At 64 I am in no way ready for the perm and blue rinse. I work in a demanding and image conscious industry and love being part of it all. Grooming is absolutely VITAL! Thanks for the encouragement
Totally agree with you. I’m 78 and am happier and more confident when I look my best. Skin care is so important but makeup is truly transforming at my age.
LOVE THIS! We are the same age, and do I remember those white boots. My mother used to say, 'if I were your age, I would buy a pr of those boots!" She loved them.. I never did, but I did everything else. ;) Biba was my favorite, and of course mum would make me Mary Quant dresses, false eyelashes always, it makes me smile to see the younger folk now thinking they invented false lashes..no way, we have the 'make up' cornered in every way. Enjoying your tips and I need to remind myself always to straighten up! I feel the same about barrel legged jeans :) but I always wear what I feel looks good on me, regardless of age, I love clothes, and always will. Excuse us, Anna Wintour editor of US vogue is older than us, tell her she can't or is 'not allowed' to wear certain things! Ageism in all its forms makes me SO crazy! Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much Bridget! I loved Biba so much - it was one of the first brands to produce darker lipstick for us darker haired girls, and the clothes 😍
I am nearly 60 and still have very nice toned legs. Therefore, I feel great when I wear a mini skirt of a reasonable length, and my husband still thinks I look good too! We all have a part of our body to highlight, along with a grace, wisdom and beauty that comes along with the privilege of getting older!
Completely agree with all that you've said! And I think shorter skirts can look fab - in fact I've recently bought a couple of dresses which are just above the knee 😊
As they say, "you are right on the money". Even if you have aches and pains as you age, having a positive outlook makes everything much better. Thank you Dez
Oh yes sit up straight. My mom said that all the time. Now I am saying it to my husband and kids. And now I am sitting up straight lol. I can't understand how women can walk around with out a bra lol. I will sweat under them and just so uncomfortable lol. Mutton dressed as lamb lol. The last one is spot on. Nothing better looking than confidence. Thank you Dez these are great tips.
Loved all your tips, Im 69 next month you have all the same issues as you myself, especially hair. Im so pleased to find someone who talks about what we are really experiencing at our age and you have a fantastic positive attitude which I try to emulate everyday but find that some of my friends dont feel the same way as me. Really happy I found you XX
Great advice , Dez. It feels like a fine line betwrrn embracing aging and just letting it all go. I think you are doing a great job showing the balance.
Oh my, some advice that reminds me precisely of my mother! Even to the invisible thread. She really pushed posture. I agree that spending a little time putting oneself together is worth the effort. Texting with thumbs, not sure, lol. One suggestion, if it's affordable for folks, men or women, is to do teeth whitening. Makes a big difference in how one presents.
Oh gosh, teeth - my top set are mostly crowns so happily stay fairly white - let's not talk about the bottom ones which are a work in progress 😉but completely agree!
I was sold on Roxstarmom when I first saw her without makeup and apply all her face from step 1. She looked 20yrs younger!! She still coloured her hair blonde then, but I think her 'Silver Fox' hair is just as attractive.❤
🌟🌟🌟Your advice regarding a BETTER (fitting and shaping) BRA is the paramount…all those sport bras sold on tv do nothing for the mature figure…or the younger figure either‼ Great reminder about making a great first impression…always‼ Gladys🇨🇦Toronto🇨🇦Canada🇨🇦
As usual spot about the big books hanging😂😂😂I am 75 I had a breast reduction aged 55 it was fantastic for about 10 years. They have stayed smaller but the sag is back which is okay. I so agree about dressing well find your style I keep a clean silhouette no extra frills.I wear good fabrics so I forget my clothes when on. Smile smile smile❤❤❤
I saved up for a breast reduction and had it at 30, yes, they've sagged a bit in the 35yr since but the weight off my back and shoulders has been wonderful!! Recommend it to anyone with huge heavy breasts!!
