My friend at work rides an older boulevard. He likes the fact it’s shaft drive. Also the pricing on these Suzukis is way better. I agree with you that you’re paying for the name when you buy Harley’s.
Thank you for the nice review. I have been riding for 53 years and have had everything from Harley to the metrics. One of the main things I like about the M109 is is simplicity. None of the bikes I have had in the past had ride modes, ABS, cruise control, etc and I enjoyed each of them just fine. I certainly realize why riders would want these but I in my case I have operated so long without them this bike would fit me just fine. This will probably be the last bike I purchase in my lifetime and I wanted to have at least one power cruiser. This one fits the bill.
just bought a boulevard a month ago and i live in that exact area haha, had to do a double take when i saw what road you were on at first, thats so cool
Trst rode a 2009 model back in 2014. The smile on my face was so big I bought it when I got back to the dealer. Got hit by a pickup truck and totalled it in 2019. Loved it so much bought a new one in 2022. It is by far, as we say in Australia "the ducks nuts" as far as I'm concerned. Buy one you'll be hooked
The Ducks Nuts is so cool! They are a bike that's iconic for sure!! Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻. Have a great rest of your weekend!!!
Did he say 1600cc? It’s actually 1800cc (1783 to be precise.) I’ve had mine for 8 years now and I love it. I chose it because I was looking for that crossover between traditional cruiser and sports. Coming off a smaller bike, the length and the 240mm rear tyre take a little adjustment when cornering but you soon get used to it and it actually handles very well, it’s well balanced and the fuel system, derived from the GSX, is very smooth. The low seat compensates for the weight when manouvering around the yard. The torque on this bike is awesome, it pulls like a train in any gear. Not only is the seat comfortable enough to sit on all day, but the “clamshell” riding position (feet forward, upper body slightly inclined) suits me fine. I’d prefer it to have ABS but have never put myself in a situation where I might need it. A gear indicator would also be nice. Other than that, I don’t care for all the electronic gizmos (in fact I’ve just removed the META alarm/immobiliser, it’s a pain in the ass.) This bike weighs nearly 800lbs; with a wheel-lock fitted, nobody is going to lift it into a van while I’m having my coffee. Mine is actually 2007 in the classic black and chrome, and although the bike has hardly changed over the years, the only bike aid ever trade mine in for would be a more recent year of the same bike.
Tks for the video. You helped me making my decision. Just bought one last Friday, M109R 2024 Red. I simply love it. Power, comfort, sound, look and price. a winner all the way.
How is the "shaft jacking" under acceleration? That's a common complaint with shaft drive bikes and probably the reason the test rider kept saying he could "feel the torque"... Sure is a "looker" though - Enjoy!
@benoitturcotte5602 I also bought the 2024 m109r in candy red! I absolutely love this bike! Great cruiser on and off the interstate, and from town to town! It's so comfortable to ride on. Like riding a big Ole couch down the road! But if you wanna Drag race a sports bike, it's good at that too! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine ✌️
Gorgeous bike. My father had a Honda vtx 1800 and a Rune. Both were big bikes and as a big guy myself I prefer it over smaller. I was looking into a Honda 1800 but leaning toward the m109r.
I own a 2009 Suzuki boulevard C109RT. It has the same 109 cu powerplant just with the classic cruiser look and tuned to have 15% more torque and it weighs 900 lb it comes with a 240 mm rear tire as well as the M109. I test rode an M109 and I was really disappointed because the power felt alot weaker than I was used to with my C109RT. Ive gotten up to 135mph and still had acceleration power to spare
I just wish Suzuki could get their ass into gear to add ABS, because we can't get these new in NZ anymore without it. Im riding a 2007 M50 now, and love it. Would love to upgrade to its much bigger brother, the 109.
I want one of these bikes sooooo bad. I currently have the Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 VTC but I like the look of this bike soooo much more. Don't get me wrong, the 1100 runs like a scalded dog, but I'm 6ft 2 and like the forward controls on the M109R. If I could get a payment cheap enough, I would trade my Honda for this Suzuki in a HEARTBEAT!!!
I had the M109r2. The one with the small headlight. I don't remember the year. Recently I've been shopping for a used Harley Sport Glide (2021, no longer sold in the USA). The Harley prices are ridiculous. I'm really temped to go back to the 109. I just wish Suzuki added cruise control and ABS. I know - it will never happen. Once Suzuki hits on something all they do is change the paint (e.g., DR650, Vstrom 650 etc.).

