petition to raise enough money to get gus on the uncle stan show as a top tier $10,000 contributor. i wanna see him perform a “special talent” on the show
"Imbiamba and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Flower" "While searching for a rare flower for his shop Uncle Stanley meets a daring adventurer who will unlock the secrets he needs to save his business." This but imbiamba accidentally gets them tangled up in a crystal meth drug ring.
I feel like a show centered around Stanley wouldn't work because Stanley was much more of a deadpan-humor/straightman side character. He just doesn't have the energy and charisma needed to be the lead on a sitcom.
Yeah, I agree. He’s one of my favorite characters in the show, but his character revolves around dry humor and his funniest lines are in reaction to other goofier characters like Michael and Dwight. And he’s also kind of just a depressing character in general.
^ He hates his job, he references divorce a few times, he’s the happiest he ever is in the show when he’s almost laid off, he has to put up with Michael’s shenanigans and rude comments, I’ve always just felt bad for him.
I listened to an interview with Rainn Wilson where he talked about milking the character of Dwight to make as much money as possible, and donateing every single penny to underprivileged kids in developing countries. If you look into his charity work it's pretty amazing.
When I was watching this video I thought of his Instagram where I saw him selling all his merchandise centered around Dwight, I thought that seemed kinda sad until I saw this comment, that’s incredible the man is a treasure.
The “Uncle Stan” Kickstarter feels like Leslie David Baker made some Cameo/Fiverr vids upon request and now this dude is using them for a kickstarter scam.
at first glance it’s possible, but Leslie Baker did an interview about the show which knocks out that theory. www.google.com/amp/s/www.etonline.com/the-office-star-leslie-david-baker-on-kickstarting-his-spinoff-uncle-stanley-exclusive-149503%3famp
I think a lot of this honestly comes from the fans. When your only fans are from this one insanely popular show, they will only follow you and only expect you to be that character. I guarantee that people are still asking John Krasinski about the office related things despite him doing many other successful projects since. People will beg for reunions even decades later.
This is a consequence of how American TV is made; to run a show indefinitely so long as the ratings are not terrible. Soon as the ratings go down, maybe you will have time to write a conclusion, maybe not. Actors become their characters after pumping out season after season, so even when they are cast in other projects they are often portraying the same basic character.
And this folks is why you leave a show at its peak instead of sticking it to the end. Steve Carell did himself a favor leaving the show at the peak of its popularity. Jumpstarted his movie career instead of being stuck as Michael Scott.
WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! Let me get this perfectly straight: You comment something that is completely unrelated to the fact that I have two HAZARDOUSLY HOT girlfriends? Considering that I am the unprettiest TH-camr worldwide, it is really incredible. Yet you did not mention it at all. I am VERY disappointed, dear cozen
I’m glad that Leslie David Baker is pursuing new projects, but I feel like his character wouldn’t do well with his own show. Stanley was funny because his dry humor played off of the goofier characters like Michael really well, his funniest moments in the show don’t really work without another character. And also there’s the fact that he’s kind of a depressing character when you think about it. If he made his own completely original sitcom, I would definitely watch that.
If it was just a short season long thing of the camera crew trying to see what he was currently up to and him becoming increasingly done with them it could be fun.
I imagine the aftermath of being a popular but not extremely important character on a long running show is a tricky thing to navigate. Because you’re not a big name high commodity celebrity but you’re also instantly recognizable, so you’ll likely have to work really hard to get new parts without either being typecast or just rejected outright. I think with that negative experience towards moving forwards and the constant positive feedback on the previous performance then leaning into it is the natural choice.
Yeah those videos didn’t feel the same, bit it’s hard to tell how much the actor adds onto the writing. And part of what made Stanley good was he wasn’t supper invoked all the time. I think that type of charter just doesn’t work as well as a main character.