HI I have not received your notifications for a long time but today I spotted you. good tips video and I always say "never forget that young girl inside of you"
Thank you so much Connie! I don't know what's going on with TH-cam notifications right now - everyone seems to be affected! Anyway, glad you found me again and happy Sunday ❤️❤️❤️
Dez! I am working on this exact video… mind are shaving my face to keep it exfoliated and smoother, trimming my eyebrows with scissors because they are now growing crazy in some areas and not growing in other places… and brow fill in… using color correction on my eyelids to cover veining, checking ourselves in a magnifying mirror before going out… we might be surprised and skin hydration cannot be over emphasized, including exfoliating and moisturizing our lips! Great video ❤
Aww thanks Mona! Can't wait to watch yours! There's been a discussion in the comments here about shaving v plucking 😉 - I'm also a shaver, but unfortunately I plucked one hair and now the pesky thing is so coarse 😱
I've been considering shaving my face, but I've been concerned about the regrowth. Now, I'm going to go ahead and do it. I'm sure it will improve my overall complexion. So, thank you for talking about shaving. Also, every tip you gave is true. I following them all at 74 and feel and look younger than most women my age.
Thanks so much Kath! I would give the shaving a go, but do make sure that you use the right type of razor and maybe do a test patch just to see how it feels ❤️
It’s interesting when people make comments like, “What’s wrong with getting old?” when, in reality, most people aren’t thrilled about looking older-just as few people are genuinely happy being overweight. If you’re going to be offended by a discussion like this, why even click on the podcast? Often, it's those who are quick to criticize who seem overly concerned with others' lives, rather than focusing on their own.
Thanks for the pep talk. We do need to be reminded of these things every so often, as I type this with my index finger. I must learn to text with my thumbs! 😊
I just happened onto your channel. I liked and subscribed. Truly valuable information! I'm 78 and will always care how I present myself, not to impress anyone, but just to feel good about myself. I see many ladies far younger than myself, who are overweight, who dress and look frumpy with no make up or self-care and I'm perplexed about why they don't take care of themselves. I remind myself every day to stand tall, choose healthy food and keep a positive attitude. It IS my job to stay as healthy as possibe. Taking pride in how I look is for ME, but has rewards. I love it when people are shocked by my age because they think I'm at least 10 yrs younger than I am. I still work 20 hrs a week and have a great sense of humor, so that keeps me involved with younger people plus keeps me connected socially. Thank you for your great, realistic and genuine pep talk! 💖 😊
Oh that's great to hear! Staying connected is really important and it really does help to keep us well both in mind and body. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond - and have a wonderful rest or your week ❤️❤️❤️
Oops, you certainly reminded me to sit up straight! I’m 71 and did recently buy some carrot jeans from m and s. I think they look awful on me but at least I tried! I’m definitely not a ‘typical’ 71 year old. The dry flaky skin I am struggling with as I’m using Tretinoin and I keep peeling 😮. Every time I think my skin has settled it has another peeling session😖
Maybe add a physical scrub in the rotation?? Either an ex foliation face cloth (which I use, but they are harder and harder to find when they wear out), or the creams with little granules that give your skin a scrub as you rub it in....shower and come out fresh, sometimes a bit pink and glowy, so not if you're going out! Xx
Texting with your pointer finger says OLD!! Although a challenge in the beginning with a lot of mistakes, I now use my thumbs. It just looks younger to text that way!!
So well remember slouching to try and hide a developing bust. Now I have osteoporosis and I'm even more stooped ! We used to have deportment classes at school. I always wear an underwire - except for the couple of months that I was recovering from cancer surgery, and don't feel right without one. Skin care is essential, as is a decent haircut, and groomed nails. I do a dermal planing every couple of weeks - but why do you say not to pluck the stray chin hairs? Definitely agree with having a positive attitude - although this is not the day to even try to think positive.
Thanks Fiona! I would steer clear of plucking - I have one pesky hair above my upper lip which I tweezered years ago and it's the only one which grows back coarse! And yes, not the best of weeks, agree 😉❤️
You are looking particularly lovely today Dez ❤❤ and yes, it's a privilege to get old, that not everyone gets.... but there is aches and pains, wrinkles and greys, a bit of body shape change....and yeah, there's nothing worse than 'mutton dressed as lamb', we don't want to be 60 trying to look 16 (like poor old Madonna!).... but we don't want to be 60 looking like we're 80 either!!! If you can be 80 and look 60...you have hit the mark!!🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯 and yes, Helen Mirren is a very good guide.👍👍👍
Well done Dez! Enjoyed it as usual! I instantly sat up straight! What you said about attitude is really the most important bit. You certainly don’t look 70! Like you I’m a big fan of Sandra Sallin. I actually found your channel through her. She really embodies the PMA you talk about! 🌹
Hi Dez! These were wonderful tips and my favorite when you were talking about fashion “that’s BS!” Lol! You always make me laugh! I just love you! Another great video my sweet friend!❤️
Thank you so much for mentioning me and my channel. I must say you look particularly gorgeous today. Love your makeup. Love your eyelids with that shiny eyeshadow. Must look into it for myself. I agree with all you said! Must remember to sit up straight.
