@@dungeonmaster3464 I wonder if Zenjoji created the Gigai. It would be a theme of progression. He creates the Gigai. Kirio creates the Mod Soul which can move a Gigai. Kisuke created an untraceable Gigai. Mayuri created an artificial life using a Gigai. In a couple hundred years the next Captain can advance it even further.

A little trivia about a couple of characters here:
- There was a character called "Gyōkaku Kumoi" in the filler arc of Shusuke Amagai. Entetsu Kumoi who was squad 9 captain 1000 years ago could be related to the Kumoi noble family in some sort of way (as shown in that filler arc).
- Also, "Sakahone" is a district in the outskirts of Rukongai as mentioned by Ukitake in TYBW later when he's performing the Kamikake ritual. He mentions that this is where he was taken as a child to have his disease cured. Coincidentally, Sakahone Saizo and Ukitake are both captains of Squad 13.

He published this one shot almost 2 years ago, he didn't even released second seasons of BTW which was almost 3 years ago... so yeah, I don't know if he is cooking anything.

The whole Yachiru having the scar during the war against the Quincy might be a mistake from the animation department, just like Komamura not having his helmet on all the way back when Isshin was a Captain.
he didn't just not have his helmet on but he was in his fullbring arc outfit lol. That and the scar are definitely a mistake.
I think I remember hearing about how they fixed that in the DVD version.

Mayuri: his fighting is rather barbaric but my god is he dripped out.
Something that occurred to me about Chijiro is that, instead of "mist", you could probably also translate it as "fog".
So you'd have the "fog of knowledge", or "fog of wisdom", which would explain why he looks so tired. He's lost in the fog of his own knowledge.
I feel like Shunsui purposely joins squad 8 for their Captain. His two lieutenants who came after also look like her. Wouldn’t blame him is she was the reason behind his womanizing and his sword spirit who looks like you combined the Glasses and Eye Partch girl.
The two I'm most interested in are Katori and Sakahone. Katori is drawn as having a very "innocent" appearance, and as we all know, the ones that look the most innocent are usually the most dangerous. Sakahone looks like a sickly old man, but we also thought the same thing about Ukitake, and he was a genius. Could it be that his sword sucks the youth and life energy out of the people it kills, and the sword release is he becomes infused with all of the stored energy.

I'm really fascinated by Saizo Sakahone too. Very creepy vibe about him. He was was already so ancient in an ancient time. I really wonder how old he is and what he's seen. Also I think someone else pointed this out but district 76 of the Rukongai is called Sakahone which where the Mimihagi shrine was.
I kinda have a hard time imagining Mayuri being inspired directly by Uhin, he just seems like a big Kenpachi-esque head-busting guy and Mayuri tends to look down his nose at that kind of thing.
The design for Nobutsuna is easily the most fascinating to me. So many details, such a menacing appearance. I need to know more
I'm all about Katori and the field days artists have had with her
There was once a wanderer who was tall and thin. He typically wore dark clothing and wielded a glimmering sword. All those who crossed him met a swift end. To worthy opponents he would raise a finger and a dark energy rope would strangle and rip them apart. To the strongest they would be annihilated by several dragons made of reishi. To his friends he was known as Nobutsuna. To his enemies he's known as Desumeiji the God of Kido.
If that's a canon character then that's dope. Having a complete master of kido would be super cool.
I'd be interested in Chika's zanpakuto, since we have yet to see any Shihoin zanpakuto release.
Kenpachi looks like someone's crazy uncle. Nobustauna looks like Kepnachi's crazy uncle.
If the original Gotei was so strong, then what happened to them? 🤔

Yes, more Bleach content!! I know this is being greedy, but I wish we had had a "Turn Back The Pendulum" style mini arc for the OG Captains. Give me character personalities, quirks, new fighting styles,, Shikais, Bankais, you name it!!! XD
It would be epic if we got a Bleach movie about them.
if you look closely at that pile of bodies in that flashback you'll notice there's a decent amount of dead shinigami in there too
I hope we see all the Bleach lore covered in the anime.The Original Gotei 13,the noble houses and how they came to be,Soul King and many more.The Manga ended so prematurely imo.
I was thinking about the ending to... IMO the series is far from over. Remember what Yhwach told Ichigo after he defeated him? That in his happiest moment he will be there to crush him or something like that. & the fact that there was a 10-12 year time skip before the "end of the series". Bleach is too good when it comes to lore & anticipation.

Furoufushi is a common 4 kanji phrase, that as you noticed roughly mean undying and unaging. It basically means immortality. I agree it's very unusual first name and raises some questions why she was named like that or if maybe she picked that name for herself, to boast about her abilities or something. Kinda gives me the vibes of nicknaming yourself "The Invincible" or something like that. Or Kubo just thought it was cool .
Here are some interesting facts.
2nd div: All the members of Shihoin has a number in their first name. Yoruichi (夜一) has one (一). Yushiro (夕四郎) has four (四), and Chika (千日) has a thousand (千).
6th div: Yes, you're right. Furofushi literally means not aging and not dying. Furofushi is a common phrase. Btw, Kuchiki literally means rotten tree. Maybe there's some connection.
8th div: In Japan, there are Ise Shrine, Kashima Shrine(鹿島), and Katori Shrine(香取). Batsu'unsai Katori(鹿取)'s characters are taken from Kashima Shrine and Katori Shrine. And Nanao Ise(伊勢)'s name is clearly taken from Ise(伊勢) Shrine. Maybe there's some connection.
13th div: East Rukon District 73 is called "Sakahone" and it is where Mimihagi-sama is enshrined. Perhaps there's some connection to Ukitake.
the ise shrine is also where i believe they house the yata no kagami which is the direct influence of the ise clan's zanpakuto. So maybe katori's zanpakuto will also have a strong real world influence based on the shrine.
38:25 - Yamamoto founded the Academy 2100 years ago & that's the earliest date we have with a definitive distance in time from the beginning of the story.
38:32 - Wrong! The earliest she was shown was 1000 years ago shortly before this battle when Yama recruited her. He's well over 2100, while she's simply well over 1000.