@@rezanajdi6165 exactly what i was thinking tbh, and just from the clips leslie's posted you can tell "Uncle Stanley" won't be nearly as funny as The Office
Yeah, the podcasts seem to be just like some cool content that fans can hear to know more about the show and the merch stuff is giving the fans some cool clothing related to the show to raise some money for charities (idk if they give all the money away, but I think they at least give some of it)
Using kickstarter while being a character of one of the most successful TV shows sounds like very amateurish, under-baked last ditch effort to milk some more money out of the "glory days". If he has a solid idea which can actually sell, Hollywood or heck even Netflix can fund them. But they don't have a clue what they have to do
I think that's because Stanley really wasn't in the show a whole lot, it was mostly glances or one liners. Even when he has a main part in an episode, he doesn't actually do much, like the one where Dwight sedates him and he slides down the stairs lmao.
When Angela stopped by to visit our school, she mentioned her and Jenna were fast best friends. Dunno about the others but their podcast just sounds like best friends reminiscing and nerding out with other like minded folk.
Exactly, like you said Angela and Jenna have said they are best friends that literally talk everyday. Seeming that they spent ten years of their lives on this show, and for at least 8 or so of those years they were best friends, it would seem odd if they didn't ever talk about the office again.
If they're such good friends why wouldn't you have them discuss other things than a show that ended 7 years ago? 200 episodes of just office talk? Why not have them talk about literally anything else. Look at gus and eddy, best friends making conversation as a podcast. Wouldn't it be way less interesting if all they talked about was videos they made together
@@charles7412 because that's what people know about them and that's what people tune in for. I'm sure that if they want it to be sustainable they will eventually branch off to other topics but right now the only unique thing about their podcast is their experience with the show.
That Uncle Stan show is proof The Office fans are willing to pay for anything Office related. I'm obsessed with the show but I'm not hyped for this at all.
I agree. I love the office it’s the best show I’ve ever watched, but I don’t think a spin off who’s main character is a side character from the original show isn’t gonna be good
I'm an actor/creator in London and I used to work (behind the scenes) on Harry Potter films and even tho the movies ended 10 years ago, I can see so many actors, small actors or even EXTRAS who used to work on HP movies and now travelling and promoting their unnamed characters, attending some weird conventions and selling pictures of themselves as the characters (in costumes) for like $50 with their signatures... It's like the only thing they have ever done. But, then again as long as it makes them money and they enjoy it who cares.
Harleydroxy Chloroquinn have you seen how people from Star Trek and other fan bases just roam around doing fan projects for like 500$ and sandwich? Jeremy Bulloch (played Boba Fett) did a random fan project for Mark Twitchell. Mark Twitchell later killed a man pretending to be like Dexter. Which goes to show you small actors/extras will do anything for anyone
I see what gus is saying but to be fair most of the actors of the office were never really commercially successful after the office, excluding John Krasinski and Steve Carell, so the office is really all they have to show for. It’s kinda sad but I would probably do the same thing if my only successful job was such a beloved hit.
I think a big thing is most of them were typecast. Like Jon Krasinski is married to Emily blunt, so that would lead to definate connections hahaha, and Steve carrell was already established pre-the office. If you only have one big role you risk being stuck to that role (see big bang theory or star wars)
@@nashferguson450 hahaha I moreso meant look at them as examples (no one in big bang theory or the original star wars trilogy could go near any other role despite their success) but glad to hear you enjoyed them! Hahah
That’s not Stanley, that’s just Lesley trying to do an impression of Stanley and failing at it because he only ever gave one-liners and had great writers working behind him. That is Stonley.
Okay but can we admire Ellie Kemper? She wrote a book, & was the star of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, & she was able to move on from the Office & star in movies like Bridesmaids
I think it's important to understand that a lot of these actors' careers didn't go anywhere after The Office, that this was their one iconic role each of them had, so it makes sense that they would want to attempt to hold onto that whether it's so that they can feel their acting careers have brought purpose to their lives, or for financial reasons due to said lack of work thereafter. Personally I CONSTANTLY see online voice actors do this all the time, and I'm fairly certain it's common in the regular film/television acting industry as well. Not a fan of it (especially when actors get a touchy ego over their one big role), but I can see why most one hit wonder actors turn out that way.
really only John Krasinski(Jim) and Steve Carell(Michael) went on to succeed. Funny enough they are the only ones that don't keep talking about the office.
