A Las Vegas casino is suing OCC after a patron won the bike, then a few months later the engine fell off the frame and caused injuries. The patron sued the casino and won, and now the casino is suing OCC.
Sadly, companies getting sued is hardly an indictment of their liability anymore, especially in the US. People sue for all sorts and win, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. It's a pathetic culture. However, I suspect it's probably justified in this circumstance...
@@cameronslater1857 Jay Leno even trashed out OCC on his TH-cam channel. Apparently Leno bought one of OCC's bikes, and immediately started having trouble with the electrical and transmission; Leno rides his motorcycles, drives his cars.., so he spotted the issues pretty quickly. Even former employees of OCC are going after Paul Sr for a variety of issues from refusing to pay wages, to making verbal threats over the telephone.
@@cameronslater1857I think the media did a better job convincing you people suing for nothing is a bigger problem than corporate greed. Seeing as you felt the need to say all that in response to something you claim to agree with.
@@jizzyb76 I think a five year old could do a better job of structuring a sentence than you just managed seeing as you felt the need to bump your gums. 👍
I dont know about you guys, but for us mechanics here in Germany the OCC was basically a comedy show on how to not build things. Its like watching bear grylls and expect to be a survivialist afterwards. Really you watch it because of how ridiculous it is. I remember one time when they built a military bike and one of them walked around with a box of random military gear that he started welding to where ever there was space on the bike. Absolut prime humor.
@@MotoDonuts I still liked the show. And you could learn something from it. There were some talented builders and some up to date technology in it. But as a concept, their bikes were mostly a joke. I believe they were fully aware of that though.
I had a buddy get a nice inheritance in 06, he ordered a bike from OCC, they said 8 months but took them 2 years...When he did get the bike It didn't make it 50 miles down the road. Then when he called to complain they ghosted him. He then had the bike towed mack to their shop they trespassed him immediately. Cops showed up and told my buddy they come out once a week for this very thing. "They sell a bike that doesn't run, person brings it back and they trespass them". He sued and they paid him extra for a NDA.
OCC wasn't really about bikes it was about selling advertising. A company like GEICO has a bike built for a 100k + and they got millions of views from the show. It was the cheapest advertising you could buy and it was genius on both OCCs part and GEICOs. Too bad OCCs bikes weren't as nicely built to run as they were cosmetically.
I saw a comment years ago that said in the contract you sign with them they state the bikes are not meant to be ridden but are instead a display piece, and that any injuries you suffer from the bike malfunctioning or essentially falling apart they're not liable for. I've also read that they've had lawsuits from people who WERE seriously injured by their bikes literally falling apart when ridden.
@@matthouston8411 Joking aside, they weren't in California. They were in New York. There's an Orange County in both and people constantly thought it was California they were in.
@@TheRealTburt Because people expect a real motor, especially for that price. You won't find a person who owns a chopper who doesn't enjoy cranking it to show off.
Race bike, It has a seat? Wow! so much luxury! :-) But for real. Imagine doing a burnout on that thing, It would throw rubber all over your back and head. Kind of like the old Greeves or Harleys, with oil on your back and in your hair.
Came here to say that too. Once the video is made, running, ridden, dyno, sell it to him. It obviously means probably more to him than anyone other than the original owner. Seems like a cool guy to have around the channel too!
We all know it was meant to be. That neighbour is meant to have that bike after this video. Praise god, and his son that was sent to save us all Edit: grammar/spelling
