Being a working mom during sleep regression is horribleeeeee and I only got through it by the grace of God. But thank you so much for making these videos. You are so real and down to earth and genuine. Helps to know we are not alone during these rough but rewarding stages of being a mom

Your video gave me some hope! I work 8 to 5 going through this 4 month sleep regression. It is miserable. I live on caffeine and have plenty of shower time mommy breakdowns with lots of tears.. lol

I work a full-time 9-5 type job. I went back to work at 3 months. My daughter went through a 4- and 6-month regression. All I can say is that I suffered at work during those times. Find a caffeine source that works for you. I will say I wish I had gone to bed at the same time I put my baby down around 7:30. She had a tendency to sleep for a few hours before the hourly wake-ups started. I should have tried to sleep during the first stretch! As she eased out of the regressions and started sleeping longer stretches, I actually woke her up (like just got her up to feed and do a super quick diaper check, no lights and commotion) at 11. That feed and a dry diaper would get me about five hours of sleep before she would wake again. (I breastfed as well.)

Firstly, I just want to say I love your videos! 💛 and to your question- i don’t know how I am surviving working full time and managing this regression. I type this as my little guy is up in the middle of the night. Our minds are pretty incredible - all I can say is somehow, I am managing to do it. Just starting to pretty much feel like a zombie at work. It’s really hard but like someone also commented knowing that this means soon my little one will be sleeping through the night and I won’t get my midnight snuggle sessions, helps me to embrace the middle of the night wake ups. Even though it sounds crazy, I think I’m going to miss them when they’re completely gone. With that said I REALLY miss sleeping 🙃😴

    • @ayanabenjamin376

I get you. The sleepless nights are a bit like spending one-to-one quality time with your baby. As sleep deprived as I am, I also feel that I would miss the midnight snuggles. Something about being the only two people awake in the world, and often, being miserable together, makes for a special time.

I am a working mama! I went back to work when Ewan was 9 weeks. My MIL would come over and do night shifts! My husband and I also would tag team if I couldn’t do it anymore. I didn’t breastfeed due to severe postpartum depression, so it was easy for feedings (the baby Brezza is the best thing ever!). Ewan woke up twice a night when I went back to work and started sleeping through the night at 3 months. It was a huge blessing!

Bless you, sweet mama! my babe just hit 4 months and I've been anticipating this milestone. You're doing a wonderful job! I think my baby girl is teething though and not going through the sleep progression yet. It's so like having a newborn again! She won't go to sleep on her own right now unless she's just over stimulated or in the car! Thank you for sharing your thoughts

Also looking forward to sleep training tips. I know that there's no one solution for all babies, but I'm interested in gathering up all the different ways to then choose which to do. Wilson is soooo cute :)

Currently have a newborn who was born 9lbs and man has he progressed quicker than a normal newborn! I’m talking like the second he was placed on me after coming out, he lifted his head and stared at me and then when he was being cleaned, he flipped himself over. I only swaddled him for about a couple weeks before he got too big and really took to sleeping on his side. He turns a month this Sunday but he’s already getting too big for his bassinet and I’m hesitant to put him in the crib 😭 but I’m gonna try to keep him in it until this sleep regression thing kicks in. Your videos are super helpful and I’m following right along!

I’m SO glad I found this video! I have 4 kids. 3 girls; ages 15, 11 & 6 and 1 boy who just turned 4 mo last week. And let me tell you.. this boy is NOTHING like my girls were!
I had never heard of sleep regression before until now! From his 2mo check up to his 4mo check up.. it had been a LONG 2mo! 😩 all the day time fussiness and not knowing of it was my milk bothering him, maybe he was t getting full, tried formula & didn’t make a difference.
About 2 weeks before he turned 4 mo I noticed a change in his sleep behavior & went on google and learned about this dreaded SR! now he’s waking every 2 hrs during the night. He only takes 20-30 mins naps during the day. I never swaddled him as a nb-2mo bc he didn’t seem to care for it. But now I’m thinking of trying these sleep sacks!
I am in the same situation where he currently sleeps in a bassinet in my room but his crib is in the same room as his 6yo sister. I haven’t yet transferred him to his crib bc I wasn’t sure how to do it with her sleeping in there as well. I can not wait for it to end!

I haven’t gone through the sleep regression yet, but it is gonna hit us in a couple months! I have been told that the best thing you can do to help baby through this is to help them learn to put themselves to sleep at bedtime. Having a solid bedtime routine and doing your best to get baby to a place to put himself to sleep independently (laying him down while he is still awake) could potentially result in fewer full blown night wakings. I am hoping it helps us when the time comes!

I know you said you guys have gotten through the 4 mo regression, but I wanted to share with you a “group” on Facebook that I joined after having my little one. (He is 3 months and my first so I had no clue there was so much to learn about baby sleep)
The group is called “Respectful Sleep Training/ Learning” and it has ALL the information I think anyone could possibly ever need. There are a ton of sleep guides for babies out there that you have to pay for (which is crazy) but this is obviously totally free. I have seen sleep training while room sharing with other kids on the group before so I thought you might find it helpful! 😀

Will you be talking about how you do sleep training? 4mo sleep regression hit our house hard last week! We’re still working on it, but we have him in a zipadee zip and it’s helping! I’m planning to move him to his nursery and start sleep training in a few weeks when he turns 5mo.. until then, COFFEE!!