My girlfriend's favorite show was The Office. She was chronically ill and didn't leave the house very often. As soon as the last episode ended, the first one would start up again. It was an every day thing in my life and became one of the things we bonded over the most. She passed away a few years ago and I couldn't bring myself to watch it anymore. Well, then I heard that Jenna and Angela were starting their podcast. I decided I would follow along and watch each episode and then listen to the podcast. Then all the sudden I had watched the entire series again. I love that these people love talking about the office and it means so much to them because it does to me too.
Hey, I am so sorry about your loss . I wanted to add something similar here too- I have really bad epilepsy to the point where I will I have seizures for several hours. I, like your girlfriend, I’ll do the same thing in the office, where I will get to the end of the year show and then start it again. Obviously, it just was getting redundant and so I stopped watching it. Used to really help me with my depression and my sense of loneliness and isolation from having to stay in bed and rest after having the seizures.I was so happy when podcast came out because it gave me a reason to start watching the episode together. And listening to the podcast is like sitting down with two friends. I love it! I totally understand why you and your girlfriend loved it so much, I am so glad that you are getting to relive what you shared with her. ❤️
Apart from Leslie, it seems like the actors from The Office are friends with each other and they do these projects because they genuinely care about the show. Office Ladies and Brian's podcast aren't just cash grabs; they just are also making money because they're about the show the actors are famous for.
Stanley is only funny when he plays off of other better characters like Micheal or Jim or Dwight. A Stanley show is going to be a terrible and I plan to steer clear of it. I mean they cancelled a Dwight spin off cause they didn’t this he could carry a show. If Dwight can’t Stanley sure as hell cant.
It's like the spin-off show "Joey" of just Joey from Friends. Only fits one role in entire cast that's needed to make the show work. If the whole thing is just Stanley hating everything and not being enthusiastic about anything other than going home or pretzels, it gets really boring.
I feel like John Krasinski is sort of an outlier here, since he's kind of just doing his own thing and doesn't seem too focused on holding onto his past work on The Office. I mean, he knows it's a part of his life, and he's not trying to make us forget. But some of his recent work has been fantastic without trying to make it about The Office.
Everyone else were mostly nobodies that happened to be in the show, John was probably the only one in the “unknown” bunch that managed to make an actual career out of it
correct also Gus fails to see that the show is pulling in a younger generation of viewers who love the show which validates the actors from wanting to capitalize on the show's current popularity
I watched the office ladies podcast and Creed and Angela Kinsey are actually neighbors, and Jenna Fischer (Pam) and Angela have been best friends ever since. This video was NOT it
tbh I'd probably do the same thing if my show that ended 7 years ago is arguably still the most popular show around also: we need to see you in that writers room haha
The podcasts are weird. They spent years saying they wouldn't do anything Office related but when acting gigs dry up and it blows up on Netflix, they come full circle again.
jenna and angela post a lot of office memes now because they started the office ladies podcast, i guess. they didn't talk about it that much before and their ig stories are still just about their lives and them making bread, talking about their hairs, children, the books they're reading... i listen to all the episodes and they're so corny and sweet, it's actually very lovely. they drop so many behind the scene nuggets, answer fan questions we wanted answers to for years, and conduct informative interviews about how production works, props, filming, what kind of notes they got from directors... i love that podcast. the rest seems very forced, which is sad.
I would just follow up in saying Brian Baumgartner's podcast is very well done as well. It's done very differently than Office Ladies in a "documentary" type format, with interviews woven within the episodes to tell the history of the show (hence the title of the podcast). I think a lot of people wrote it off as something trying to copy the success of Office Ladies, but it had been in the works for *years*, and it shows in the production value of the show. It's not just a puff piece, either. They get into the downfall and difficulties the show had after Steve Carell left, which was interesting to hear from people that worked on the show at the time.
