kaien shiba was like ichigos cool older cousin he never got to meet but always heard great things about
Not going to lie this is a true parallel for my family because kaien is the equivalent of my cousin larry who died in vietnam before i was born and never met him but my dad says he was a great guy

I always thought Kaien's personality was like what Ichigo would be like if his mother hadn't died in front of him and he grew out of being a crybaby. They do have some similar values in their core.

Isshin is Kaiens uncle. Their was a short novel about Rukia and Renji's marriage. In the novel Isshin sent Rukia a letter confessing everything and who he was and told her about his relationship to Kaien.
We learned about him being kaiens uncle when yoruichi brings up ichigo and kukakus relationship to kukaku

@Hakashi Hatake his soul wasn’t absorbed by ariniero, only his memories and body meaning one amnesiac Kaien, the way I see it is that Soul Society is 6 level heaven out of 9 levels, he fights off metastacia himself and resides up top for 96 yrs before being flung through a portal and we have ichigo.

I mean, Isshin also went AWOL and that's a HUGE nono. They have a literal prison for those who want and or try to "retire" from the 13 Court Guard Squads. And he wasn't a random Soul Reaper, but a Captain.
@@kakashihatake6052 Actually, Tsunayashiro wasn't the one who wanted Shiba down. You're remembering novel wrong. It was Central 46. Tokinada actually wanted to restore Shiba's status as a Great Noble Clan.
Nejibana was fr one of the sickest Shikais. The bankai would’ve been some huge ass Tsunami I bet
The Shibas were the only ones who legitimately wanted to make things right in Gotei 13 and this can be traced back to their ancestor opposing the the enslavement and mutilation of the Spirit King, even offering to take that being's place knowing it was a fate worse than death. Kaien's kindness is an extension of that show of altruism alongside his willingness to risk all for his subordinates and family. Ichigo literally continues that golden legacy. It helps they are related according to the recent novels and hints throughout, though they had to cover up Ichigo's mother being a Quincy for fear of riling the other clans.
Isshin being willing to give up his position of captain, and never return to his home to ensure that Masaki stays safe is also an extreme act of kindness consistent within the family.

I don't think the bount arc is as bad as everyone remembers, it's definetly one of the weakest filler arcs but it wasn't horrible.
@@crossin8772 Yeah it wasn't all bad, but it definitely was the buzzkill after Soul Society arc. Everyone was pumped to see what would happen next and we get an arc that was as long as the last 2 seasons combined, that just kept dragging.
@@JakeSmith-mq5dc that was one of the biggest problems, it just went for too long. I think the biggest problem for me was that the bounts didn't fit in bleach. It wasn't a matter of quality so much as vampires didn't really feel like bleach.
20:07 a Rukia and Kaien team in BBS is called "Where the heart lies".
Considering how Kaien's shikai works i can imagine that his Bankai could have something to do with concept of drowning in the ocean. You know, it's pretty interesting death - the deeper you drown, the bigger pressure is affecting your body. You lose breath, your body is immobilized by sheer pressure, finally you get crushed and your body cavities collapse and in the form of silly squeezed out remains you end on the bottom.
Add to that light filtering and fact that sound is moving faster and way further under water and it's pretty scary but beautiful way to get killed, imho very ideal for Bankai and work well with Nejibana's main ability.
I always figured it was just a Water Version of Captain Hitsugaya's Hyorinmaru. Or basically Espada #3 Harribel's resurreccion.
The Shibas were always my favorite characters. I always loved it when Isshin, Ganju, Kukkaku or Kaien made an appearance (I feel like I’m one of the few Bleach fans who really loves Ganju. I just find him adorable. And let’s not forget Bonnie.)
Shiba clan goated, wish we got more of them seeing as isshin is in my top 3 favourite characters
From Gotei squads the 13 squad is underrated
The problem is that it can't be because they never do anything
The only notable members either died
Don't do anything (captain or his two attendants who don't do shit ) or in Rukias case eventually go on to do their own things
Making the squad pretty unnoticeable and by design not even mentionable

Menastacia's ability to straight up yeet zanpakutos out of existence is op as fuck. It's lucky no other Hollows had it.
Imagine if that hollow took over Kenpachi. Either he'd die early, become a pawn for Aizen, OR just straight up TOO powerful for it.