HEy Sean when you saw the gum in the fuel lines, that is from C16 fuel all the injectors will be gummed up with that exact same stuff thats why the injector hose blew because the injector is fully clogged with C16. you can never leave C16 for any amount of time. it should be drained if you dont plan on using the bike for even a few days its that volatile I would take the tank off. clean it out make sure no gum got in the new fuel pump. then take off the fuel rail that will need cleaning and depending how the injection is set up will either have some hose to the injector or it will go straight into the manifold. clean head to tank mate Damn good find. how cool was that guy seeing his baby again. he obv loved that bike. and everytime you build big project bikes you leave parts of you in that bike. im sure hed love it back once you are done. or at the minim let him ride it and come visit
Yep as soon as you see that level of gum... you gotta replace everything fuel touches and clean out the tank. Should have been the plan from the beginning to be honest... but this kinda shows his level of experience with starting up old junk. Anyone that's pulled something old back from storage/barns/fields that wants to get it running has a pretty similar check list. That's nearly the top item.
I can only think this was for content? Like its pretty obvious everything to do with the fuel system is bad, so why keep trying to crank it when there is way more du-dilegence required?
Ironic that in the battle of celebrity chopper builder shows from the early 2000's, that Jessie James and Monster Garage would come out on top. I used to watch both shows as a teenager and thought they were amazing. Of course I was only like 12/13 then lol .
Umm, every bike Jesse James ever made looks exactly the same, and that means they all look stupid. I'm impressed with his skill, but disappointed with his tastes.
Hell that Rolex is probably worth more than the bike alone! (Edit: as pointed out, it’s an Edox, but I are dumb and was half awake watching the video 🤦🏼♂️)
Hell, the trailer alone is probably $3500 give/take so the bike itself is basically $6000 down ridiculously from the $100k that it originally sold from OCC for. OCC and the chopper craze was such a huge joke to serious riders.
Spent $10k and made a new life long friend. Give the bike to that guy and keep him on the channel. You’ve already broken even with the trailer, watch and views.
soon as you see one bad fuel line you have to assume that everything touched by fuel has degraded . Hoses , filters , pump , injectors . Honestly i would not trust those clutch lines either . It was super cool to see that guy seeing a bike he built so long ago . I've had this happen to me once , i helped a friend of mine build up a car for racing , he sold it , we never saw it and then i randomly found it 5 years later . Went to look for the owner , and it is just a great feeling man , like seeing an old friend . The car was not special , but the connection i had to it warmed my heart
@@mrmagoo916 no, this damage is from fuel left in the lines. Over time it breaks down and starts eating the rubber. Turns into a black slugde, clogs filters, injectors, carb jets. It's nasty stuff. Ethanol will do that as well, but it is far more likely to oxidize anything metal it touches since it pulls moisture from the air
lol at random "previous owners/builders" got an old FZR250. was using it for courier work. random guy runs up to me... "you still riding that thing!?" um...yeah? you know what it is? I had a similar experience. I bought a Modified 1975 Porsche 914 from a random dealer in Oregon. A few months later I was at a random gas station in California and met the initial owner that did the modifications. He told me all about the car and knew exactly everything about the car that only he would know. Moments like those are interesting...
Something happened to me like that too. I traded in my Evo X to a Honda dealership. Then they sold it about 2 weeks later. I had wheels that were on the car that I couldn't use anymore. So I sold them. When the guy came to pick the wheels up. It was my old Evo pulling up lol. Guy lived a state over . I gave the guy a bunch of stock parts I had laying around the garage that came off the car .
Their stuff looked cool for the time but i know a few guys who rode one and said it was a death trap. My buddy Ted said he got rolling on one he was going to buy and stopped before he shifted out of 1st because the front wheel geometry was so bad it scared him. He said the forks wanted to lay over and it was a huge fight to keep the wheel straight.