Yes. The episodes come out Wednesday and its either Tuesday/Wednesday youll see Office stuff. Jenna also probably talks less about the office and has had two shows that didnt work out, because casting couldnt see “Pam” in those roles. Its other people who cant get past the office.
I'm so glad you brought up The Lorax because now I'm legally obligated to remind everyone in this comment chain that Ed Helms (Andy from the Office) was also the voice actor for The Onceler
Jo I’m so glad you brought up Andy from the office because now I’m legally obligated to remind everyone in this comment chain that Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) went to Cornell.
I haven’t been paying attention to any of the other projects mentioned in this video, but I have been listening to the Office Ladies podcast, so I feel like I can talk a little about it. I really enjoy it, Angela and Jenna go through each episode and talk about their memories, answer fan questions about specific moments, talk to the cast and crew to get extra insights, etc. I’m sure money was a factor in them deciding to start a podcast, but they put time and effort into it and it feels just like two best friends having a fun time and sharing stories (which I guess it is). I’d recommend it if you’re a fan of The Office and want to hear some fun behind the scenes things
Honestly, I’m kind of over it. I think they’ll improve in the future, but right now it’s mostly suburban mom chatter. I also find it off-putting how they constantly say they are best friends and overuse the word “lady.” There are some interesting tidbits in the episodes, though, so it’s not all bad.
Kinda reminds me of Fake Doctors Real Friends, with Zach Braf and Donald (Phason?) rewatching Scrubs. They have had like every major cast member on so far, it’s a pretty fun listen all be it a bit annoying at times
I've been loving their podcast. You should also check out The Michael Scott Podcast Company series. They're pretty funny and It's not linear so you can just pick an episode you like.
Creed has had a music career since the 1960s so im glad he's still making music and he has tried to distance himself from the Office at his live show to make it just about the songs afaik
My mom was friends with Andy Buckley in college and was even in a play with him. He's super nice and really down to earth. Seems like he's thankful the Office gave him the boost it did, but has moved on since.
I follow him on IG. He said how The Office was much more popular than he first expected. His acting was not a main focus of his early life. He started in his early 40s.
Johnny Allen Shane Prater bro if you don’t believe an actor for the office went to college with someone’s mom, I imagine you must have a pretty boring life lol. That’s not even an extravagant claim..:
@@LordR0ku It's not even like they're still friends. I've never met him, she's just said that they were in Hair together and he played her boyfriend or something like that so they had a few romantic scenes so my mom knew him pretty well. Hasn't spoken to him since, I just think it's a fun tidbit especially since Andy Buckley didn't get into acting until much later. Cool to see actors before they were actors.
Let me get this straight: You comment something that is unrelated to the fact that I have two DANGEROUSLY DASHING girlfriends? Considering that I am the unprettiest TH-camr ever, having two hot girlfriends is really incredible. Yet you did not mention that at all. I am quite disappointed, dear qny
I disagree, I am personally a fan of their podcast, so I am definitely biased, but I think it hasn't only recast old things, many things they talk about are new facts about the show that haven't been mentioned before.
Smaakjeks K it’s a common term referring to “jocks and cheerleaders” who’s greatest years/achievements came from high school and they’re constantly trying to relive those days
Dude, literally, ive had the Exact thoughts about the office cast, like i feel sorry that they depend so heavily on this one project they did but at the same time, i guess i can see why? Since they and so many people loved it so much? I dont know, i do cringe everytime i see it though, and i dont think ive seen this happen with other shows no
I cringe too, but at the same time I can’t really blame them. Some of them have tried to do other things, but the fans only see them as their characters from the show. I feel bad, but it seems like some of them are having fun with it. At least the cast of Friends actually did big things after the show ended. This cast hasn’t seen that same success
>I don’t think I’ve seen this happen with other shows Seinfeld, maybe. But that has more to do with the supposed curse than anything. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and of course Jerry, have probably had the most success with new projects post-show, but Jason Alexander and Michael Richards...oh boy, they probably do a lot of reminiscing.
