So in the video, I state that the game does not tell you the sweet spot for crafting and such and I was wrong about this. For some reason, I can not hear the sound. But there is a sound when crafting to tell you the sweet spot. Many have told me while streaming that it sounds like a small chime. I have no idea why but I am deff to it. There is a small ding when doing stuff like fishing and flipping rocks as well. That one I can hear if I crank up the volume. Sorry for the misinformation in the video.
You may have hearing problems for listening to music too loud. It´s quite common unfortunately. The are tests online to see what frequencies you can and can´t hear. Take care and thanks for the tutorial.
It's a bug a lot of us can't hear it as well. Their working on a fix for it hopefully it will get fixed soon. It's not your ears it worked one day and now nothing for some. I hope I don't get it keep up the good work man.
I find the sound prompt nearly impossible to hear without using headphones. If you have trouble hearing the sound I would recommend using headphones, even if just for when you're crafting. And in case @Herman Crespo tries to get on my back about hearing damage I don't listen to music ever, like at all, so there goes that theory. The sound prompt is just very high pitched and some people (even with perfect hearing) may have trouble discerning the frequency without headphones. Human hearing range can vary by individual and trouble hearing the highest and lowest frequencies does not always need to be attributed to hearing damage, but is often simply genetics or gender based.
I can actually hear the chime on your video , but mostly you're talking over it. You can also sharpen a stick with any unmodified rock, but it will take more hits. Also, the little orange dots on your clan circle aren't orange because they're babies, they're orange because they've got genetic mutations. Adults and elders can have those as well.
I bought game yesterday and I found that you can kill the predators too. You wouldn’t believe on how many predators I killed in total. My monkey don’t fear predators, the predators fears me.
@@lthazy2332 when you start getting that fear of the unknown, you would use your senses to identify things near you to keep your dopamine up, that way you won't go into Hysteria which makes you run uncontrollably. Theres a Bee hive on the cliff right inside your base that you can get too by climbing a vine that is located right behind the stick barrier that you built. You can then use the stem to retrieve some honey from the hive by poking it. This goes to anyone who might not have known

Watching this in 2022, thanks SO much for this video. I recently bought this game on sale, and there's SO much the game doesn't tell you about managing your colony, in fact they pretty much tell you nothing, lol. As usual, another great beginner's guide!
@@alexdistefano4281 I'm liking it. It's better than I expected. when it came out, a lot of people gave it bad reviews. I don't really see that much to complain about, but definitely a win-win on sale.
As a baby monkey in the beginning i didnt know i was supposed to hide and ended up finding my clan and continued from there. Took a while to realise i could switch between my monkey friends....
So in the time I've played, here are my tips. Also I'm on PS4. Add me if anyone wants to play or has questions. Omfg-loot 1. Eat, sleep, drink regularly to sustain full health and stamina. 2. On PS4 the X button is your best friend. It does everything from grabbing, drinking, eating, and sleeping. 3. R1 and L1 are used regularly for switching hands and altering numerous things so experiment with altering everything. 4. Eat everything, regardless of it poisoning you or not, you will build a tolerance eventually and with the right mutation, immunity. 5. Different fruits, vegetables, and meats will give you different buffs depending on how it's altered. Some will still buff without altering. 6. You hang from foilage by holding the X button on PS4 and whatever the jump button is on PC. 7. To counter a predator you must have a stick or something similar, sharpened or not. When the prompt to dodge comes up hold the button to dodge and up on the stick toward the predator. If done correctly you'll stab them. Some enemies take more than one hit. 8. Having children is very important, always try to have between 4 and 6 ready to reach adulthood. 9. Mate at your bed after grooming the opposite gender to form a couple, must hold O after the pregnancy while lying in bed to produce offspring. 10. Each female can have two children. Elder females are not fertile but males are. 11. Stay off the ground as often as you can, predators roam all over the place. These aren't in any particular order and I apologise if I missed anything important but I'm willing to answer any questions. Good luck, be patient and you'll do fine.
I love how people complain about the difficulty of the game. That's the point of this game. Switch on your brain and it will be a nice experience. Your ancestors didn't survive by complaining about how hard life is.
Thank you for this tutorial. I had ventured into the jungle and kept dying. I had only two guys left and I thought about restarting the game before I came across this. 😅 You saved more death.
Extremely helpful. This game tells you NOTHING ! I didn’t know any thing about how to make the spear or lift the rocks etc. thanks for the details it makes it a little easier now.