They are art pieces and that is really it. They handle like a semi truck and really are only good for a straight line and that's it. This geico bike is clearly a show bike only but theoretically could be used for drag racing. I want to get into making custom bikes but I want to make functional works of art that you would want to drive everyday and not just shelve. It does no good if nobody ever sees it and if you only ride it once.
One of my neighbors had one, he rode it once, then tried to sell it . . . first listed it at $80k. Every year he dropped it by $10k. He finally sold it fir $12k to a kid who didn't know any better.
Don't forget the cheap Swiss watch. That's no Rolex, that's for sure. I bet it keeps time though. I have a cheap Rodania from the '60s and it is as accurate as a digital watch. Loses a couple seconds a month.
@@Lurch-Bot The watch could maybe be worth around $800? They're about $1400 new, and that's a 'special version' but first of all those watches lose value immediately when you buy them, and the value of that Geico version can be lower or higher depending on someone being willing to pay less or more for that 'special Geico version'. The watch itself is an ordinary quartz trinket.
Why do you think so many corporations and fortune 500 companies wanted to buy bikes and be on the show. It was 100x cheaper than paying an actual network for advertising time.
I'm so satisfied that people are calling these bikes out. The show was cool for the drama, but the bikes were never practical. Jay Leno was the man to just say no. He owns one I believe, but he just says no. Haha
The first bike I rebuilt, was a 1973 cb750 sohc from a military guy in Virginia. After 10 years I sold it on ebay to a guy in Florida. By CHANCE! Sold it to the son of the guy I bought it from.
I'm from orange county NY and before these guys went commercial and started mass producing bikes, they had some very good very well built machines. Their downfall was going the route they did. They had so much respect for their builds before the gimmicks and shenanigans.
I still enjoyed their shows....these bikes are really art pieces more than bikes...the creative spirit of these bikes is what the whole point was....plus making money...LOL...
@@steves3688 yea people don't seem to understand that they decided they would make a lot of money creating advertising that had motorcycle components.....it was unfortunate that they had the personal drama that they did and that it was real, but there are a lot of people in the USA that have worked in family businesses that can relate to that as well.....especially ones that had a wild period of growth because of the opposing talents and drives of two different generations....that ended up having a lot of appeal and viewership too
Why would anyone leave fuel in that thing? Very sad how people mistreat their engines. The whole fuel system is full of varnish and gelled fuel. It had no chance of running. I am amazed that they didn't stop and clean the entire fuel system before trying to crank it the first time.
@@mmeijer635it's like his comment that that hydraulic clutch was dangerous, hydraulic brakes are fine but not clutches?, today all vehicles have hydraulic brakes and many of them have hydraulic clutches, has he never had a clutch cable brake, such a stupid comment.
Yea, real mechanics know to drain fuel system. Check for dry rot hoses, check for rust in the tank, pull injectors and make sure their clear and change filter. Then put new fuel in and run fuel pump to see fuel coming out at the fuel rail. Know for sure it's ok, then if it don't start, only thing left is spark. Which is the other thing to check. Pull plugs, replace wires due to dry rot, then try to fire it up.
The company I worked for spent $400,000 for a Orange County Chopper advertising package. It was not worth it. We got a nice looking bike that wasn't even street legal. A few T-shirts, and 45 seconds on the program. We also gave them custom build spraybooth. We were promised advertising about our facility. When we complained we were told that OCC didn't have control of the program.. We spend a years worth of advertising for 45 seconds of them presenting the bike to our owner.
@@h.g.buddneI don't disagree. I finally quit that business even though I was the only electrical designer and programmer. Later he hired a young guy that restructured our pricing and company model and things went down fast. He wound up alienating our biggest customer.