I actually saw Creed do a show. He played some originals, a Grass Roots song and a song about the office on top of a bunch of little comedy bits. It was really great tbh
I'm thinking about starting my own "The Office" podcast. What makes mine different is I've never actually seen the show and only know about it from people who talk about it a lot.
It's the first time I've ever seen a straight up comedy cast hustle like this, but within the sci-fi and horror community these things are pretty widespread. Basically any production that gets close to classic "nerd culture" will see some of its actors try to extend that fame into other opportunities: conventions, merch, fan projects, whatever. Star Trek for example is NOTORIOUS for it's former actors doing literally everything you just talked about. Here's a list of unofficial movies/shows some of which feature real cast members en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_fan_productions Here's a podcast by 2 dudes who had reoccurring roles in Star Trek: Voyager that's about them watching Star Trek: Voyager mobile.twitter.com/TheDeltaFlyers Here's William Shatner's crazy ass website where he's selling literally EVERYTHING including his own Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame award www.shatnerstore.com/ If you remember the movie Galaxy Quest it goofs on them pretty good for it. Personally, I have no problem with these actors reliving the glory days. It might hurt their chances for new projects (who wants to work with someone who CONSTANTLY obsesses over their previous roles?) but generally speaking it's all in good fun, and they wouldn't make the stuff if it didn't have an audience.
I think that last part is a vicious cycle. No one wants to work with them because they're only known for one thing, so they amp up and squeeze that thing for all it's worth, so no one wants to work with them, so they do it more.
this comment is great. there's so many small actors that have been in one big production like game of thrones or sth for example and all they will do is just go to conventions and charge 50$ for a picture and a photograph
Yeah, his character was hilarious because of the contrast with the show. He can't just shift that character into an entire show, it would just be boring and awkward.
My favorite thing I read was Fischer in an interview was like “John and I had this really close chemistry and in some ways jim and Pam will always life on😍” and John krasinski was like “yeah we were just acting for a show. Nothing at all”
That's all played up. She said something like "the part of us that are our characters love each other" and John said something in the spirit of "I don't really feel that exactly" but the media made it seem like he was genuinely off put as if she were confessing love and he were rejecting it. It was much more tame and irrelevent.
Manny yeah I bet they smashed and she kinda held on to that and John Krasinski just kinda regretted it, if you see the way they act in real life they really aren’t compatible at all but Jenna really seems like the kinda girl who just crushes on the guy she can’t have
I think the reason that most of them are “milking the office” is because they can’t get any other roles because they are known as that one office character
Carlos Zavala Siudingo is saying that Gus has the type of personality to watch the Office not saying the people who don’t watch the Office have a personality lol
What I'm getting from this is that Lesley Davis Baker got in deep with his bookie and is now essentially being held hostage to make a show so that his bookie can make their money back.
Sometimes at his concerts, back when those were a thing, he'd play the office theme song and obviously everyone gets hyped. Its one of those things that isn't desperate, but more wholesome.
The best parallel I can draw is this: It feels like people who are WAAAY to obsessed with their college. The kind of people who are always wearing college sweaters and talking about how it was "the best years" of their life. It's just like... Maybe look forward to something, or you're going to spend the rest of your life thinking you peaked. And you probably didn't.
@@princeby-tor1484 Yeah, Ed Helms, Steve Carell, and I forget the name of the guy that played Jim seem to be the only ones who moved on. And I suppose the actress that played Erin as well.
It really me caught me off guard. It's actually funny and making it seem like an audition also tells the audience that he's doing it for the money. Love the transparency and delivery.
This is a joke but I've always thought it would be really funny if two completely unrelated shows just randomly linked their universes the way Marvel stuff does. Like just imagine if you were watching Breaking Bad and Walt ends up in the hospital, and it turns out that he's in the hospital from Scrubs and JD comes in and has a wacky back and forth with Turk or something. How incredibly, mind-bendingly jarring would that be? I wouldn't know what to do, but I would be thoroughly entertained.
