- Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a survival game played from a third-person perspective. In the game, players control a member of an ape clan and have to manage the player character's health by eating, drinking, and sleeping. The game starts in an African jungle, an open world filled with threats including predators like giant birds and poisonous plants. Players can climb any tree in the jungle, though the player character will break its bones if it falls down. As players progress, new areas are opened up for players to explore. When an ape is exploring new locations or being hunted by predators, it will enter a state of "fear" which can be overcome by finding glowing orbs of light, or else it will descend into a state of hysteria. While the world is dangerous, the apes can use their heightened senses to listen to various sounds, such as that of a predator, a lost clan member, or an outsider which can be recruited to the player's clans. The primate can use its intelligence to pinpoint the locations of different items of interest and make new discoveries such as identifying new food or tools. As players continue to make new discoveries, the apes become more intelligent and capable, and new skills such as using leaves to make bedding and medicinal plants to heal themselves are unlocked. If the player character dies, players will shift to controlling another clan member. If all clan members die, the lineage becomes extinct and players need to restart the game.

This guy sucks, he doesnt try new things at all. He stays close to his settlement because he's scared, and runs around in circles thinking of something to do for half of the videos. Check out RiotGaming if you want to see real progression.

I like watching Tag because he does long videos and he's entertaining BUT RiotGaming explores and does new things a lot more. I thoroughly enjoy watching both though. Their approaches to the game are different.

@@JohnyTuff1 I was struggling watching Riot the first couple episodes because he was so blind to so many things. Ignored how to fight and then complained the game didnt tell him how. If that has changed in more recent episodes I might check them out.
you have to overcome fears when it goes dark and those red eyes show up, you walk around and discover things until that centre white circle is complete a
d then walk into the bright glowing orb and it will say 'overcome fear'

Thank you!! I did this twice out of instinct when I was roaming solo, but when I wanted to resettle with whole clan I didn’t know wtf to do and kept going into hysteria lolol
yeah and he also has to pay attention to which of the two white circles is the real one and which is the reflection, bc if not he'll just go the wrong way x)
its litteraly the first thing you learn in the beginning by rescuing the kidape.
I recommend going into new areas with adults instead of elders, this allows you to face your fears and open new neurons

Great game, great play through! I only wish the clan would be smart enough to eat and drink while carrying a weapon. Right now the dudes with sticks just watch the others eat/drink and hold their own bellies with obvious hunger pangs. The game shouldn’t force the player to micromanage those natural survival functions.

Note: When everything becomes "scary" to your ape, just identify everything until it says you have rationalized your surroundings and go to the "conquer zone"

RIP Elder Female named Ab( 3:27:36 ). She was bleeding and freezing for an entire night and then even her sharpened stick was stolen at 3:29:00 before she died while trying to drink some water during all the commotion.

Man, maybe u r right and elders just die from being old, but I've already seen 3 of them who were injured and bleeding and you missed to treat them, maybe they died because of their injuries..... I cannot know for sure, but looks like it. Great content anyway, i trully enjoyed it.

I Love this game! The Graphics are amazing and the gameplay. It's really entertaining watching u play 👍.
You have to conquer your fears by going into the white light. That is how you conquer the fear of your entire group. Take one of the afraid adults and whenever he is afraid find the white light and going to it. Whenever you were afraid start out by focusing on a bunch of objects nearby and then it will say your surroundings have been a rationalized then you go into the white light and then you could conquer your fear and you will no longer be afraid

you said "it doesn't work" but its because a) have to rationalize your surroundings and b) have to go to the white (big) circle on the main screen of which the little white vectors rush towards.

if u move after completing crafting before you make them mimic you it disrupt them copying you.
Note: I am at the end of your stream on this and you still have not realized that you can identify objects to rationalize your fear and reach the "conquer" zone. Try it next time. Really helps. Learned from watching mfireandice

that was hard to watch when you did the evolution. the game said you would be relocated to a random spot. your thought process of what happen was gold you thought you were at the cliff overhang but a million years later omg i love it. not the reaction i was expecting to completely losing your old hang out with your hoard.I spent hours there i had so much stuff gone .But good job so far on the evo jump.i cant wait to see how this pans out from here i chose the cave as my spot for a little bit thats where i was sent ,then i moved straight east out of the cave to split waterfall

@TagBackTV Building is based on which direction you are facing when you start construction, It will always make a straight wall directly in front of you running from right to left. So make sure you are facing the right direction when you begin construction. AKA make sure the other wall is directly to your right or left and your new wall will line up.
That fear screen is because you're in a new place you have to explore and investigate everything around you until it becomes familiar it also gives you more neural points

I get the impression that no matter the game, Mr. Tag finds a way to get tree'd. Run into it on foot or by horse, fall off it, crash while attempting a jump...

about the mimic, think about it as a game designer. It is pretty simple to make code to mimic a single action, but to alter something and strike until sharpened is multiple actions combined. It would be pretty difficult to know how many actions prior you need to mimic, so it's probably not in the code. However, if you mimic after every successful hit, you might be able to do it if you do that multiple times granted you could make them actually alter it. However, as noted this time, they didn't even mimic the action, but earlier, they mimiced the action (i think,) but i wouldn't waste too much time with it if i were you.
You can increase medicine efficient (full shield) by grinding herbs and pink good. make a grinder rock first. Good luck 👌🏽