With the stem you can dip it in honey, if you eat the honey you get a snake venom buff but if you alter the stem with honey on it you can apply it to yourself and get a bleeding buff
Beast Haven also some advice, make sharpened sticks and obsidian scrapers even if you don’t need them ( it unlocks neurons) and smell and observe everything with your senses helps a lot
this helped out alot, also the sticks that you make from the natal reeds, if you look up near the waterfall you should see beehive, that you can use the stick with after climbing up near them to dip some honey on it, after examining everything, its a new food source, and it gives a buff against poisons i think,
About the coconuts, you can peel them with your hand to get just the nut. Then use the chopper to poke a hole in it so you can drink, or the scraper to cut it in half so you can eat. This makes coconuts a lot more useful while exploring, since you can avoid water with potential predators around when you need a drink or eat if you need to.
Strip the husk with just your hands, use Basalt chopper to pierce it, take *3* drinks (4 will waste the flesh), Chopper again to open it and then you have food too!
when you'r crafting there is a sweet spot, the ''hold left mouse'' icon on the right will turn black grayish. that's when you have to release it. also it makes a little ping sound. Ps: left of the waterfall in your base there is a small platform on the rock, i found an emerald stone there.. but i broke it while smashing it.
Oh my god, the memorizing trick is a life saver. Im really directionally dumb and in games it puts me at a disadvantage. This will help a lot. The only thing I’d add to your tutorial is that its better to have two babies on your monkey, one in the front and one on the back. And stripped fronds are for getting honey

you can scrape coconuts without a tool, you'll get an unbroken coconut that way... then use a basalt chopper to pierce a hole to drink from it to get the max buffs... and the stem is used for poking beehives for honey or termite hills for termites
Use the cacade stem to get honey from the bee hive in your first camp. You can either eat the honey or you can pull it off and apply it to you to stop bleeding and something else I believe... good full buff if I remember correctly.
They should change the eating animations of the baby. It always looks like I am stuffing my face, and the baby gets nothing. they even grab for it and get nothing. I feel bad every time I do that. Even the face after they grab things matches that notion. It's the face you're making if pizza is on the table and everyone grabs for it and you end up with empty hands. Change it for something like it actually grabbing food from sources I am eating from, and or let me feed it. It would have multiple benefits. I am not feeling bad anymore, and immersion since I could let it eat from sources that are safe and let me keep it from eating dangerous foods. Like it would not eat anything that I have not given it before, but after I have it to it then it will eat on it's own. It would make the babies I am carrying around more than an XP farm. It would look like that I am actually teaching them things.
If anyone doesn't understand what the stripped natal cycad does, it's how you harvest honey to eat. Pro-tip: get a few sticks of honey and have someone in your hunting party carry them, that way when someone gets tagged by a green mamba you can just give them the honey stick and proceed with the hunt.
This video was a perfect guide to help start the game, wasn’t excessive and annoying, taught me a heap of stuff I needed to know and reasonably quickly. well done mate thank you 👏🏽
When you eat something (like meat, eggs, certain mushrooms, etc) DO NOT do anything to skip over the sickness like drinking. You have to ride out the sickness to build tolerance to said food item in a reasonable amount of time, if you drink it makes building tolerance take AGES. Also side note having full bone break resistance does not mean you can fall from any height, if you fall from too high you will still die. Also for food unless it's a vegetable sniff it if the color is even slightly different, this not only is needed for evolution but the reason you get sick when eating fruits isn't because you over ate but because fruit goes bad seemingly at random. Also the timing for counter attacks varies if you find your stick is breaking when you release the button as soon as you hear the quene, then try waiting a second usually a predator starting to open it's mouth or an iriskable lowering its head is a good indicator of when to release the button after hearing the audio quene.
nothing in this game is about pure guesswork, its about learning and every single action has an audio queue for a sweetspot to increase efficiency in every action and minimize expended energy, also each primate can piggyback 2 babies, so when having a clanmate follow you can max out at 4 babies carried for max experience gain
I think that the icon which looks like a gourd represents alcohol. It visually looks like being drunk when it appears and it only comes from fruits. You'll also notice that rotten fruits give you the severe effect while unripe ones don't give it at all, and rope ones give it after eating a lot of fruits. Compared to every other animal in the world, humans have an extreme resistance to alcohol and that, I think, is what they're trying to represent.
Excellent explanation. I've watched many others playing this game & while it's entertaining to see them flailing about in confusion, most really have no idea what they're doing. Good how-to video.