Rain Wilson kind of has the opposite problem where he has all sorts of other great projects but you go in his comments and literally the ONLY thing you can see is really cringey Dwight references
I dont really see it that way. Personally, I want them to do new shit for me to drool over instead of milking the same one hit wonder for several years
Yeah, I think Jenna Fischer's 'okay, I'll talk about The Office for the next several years' podcast came only after her ABC sitcom got canceled. She seems like a nice person though!
i feel like Stan can never be a real person. his whole character was like an “Anti-Michael/token sassy black character.” He never had any depth so trying to create a person out of an empty character just seems... inauthentic... desperate, even
John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, Ed Helms, Ellie Kemper, and B.J. Novak have all moved on from the Office. Rainn Wilson is still milking it but for a good cause Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Phyllis Smith, Oscar Nunez, Paul Liberstein, and Leslie David Baker are the has-beens.
When Steve Carell finished the 1st season he said to the cast "This is what we'll be known for the rest of our lives". Explains why theyre still doing that.
it's just weird to see the actors' identities still so wrapped up in the show years later. The David Wallace business cards are wholesome because they're just jokey, that's cool
but people ask them about the office 24/7? i truly don't understand what you guys want lol. like would you rather them be an asshole each time they get a question about being on the office?
Bruh Bruh i don't see it as "keeping their careers afloat" though. they're literally giving fans what they want. if it's their only big role then they should be able to milk it if they want. people are obviously interested.
Worst part is that they are milking their legacy but aren’t making any new office, like the Parks and Rec cast have moved on, they work on new things and when they did start getting nostalgic they made the Quarantine special, the Office cast are definitely getting nostalgic, but that’s all they are doing
Many of the things talked about in Jenna and Angela's podcast are new things, and sometimes it's not even office related, for example one week they talked for about a half hour about game of thrones when it was a thing. Most of it is office related, but it is much more new information about the creation, and the behind the scenes of the Office.
Magicman432 It’s just kinda sad the show is just then laughing about the episodes they made, it’s just then reliving the glory days, I stopped listening to Office ladies like 2 episodes in
Office Ladies is for the nerds who want to know every little thing about behind the scenes of the show I personally love it like sometimes they mention the most mundane things like the shoes they wore and I love it. Also there was a scene that was filmed with Jim making out with Karen that has never seen the light of day because Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant didn't like it. Little things like that I love about their show.
@@fernandoruiz7713 Then, you haven't been listening to the office ladies. You can't say something is bad after only two episodes especially since now they are about 35 episodes in. Look at the first season of the office, arguably some of the most cringey and awkward television in existence, however after that it is one of the best comedies to exist in TV history.
It's gonna be a huge scam but no one will care since he's black and we know how protected blacks are now.. + the liberal retatds from reddit collected all the money for the show, and they are gonna be all about it , if it's ever gonna start
I feel like if Uncle Stan comes thru, it's going to bomb the same way that "Joey" bombed (The friends spinoff) The sad part is, the Friends spinoff was actually endorsed and written by the original writers and producers of Friends while Uncle Stan is a blatant-money grab- at best- and i wouldn't doubt it will premier on TH-cam if they cant find real network for it and there wont be more than a few episodes (5-10) and it will flop. I also believe the 320k they banked will be majority profit and very little goes to actually funding it.
John Mulaney is one of the funniest men currently living on the planet. His sitcom, "Mulaney" is one of the worst reviewed shows of all time and I don't even think it got through its first season. It's crazy how people can hit and miss in comedy despite obviously having talent. It's such a fickle thing.
I actually really like The Office Ladies Podcast. It’s neat to hear about little facts about the episodes, and hear the stories from the cast members, writers, directors, and prop masters. But I also enjoy listening to commentaries on movies. It might not be for everyone, but I feel like they’re doing a good job and it’s entertaining. And there clearly must be a demand for it since it’s doing so well. Can’t speak on the other projects though lol.
I like Office Ladies, I do, but 90% of the questions asked are "was that improv?" and the answer is almost always no because they had amazing writers. So it gets a little repetitive and I'm really only interested in what their guests have to say now.
