I got sunk today by a athena while I was doing a veil solo even when I told them to stop they just sunk me anyway. People like that are entitled idiots who think they deserve everything. If your not a reaper and respect people then you are better than them by far. They might be good at pvp but other than that there stupid. As much as someone like that needs a punch to the face it will never change so if you get sunk by a reaper don't get angry that's what they want. You are better than them in every way. They will grow up to be fat 30 year Olds living in there mama's basement. Be RESPECTFUL.

The biggest mistakes that cost us our ship early on were:
    1. Panicking about holes instead of actively fighting back or prioritising to fix mobility.
    2. Not boarding enemy ships.
    3. Getting overwhelmed by fire

I rarely (if ever) get in to any situation where I need harpoons to get out.
    1- Raise your sails
2- Move wheel all the way to the left and wait for the ship to move as far as it will go.
3- Turn the wheel all the way to the right and wait for it to move.
Repeating steps 2-3 usually gently rocks you out of any tight spot until it turns enough to just sail away.

      3 issues
      1. You get the skelly sinkers who think "easy loot" and immediately rush over to fight.
      2. an audio cue plays when you see a skelly ship in your spyglass

    Thank you for your videos!
Today, I was doing a solo sloop reaper's session. Not for the loot, but rather to train. To bring enemies to me.
I found one sloop parked at an island, and sunk it. Then went for a reaper's chest. They came back, took me by surprise, so I sailed away. As we got past a fort, I decided to try out what I saw in your videos!
Went to a tower, shot a chainshot and an anchorball, and boarded with a keg. Didn't take long to sink them again.
So thank you for your videos! Applying what I see in it allows me to improve.

Another common player mistake: Leaving your ship's lanterns on will make experienced thirsty players lock on to you like a guided missile of sinking potential.

Facts! Got chased for 30 mins right after spawning in...had NOTHING to gain, but still got chased... thinking back on it, im glad i saw them early enough to take off and mix them with another ship that WANTED pvp, but it also could have been a good opportunity to scuttle/tuck...every encounter is an opportunity to be more pirate, but chasing fresh spawns or noobs who have literally nothing but a ship is just not worth anyones time

No matter how many tips and tricks videos I watch I still feel like I'm always out of classed
Because the way this kind of works is that depending on who attacks you you either win or you lose if it's a new player or a person of your skill level you can probably win but if it's a person who's actually good at the game and it's kind of a sweat you might as well admit defeat as soon as you see them coming after you because they're just naturally better at the game than you and they will always win no matter how hard you try to defend yourself

    • @Neurofen
      @Neurofen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

If you throw the fight before it even began, how can you improve your skills? I still think it's always worth the fight, even if you lose. You learn about PvP tactics other crews are using and get prepared for the next encounters. It's obvious that a new player is guaranteed to lose against someone with over 100 hours on the clock, but if you give up in the first place, you will never get better.
Like getting killed from a boss in a souls game and saying "nah, too hard for me", why even start playing? You knew what was waiting for you, didn't you? Every start is at the bottom, you just gotta stick to it.

    • @magicpyroninja

See thieves the skill-based game and like any skills if you work on them you can improve upon them if you give up the fight before fighting you will learn nothing about the fight and you will not improve everybody even the best players sink on occasion you can't take it to heart and you can't take it personally you just have to get back on your ship and try again eventually you'll get to a point where you're winning those encounters more than you're losing them

This is not a champion mind set. Wanna get better? Go hunting DA sails. You're Gunna lose alot but eventually it will be less and less and all of a sudden you're the sweat. The first time I got the chest of sorrows I was at one of those red pirate captain ghost raid thingies. Thinking that all the loot would be on the island, and seeing as my ship was being decimated, I fired myself onto the island and watched as my ship sank. I found the chest of sorrows and thought it looked valuable, so I took a rowboat off of the island and rowed and rowed and rowed until I found an outpost to sell it. The greatest tip I can give is to simply detatch yourself emotionally from your loot!!
As the pirate lord says, it's not about the gold it's about the glory!
Once you are less precious about the loot you realise that amassing great wealth is kinda pointless as you can only buy cosmetics (which is cool, and I support it, but it reduces the loss when you lose loot see?).
The real experience of this game is the adventure and the stories.
I get a lot more fun now from not running from fights, and actually from using Open Crew more! Solo is Hard Mode for SoT. So consider Open Crew even on a Sloop as that's where all the good players seem to be. Whereas Galleon Open Crew is more chaotic but still fun. Remember you can quit and research for Open as well if your crew are annoying.

It's in the SoT codex not to grief new players. Rather leave them alone or explain them instead of sinking them for easy loot would be recommended. Their are alot of people who sink ships while players are doing tall tales and there is literally nothing you can do about it.

So thats why my ship disappeared on one of my first voyages! I was so confused as to why that happened and I've been paranoid about it happening again ever since because I lost so much loot that day. Now that I know what causes it and how to avoid it, I can definitely rest easier knowing my ship won't randomly despawn when I'm away from it

You can put the chest of sorrows in your row boat if you have one or you can put it on the point of the bow of your ship. That way it can cry all it likes and it won't affect your ship.

