Dear Phuzzy I love this game and have found your videos to be very helpful. I am fairly new to the game. Is there any helpful advice you could give a new solo sloop player?
As a routine solo player, best advice I can give is 2 part, 1, never run from a fight, you'll always get better and more out of it by taking it (even if you sink), and 2, loot isn't everything. You'll sink a lot as a solo and lose a lot of loot, but you'll learn/get better at the game faster than anyone with a crew since you're doing it all yourself. Happy sailing and remember, it's not about the gold, its about the glory! :)
I’m a solo that has played a long while just be ready to sink lots especially if your a solo reaper and don’t sell till level 5 but you get a lot of experience if you do raise reapers
I agree with these replies and also I highly second what HiddenSquid said- never run from a fight. I don't know if I'm getting lucky, but when I run merchant and dudes wanna attack me, I attack back and hard. Lots of fire pots. Then I pull away and they don't usually pursue. This also helps you "get good." Unless it's some galleon of sweats and open mic chat- you gotta sink those guys and/or find a new server.
@@mojaeger85 very much agree ^^ also one thing with fighting, this game is literally designed to be easier with a larger crew so there are some fights you literally can't win as a solo (if the bigger crew is just as or more competent than you) so accepting that early on makes the game a lot more fun
As a pirate legend with no one to sail with, the only 2 things you need to do are fire the cannons until you're out of ammo, and bucket faster than any galleon will understand. Good luck
The update has been delayed on Xbox. I just logged on to check it out & there's a message saying there's a slight delay & it'll sail into port on the 4th Aug for Xbox players
So the Progress for the Customizations is for each ship? So if i'm playing with a Friend and we sail on his ship, every Milestoneprogress is only for his ship. So when we play on another Server and it's my ship this time, we have to do everything again, if i want the same thing for my Ship?
@@zebdawson3687 Because otherwise, this new NPC is in my opinion is completly useless and a waste of time comparing to what we can do already. @@zebdawson3687 Little bit of an edgelord there, aren't you? Plus Rare said selling to the sovereigns is identical to selling to the guild in their video, so you aren't even correct.
I think it's actually better that way. Think of it like this: you're going over to an outpost and you want to sell a lot of loot, but you dont want to actively go off to reaper's hideout or sell things at the individual outposts because that is way too slow, especially since there is a galleon after you. Youd want to sell the stuff at the sovereigns for money, however the prices will be lower as a consequence. Youll still get an okay amount of coin, especially for how fast everything can be stacked and sold, however the lesser prices are your consequence for selling things so quickly to the sovereigns.
might just have been placeholder value for the build of the game, im no expert and i could be totally wrong but everything sold in the trailer was low value so it might just be to hide the real values until the update drops
@@warlic5413 that’s what I thought but who knows maybe they nerf all the items to make gold more valuable. But the logical guess would be a place holder
Honestly, fighting anyone can scare them off. I've learned to just be aggressive and when you damage their ship enough and pull off from the fight, they tend to stay away.
Ihave a question about it though. Let's say I buy my own sloop. If I play with it and it sinks for X reason. Will respawning it cost a fee, inferior to the ship value, or will I have to buy another sloop?
You will never lose the ship or have to pay for it again unless you decide to disband the ship, the only difference between respawning a normal ship and captained ship is that the battle scars will still stay
Does anyone know if I do a gally if my friends will earn milestones as well? if not guess Solo sloop will be the only thing any of us commendation hunters will be doing.

@@Zer0____L “non PvP reaper” makes no sense to me. You don’t have to PvP n order to sell ALL of your loot at reaper’s. In fact, it’s a running joke that “reapers run”, because most people flying a reaper flag are PvE players who don’t want to fight. Alternatively you can do what I do: stack loot on my ship (with no emissary flag), sail to reaper’s raise the flag and sell my loot. I still get emissary ledger progress and reaper rep, without the risks of flying a flag that gives my location away on the map. This game is FULL of risks vs rewards. The choices are up to the players in what risks they take for those rewards. For example, this new faction: the “risk” is losing out on emissary bonus (if you’re flying a flag), loss in profit, but the reward is turning in loot much faster. There’s a choice here, just like every other aspect of the game. If you don’t like it, then your choice is already made. EZ
Actually, Sovereigns will be the only Guild where to sell loot if you are a Captain and you aren't playing Reapers or Hunters. There are literally no downsides to it. Flip a coin or something, arm wrestle about it. idk
So very excited!
