    I bought a brand new at the time m109r. First modifications I did was the freedom exhaust and force winder air filters. What I did was get a tune after so that bike runs most efficiently with the new parts. Maybe that's what your bike needs. Cheers!!

      Sorry for the late response. You did it the right way. I bought mine with the pipes and air filter system on it. I was supposed to have it tuned and Dyno but the local shop closed. I don’t believe in sending a computer out. Every engine is different. Some people are fine with it but i want to see graph and numbers. Thanks for the comment and watching.

    Yeah I saw your video when I was just curious about buying a m109r. Now that I purchased and came across your video a second time, you make much more sense.
    I did purchase a m109r 2017 with 20k miles from a dealer in AZ. The lack of historical information was a concern but I found a registration under the seat from a prior Calif owner and tracked them down. Since it was a phone call, I can only assume what he told me with a grain of salt. I give him the trust and being a done deal he has no reason not to stay truthful. My bike was all stock as Id rather not buy a modded preowned bike so in your case, your advice really matters. I still have meat on my tires but Imma about to cross the 5 year mark.
    Your now talking about your filters as I type and you need a sock over them to keep the rain out. Good video.

    This is great. My story is the same. I was 10 years off of riding so I didn't notice the clutch was bad I did fix it myself and now it's a beast. Mine also has air intakes and a 2into 1 muffler. I bought a power commander to help with the changes.

    I have an 06 with almost 100k. Haven't rode much over the last couple years. The best advice I can give is to join the m109 forum. Years of knowledge can be found there. You can probably buy some socks for the intakes and rain. The second gear is an issue but I have found when shifting you have to "shift it like you mean it" from 1st to 2nd. No lazy shift from 1st to 2nd. Some say you can change the shift star to help. I've only had a few times where it didn't shift correctly.
    If you change the intakes and exhaust you have to get a fuel tuner or have the ecu flashed. The servo buddy lessens the engine braking a lot. Stock is like riding a bucking bronco. Really hard to ride smooth stock. If your bike is running ok it probably has a tuner under the seat or the ecu has been flashed already.
    If you changed the clutch yourself then swapping out the bones shouldn't be that big of a deal. Somone on the forum would probably give the stock ones to you for free. Mine is also lowered 2" and it doesn't bother me.

    • @richthereturnrider6737
      @richthereturnrider6737  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All great info. I truly appreciate it. I switched the suspension back to stock years ago. The tuning I might have it done at a dyno shop. So far I have no problem with the tranny. I am not going to worry about a problem that I don’t presently have. Thank again for the info and thanks for watching.

    I wish I was able to see this video before, I bought my M109R 3 months ago and it was showing signs that clutch needed to be replace but I did not know, I was on a road trip last week and a barely made it back to the city, now is on the shop waiting to have its new clutch install ;) Great bike by the way, love it! Rich thank you. I’m researching now to get a used M109R. Looking at both private sellers and dealers. Lots of private sellers have title liens and not sure I want to deal with that. My main question is on what you touched upon with the second gear issue. You mentioned post 2010 models have not really had the issue but I’ve read on some online websites that it was never fixed. Big concern. I will have to take my time looking.

    Look I had a bike with a 160 wide tyre which already felt perfect for the bike. I can imagine a 240 sounds just about perfect for such big boney, but a 260 definitely sounds a bit much I agree. And lowering a bike like this? I don’t get it. Great content, sir. Very informative. I’ve never ever ever EVER looked at a boulevard, nor have I ever thought I’d even consider it. Not once. I always thought it’s just too much or too insane or maybe it was my “if it ain’t a Harley” tripe but this past year I’ve very quickly gotten into the idea of these amazing Japanese cruisers.

      They did not fix the transmission issue in 2011. They did change the clutch in 2011 and added extra discs and lightened the springs making the clutch feel lighter and smoother. If you own an earlier bike, you can buy the parts to upgrade the older clutch to the new system.