Great fun game , you helped me with husk item and clan management circle in the lower right. Runs great on my Laptop and i hope the console version hits soon as well. Skill chain for evolution is brilliant.
at 08:20 video says, talking about gaining neural energy, "the more babies you have around the better". This means that having two babies on each adult will halves the number of adults you lead, correct?
Here's another useful tip: Make sure you pause right after you drink or eat so that way you don't have to keep pressing down the action button. As you unpause they will continue drinking or eating and you can press action button again to stop.
Once you busy the coconut open you can also click the button again to alter it and the primate will tear off all the stuff from it down to the coconut and you can then eat it.
Couple corrections: you called venom buff/debuff the “poison buff” and you called the poison buff/debuff “whatever this is”. You have them backwards. Just for clarity, the venom buff protects against snake venom, the poison buff protects against being poisoned (food poisoning, etc. but not snake venom). Remember boys and girls: if you bite it and it kills you, it’s poison. If it bites you and kills you, it’s venom. Other correction: if you play on the easiest difficulty it straight up tells you when to release the button for almost any action you perform. It has the audio cue people mention, but also a visual cue where the whole screen flashes green when it’s time to release. Handy to have for your first playthrough as it’s not as much of a guessing game with crafting or other actions. Great video though, you covered most of the basic stuff that the game doesn’t explain. Solid beginner’s guide!
I Was about to say shut up for nit-picking but I expanded the comment and saw what you were on about, sorry mate 😂😂 but thanks for those clarifications it helped 👍🏽

At the start of the game its possible to make it back to your tribe as a baby ...you dont need to wait for an adult to rescue you....I decided i was just gunna get myself back....but once you get back you DONT get any kind of bonus for finding your own way and conquering your fears....It would have been nice to get some kind of experience upgrade for making it back on your own as a baby primate.
You honestly think that is what they thought too when they survive everyday and night? You think that’s what we should be getting now? That is not how life is. If you want required for stupid small things, then you’re playing the wrong game. Go play Elden Ring if you want that just by unlocking a new area or defeating small monsters.

Bruh this game was pissing me tf off, had to figure out wtf I was doing
Like we’re dumber than the cavemen and apes😂😂
It's seriously amazing when you find out how too use your brain
@@Cielos_War_Angels7 it's stupid we have have figure out how to drink ? Makes no sense
Thank u man I just got the game today and had no clue how to advance
This video helped me
So u got a new subscriber now 🥰😁
You can carry two babies at a time, one on the chest and one on the back. Your clan can have up to 6 babies at a time.
at 08:20 video says, talking about gaining neural energy, "the more babies you have around the better". This means that having two babies on each adult will halves the number of adults you lead, correct?
OMG, I love you! This video has just saved me so many hours of confusion and frustration... thank you!
Aiden Bex I’m so pissed
Late to the party but this game is F@cking amazing!!!!
Stems are used to get honey out beehives and termites out of mounts
Bro you know ALOT about this game please a series??
Here's another useful tip: Make sure you pause right after you drink or eat so that way you don't have to keep pressing down the action button. As you unpause they will continue drinking or eating and you can press action button again to stop.
Oh my God, are you serious? Drinking is the worst part of this for me so far. I didn't even know that was a thing. Thank YOU.
Once you busy the coconut open you can also click the button again to alter it and the primate will tear off all the stuff from it down to the coconut and you can then eat it.
It takes FOREVER to eat sadly ✋️💀 my bf almost got killed by a tiger after eating it cuz it just took forever 🤣🤣
Actually carrying 2 was mentioned sometime in the beginning 😂
I was so lost I had to watch this tutorial lol
I'd love to see you stream this game. Watching others struggle with it is such a pain.
this game is made to struvgle with things at first.
Watch tagbacktv
i played this for the first time and I had no idea what I was doing
Now you know how our ancestors felt.
@@billybilson7654 pretty sure our ancestors knew what to eat and how to drink and how to act as a group
22:40 the stem is for picking into hives to get honey and termite mounds to get termites
This is the manual this game needed. I'm all for games not hand-holding you, but I feel like this game needs a little more explanation than it has before throwing you into the wild.
@goran stojanovic What part of my logical brain was supposed to tell me that you can crack a coconut with obsidian, but not with a normal rock?
@@drummond13 You can crack a coconut with a normal rock you stinky boy.