I just had a bit of misfortune solo slooping. I found some decent loot, just a couple pieces, and I was in the process of taking it back to an outpost when on the way, I noticed a bunch of barrels in the water, but I noticed it too late, as it was right in front of me. I began to turn, but ended up hitting a gunpowder keg, that severely damaged my ship and tossed me into the water. My ship's helm was hard to port at that time, and it kept turning, making it somewhat easier for me to get back on, but I had to wait for it to turn back around. Once I was back on, it was too late, I heard the death creaks. I could only get one scoop of water from below before it sank.
I respawned only a handful of kilometers away, so I set back that direction. But when I got there, there was Nothing in the water. So I decided to just go back to try and get more loot. But as soon as I turned, a Kraken decided to visit me. I just quit the game before anything happened.

My first experience with the chest of sorrows I picked it up at the same time as a chest of rage. Set them next to each other in the cargo hold. They cancel each other out nicely. The second time I picked up a chest of sorrows I didn't realize how quickly they can flood a ship. That crying chest sank my battleship...

    • @BeazleyStudios
      @BeazleyStudios 2 ปีที่แล้ว

One time, my crew and I stuck the chest of sorrows in our row boat then used the row boat's harpoon to latch onto the back of the ship. We pulled the row boat to the outpost and sold it without having to worry about it flooding the ship. Honestly, we didn't think it would work.

Been playing a couple years now and never knew it would respawn if you're touching ground. Never had it happen but now that I think about it, I was anchored hiding my silhouette against a rock formation while I was diving a shrine and came back to floating loot and no ship. I couldn't figure out why someone would find it, sink it, and leave everything. I bet it was up against the rocks and this happened.

I remember when I found the sorrows chest the first time. I made the connection of it filling up my ship quick, and I left it, and all my other loot, in the rowboat on the stern, thinking that it wouldn’t fill up my ship if not technically on my ship, right?
My ship sunk. But since I already had all my loot on the rowboat, and the rowboats don’t sink with the ships, and I had a heading for the nearest outpost, I just paddled all the way there. Lesson learned

I remember when I found a villain skull a duo of two other new players walked onto my ship and took it. Just like that they just waltz onto my tiny sloop to put the skull on their sloop. I didn't know what happened, so I just shrugged it off and continued my journey in the new adventure I was having.

write that down, write that down!
We found out about the ship disappearing after 10m recently, we were selling at Reapers and we crashed the ship to make it easier to drop stuff, we had a decent amount of loot so it took time to sell everything and a few secs after we removed the emissary flag our ship disappeared :o, we were lucky.

I've lost count of how many times I've rage quit Sea of Thieves in the last 4 years. Rare created a beautiful world but there are just some things that annoy me. The first is the wind currents. It seems that with every destination we need to get to, we have a head wind. There is no consistency with the currents, you can literally stay anchored at one spot and watch the currents change direction. One day I watched for 15 minutes the winds shifted 180 degrees. The wind shouldn't change like that while staying in one spot. It would make more sense to have a current flowing in one direct across whole sections of the map. Like having Row A & B with wind flowing West to East, then Row C & D flowing East to West. The second is how "Random" the boss encounters are. One night my crew and I had a skeleton galleon chasing us, then the Kraken appeared and attacked us. So we're defending from the Kraken and a Skellie Gallon. While we were stuck there, a large storm rolled over us then just as we're escaping from the Kraken's black ink (the Kraken actually attacked the Skellie so that helped us escape), a Meg showed up. Like many, my biggest gripe though is the PvP mixed in with PvE. Sea of Thieves would have worked great as a massive Co-Op adventure with a PvP option for those that like it. I just prefer going against tougher NPC enemies than having to worry about players who I know are far better at the game then I am.

You can get the ship stuck so bad that you can't get it unstuck with the harpoons. I've had to use full sail and harpoons. I've also had to stack a few kegs under the bow and blow them up. Of course me trying to run over the island was the original cause of this in both cases.

Bonus mistake, not listening when others talk thus accidentally interrupting people. And please do not get angry when people think you’re bad because of it, because it would just ruin the game for you and you’d go screaming on Reddit about how your ship skin is not terrible or something.

You forgot to mention leaving all your lamps on, makes you stand out very easy at night.
For some reason I always get stuck with the noobs who think dropping the anchor the second the island title pops up is a good idea when your the one thats been piloting the ship for the last hour and have not once mentioned to drop anchor. Although it is funny watching them swim with a chest for 3 minutes just to get back to the ship only to be killed by a shark once they almost reach the ship.

I wouldn't say the Reaper's mark has been "replaced", as you can fly the mark at the same time you do Reaper's emissary. This is what I do all the time, 'cause why not? But I do admit most people don't, and I think that's a shame. The Reaper's mark just looks so damn cool...
