  • So after all of the recent heated discussions about Obi-Wan Kenobi, I've realized that a lot of the Star Wars community has become very toxic to each other.......And I don't use that word lightly. I need to address this, because I'm getting very tired of seeing it. #obiwankenobi #darthvader #toxic #starwars #obiwan

    It's ironic Disney want to talk about racism when they cut scenes of black people for china.

    As someone who loves Star Wars, but is definitely NOT apart of the fandom itself, I agree man. This is pretty much today's internet society, anyone in this world can do what they want in the internet where anyone can literally do something really bad like sending death threats. The Star Wars fandom is as toxic as the Spider-Man fandom. I'm mean, I did commented on a few Spider-Man videos about me sharing my love for The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon and the MCU Spider-Man, I literally had someone/ a comment that got really angry at me just because of an opinion I had that the user may not agree on. It's really pathetic and sad. Overall good video mate.

    While I will recognize that there's indeed some toxicity in the fandom, we cannot deny that Lucasfilm also shares some of the fault as well because they tend to put all members of the basket in the "toxic" basket, which only increases the level of hostility and toxicity

    I liked Kenobi. I think it's fine to not like Kenobi. What I have an issue with is a subsection of the haters who seem to have racist intentions.

    • @Dylasophical
      @Dylasophical  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well yeah, racism in fandom is always bad lol. If someone doesn't like a character purely for the color of their skin, that's terrible. BUT if Disney only casts a character because of the color of their skin, that is also terrible. It's just hard to decipher intention sometimes, ya know? I thought Kenobi wasn't well written or directed, and Reva was a really bad character. But Reva is only one of MANY problems in that show.

    • @datguy3581
      @datguy3581 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dylasophical I don't think the creation of the character Reva had much to do with her race. The race of the character isn't relevant within the show itself. I don't think her writing was amazing but I wouldn't say that has anything to do with the casting.

    • @Dylasophical
      @Dylasophical  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@datguy3581 Agreed, I don't think they focused on her race at all. But these corporations frequently go, "Let's cast an actor of color in here just to hit more demographics and for diversity." Even if the role would have been played better by another person, they refuse to look because they want to check boxes off. Now, I have no proof that they did that. I'm just saying, I could see that happening.

    9:44 I don't agree in that part, the high inquisitor and reeva showed reeva as way more competent and smart even tho it doesnt make sense, he scolds her for being reckless but he doesnt have a plan when the jedi at the bar escapes?, Reeva just happened to find a connection to veil organa and obi wan just by looking at archives? Why has anyone tried it? Vader wanted to find obi wan desperately and the inquisitors just give up on finding him? That's literally why they were founded, then when reeva tends the trap the high inquisitor tells her to back off? I dunno it seems like an example of an incompetent man holding a strong woman back, also obi wan the man who struck darth Maul down after he killed his teacher, defeated general Grievous the Cyborg known for slaying jedi, the man who defeated Anakin Skywalker in his prime almost couldnt save leia? Because he couldnt get his force up? I get that he might be rusty but that doesnt excuse that level of deterioration, also reeva just kills high inquisitor? Just like that?

      The fact that you were able to reflect on that in this generation is a compliment…that is how culture is dying. Peoples hatred of people will force them out of logic and into delusion. These spaces in society cannot see the forest for the trees beyond their hatred. Meaning : They will berate a character who is of sound mind if they are Black; But praise a character who is mindless and valid, raging and stalkerish like Patrick Batement in American psycho. To be sane in the USA right now is to the one who is looked at as insane. Maintain your sanity and continue to speak the truth. These dummies will either catch on or not but the truth will always stand. Bless.

    maybe it's just my circle but i feel i've seen the opposite, in comment sections regarding negative videos about star wars i see people who clearly invest time into these series piling on the negativity and what can only be described as nerdy hatred, i don't know why the same people who relentlessly watch every episode day 1 are the first to pretend their favorite franchise sucks ass, no one despises star wars more than star wars fans lol, dope video tho because unfortunately it's all true

  • @nikalice2068

    I remember enjoying both Star Wars and Star Trek as a child, and being considered a fan of neither by other people, because I couldn't choose which one to love and which one to hate.
    That sentiment put me off of both franchises until I was an adult- I've had a lot of catching up to do for both, and still not quite there yet, but I'm glad to be in a place of personal growth where I can openly enjoy what I like simply because I like it.
    **Man, that Grogu is sure darn cute!**
    **Wow! Benedict Cumberbatch in the newer Star Trek series?! Sweet beans!**
    So, criticism crossing the line has always existed, but I agree: Bashing others from behind a screen, because people are not seen as people, has gone way overboard in recent years due to the internet.

    There's a double standard on the internet. You get attacked if you don't like something. You can only voice your opinion if you're agreeing with people. It's ridiculous. There's two sides of the coin. It's either good or It's not and opinions from both sides should be welcome.

    I think everything started going downhill when people started profiting off of loving/hating star wars.
    It even feels like Disney intentionally makes some casting and story decisions to encourage the toxicity. Not saying that diversity is bad, just that I wouldnt be surprised if disney made some casting and story choices just to be able to claim criticism = racism. It's disney afterall. I'd expect that level of cynicism
    Anyways, Finn should have been the sequel trilogy's mc

    The show isn’t bad but it’s it an Obiwan show like it should be, the first problem is the show is only 6 episodes. Reva as a character isn’t bad the actress does a great job but the writing ruins her, Obiwan should be broken yes but letting someone who came for help die is ridiculous and then you have him pretty much running from Vader. It makes sense for Obiwan to be broken but not a coward or some who lets others die hell he let Vader live over someone innocent. Lucas film is a problem to because they accused people of racism before the show even came out which already set a problem, not that racism isn’t a thing but why ignite that community ?. What’s worse is some actors are very new to star wars and Disney wrote them in a way where now the people don’t wanna act for star wars again, even sadder is they programmed Moses to be afraid. This isn’t the first time either Disney did this with episode 8 and 9 where they programmed and lied to actors, 8 is a prime example of bad writing and management and they wonder why people are upset. I like the show but I wish it was longer and handled better along with the fandom, I really feel for the actors especially Moses.
