Book an appointment with your GP. Speak to them about it as honestly and openly as you can. Explain and put as much emphasis on how it is impacting your life negatively. Also explain to them which aspects of your life are being affected and how. Is it relationships, work, finances, your overall happiness? If it’s any or all of those things, give a little example of how each thing it being affected. But also outline how these problems are caused by what you believe to be ADHD. Do try to be honest. The more honest you are the more accurately they can assess you. You might not have ADHD and instead have autism, depression or anxeity, so being clear and honest is important for you to get the CORRECT diagnosis and treatment. Once the GP agrees that you could meet the criteria, ask them to book you in with a specialist. The specialist will take you through the official process that your country adheres to throughout the diagnosis process. Check and find out online, what the process is for your country. You may need two people to fill out a collateral form each. One filled out by someone who knew you well as a child, and one who knows you well now as you are today. They too, need to be honest about it. Its best if they fill it out and submit the forms, knowing that you will not see what they’ve written. Because they might be brutally honest and if they know you’re going to see it, they might withhold valuable information. Once the specialist has those, you might get a two hour appointment which would form your formal assessment. They’ll ask you a lot of personal questions, some of which might make you quite emotional just to talk about. They’ll then give you their verdict and explain it to you. Then discuss what you’d like to do about it. Medication, therapy or coaching are the three main options they may suggest. None will “fix” you, you will still have ADHD and always will. But they could make a positive difference to you life overall. No one is the same so it’s something you will have to find out for yourself, which treatment works best for you. Hope this helps!
Not to discourage you from medical diagnosis, but you may want to think hard before getting a formal diagnosis. ADHD is apparently considered a MENTAL ILLNESS in some places. A medical diagnosis becomes part of your "permanent record". This information does NOT STAY PRIVATE. Despite HIPA regulations and other non disclosure laws, numerous situations allow disclosure under certain circumstances. Example; I recently had to renew my driver's license. Several questions on the renewal form deal with mental health. Disclosing an ADHD diagnosis could potentially lead to prohibiting you from driving, or anything else the government de Decides. Different places and government entities do different things, and can change requirements at will. If you think this through, that could have a profound affect on your life. It can restrict you from things you want to do, and force you into other undesirable situations. Examples; it could affect the outcome of a child custody case, or your ability to work in certain jobs, if you are deemed mentally ill. Once others have the information and label you "mentally ill", they can use that information to interfere in your life in whatever ways they choose. Ronald Reagan said the most dangerous words are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you." Just asking you to please carefully consider the potential ramifications and unintended consequences of having such a diagnosis in your records. @@dogdude2457no, still go and get assessed. Because you run the very likely risk of complete burn out, not being able to go any further and it gets harder to get out of that the longer you go undiagnosed, not seeking the resources or support that could actually help you. Some may still regard it a “mental illness”, but I think more people consider it a “mental disorder” which idk if it is worse or bad, but also it can’t be ignored that many people (especially those with ADHD) see it as being simply wired differently, in a way that the systems of the world are not built for. So it’s really up to you to assess how bad your situation is and evaluate everything you’ve tried to make it better - if an ADHD assessment is of consideration but you haven’t tried that yet, you definitely should. I’m in a period between having gotten my preliminary diagnosis and waiting for my definitive diagnosis- literally on the brink lol go get assessed. You don’t have to tell your employers, but for your peace of mind, and Road to getting better, do it. Sorry for the paragraph, really passionate about this right now lol

She was talking about her own experience.
Until people stop stereotyping neurodivergence things will never be understood or improve. Every person on this planet is effected differently by anything in the world around them