@@kregadeth5562I don't agree. It's not even a tiny bit of what we were promised. The only mention of the company I worked for was them presenting the bike to the owner. Not a thing about the company itself or the custom spray booth we built for OCC. They originally told us they would include shots of them using the spray booth to paint the bike. We erected the booth in our shop and they filmed the painting. Then we moved the booth to their shop. Not one second of any of this was shown. We paid $400,000 and the bike was crap.
Half a video deserves Half a like! Your neighbor should have offered to help get the bike back into shape if he wants you to sell it to him. Since he didn't he's out! Lol!

buddy knows a guy who starts mothballed boats all winter for like $10 a month per boat. once a fuel pump sits and seizes up , its $500 for a replacement with labor so 10/mo is nothing for a boat owner. Had their show bikes on display, a merch shop, a couple bowling lanes, and a bar and grill. 6 or 7 years ago, they sold the building and rented it back from the new owners. When I left in 2022, the building was abandoned and had a for sale sign in front of it. Not much of a market for 6-figure bikes that are barely rideable I guess.

They absolutely are, and they're generally paid for out of their advertising budgets. I know an acquaintance that lost a sizable drag racing sponsorship to a company that had a custom bike built for the TV show fairly early on, and he they were up front about how they were trying to widen their brand, so their advertising was going to try something different, plus there was no animosity apparent between them, so I tend to believe it .

What amazed me about the OCC TV show was how stupid and how little people knew about motorcycles but were prepared to spend 1\4 milion dollars on a bike that is basically a full size toy with no brakes. No speedometer. No rev counter. No ignition or even be able to ride the thing due to the geometry making it so unsafe. And less HP than many scooters.
*They have always just looked like art pieces to me anyway.* I'm sure there are some that are genuinely enjoyable to ride but it's just a gamble in general of which ones. *My formal education is in a highly complex science, electrical/electronics engineering, but I also have many years in metal crafting, carpentry, auto mechanics and so on.* I always noticed the order and habit of how the bikes were engineered to know you couldn't rely on them genuinely being rideable aside from the fact that they're hard tails! lol Wisdom has shown me structure your mandatory components to whatever it is you are designing or flat out inventing, then after the fact incorporate the decor and all around architecture that is a priority for appearance, not just stability of form and function.
Jay Leno and a guest (can’t remember who), both have OCC’s and bashed just how shitty they are. They’re made so cheaply and just thrown together. The one example had everything electrically important, wired with the rear taillight.
@orangemanbad well that's not what Leno said. He paid for a custom bike, so he could ride it. That's not some Corporate Show bike as in this clip or for eg. The Gillette bike. Those are show bikes. And don't they show the bikes being riden by the Orange CC show people?
I’ve seen that bike on display here at Lake of the Ozarks(Missouri) Offshore Powerfest when the Miss Geico boat was running. Along with an appearance at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. And as an avid biker for several decades I’ve been around the country riding, and seen numerous OCC bikes. I won’t say the notoriety doesn’t have payout, but as a bike builder, they were and still are a joke. They took an ambitious businessman, and made his shop a prime time evening soap opera! Too many of the shows around the turn of the century 2000’s showcased bikes that were just a joke, bringing criticism from people who didn’t ride, and put a poor outlook on builders, who were truly building real bikes. I have worked in two separate shops here in Missouri and the bikes we built were ridden. Thousands of miles a year, to all corners of the country, and not all loaded into trailers from one stop to another. Good luck with your personal soap opera here, the bike and its history, hoping you are/were prepared for a debacle.
3:50 you almost had me, until I realized your neighbor clued you in on this bike, because the guy passed, and then you bought it, so you could film this fake produced segment.
The OCC Dixie Chopper bike was built by a friend of mine and his dad in Indianapolis. They were friends with the people who owned or worked for Dixie Chopper.
I was half expecting it to be cursed object, such that once it was in the shop getting serviced, everybody might start getting confrontational and throwing chairs around.
The watch is an Edox CO-1. It's a quartz watch with a one off face. Being quartz (versus mechanical), it's cheap crap. It'd be considered a cheap novelty watch. I'm a watch guy. Nice trailer, though.
Quartz doesnt automatically mean crap. You can get full metal, jewelled, high end, luxry quartz movements. Just as you can get cheap, crap mechanical movements.
As Jeremy Clarkson famously said.... hand-built is a fancy way of saying that the door would fall off. But OCC and his car-butchering counterparts took it a whole new level.
This only shows how incompetent on driving people with driver's license are. It doesn't take in depth or even rudimentary knowledge on mechanics to realise that for example in this bike, the front for suspension has no chance of working at this angle it was put on.
Home-made and hand-made are two different things. How sad are we as a society that mass production is now seen as the pinnacle of quality? That being said, OCC is not quality. It's just expensive.