I enjoy their podcast, listen to it sometimes when I sleep. It's fun and interesting but sometimes it gets annoying when they go off for 15 minutes mentioning the characters hair and what clothes they're wearing in each episodes, I sound mean here but really who cares about that lmao.
@@delcidkidv250 The Good Place one is literally The Good Place: The Podcast. That one is held by Mark Evan Jackson, he plays Shawn. That one was made when the show was going so it had that as an advantage. The scrubs one is Fake Doctors, Real Friends hosted by Zack Braff and Donald Faison. I like it but sometimes they go too off the rails. It's fun banter but sometimes they don't get to the episode until 30 minutes in
Every time I hear someone say something like oh I can’t imagine (x office actor) playing any other role, he will always be (y character) to me I sympathize. Must be rough moving on when everyone sees you as this one thing and can’t even imagine you doing something else.
Nevermore they did move on. All of them didnt want to talk about the Office until the show made a huge hit; now they want to talk about anything Office related.
i could barely watch those clips of leslie, the show literally sounds like a fake one. also funny how the first clip of him is so unbelievably expository and on the nose lmao
Felt like Cameo clips for someone's birthday. "I would wish you a happy birthday, but I don't know you, and I don't care." He'd do great at that if he doesn't already.
danehb89 he does cameo already, and it’s not even like that. like most celebrities on cameo, he just rambles for a minute wishing happy birthday or whatever, and makes it painfully clear that he didn’t plan beforehand what he was going to say
@@hoardofjules it feels like his acting has gotten worse or something? maybe it's just the combination of the writing and the fact that he has to do a monologue with a camera 6 inches from his face but it was so strange...like someone was doing an impression of stanley from the office for halloween
right! i really respect that daniel radcliffe went on to do theatre, and even though he’ll always be known as the harry potter guy he seems to want to be known as more! (also love ur username atla is bomb)
@@danielg2009 Yes! i feel like the office cast could definitely extend to other forms of theatre/film but they're stuck to the show. on another note, yes, daniel radcliffe is actually amazing, I loved his character in Kill Your Darlings
Apart from the Uncle Stan show, none of this bothers me. They’re actors and work isn’t always available, so why not make some money in between gigs talking about a show people are still obsessed with 15 years later? Also, they all seem to have genuinely loved their time on the show, and loved working with each other, so their fervor doesn’t feel fake to me. If they can pay their bills while making fans happy in the process, I don’t see the harm in it.
Absolutely. Audience appeal aside, these are real people with bills and a need for shelter and sustenance. Most of them do not fit the optics of what makes a successful Hollywood actor/tress. I wish more of them got more opportunities.
@@PrometheanFlame Maybe they don't fit the "optics", but if having been on a widely syndicated network tv sitcom doesn't pay the bills from your residuals cheques, you need to change your lifestyle and stop living like a rockstar. I bet they're each making 80-150k/year from residuals.
@@shaggy0917 I don't know exactly how residuals work. But isn't it possible they decrease over time with each rerun? So the money wouldn't necessarily be the same each year or equal for every actor on the show? Do you know how much they make in residuals? It's possible some spent a lot of money as for many of them it was their first popular role. But also we don't know if they weren't in debt to begin with since many were paid very little at the start of the show. fr I don't really like the office but the fact that people are still so near feral love for this show to this day is the werid thing, they should absolutely milk the fuck out of it. Except the Stanley thing lol sounds weird
Personally, in "pam"'s case, I think the reason she posts so much The Office-related content is because that's what most of her followers know her by and care about. Of course, I have no inside info about it. That's just what I always assumed.
If you listen to Jenna and Angela’s podcast they frequently talk about how close the cast is and how the show is a huge part of all of their lives. They are all incredibly proud of the work they did. I see nothing wrong with them talking about the show or doing side projects related to the office. There’s a huge market for it. I say let them cash in on their success 🤷🏻♀️
Right lol ? I see what he's saying but... there was a huge following for it. Star trek isn't still airing but there's a big fan following. I know that's a bit different but.