Hot dang, I have been waitin' for a feller who talks like me. I'm from Georgia and I love the Suzuki M109. Now, there's a Japanese company called Tsukayu that offers a fairin' for the front with a windshield on it. They also have hard bags for tourin'. The only thing I wish it had is cruise control. Full gear wearin' is for yankees what don't ride in the high heat. I don't wear all that gear either.
there is a reason for the clutch being dry that does nothing bad for the bike it's an awesome machine I have a 2006 still running strong and I'm planning to get a 2024 ASAP. What gearbox problems are you talking about please explain
How does this compare to the 2014 Honda Valkyrie or Yamaha Raider? After the Vmax which I cant find I have narrowed it down to these three for my third bike which I want for my cruiser needs.
the raider is a 3 hole oil change , also air cooled , so if you're in a hot part of the country like me , that's not a good thing. The Vmax is awesome but they don't get good gas mileage and run on premium gas. There's something good to say about all of them . The valkyrie is tough to work on , ie, air filter change is a PITA .
This bike is absolutely beautiful. One of the most beautiful I've ever seen. But it's quite difficult to ride. No traction control or even ABS (I mean COME ON !). I totally agree with you guys on the cruise control but that's an easy fix buy the aftermarket cruise control for your throttle works perfect. I don't really care about the sixth gear situation You got to remember one thing about the bike The reason why it has a dry clutch no six gear shaft driven is because it was engineer and made perform in a certain way changing certain dynamics of the bike will change the bikes overall performance no matter what it's a nice machine.

And nothing I could do when 600 pound has that momentum you along for the ride. I only wear a helmet and gloves because of the wind when I use to ride. I had the 2014 M109r Boss which was black and yellow. I wonder if the new M109r's have had any updates to them since the? or if it is still the same motorcycle just different colors. It is a great motorcycle. And I am retired and 65 and would not mind having one again. Harleys are junk and overpriced.
I'm not sure on updates on this new year Model, I've owned and loved Harleys to its just not my bike of choice now. We all have to live with our choices- I don't wear leather jackets and full leathers either, hopefully I don't regret that. Hey Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻. RIDE SAFE and don't be a stranger.
No updates from what I read and the crazy thing 2024 has only one color available …black. I owned two m109s. Had the blue/white 2012 and still kicking myself for letting it go. I’m torn now between a fat boy anniversary or a new m109. I know the price gap is insane but I’m getting old and this will probably be my last bike. Only issues with my 109’s? The first one had the well known tranny issue shifting 1st to 2nd. The second 109? No issues and the shaft drive rocks no chain or belt to mess with. If your 225lbs or more I would get a softer seat and remember it looks best as a one seater so unless you figure out a way to haul around the buddy seat and the removable fiberglass when buddy seat is installed you will be screwed if you run into a special person who wants to ride with you while you’re out cruising. Personally I don’t like the liability of a passenger on my bike so the buddy seat gathered a lot of dust. Just wish Suzuki would update something! I know they are aware but they just sit on their half moons. They’ve had so many combinations of black that I wonder how many of those parts just roll over year after year.
@@RayBowdenRides I mean pulling the clutch in well before a stop and allowing the bike to freewheel up to the stop, while apparently revving the engine, rather than rev matching on the down change coming to a stop in 1st at the stop point 🤷🏻♂️
The Vrod had more power. The pan America has more power. The harley 131 Engine makes a lot more power.. The Suzuki is a good bike but not a harley killer
I had 2 vrods and neither one was super fast , yeah off the line but at 110 mph it leveled out . Also Premium unleaded for sure and I think regular gas for the 109
Vrod is marginally faster sure. But not comfortable at all. At least the 109 is fairly comfortable. And the 131 makes hardly any more power and cost 30k+. Cant really compare that.
Oooo i see we've struck a nerve 😂 The VROD makes 125hp, and M109R makes 130hp. So no, its not more powerful. The VROD is BARELY faster due to weight ratio. The Pan America isnt even a cruiser, so that's another reach. The 131ci isnt a stock engine, its a factory upgrade that costs a lot. Not to mention, a stock 131 makes a sad amount of horsepower unless you tune it and void warranty. Less than 130whp from the 131ci stock. So yes, the M109r literally kills every Harley cruiser that is out right now, stock for stock. If you tune the M109R, you're not touching it with a Milwaukee 8 unless you cam it out.
The M109R is the number one choice for me getting a cruiser

@HeCoversMe Yep, thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend.

Is that freewheeling clutch in up to junction and traffic lights normal, because it's a weird way to ride in my opinion
What do you Mean??
@@RayBowdenRides I mean pulling the clutch in well before a stop and allowing the bike to freewheel up to the stop, while apparently revving the engine, rather than rev matching on the down change coming to a stop in 1st at the stop point 🤷🏻♂️
@kevindarkstar oh OK, hmm - I guess I'm just different! Thanks for answering back! Stay in Touch sir!
Needs cruise control.

No your not paying for the HD name, your paying union mafia extortion.
🤣That's a good one !! Thanks for Watching and Commenting my friend 🙏🏻.
The Vrod had more power. The pan America has more power. The harley 131 Engine makes a lot more power.. The Suzuki is a good bike but not a harley killer
Thanks for Commenting and being apart of the Channel!🙏🏻
I had 2 vrods and neither one was super fast , yeah off the line but at 110 mph it leveled out . Also Premium unleaded for sure and I think regular gas for the 109
Vrod is marginally faster sure. But not comfortable at all. At least the 109 is fairly comfortable. And the 131 makes hardly any more power and cost 30k+. Cant really compare that.
@county_bear9509 Thanks for being apart of the Channel and Commenting 🙏🏻.