What happens if the ship sinks ? Just a reset on the captain logbook ?
Yup
Do you have to purchese the ship every session? Or does it stay forever? And can you change the cosmetics or they are permament?
It stays forever, and you can change cosmetics as you please but saving them costs gold
@@PhuzzyBond thanks❤️
that was fast
edit: I hope I will not have to buy a new ship when I sink
No you wont. Knowing rare with really expensive things, whatever you put in with your captaincy will be permanent and you wont have to rebuy stuff
@@absentisomnis8650 And Will I be able to buy all ships or only one at a time? :D
Fuzzy and others have confirmed that you don't. You only need to buy each ship type once.
@@mothman8300 so I can own every ship type nice
Can you change your ships size in game
0:45 well, since you buy it from the emporium, I guess you'll probably pay with ancient coins, and with seasons it's pretty easy to get your hands on some? (:
It only cost money (ancient coins) to change the name AFTER you’ve already set it. Just choose a name you really like and don’t bother paying to change it. EZ

I wonder if Rare looks at other happenings in the Live Service game industry, and if the MASSIVE surge of people flooding back into GTA: Online (because of the QOL update that allows you to do ALL the money-making "Sell" missions in private sessions), and reconsider their stance on adding offline/solo/invite only servers? 🤔
Bad idea
@@victorramirez3411 Yeah, a lot of players playing your game that is entirely fueled by cosmetics that you can buy with real money is actually a bad idea. 😂
@@TheREALBOJACK I dont understand; can you elaborate?
@@victorramirez3411 Rare makes more money (and can, therefore, reinvest more money back into SoT making the game better) when more people play SoT.
More people playing = More people buying cosmetics = More Money = Bigger Team = More Game improvements
And now there's definitive proof that adding "play without worrying about hostile players" = a LOT of renewed interest (and players) in your game.
🤷♂️
@@TheREALBOJACK I hate getting sunk by a ship and my loot being plundered just like the next guy, but that rush when your ship is caked full of loot and you are desperately trying to take it to an outpost is what sea of thieves is about. If PvE servers were around, then regular servers would just turn into an arena sequel. Why risk grinding on a public server when you can just make millions on a private one? PvE servers ruin the whole point of the game, and the last thing we want is for it to become something like GTAV online. Everything in sea of thieves is fair, nothing you buy can give you a huge advantage. Or in simple terms:
"Git gud."

Well so much for my ritual sinking at the end of voyages 🤣
Can your captain voyages get stolen or lost when you sink?
Thanks for the amazing content as always
Great Video! Does anyone know what sword this is at 00:35?
A quick question will selling to soverigns increase my company lvl and emissory ledger or not??
Yeah it will
Are we supposed to do something with our logbook before leaving the game? When I start I often just seem them floating at outposts.
When i sell to the sovereign, will i level up different factions that take the loot, or do i need to have their flag up? Havent really understodd that system
Nice video! Do you have to buy a new ship when your ship sinks, because that would be very expensive
As far as I and others I have seen talking about it know, you only need to buy each ship type once.
@@mothman8300 OK, thank you! :)
You ship = your ship* btw
Actually, As for now ... Registering any customisation is bugged (like many other things) so you pay gold for nothing because your ship might spawn with no skin even if you spent some gold to register the skins.
I recommand to just put the skin you like (like you did before) until they fix this !
I just basically watched the trailer twice now 🤣
Now I can name my sloop, “The Scurrying Rat”
when you buy supplies is it the same as when you use to do it through merchants with the crates? So after you log off will you have to rebuy everything or will the supplies you had left carry over with the ship damage? Also the captain voyages do those go away after logging off? Was trying to find a clarification somewhere but couldn't find it so thought id ask here.
Captain voyages stay, but "provisions" don't, which are the supplies you buy from the shipwright, they also go straight to ship, no crates
@@PhuzzyBond thank you phuzzy for answering that
FYI: you can grab athenas voyages for your ship with the new system even if you aren't legend!!!