At least a few of them do, if you ask me. Particularly Jenna Fischer. As somebody who has obviously never met her and therefore knows nothing about her personally, therefore making my opinion meaningless, she strikes me as the type who smiles and acts all sweet on the outside, but is secretly really eaten up with the direction her career went after the show ended. I feel like she might just have some demons. Just a feeling.
Peyton Alexander Out of the rest of the office cast she has been one of the more outspoken ones in Twitter about the whole thing, so definitely possible

I feel like a show centered around Stanley wouldn't work because Stanley was much more of a deadpan-humor/straightman side character. He just doesn't have the energy and charisma needed to be the lead on a sitcom.
That’s where lucky comes in. Played by Kevin Hart.
I was thinking that. I love Stanley as a side character.
Seriously, just think about that awful Joey spin-off of Friends. It doesn’t work without the cast

I think a lot of this honestly comes from the fans. When your only fans are from this one insanely popular show, they will only follow you and only expect you to be that character. I guarantee that people are still asking John Krasinski about the office related things despite him doing many other successful projects since. People will beg for reunions even decades later.
So pretty much what happened to every single bit actor from star wars
Until he's Mr. Fantastic
Fans are still desperate for a renuion for "Friends". The fans for "The Office" have a lot of ground to catch up
This is a consequence of how American TV is made; to run a show indefinitely so long as the ratings are not terrible.

The typecasting thing is absolutely true for Angela. In almost all of her roles since the office, she's played a bitchy, WASPy character.
A great actor would use that as the stepping stone to jump start their careers. And also don't forget agents play a huge role too

@@rezanajdi6165 exactly what i was thinking tbh, and just from the clips leslie's posted you can tell "Uncle Stanley" won't be nearly as funny as The Office

The Uncle Stan scheme is the only thing that seems weird to me here. Everything else is basic convention circuit fare.
Exactly, like you said Angela and Jenna have said they are best friends that literally talk everyday. Seeming that they spent ten years of their lives on this show, and for at least 8 or so of those years they were best friends, it would seem odd if they didn't ever talk about the office again.
You're right Angela and Jenna are best friends. It's a shame everyone is ragging on them.
If they're such good friends why wouldn't you have them discuss other things than a show that ended 7 years ago? 200 episodes of just office talk? I think a big thing is most of them were typecast. Like Jon Krasinski is married to Emily blunt, so that would lead to definate connections hahaha, and Steve carrell was already established pre-the office.

The Office cast reminds me of people who peaked in high school.

Don't forget about their agents. It's probably the main reason why they didn't have a great gig
Same! I thought I was the only one. I loved the office but they're really beating a horse that died 8 years ago. Well at least they're successful
>I don’t think I’ve seen this happen with other shows
Seinfeld, maybe. But that has more to do with the supposed curse than anything. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and of course Jerry, have probably had the most success with new projects post-show, but Jason Alexander and Michael Richards...oh boy, they probably do a lot of reminiscing.

Here's a list of unofficial movies/shows some of which feature real cast members
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_fan_productions
Here's a podcast by 2 dudes who had reoccurring roles in Star Trek: Voyager that's about them watching Star Trek: Voyager

Here's William Shatner's crazy ass website where he's selling literally EVERYTHING including his own Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame award www.shatnerstore.com/
If you remember the movie Galaxy Quest it goofs on them pretty good for it.
Personally, I have no problem with these actors reliving the glory days. It might hurt their chances for new projects (who wants to work with someone who CONSTANTLY obsesses over their previous roles?) but generally speaking it's all in good fun, and they wouldn't make the stuff if it didn't have an audience.
It is kinda sad after a while when you see genuinely good actors just get stuck in one role though like Shatner with Kirk
Not gonna lie, that’s pretty cool and if I had any amount of money I’d buy his award.
SPEECH 100
I think that last part is a vicious cycle. No one wants to work with them because they're only known for one thing, so they amp up and squeeze that thing for all it's worth, so no one wants to work with them, so they do it more.
this comment is great. there's so many small actors that have been in one big production like game of thrones or sth for example and all they will do is just go to conventions and charge 50$ for a picture and a photograph