Lol me iam terrified of spiders its a evolutionary trait cause i come from a tropical landscape and lots of poisonous spiders and snakes. Iam also natural born to climb trees also naturally fast. Also i got super quick reflexes and field of vision. All evolutionary from where i come from.
@@catvapecult5876 Yeah, I don't like them much either. Of course, most of them where I'm from (North America) are pretty small. I'm used to them running away from me. Especially if I started waving a long stick at them. So my instinct is to use the "intimidate" tactic. Where you are from, I guess that could get you bitten by 8-10 of them, and they would lay eggs in your dead body. I was just teasing Tag a bit. He is not the least bit afraid to face a 30 foot long python or a Jaguar, but a few small spiders spooked him.

Watching this a year later and knowing more about the game makes it certain parts of this frustrating to listen to/watch. Like the "dying of old age in game" thing. But I missed the game when it first came out so it's kind of funny to see how clueless everyone was when it first came out lol

I moved to this cave and can't deal with the constant lion attacks. Think I might start over and explore more. I tried going on a big exploration with three adult apes with six kids along, and that worked fine. Then I moved in here and got toasted by lions and don't have enough sticks or anti-bleed stuff.
I'm not sure if you figured it out but I think you have to have them mimic one swipe at a time to sharpen the stick along with everything else that takes a few hit or cut

I'm also assuming by now some one has told you that the black areas there are two white dots, one takes you home the other one is wher you Conquer your fear. It allows you to expand your territory

Not trying to be negative but with a game like this you actually need to plan ahead and think about how to utilize your resources and skills. Strategy is crucial and effective team management is necessary. Try to think like a military commander.
Several mistakes:
Takes clan - clan members are hungry - ignores clan.
Doesn't arn clan members with 2 sharp sticks each. So when you take a stick you leave that member unarmed.
Doesn't identify enough things while traveling. This reduces neural energy.
Isn't always carrying a baby which would increase the chance of a random mutation.
Doesn't find meteorites while carrying a baby which would drastically increase mutation.
After taking a stick from a clan member doesn't give that member any medicinal plants/food to carry. Which would be extremely helpful for treating bleeding, broken bones, poisoning, hunger and upset stomach.
Doesn't carry medicine or food for recruiting new members.
Doesn't keep at least 3 weapons beside the bed.
Doesn't keep all clan members armed while in camp making them vulnerable rather than safe.
Doesn't sample every available food source.
Doesn't have medical plants in hand when trying new food.
Often ignores hunger, thirst and stamina.
Uses the oldest and weakest members when he should be using an adult male.
When in a weakened state engages in strenuous activities such as jumping and running which drains the clan members health to the point of risking death.
Not sure if this is due to a lack of tactical reasoning skills, foresight, problem solving skills, lack of management skills, if he simply doesn't care, or hasn't even considered how to properly plan for how to survive with a limited skill set/mental capacity.
My recommendation is to travel in a small group of well armed clan members. As soon as a hand is empty fill it with a vital resource, make sure everyone is at full health before departure, explore everything within a small defined area, make short trips and resupply on the go.
@i'm not here yeah i noticed that as well, but remember this is an early gameplay walkthrough and he does get better over time, its easy to criticise when you are watching someone else play, there were a lot of bugs in this game, i do agree that you should not take elders on trips, nor should you take males as they can breed as elders, i take 2 females and am a female myself and take the 6 babies only when going to a meteor site to get the 12 reinforcements, otherwise i take myself with 2 babies and 1 other female exploring.

I agree with you on the spider front. I'm a wow player and a lot of the spiders in that game, are roughly about the size of a full-grown German Shepherd. So yeah, spiders are definitely a no-go for me too

Extra note: I "think" you miscalculated. Based on what i have observed during your whole video, the idea that dark white vs light smaller white dots are the difference between adults and elders. When the clan member died, a bigger white dot disappeared which means it was a normal clan member. whether or not it was a male or female is what im trying to discern. Still trying to figure out what the larger yellow dots mean.
You may not be able to find any new clan members in the wild because you have too many following you already when you leave the camp

Note: I think large yellow circles are females and small yellow circles are children. I think that small white circles are adult males and lightly faded white bigger circles are elders. Please confirm this. If this is correct, then you are missing out on 2 possible babies. IF you have the female mother carry the babies then the children are right under the bigger yellow circle which support my hypothesis. Of which 4 yellow circles x 2 babies per female should mean you have 8 babies but yet you only have 6 it looks like (at least at 1:46:39) (ps. i don't have 3 hrs to sit down at once but i do watch all of your videos because youre faster at uploading this and you are more knowledgable than my fav lets player, theradbrad
how do you tell that the clan is hungry? You just instictively knew they weren't thirsty? I never see anyone check the status of the 3 circles until they wake up (which i think is automatic) or if the circle is completely depleted.

If anyones watching this months down the line to work out where your settlement ends use your baby as they can only stay in the settlement. Becomes scary when they go outside, you'll know where your settlement ends and another starts