I will indeed - I have a winter skincare video planned so I'll do it then. I simply cleanse my skin at night then do the razor and then apply moisturiser - no tret or actives that night ❤️
I just discovered you and enjoyed your video. Good reminders and advice. Looking forward to other videos. And a question-why shouldn’t you pluck if just a few random undesirable hairs? Turning 70 in a few weeks, G-d willing. Thank you for your video!
Thank you! On the plucking issue, I have one hair above my upper lip which I plucked about 10 years ago and it's the only one that grows back coarse and black! So I only use a little razor for my peach fuzz/stray hairs, and they don't grow back any differently ❤️
I love your makeup and hair! Very sophisticated. I totally agree with you. I'm 75 and still loving my leather jeans so much I ordered another pair this year. Skincare and makeup, weight training and Pilates are my hobbies as are keeping up with the latest art house movies and new restaurants. Agree about travel too. Covid got me out of the habit. We used to try to get to a new US, Canadian or European city every year but haven't since the pandemic. We're slowly inching our way back.
Thanks Andrea! I need to take up weights again - literally and metaphorically 😉 Been wondering about a pair of leather trousers - might give them a go 😊
Dez, you made me tear up (and straighten up haha) talking about posture. I hear my mum and grandma. I.. musnt... cry ! Your lovely ! My english grandparents helped a latvian couple settle here in Sydney who became life long friends until passing.
You look beautiful. My family is from Latvia as well. Eastern European women are blessed with high cheekbones. Love your eye shadow. I’d like to try an eyeshadow just not quite sure how to apply it properly . I’m 63 and I feel 40. I love fashion and like you I make sure I don’t look like mutton dressed as lamb 😱. Bad look lol. I embrace technology and I find joy getting to know younger people and always make an effort to chit chat in the elevator with them and every one really. I refuse to become quiet and bitter. Let the world see and hear me! Looking forward to more of your videos ❤
Thank you so much! I think with eyeshadow, we just need to play around with it - it is tricky, especially when wrinkled 😊 - the great thing is, we can always wipe it off and start again❤️
Great video Dez, and good reminders of important points I'm going to pick out a more supportive bra this morning I have them but have been wearing more comfy ones of late. You look particularly lovely today you really suit your hair style. thank you so much X.
Hello my gorgeous friend. TH-cam isn't notifying me of your videos along with others. Ugh. I'm guilty of not standing up straight. I blame it on my boobs pulling me over! LOL Seriously, without a bra, I am down to my waist. I remember my mother having me balance a book on my head. No one would ever believe that you're 70! You are beyond gorgeous. Thank you for such great tips. Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon. Lots of love. ❤❤
Afternoon darling Rene! Now that's odd, this notifying thing, because I watched Angie yesterday and was a bit puzzled by her comments. When I log in, I first look at the Home page, and then at my subscriptions, so I do see if someone I've subscribed to has uploaded - I think! Anyway, let's hope whatever's going on doesn't last long 😉 I remember the book balancing thing too - that's probably what we did in the modelling class. I vaguely remember something about how to get out of a car modestly - honestly, hard to believe now! Have a wonderful Sunday, it's drizzly here in London town 💙❤️❤️❤️
@beautybydez it is odd about the TH-cam algorithms. I'm not getting alot of my most watched TH-cam channels. It's quite frustrating. Seems like every time that they think they're changing things for the better, it makes things worse! I think my mother wanted me to be less of a tomboy! Having 2 brothers, I was always following in their footsteps. I played in the mud, walked around barefooted all summer, and rode my bicycle constantly. I don't think balancing a book on my head was going to change me, LOL. Then of course, I discovered boys, and my tomboy era was over! 😅😊💝
I sleep in a soft bra after reconstruction... trying to keep my one boob pert...and I damp my face with a sprat befire apply moistriser... it makes a difference the product sinks and doesn't sit on my face and make me sweat. Love your guidance particularly about grooming....