To be fair, we never truly saw Kaien in action. He had to fight without his zanpakuto to defend himself, so he was kinda fucked to begin with.
Considering his family's specialty of fire works, it would have been awesome to see waterproof fireworks being thrown around by his Shikai.
Bro Ukitake was already considering promoting Kaien into a CAPTAIN while also retiring himself. You have to remember that he was fighting a hollow with his bare hands without thinking due to his rage.
So he was fairly strong. We never saw him in action, hell for all we know he MAY have even unlocked bankai and, considering he was a shiba clan member, he may as well could've.
But knowing Aaroniero landed in hell, and he probably kept his powers aka Kaien's powers, it's very possible we will see a rematch between Aaroniero/Kaien and Rukia, with Aaro potentially unlocking Kaien's bankai. It's a rematch too good to not happen.
Kaien’s bankai would probably be like Komamura however water based. Or it could be like Shusui’s were it floods the area. Where he became an advanced swimming.
Byakuya avoided/ignored Rukia cause she looked so much like his wife & probably as nice as her it would be hard having to see her feel its her but then remember shes gone.
Ir would be like dating a girl with a twin sister & she passes everytime you see her sister it will remind you of your girl.
Yesh it would be a messsed up dynamic, but he was so cold to her it came off almost like hate. Dude was intelligent in warfare and royal ettiqute, but he was completely inept in when it came to interpersonal empathy.
Be was fine seeing her as rukia was around ealry on. It's more so his duty that he broke for his wife that lead to him being so distant as he had to uphold the law since he broke it twice. Once for love in his wife and another time for rukia because of his wife again.
Plus we see in story he never changes his attitude seeing her and she was his pride in the fear battle whenever he wasn't certain he could win he would think of her so no it's not rukia looking like her sister
Kaien was a very interesting character. His speech about the Heart meant a lot to me and it's a quote on my personal facebook.

I would've loved to see some more of Kaien fighting as himself, so we could see his true skill that made him a lieutenant.
Nejibana is the most underrated zanpakto ever!! I'd probably choose that if I was reborn as a Soul Reaper... Tridents are just too cool as weapons and I'd love the power to control water!! Aaroneiro was such an awesome concept for an Espada wish we got way more with his story he' soooo fun to play in the best Bleach PSP games: Heat The Soul 7. Kaien/Aaroneiro needed more screen time !!! ;[