Furuoki is the one that gives me the creeps the most he just seems like a creepy serial killer. The others may look crazier but they don't creep me out nearly as much as Furuoki

I always wondered, if Yamamoto was so strong and blood thirsty as Yhwach said how come he was never considered a Kenpachi? He seemed way stronger than Unohana tbh
They might have been savage but I think they were still acting on orders, they were just ruthless. Unohana was the most brutal serial killer in Soul Society history. She had a bloodlust to just keep killing. Like in the flashback when she met Kenpachi. The guy she was with said she was out here looking to kill so she could be satisfied. Yama might be stronger but his entire desire wasn’t for killing. I also thought the title of Kenpachi was given to the soul reaper who craves battle the most. Idk if that made sense or not 😅
@@kiraa175 i mean sure but they always seemed to imply that the Kenpachi title was given to the strongest Shinigami at the time, since Yama was clearly stronger idk why he never got considered for it
I don't think Yamamoto was stronger. At least not back then. Not only was the entire theme around Unohana's battle with Zaraki about him taking her mantle as the strongest. Not only did Central 46 order Yamamoto to stop training him, meaning they didn't trust Yamamoto to control or subdue him if necessary, but Yamamoto received a permanent scar from Chojiro's newborn Bankai while Unohana only ever received 1 scar which was from Zaraki himself. And don't forget, Chojiro, even by the Soul Society arc, was fodder to Base, barehanded Ichigo. Still a mere Vice-Captain reiatsu wise. Going by how Ichigo dealt with him and the fact he didn't get the Captain's ritual in the hell chapter
If you think about it, there's actually nothing saying Yamamoto was stronger than Unohana. Even his own words about no one being born stronger in the last 1,000 years wouldn't account for Unohana or anyone born before that. At best, we have Yhwach saying Yamamoto kept the original Gotei in line, but that doesn't necessarily require him to be stronger than them. After all, we saw how Nanao could make Zaraki back down and follow orders when he originally wanted to ditch them and keep looking for Yachiro.
The only thing we know he had above her was his Zanpakuto's destructive powers as they were second to none. It was Ultimate fire/Combat type Zanpakuto

All three questions can be answered for the manic gremlin Furofushi, she immediately stole my attention when I saw that spread, and boy do I wanna find out more about her. Although Chika seems like he would have the best screen presence, as his face and outfit make him seem like a mischief maker and would probably be a good source of gags if we ever get a proper flashback to the old era of the gotei, so I'd like him to get the most screen time if we got all of them for a bit of time.
My favorite character designs of the group are Shigyo Nobutsuna, Saito Furofushi, Katori Batsu'unsai, and (less popular than those three by most it seems) Izuhara Kinroku -- I actually really like his plain-ish and stern look with the glasses and his sealed zanpakuto being a wakizashi and he looks badass slitting throats!
I would love to see all of these characters' abilities if we ever get a continuation of the Hell Arc. Other than Yamamoto and Unohana the only zanpakuto releases that we have even the tiniest bit of information about are Kumoi's and Katori's whose shikai states (but not necessarily abilities) we see in the color spread and flashback part of the episode. I really want to see all of them now! 😅
Also, _The Blade Itself_ is so damn good! The First Law series is some of the best works of recent fantasy and Glokta is one of the best characters in the genre!

I agree with you Tekking Batsu'Unsai is my favorite, and it isn't because of her assets, I just like girls with Glasses, also her Shikai is cool. Nobutsuna also looks awesome and also terrifying, if you saw him approaching you, you would either Die of fright or run away. I have seen a lot of Art of Furofushi and Nobutsuna just hanging out and just giving each other the look of you wanna fight lol.
Shigyo Nobutsuna, since his first name translates to "Warrior Chivalry Rope" could be more pirate like in the way he was written. Seeing him for the first time in the spread picture, my first thought was that of a vicious pirate that Yamamoto recruited.
Man I hope kubo decided to continue the story with the hell arc because there Soooo many stuff that went unanswered

Furoufushi looks more like Hiyori with longer hair than Riruka.
Furuoki kind of sounds like growing a specific kind of plant to me. Both by sound and by putting the kanji together. Or maybe even rolling a rice ball together (if not for the rain). That "narrative" is very interesting, I can't help but think of marking something, making notable change. A plant grows by rain and effects it's surrounding, and it's growth could be quite special.

I don't think the Shihoin guy was the clan head. It's stated that the Clan head was the leader of the Stealth Corp, and it was Yoruichi who was the first to be both the Commander of the Stealth Corp AND a Captain. This is probably more like if Yoruichi were the Captain of the 2nd Division and her brother was the head of the Stealth Corp.
Also, I think it makes sense for them to be part of the Gotei 13 from the start as the Shihoin clan was the defenders of the realm. They were the ones protecting Seireitei before the Gotei was a thing, so it would be odd if they didn't have a representative as part of the new organization.

When I first saw the design of the captain of squad 9 I imagined he was a predecessor of kurotsuchi who had performed surgery on himself removing his lips (like the assassin in Hell boy) and also possibly his eyelids

I like to believe that Sakahone Saizo was Yamamoto's mentor back in the day and when forming the Gotei 13 Yamamoto pulled him out of retirement out of respect.

Sakahone Saizo could have the power of paralyzation and finishing paralyzed opponents.
My head canon of Sakahone is that he was Yamamoto's master and he never learned bankai but mastered his shikai.
Uhin is an ABSOLUTE UNIT.