Had one of my tenants in Georgia win a occ giveaway bike in Daytona during bike week! But they wouldn’t let him ride it home b4 registration and insurance! They delivered it to his apartment! It was going to cost him $7500 to register after tax and title fees and $250 a month to insure. He ended up selling it to his insurance agent for $60,000 cause he was not going to pay that to park something in his garage and maybe ride it once a month!
In my opinion, get the $15,000 that guy who helped build the bike offered you in straight up cash, before you drop a mint into the bike to get it running. Unless you plan to fix it and keep it or sell it for a profit. I keep remembering what Jay Leno said about O.C. Choppers in reference to the quality of their bikes! In a nutshell, he said that their bikes are trash! 🤔
You don't realise for real he is going to earn much more of this youtube series than the 15k he was offered? And after the series he still can sell it unless he is going to destroy it.
I'm a sub. I'm an old bike guy and I'm a Christian. Not only am I a great fan of yours, I'm so happy to be associated (in a small way) with you and the great people you have on the channel. I'm 68 and been on bikes since I was 14 when my brother and I bought the worst Harley every. The only thing that was good was the motor (most of the time) and he and I had to work hauling hay, mowing grass, fixing fences or anything that would help out the family and to be able to buy parts (mostly used). We were as poor as it gets, but I had a blast as a kid. Didn't know I was poor till I got to High School because everyone I knew was poor. But, my clothes were always clean, we never went hungry and we never owed money. Dad passed when I was 8 and Mom had a stroke having me so my oldest sis had to raise the rest of us (4) as a teenager. The one thing my brother and I had in common was that bike. We worked on it every day and kept our bike money in a mason jar in the hall closet. 90% of what we earned went to help the family, just like my other brother and sister, but we kept 10 % for the bike and ourselves. When I was almost 16, I rode it from Oklahoma to Sturgis (this is the old Sturgis when it was real MC's and not what it is now. Bike ran great. Only broke down 17 times going up and back. 5 less than normal. Ha. Best moment I had was when about 6 guys from the Hell's Angles peeled off from the trail of their group to help me. Nicest people I ever met. Not only did they fix my carb problem they left me with some tools that they knew I would need and did. People don't know how cool these guys were, or how nice. This was the early 70's and because of the crap you saw on TV and in movies, that wasn't those guys. Respect them and they respect you. They didn't have to help me but they did. I'm 68 with cancer and I've told that story a million times because it's stayed with me that long. It wasn't the only time I met a HA either. Ran into one when I was 20 at a gas station in NM. These guys were patched up and the real deal. They said hi and looked at my bike (still a poor mans bike but I kept it running). They were super nice and I told them about the story of when I was younger. We got to talk a long time as they were taking a break. I learned a lot about patches and rockers and what not to do when you meet a real MC. They weren't trying to sound tough, they were doing me a favor. Respect is big for these guys. Years later, a friend of mine bought a bike and brought it buy to show me. Not too many year back. It was before Wild Hogs, the movie came out. I remember that because when he brought his bike over he brought his new leathers including his jacket with upper and lower rockers with Oklahoma and Born to raise Hell and to top it off, he had a 1% diamond on. I explained how bad of an idea this was for him to EVER have it on in public. Ha. Went too far, but I always do with bikes. Finished completely hand restoring a 1975 Honda CB 360T. Not a inch of that bike was touched by other than me. About a truck load of 0000 and new mods. I love the people that work on them. It takes more than people think. They're like Swiss watches. Every part has to work perfectly.
Knowing nothing I got an 02 Shadow that sat for 2 years with a full tank, started in about 30min. It ran like crap but it wanted to live. Got it for $300 and then really worked on it. I restored a 75 CB550F after that. Lots of work. If I got that bike, first thing I would do is check the plugs, check the tank and fuel filter. Then check for a petcock in the off position. If all good, I would prime the fuel before a full start. Get it into the lines. Also be sure the oil was fresh. Then give it a good try starting it. I found the CB550 crank start was more fun but really, rolling down a hill and popping into first was the best.