Thanks so much! I have a non-wired bra video in the works - but in the meantime this Uniqlo one is quite good: go.shopmy.us/p-7373222 - but it's a top with support. I have been known to suffer from "underboob" when wearing it, though 😉
I think they can look great! I bought some from Amazon but I couldn't make them work - they were the ones you insert into your bra straps - I will investigate further!
Just bought 2 real nice bras. Yes, they make a difference 😊😊😊😊😊
My mother used to say all of these points. Dress well, present well. Manners. Posture.
At 64 I am in no way ready for the perm and blue rinse. I work in a demanding and image conscious industry and love being part of it all. Grooming is absolutely VITAL! Thanks for the encouragement
Thank you!
Totally agree with you. I’m 78 and am happier and more confident when I look my best. Skin care is so important but makeup is truly transforming at my age.

The best makeup is makeup. A smile is good at any age.

Old school advice for an old girl! I'm 72 and have lived by these rules for years. Thanks...

Ive learned tech too.
Thanks for your advice Dez, even younger we never moisturize enough...you look stunning !
Thank you so much!
Sparkling Dez! Such and inspiration here as well as on your recent travel video which I'm going to watch again! And yes you do look fantastic!
Aww Sian, thank you ❤❤❤
Great video! Greatings from a 60 year old „girl“ from germany.

This makeup look is particularly beautiful today and the reminders are always appreciated. 💖
Thanks so much ❤️
I've just discovered you and was very interested as I'm a similar age and would hate to ever be defined as 'Mumsy!' Good tips, thank you.
Thank you!
Thank you for your incites. To me you make a lot of sense.
Thank you!
I definitely agree with all you said. Thanks for the reminder. 😉
Thanks so much for watching ❤️
Great video Dez, and good reminders of important points I'm going to pick out a more supportive bra this morning I have them but have been wearing more comfy ones of late. You look particularly lovely today you really suit your hair style. thank you so much X.
Thanks Jennifer - I am going to do a video on bras soon, actually 😊❤️
Thank you very much, great advice 😊
Great video Dez..agree with everything you said..thank you
Thank you!
Well said!
You look so pretty!
Thank you ❤️
Great video and tips!!!
Thank you ❤️
Hi Dez you are looking absolutely fabulous ❤ I love your outlook on life you have got it spot on 😊
Thank you ❤️
I sleep in a soft bra after reconstruction... trying to keep my one boob pert...and I damp my face with a sprat befire apply moistriser... it makes a difference the product sinks and doesn't sit on my face and make me sweat. Love your guidance particularly about grooming....
Ooh that's a good tip, Elizabeth, thank you!
Dez your absolutely beautiful ❤❤and I love Rockstarmom Patti is beautiful too❤❤
Aww thanks ❤️ - Patti is gorgeous, and real ❤️
Could you recommend a good support bra (non-wired!) please. Love your channel btw!
Thanks so much! I have a non-wired bra video in the works - but in the meantime this Uniqlo one is quite good: go.shopmy.us/p-7373222 - but it's a top with support. I have been known to suffer from "underboob" when wearing it, though 😉
Well enjoyed. Thank you!
Thanks so much!
Thanks you you've Inspired me
Thank you for watching!
Thank you! I need to hear more so I subscribed.
Thanks so much Carole ❤️
Brava!
Thank you!
Great advice xx.
Thanks so much ❤️
Dez, my hair does the same....a birds nest in five minutes! So I smooth it quick with an iron and then I feel fab.
I agree with all your tips & do them regularly. Your neck looks fantastic!!❤️
Plastic surgery, but I like her tipps she is totally right.
I don'like to show my very best to the world but to myself
Thank you so much!
No plastic surgery - the only plastic surgery I've ever had was on my nose when I was 21. Glad you like my tips, though - thank you!
Thanks! Enjoyed and have subscribed to your videos 💕
Thank you so much ❤️
I really enjoy your vidoes
ps. what do you think of small shoulder pads ? I have some from past jumpers and the small lift makes your deportment look better I think
I think they can look great! I bought some from Amazon but I couldn't make them work - they were the ones you insert into your bra straps - I will investigate further!