@@jarlballinofswagrun4229 News to me. I tried for about ten minutes with no success. Still don't see how that's the fault of my illogical brain.
drummond13 i cracked a coconut on second attempt when i realized a sound plays that lets you know when to let go..
@@thefinestvahqlos1562 (Bows to The Finest Vahqlos' superior coconut cracking skills)
I'll listen for it next time. My illogical mind just didn't figure sounds playing were what guided our ancestors in their quest for coconuts.
this game fascinated me i didnt realize how hard itd be
“WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!!!” -Proximus
Thank you for this. You made it clear interesting and informative, until now I wasn't sure about this game but after watching this and with the way you presented it I think it's something that I will enjoy . Many thanks
Looks interesting! Never seen a game like this before.
That’s because there are no other games like this
@@Rusty-yk2bd assasins creed
cristian crandall the only thing that is like Assassins creed in this game is the climbing and the climbing is still very different
cristian crandall you must’ve never played either of those games lol...
@@cristiancrandall7217 i thought of assassins creed too. The climbing is lime identical and skill trees. Yeah
22:31 you use that to get honey. It'll give you a buff against poison and snake venom
Also you can go to your clan instead of going for the hiding spot it just makes it faster
Yup I did that
the small stick can be used to get honey from the bee hive
thanks man i was wondering where the small sticks where good for!
Just so yall know for a tip the crafting does have an audio Q.
what is it? Cause I don't hear it. I hear it when I flip rocks but not bashing things.
@@Firespark81 took me some time to find it. its a small sound when you need th relese listen and you will hear it
if there isn't a sound then u can't combine the items
"Because you have to inspect everything as a monke" :D
I had no idea i had to feed them all!!!!!!!!!!!!
please do a gameplay. it would be really great to watch someone who knows the game
This might be not that much but u can carry two babies at the same time and so increase ur total xp gain, the same to ur followers
Thats good info for newbs, he really shouldve said that if he knew it
Use the stick from the palm fronds to get honey from above camp!!!
You can carry 2 babies at the same time. The video didn't mention this, it's always best to have 2.
I did and i felt overwhelmed by the responsibility 😂
This was so helpful. There's so much I had no idea about.
They do give a tip on the crafting. It is a clock click timing on it .
There’s a chime when altering that lets you known when to let go
Steven Donate do u understand the game?😂
I’m sure you know by now but for hose that don’t when bashing or stripping you’ll hear an audible ping when you are supposed to let go :)
im over here husking coconuts like an idiot
Man thanks for this video. Felt completely lost on my first game...
thanks for this, i was getting no where for 4 hours
you can also carry up to two babies per primate
Dip that stem from altering the grass in the bee hive to get honey.
You sure?
26:39 I was bad at spreading my genes but I was the apex predator while my lineage was alive.
Excellent and thorough and much needed description of the game mechanics. Many thanks.
You can also carry 2 babies at 1 time
But does it double the experience?
@@Mara6043 Seems to.
Wait wuuuut. Two babies means double experience? I guess the downside is if you venture out like that, you're risking two babies.
@@rolandaustria7926 and controlling 1 baby at time one will die for sure
@@Mara6043 no because if the carrier of the babies die you will control one of the babies and the other will follow and hide in the same place
Primate can carry TWO babies each, increases benefit.
thanks for the tips! I'm also thankful that your voice is not obnoxious and annoying like most other youtubers lol. You also explain it all very well so for that I subbed up.
Quick tip. Put a baby on your back and on your stomach. Having 2 babies levels you quicker.
for crasting and things like fishing there is a faint sound that lets you know when to let go of the button you are pressing
was just going to say the same thing ^_^ ..and you can use a rock to make a sharpened stick, you don't need that "fancy" thing he created.
If you listen closely while he's crafting you hear a small auditable ping that ping is a sweet spot indicator. You can also piggyback two baby chimps
Watching this 3 years later, the leaf when stripped, can be used to dip in the bee hive for honey.
Same, and you can use the unstripped branches to make barricades
Very good guide. Please describe now evolution systems, generations of clan
just posted a video on evolution.
Two tips you use intelligence to find the fiber and you can alter the cracked cocos with stripping
Thank you!! While i usually love when the devs are hands off, there is a bit of help that is nice when it comes to community. So when you really are confused or stuck you can come find some wonderful person like this whom has trialed and tries now to help others.
there is a map available on google if that helps
you are most likely the first person I see who doesn't sharpen his spear with just plain old rocks and it really makes a difference.