Also... it's a mechanical watch. It almost certainly works fine, you just need to wind it. I don't see "automatic" anywhere on the face, but since it's a custom Miss Geico watch, it might still have an automatic winder, which uses the motion of your arm to keep it wound while you wear it. Also, it's a chronograph, so you can use it like a stopwatch and stuff.
These themed bikes were built merely for TV & large corporations that wanted the PR on the show & then to have it sit at their HQ in the lobby. HEy Sean when you saw the gum in the fuel lines, that is from C16 fuel all the injectors will be gummed up with that exact same stuff thats why the injector hose blew because the injector is fully clogged with C16. you can never leave C16 for any amount of time. it should be drained if you dont plan on using the bike for even a few days its that volatile
I would take the tank off. clean it out make sure no gum got in the new fuel pump. then take off the fuel rail that will need cleaning and depending how the injection is set up will either have some hose to the injector or it will go straight into the manifold. clean head to tank mate

Justin Barnes painted the bike which is off the charts, the bike is forsale if your wanting a true OCC built by one of the real builders after he left the show...This is the honest truth the bike Vinnie built is honeslty caple of being ridden and it runs, his work is hands down perfection.
Sounds like Vinnie put together a decent bike compared to what they had the guys doing in occ

That bike wasn’t “built”. It was assembled and painted. Nice parts, but still off the shelf parts.
All orange county choppers was, was Puuaaauulie Seenya and Puuaaauulie Joonya yelling at each other.
That's the only reason most of us watched.
When OCC was on TV, they didn't even build their own frames. They had a custom builder make them. That's why you never saw them welding up a frame.
Yep,the basic models, they bought all the parts in bulk and then just bolted them together for ridiculous money.
@@davehoward22 At least later, when the company had a large headquarters, the frames of the custom bikes were manufactured in-house.

*My formal education is in a highly complex science, electrical/electronics engineering, but I also have many years in metal crafting, carpentry, auto mechanics and so on.*
I always noticed the order and habit of how the bikes were engineered to know you couldn't rely on them genuinely being rideable aside from the fact that they're hard tails! lol
Wisdom has shown me structure your mandatory components to whatever it is you are designing or flat out inventing, then after the fact incorporate the decor and all around architecture that is a priority for appearance, not just stability of form and function.

The odds of meeting the man who essentially fit and finished the bike, are astronomical. This video has definitely made me more interested in bikes!
Currently, the US and Canada's combined population is over 382 million. 1:382,000,000?! Astronomical odds indeed!
It was divine destiny
Not when you consider there are very few people that do that kind of custom work, in fact there are only a handful in the US.
Jay Leno and a guest (can’t remember who), both have OCC’s and bashed just how shitty they are. They’re made so cheaply and just thrown together. The one example had everything electrically important, wired with the rear taillight.
I highly doubt that what I watch Paul Jr design and build is cheap let alone not done well... are the worth 150k no but they are Def not made cheap
Paul Snr made a TH-cam video responding to Jay Leno's allegations.
Living in Finland , Even I heard Jay Leno Trash the bike custom built for him.
They’re show bikes. Duh. You didn’t realize that ??

Rolls Royce is hand built. It's not always true about being less quality work.

$2400 watch@@BikesandBeards
@@BikesandBeards Did you ask them why they painted that chopper the same color as the phlegm that I coughed up, the last time I had bronchitis?

@raelik777 you actually just need to push the dial "in". All nice watches come with the dial "out" so as to not drain the battery.
These themed bikes were built merely for TV & large corporations that wanted the PR on the show & then to have it sit at their HQ in the lobby.