You said that Isshin was just a member of the Shiba branch clan and not a direct relative of Kaien but Kukaku and Ganju both referred to Isshin as Uncle so I hear you addressing this and it appears that you just explained and solved this for me and he is their Uncle but still from the branch family so I'm good. Kaien was a genius, he was the only character until Gin to basically speed blitz through the entire Shinigami academy's Six-year course in two. According to Ganju, he had lieutenant equivalent power upon entry to the Academy and became an _actual_ Lieutenant only five years after graduating.
In Turn Back the Pendulum, its implied that Kaien could've been a Lieutenant even sooner based on Ukitake's dialogue saying more or less 'why do you keep refusing? I'm starting to take this personally'.
In the Light Novels, Ukitake wanted Kaien to take command of the 13th but the poor dude died only days before that was supposed to happen.
One theory I pick up and run with is Aizen _arranged_ Kaien's death (by targeting his wife, thus spurring the K-man into a grief-filled revenge spree) because Kaien was one of the biggest threats to Aizen's rise to power. That he had the skill/power/potential to par Aizen pre-hogyoku shenanigans. And as a wielder of a _genuine_ water-type Zanpakutou (perhaps the strongest water type in SS) - Kaien would be able to call bullshit on Kyoka Suigetsu's supposed 'water' nature, blowing the lid off the masquerade before Aizen was ready to make his move.
IMO, Kaien shouldn't have died... at least, he shouldn't have remained dead. He should've been one of the Visoreds. Maybe even one of their high ranking members, or even the Shinigami who _taught_ the Visoreds (back when they were implicitly just humans who obtained Shinigami power through hollowfication) how to use their Shinigami sides in exchange for being taught how to handle his hollowfication.
Or the Aaroneiro fight could've been a chance to legitimately bring him back, but as a different traumatized individual. This time make it Rukia who has to help HIM find his equilibrium again and work through his trauma of being a Hollow's puppet (maybe with baby cousin Ichigo helping him get hollowfication under control).
Which would be a nice inversion/switch of their previous dynamic. Rather than being the teacher and support, this time Rukia is supporting and helping him find his footing again. You could still have Rukia become Captain of the 13th at the end of the story, but with Kaien serving as her Lieutenant signifying that she's stepped out of his shadow and is now leading their division into the future.
Really wish your theory on Aizen killing Kaien on purpose was canon lol. Aizen’s past is seen in flashback arcs, otherwise it’s when he’s directly asked, like when Toshiro finds him in Central 46 or Ichigo during the Fake Karakura Town arc. We never get a chance for anyone to ask him about Kaien so your theory is possible honestly
Technically, if Aizen knew about Mimihagi within Ukitake then maybe he was the target all along. But it’s also interesting that his created hollows wound up attacking Kaien Shiba, Isshin Shiba, and Ichigo, and that Aizen despises the nobility.
Could’ve been interesting if Kaien took Shinji’s role roughly as the leader of the visoreds. His interactions with Ichigo and Isshin would’ve been sick to see

I’d think his Bankai would be something like Hallibels release. Releasing a lot of water, sucking that water in when he spins it and then thrusting it in front of him, above, etc, causing a huge wave of thrusting water to attack.

Honestly i could see kaien's bankai being kinda like yamamoto's or Toshiro's where he just has reign over all water. So he could make like water armor for himself or generate waves and waves of water. Or shoot pressurised water blasts/blades. That kinda stuff. Either that or it just turns him into aqua man

It's not revealed what event lead to the Shiba Clan's fall from grace, but it may have been Isshin's abandonment of his post as Captain that lead to the Clan's downfall as that's more of a punishable offense.
They lost their head and Isshin. They fell from a lack of political power in noble society
As far as the Isshin relation, I think in one of the anime episodes (possibly a filler actually) Kukaku mentions the Uncle thing but I could be thinking of the manga chapter you mentioned.

I don’t know if it was mentioned in the series but in the film with rukia being taken hostage it says once you die your soul is recycled and your back in world of the living so I think when Kaien died his soul went into ichigo and that’s why they are so similar and how “souls are connected so even after we die we will meet again” I think was in the film? Anyway so kaien died and his soul went into ichigo and off course he meets rukia

I hope I'm not the only one who never noticed that Kaien was supposed to resemble Ichigo. Like, I only found out after Tekking brought it up in a past video.
I legit did not know even long after finishing the anime. And I was like "when are they gonna address the plot point of foreshadowing who Ichigo resembles?" And then later I was like "wait, it was Kaien this whole time??? Well, now I feel really stupid..."

You should do a what if video on Ashido Kanō. I wish he was cannon. I really liked his character and was a more memorable part of said arch to me. Kubo was gonna make him cannon which would have been a treat.
Got to be honest, it's been so long I completely forgot this guy existed.
Oooh Bankai ideas😍 what if Kaien gained some type of sea serpent or Merman/fishman Armour? Gaining a Lance and shield having the armour emitting water profusely while fighting. Or maybe just the complete opposite of Yamaji and his Ryujinjakka🔥😍his bankai just spewing out oceans uncontrollably 🌊😂 I wish Kaien became an actual arancar instead of dying and having his soul taken.. it would have kept his character alive in a unique way and make him stand out as a shinigami. He dies being a shinigami but flourished as a hollow🤷🏻♀️
