- I believe this version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, as a movie trilogy in theatres, written by Stuart Beattie, would have been a game changer for Star Wars today. I think Disney would have profited, and so would Star Wars fans.

I'm 19 minutes in and... I'm absolutely devastated that this story didn't make it to the big screen. Instead we ended up with these terrible shows and movies...

KennedyFilms doesn't care about "stories." They only care about "The Message," and that was obvious with Obi-Wasn't. Kennedy already had her mind made up about what the series would be about...grrrl power, and making sure Obi-Wasn't got "The Last Jedi" treatment (which they admitted).

It’s not entirely the writers fault. Clearly they are capable of creative writing, but as we see with this Kenobi trilogy, even the good ideas can get scrapped. It’s a Kathleen Kennedy thing. She has had so many projects get scrapped because of creative differences.
This would also explain why Obi-Wan kept telling Luke to "let go". Obi-Wan learned that if Luke felt pushed that he would follow the same path as his father. It had to be natural, not forced.
16:02 Star Wars Theory's face here basically summarizes my reaction to this whole thing pretty well. It's like a "My GOD, we missed out on THIS?! We got the mediocre Kenobi series instead of THIS storyline?!?"

I love how at 7:39, as he’s going into how Obi-Wan was feeling after ROTS. And mentions baby Luke, I love how Theory purked up in his chair. Allowing the little kid Star Wars fan come out. Now this is Star Wars!
The fact that Disney let this man go says everything you need to know. Disney needs to sell SW so creative people and fans of actual Star Wars can create magic in this world again.

Let it go, man. It's dead. This is where Star Wars thrives. Amongst decent and reasonable people. Tell this story instead of complaining to friends about what the new movies got wrong. Those movies don't exist if we simply ignore them.
I feel like finding out years later that that hot chick you knew in high school was out of your league really had the biggest crush on you and was into all the things you were into but she was already in a relationship with the starting quarterback and you didn't have the balls to talk to her anyway. Instead you're in a crappy mirage with the first girl that ever found an interest in you but then you find out they were looking for a baby daddy because their ex knocked them up but aren't in the picture anymore.
Finding out the Kenobi story we could of had makes me feel this way.

When he said Vader took out 4 Jedis in his script, that sold me and i wish we got this script because its so sick. The whole script looks insane.
Kenobi had so much potential. You had Ewan, Hayden, and even Hayden as Darth Vader!! This could’ve been an amazing movie that made a billion but they reduced it to a tv show and included nonsensical characters and scenes. I just don’t understand how they could miss such an easy layup.

Because they want to make a billion dollars with their message and agenda. It's clear to see that Disney only views Star Wars as a vehicle to push their political ideology. That's the only value the franchise has in their eyes, unfortunately.
Disney has absolutely fumbled the biggest bag in cinematic history. They’re gonna study how much of a monumental fuck up Disney made with this franchise in the future.

I think the smile tells us that Theory absolutely nailed this upcoming Vader Episode II. Because, you absolutely understand the world of Star Wars. Absolutely LOVED this interview, was amazing to hear Stuart Beattie’s Kenobi Trilogy Script… absolutely incredible, and only if we got this trilogy…

This was a fantastic conversation. I was hooked from start to finish. Very sad that we never got to see this vision on screen.
We were robbed !!! It’s so true how much attention to detail the Disney Star Wars projects are lacking. This guy really knows his stuff and wrote tasteful callbacks while maintaining the esthetic of what Star Wars is. Disney Star Wars just doesn’t have the same feel and it’s feels so surreal to watch these new projects and somehow connect them the original movies.
He's a brilliant writer above most in Hollywood, most of this stuff is great. There were some weird creative decisions like 'disconnecting from the force', having Luke being trained by Obi Wan, saying Obi Wan "was a general so he had problems letting go". Jedi didn't like the war and General was just a title. I wish Theory had asked about these cause he probably had a good explanation. The whole premise of the Jedi philosophy is to let go so having him go through that is like making a movie about a professional learning his profession again. I don't think any of that would work but who knows. Great answers and ideas overall and we should make a petition for this man to go write for Lucasfilm more and get credit, cause the TV show looked like a wrong version of his ideas with too many cooks in the kitchen to even make sense.
The way Stuart accessed the Mace Windu encounter on the spot shows how much he really knows and loves Star Wars
Yeah and SWT face when he breaks it down spells “I think I need to make an adjustment” OR maybe it’s exactly what he’s already doing.
It was a great take. A silent pissed off mace sounds awesome.
What I liked about the start of this interview was how you let him speak without interruption. Too many interviewers interject, too soon...but this was just the right type of mellow hosting

You can tell how much of a fan Stuart was and how hurt he was he didn't get to tell his story for the entire fan base. He so right that people making these shows/movies need to LOVE Star Wars.

I think from Stuarts short overview of the plot we can see it ties in to the right places in Star Wars. What a shame his vision has been lost to the current culture at Disney.

It's crazy to think that Rian Johnson's "The Last Jedi" caused Solo to bomb, which resulted in all SW movie plans being scrapped, including this Kenobi trilogy. Absolutely tragedy. That bonehead's movie caused ripple effects in the franchise which are still felt today. I agree SW would be in a different place had this trilogy (or even just 1 movie) been made. Thank you for the interview, had a blast watching it!

What pisses me off the most about the whole Solo situation is that Disney refuses to acknowledge the ACTUAL reason why it didn’t perform well. Its the whole reason we got all these dead shows.
Went from Kenobi being the star in his own movie centered around Luke to being a TV show centered around Reva focused around Leia. Stripping away what people want to throw in DEI is such a proven winning strategy, I don't know why Disney is losing money.
The scene with Flea from RHCP and the kidnappers chasing Leia through the woods tripping on tree branches was ridiculous lmao
It saddens me to see how passionate he was with this project. Then to be cut out of it. Disney could have still brought him in for the TV show and I'm sure he would have edited his script to create a beautiful Obi show.

Incredible interview, incredible story that should have been told. I truly believe had this been made, Star Wars would be in a better position. He needs to be brought back on the Obi Wan project and just tweek the beginning to fit his narrative to tell his story.

It's amazing to see what could have been but it's also completely tragic at the same time as a lifelong Star Wars fan who misses Star Wars.
From fighting through snow to see ROTJ as a little boy to watching reviews now because I can't stand to watch the slop they are making now.
The Last Jedi somehow managed to create a domino effect that destroyed the entire franchise. It's simply impressive

There are literally a hundred plus books, not all great, but a lot of them were, to make 40 Star Wars movies that fit the story and timeline. The Fate of The Jedi series, or The Legacy of The Force series…with great stories featuring both Male and Female heroes and villains. Imagine a movie with Luke, Han, Princess Leia, Mara Jade, and all of the other Jedi’s and their kids??!!! Ben Skywalker, Jaina Solo, Jacen Solo, Anakin Solo, Korin Horn, the Horn twins, Tenel Ka, Alana Solo…Lando!! The Lost Tribe of The Sith! Or the stories of the Moff’s and the little Empires they kept going for years???!!

You can only take a crushing ptsd inducing guilt like that as a former member of the Jedi counsel level of force sensitive and go two directions with it, the dark side, or in rejecting that dark side but neglecting to heal from that guilt you end up resulting in being cut off completely. For an idea that just insulted fans in the show, through such a lens could be a great idea.
PLEASE keep doing these interviews, brining to light all the bs Disney has done and showing what could have been, maybe if these get enough traction it will make Disney change something