My little girl is about the same age as Wilson! I agree, it is a PROGRESSION, not regression! She is learning how to put herself back to sleep at night, praise the Lord! But we are still struggling with short naps during the day. But for perspective, they will all grow into well-adjusted, sleeping young men and women before we know it! And we will miss snuggling our babies. So Im trying just to enjoy every waking moment with her....even at 3am :)

My baby just turned 4 months(she was born at 36 weeks, I don't know if that effects anything), she refuses to sleep anywhere but with/on me for naps and nighttime. How do you get your baby to sleep on their own?? I just don't understand how others do it. If I put her down for sleep she fully wakes up and wont sleep unless I hold her. I never planned on cosleeping but it's the only way I could ever sleep...

I’m in the middle of the 4 month sleep regression and we’re working in shifts. Dad does middle of the night and sleeps into the day. Mom wakes up early and does the morning feed and gets to nap in the afternoon to catch up on sleep. Works for us! Trying the Merlin sleep suit and he’s still fighting sleep. He’s 5 months next Thursday so I’m not sure it’s worth it to get a new sack. We’re just trying to stick it out ugh

Love this video, something I'm confused about as we are going through the 4 month sleep regression is, do you put him to sleep directly in the pack n play(what we use as well) or does he sleep on you first and then you move him to the pack n play. Our son won't sleep unless he is on us.

I'm back to watch this a second time as yup, you've guessed it, sleep regression has hit us hard. Wanted to ask if there's any correlation between difficult night sleeps and day naps. My son, who's 4 months, has been sleeping terribly at night, but then, thankfully, he sleeps like a little angel during the day for about 2 hours each nap, 3 times a day. I can't daily naps in myself as most of them are at awkward timings.
Also, at bedtime he's so difficult to console, he cries and straightens his body out and doesn't want to take my breast. I keep on thinking it's teething as when I rub his gums he calms down, but his guns are pale pink, not red or swollen. Advice would be much appreciated! Xxx

I don't know if this will help or not or how your routine already is but my son is 4 months on the 7th of Jan. And so far I have found I make sure he has a feed 1hr before bedtime even if he had just had one not long before that, then I give him a nice warm bath and a good relaxing massage then Into his pjs and off to bed. Bed time is 8pm every single day! No matter where we are or what we are doing and I have found it all helps and he sleeps for 8-10hrs at night. I keep things very bright and noisy during the day so the longest he naps for is maby 1hrs but most times it's about 30min and 3-4 times a day and very dark and quiet even leading upto bed time. So that might all help. Also depending on how you feel about it but one of my friends use to give her daughter a small top up of formula before bed, she was breastfed but had trouble sleeping at night and that one bottle just helped her sleep abit longer at night as she was more full for longer. Best of luck hun, hope bubs settles for you soon.

@@sarahwedmaier216 thank you Sarah for your reply. Sounds like you've got a great routine and I really appreciate the advice. Very good tips there, and yes I'm currently bathing him every night. Feeding him formula is off my list as I aim to only breast feed for as long as I can, may start weaning him off at 2. The changes I also made was I introduced the swaddle back to him. He used to hate being swaddled, always squirming to get out. I tried on 3 sepreate occasions but he wasn't having it. Now he loves it, it instantly comforts him so he begins to self soothe. Unfortunately I know I can't keep it up for long, and I'm always watching out for when he starts rolling, so for now he's safe. I also have tried to put him down while still awake and I just sit next to him with my face turned away from him, most times he drifts off to sleep. In regards to his naps, he likes his 2 hour naps, the times he's had 30 mins naps he wakes up irritable. I've started putting him in his baby cot, for naps not just at night so he becomes accustomed to the sleeping environment. I'm happy to say that all of this has helped him and hubby and I get our sleep back. He wakes up around 3 times now in the night, which I what he used to do. It was a dramatic change, the first night he was swaddled was the first night he slept as he usually does.
The one thing I want to establish is a constant bed time. I find that every night differs as it all depends on his last nap. How did you overcome this with your little one?

I really liked your video!! Thank you for the encouragement. I just wish bed sharing wasn’t included (400% SIDS increase). Swaddling also stops at 8 weeks or the first signs of rolling. There’s some great groups on Facebook that can support you during rough sleep patches while still staying safely apart from your baby at night. I really liked your video, I just wish bed sharing didn’t seem like the only option for parents (it’s not, I promise).

When my baby wakes up at 4am and won’t fall back asleep I usually put her in her swing with a video on the tv because then she will fall back asleep, but I feel like this is something I probably shouldn’t be doing? I don’t know if it’s something she will become dependent on the be able to sleep? Or if it’s just more about doing what I can to make sure I sleep and she sleeps?

I’m in the exact same position! We’ve tried sleep training but unfortunately our baby has gotten ill on all 3 occasions we sleep trained and had to start again! From scratch currently on the 4th attempt to sleep train it’s really hard!
