Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey Speed Run Part 1 - How Fast Can We Evolve?

- Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a survival game played from a third-person perspective. In the game, players control a member of an ape clan and have to manage the player character's health by eating, drinking, and sleeping. The game starts in an African jungle, an open world filled with threats including predators like giant birds and poisonous plants. Players can climb any tree in the jungle, though the player character will break its bones if it falls down. As players progress, new areas are opened up for players to explore. When an ape is exploring new locations or being hunted by predators, it will enter a state of "fear" which can be overcome by finding glowing orbs of light, or else it will descend into a state of hysteria. While the world is dangerous, the apes can use their heightened senses to listen to various sounds, such as that of a predator, a lost clan member, or an outsider which can be recruited to the player's clans. The primate can use its intelligence to pinpoint the locations of different items of interest and make new discoveries such as identifying new food or tools. As players continue to make new discoveries, the apes become more intelligent and capable, and new skills such as using leaves to make bedding and medicinal plants to heal themselves are unlocked. If the player character dies, players will shift to controlling another clan member. If all clan members die, the lineage becomes extinct and players need to restart the game.

FINALLY Someone climbed up to the camp as the baby. Ugh nobody does that, why does nobody notice that the game tells you to hide OR find the camp. I always wanted to see it happen

I do it also but you can do oit faster than that no need to climb trees to not get killed nothing attacks you unless the go the opposite way

Before you find/ inspect a meteor bring all kids with you. All of them will gain a mutation if they don’t have one and you will also earn 12 reinforcement points.
how do you bring all kids with you? or do you mean only two or all six with other primates carrying them?

so that's where I got that reinforcement point from I had 6 kids and 7 points
This is a bit late but just carry the meteor to your home base and inspect it there.
@@dibblidyy I played this game a lot and knew how to use the meteorites and to make sure all the kiddiewinks were present. It never occurred to me before to take the meteorites back to camp!

You can swing on all the big bushy green leaves in the jungle trees, it makes it so much easier to traverse the jungle, much faster too.

This should be obvious yet nobody seems to realize that as a jungle ape with swinging arms, you are supposed to use the TREES and not knuckle drag around on the ground.
He does do that, but at the same time, that carries the risk of FALLING TO YOUR DEATH

once the troops can copy and make ther own weapons and such it's pretty good to have them all armed up and use a spear or stick and rock or bone club or wtvr in the off hand so they have something to poke with along with a bashing tool.

You can get neuronal energy from striking prey with the different types of rock tools, including the gems and meteorites.
I you explore with an elder ape, they don't get as scared due to their life experience, I assume.
Got a plat for this game, fucking loved it. Wish we could get a game with a similar concept. Id love to play this for the first time again
I just learned that this game was created by the AC peeps. You can definitely feel the climbing and jumping dynamics are familiar. Very challenging game but one the most original for sure.

Best settlement location seems to be the Cascade. The only thing it lacks is horsehair, but there are fibers in the trees

I was doing this too, started on "survival" instead of "first time" which was intense (they start you as a single male ape alone at a random location) but once you're recruited up to a normal clan size it feels about the same as the first playthrough. The evolution stopping at the new species mark instead of taking me all the 2.5M or whatever years worth of feats I had gained killed the "speedrun" vibe, even if all I did as the second species was pass a single generation then hit evolve again it's not satisfying to not get those big numbers. "Ahead of time" bonuses feel less significant when most of what I did ahead of time isn't applied as points until after they've forced the appropriate evolution onto me. I think maximizing "ahead of science" score might be more about figuring out the optimal order to do everything in than how many things you can cram into your first evolution.
Have you tried having each female reproduce with one adult male and one elder male? Theoretically it would diversify the clan more and might produce more mutations
I'm curious about this, too. I haven't seen anyone do it.

I just noticed through all your streams in this series you've got to do actions with everything even the precious stones (altering, hitting, killing,etc...)
If you check the camp there I think you skipped that you see the falling rock right over camp and the one your play goes to check it out. TheRadBrad was getting ready to go out but people told him to look up and check stuff so after it showed hidden waterfall. The rock went over head of camp and it take's you close to wear the rock hit. TheRadBrad was not ready he did not even have a weapon on him at that time so don't think you did that or seen that.
What I don't get is what new things can you do as you evolve? It feels a bit like the whole game is just a repetetive run of similar actions (craft stuff, eat, drink, etc.) without any actual development of new activities you can engage in as you evolve.
This will become perhaps one of the most optimized games of the year

man have u seen the video of the vuy fast traveling sort of if ur miles away from home let ur bar drop all the way down when a tiger or something is there get the ape to climb a small tree so its fear can go right up and get histeria and it will put u back to camp lol
nice start you killed the bird but never eat it and grind mushrooms eat gives bonus after 2 x less chance of poison just have coconut at hand

I shit you not energy drinks will kill you if you chug em like normal drinks, my kid bro who was a teenager at the time started having chest and arm pain, he was holding a monster energy drink when he told me that. I asked him how many of those he drank a day and he said " i dunno maybe half a dozen" I read him the warnings off the can where it says 1 can per day for an adult as needed. he eased up on those things after that, other folks have had heart attacks and such before getting the message. I know of a preteen who nearly died from heart attacks and other problems from eating junk food and chugging that crap, Don't be flooding your body with that stuff you will regret it.

so how do the games limits work like, generation sizes and such. if you could gradually grow the clan bigger and bigger the possibilities could be quite interesting. maybe they might make another version of the game or something without those limits on clan size or something. I think gradually growing a bigger clan and using the elders as the hunting party or something could be really interesting, better yet if your able to run 2 or 3 clans or something with ther own groups ... again that might be cool for another game or game mode maybe idk. not a game dev. so I've no clue how hard that kinda thing would be to get working in this kind of game.
One o the categories o achievements is Create a Settlement o 16 to 18, if I recall correctly. So I would assume 18 is max--6 adult females, 6 adult males and 6 babies. I think if you recruit strangers before you have 6 babies, it's possible.

@@wepntech I saw someone get three meteors in a row, and when they did a generation leap, they got 16 traits locked. Can't remember for sure, but I think they had 4 children, so it was basically the total number of babies per meteor.

Tag you know its a little faster if you are the male while mating as you can quickly mate with 2/3 females(depending on your preference in gene diversity) and then on the last one have them all give birth. then switch to another male(or the same one w/e) and do it all again (no pun intended)

I've been wondering why sometimes I get more than six reinforcements, makes sense now.
Archmaester Drew you get an extra reinforcement for every baby you have. 6 baby’s when you find the meteor means 12 total
