or the playstation 5 pulse 3D wireless headset. No point in getting 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound headphones there proven to not work and more of just a gimmick

I have the 2013 A40s still, but my headset is starting to break. I think its time for a new one. Should I just get the headset? I feel like the mixamp is practically the same thing just with a different design.

So what about how you mute it or how do you turn the volume up without the mix amp? The important things….
Just lift the mic up and it mutes and it unmutes when you put the mic down.
Mine have a red stripe on the side vs. blue. Also, these are WAY lower in volume than my old headphones. Am I missing something?

Say I'm gaming, and vibing on Spotify and I need to turn down the volume quickly because the bro is talking to me, is there a volume notch on the cable or anything? Or do I need to turn it down on the Xbox One's console settings if I don't have the amp? If so, that's shitty.

I just got these and every time I turn on my Series X it doesn’t detect the mic, so I have to restart my Xbox and then it works. Seriously? I don’t wanna restart my xbox every time I get on

@@Meatslapper695The mix amp can increase the volume and has presets, but i use the A40s on Xbox one X and i get surround sound without use of a mix amp because of Windows Sonic. the Mix amp enhances it. I do have a PS4PRo but havent used them with it yet so i cant vouch for the quality there but it would allow you to adjust the volume with the amp.
I don’t understand why all these reviews don’t mention that it’s not plug and play for the expensive price. You need to mode it to work on Console. There are a lot of problems with this headset

Do you find that the ear cushions aren't big ( tall and wide ) enough on the inside and hurts your ears after awhile?

Just replaced my Steelseries Arctis 3 with these. Loved my Arctis 3, but I already had a mix amp and I got them for $40. Fit wise they are way better than my Arctis 3 as my Arctis would make my glasses hurt by my ear and the headphone would slide down since the strap stretched out.
i’m gonna be honest, i don’t know a whole lot about sound quality - all i know is that i want things to sound *good.* while i’m already sold for the most part, i still need to ask one last question before i really sit down and commit to them: what’s the maximum computer quality output for these? i can run all the way up to the lowest tier of studio quality (dvd with a 24-bit stat is all i can remember. i’ll grab the specifics later) on a pair of panasonic wired earbuds you can get for $10. anything cd quality or lower sounds like garbage after that, no matter how nice the headpiece feels or how powerful the tech is on the inside.

Is there warranty on these?
A40 cloth ear pads are not great for extended use. It's held together with adhesive that does not last. The version before TR was much better and to this day the only issues I have had with them were from damage I inflicted on them. They would have lasted forever if it weren't for my mistakes.
I've had a £20 pair of Astro A10 1st gen for like 5 years now and absolutely nothing has failed on them. Only thing padding related I've had an issue with is the padding on the headband being too small and thin. Audio quality is to be expected for the price point and the only reason I'm looking at upgrading.
I'd say Astro is one of the most durable brands out there if I'm honest.
Would these be an upgrade from Logitech's G933?
315 gm headphones gave me a neck ache . Can’t think of wearing these 368 gm headphones .. not sure why they are called comfortable??
Just got my headset today brand new and in the video he says it comes with volume control and an answer/end call button when in reality it only comes with a mute switch

Just do it on your PC. You can lower or high the Volume ond every PC out there

Most likely. I haven't bought them yet, but mixamps are mostly used for turning sound up and down, with a good amount of extra features. I believe they should still sound very good with/without the mixamp. Have a nice day, and I hope this helps somehow!

Yep one of the main reasons I got this headset because my cat had a strange addiction of chewing the cable so yeah you can replace it for like 10 dollars

Not at all. I own these and the Turtle Beach Gen2 Stealth 600. Play at least 4-6 hours a night with metal frame glasses and neither headset gets in the way of putting my glasses on, nor taking them off. I will say this, if your willing to spend $250 on a headset the A40 TR is the way.

Anyone having mic output volume issues with this device? I am not using the mix amp tr pro, just stock headset/mic. I have boosted all windows 10 output for the mic, and still having problems...
Should I buy this without mix amp or some headphones (for gaming) and I would not buy some sort of amp for them, and would like close back over open back preferably. Any headphone suggestions would be appreciated
Hello I would like to help by saying better option for the price are the acrtis pro wired with gamdac or just buy the Astros without the mixamp and buy it after .Also some other options are the acrtis 7,Corsiar virtuoso ,razer blackshark v2 that are amazing,or the logitech g pro x.Hope this helped

3. clearly a good company and best to just buy a40s or a50s because those others will break and you'll keep rebuying them.
Cant go with a wired headset, Ive gotten 2 A50s over the last 6 years and those are my go tos for gaming. Just having a wire on it feels clumsy

I started with Razer Krakens 6 years ago. They just broke in September so I got another pair. Those were broken out of the box, this review has made my decision clear. I'll be getting a pair of these, they're almost $330 CAD but thankfully it's black Friday

@@crudo96_ they are both good headsets but I would go with the Astro a40 because you don’t have to worry about charging and the dongle can be miss placed.