If you sell to the sovereigns do you still get experience for the faction the item belongs to?
Just go to reapers hideout with emissary flag and sell them? It multiplies and even is easier than the sovereign
Sovereign is faster
And reaper puts you on the map
But reaper gives a bonus for everything
The resources on the ship go away if the gets destroyed ?
So ive bought the pieces to save on my ship and everytime I quit the game and come back in it defaults to the generic ship with only a few of the items I placed around saved and everything else gone. Please fix this bug rare
I suck at coming up with creative names (as you can tell by my TH-cam username) so hopefully I come up with something good the first time and don't have to buy a bunch of ancient coins...
Get this man some suggestions, people!
I suggest naming it the "Sand Shark", after the real animal.
Do you have a starting point for the name?
What interests/hobby do you have?
Favorite animal?
Favorite color?
If your ship sinks, does it respawn damaged or fixed?
Dibs on "Storm That Is Approaching"
The part I dont get is that you have to pay gold everytime you want to change your ship cosmetics?
So my ship keeps all the supplies if I leave the server without sinking or?
That's what I'm hoping for. But I doubt it.
The update doesn’t launch for another three days??
As a pirate legend with no one to sail
with, the only 2 things you need to do are fire the cannons until you're out of ammo, and bucket faster than any galleon will understand. Good luck
Damn I got a problem haha... idk what name to choose for my ship and I cant sail as a captain without naming it right?
The update has been delayed on Xbox. I just logged on to check it out & there's a message saying there's a slight delay & it'll sail into port on the 4th Aug for Xbox players
you can buy worms in this update?! no more digging for earthworms in the grass but digging up grubs instead!!!
If you own a ship can other crewmates still customize the ship's appearance?
So the Progress for the Customizations is for each ship? So if i'm playing with a Friend and we sail on his ship, every Milestoneprogress is only for his ship. So when we play on another Server and it's my ship this time, we have to do everything again, if i want the same thing for my Ship?
Does the emissary bonus works if you sell to the new NPC?
Why would it? 🤷🏻♂️
You only get emissary bonus for selling to THAT faction you’re sailing under, this wouldn’t be any different.
@@zebdawson3687 Because otherwise, this new NPC is in my opinion is completly useless and a waste of time comparing to what we can do already. I was seeing this NPC more like a fast way to sell your stuff, if the gold bonus does not works, how would I prefer to sell to him/her instead of the normal NPC?
@@JulienDrevon that’s how opinions work, they don’t have to be right or accurate in any way, but you’re entitled to them nonetheless. 🤷🏻♂️
Yes, they do. Sovereigns simply act as a middle man between you and the Guilds.
@@zebdawson3687 Little bit of an edgelord there, aren't you? Plus Rare said selling to the sovereigns is identical to selling to the guild in their video, so you aren't even correct.
the sovereigns are going to a real back scratcher after you looted a lot of forts, vaults and other things.
If you take over the burning blade does it “save” across games or do you need to redo the world event every time you want to use it?
Bruh😂
It's a literal world event warship
You can't use it as your day to day ship😂
@@Senan_is_cool24 well I didn’t know that at the time but I figured it out
My only concern is that the gold for that villainous skull bing so low. Hope that’s not the legit pricing with the sovereigns
@@absentisomnis8650 In the sot Trailer they Said that the prices dont Change If you sell it there
might just have been placeholder value for the build of the game, im no expert and i could be totally wrong but everything sold in the trailer was low value so it might just be to hide the real values until the update drops
@@warlic5413 that’s what I thought but who knows maybe they nerf all the items to make gold more valuable. But the logical guess would be a place holder
@@absentisomnis8650 they don’t take reaper loot dude
I gave up on this game. Last time i played i couldn't finish a adventure because people kept camping the last part in EVERY SINGLE SERVER I JOINED.
You will not have to pay a fee or buy another ship. It’s free to respawn your body
Boat
As far as I and others I have seen talking about it know, you only need to buy each ship type once.
You will never lose the ship or have to pay for it again unless you decide to disband the ship, the only difference between respawning a normal ship and captained ship is that the battle scars will still stay
@@ty_tgm the shipwright can fix the battle damage if you wish

1:07 no i do exactly this and it doesnt save but my money is gone. Whats up rare?
I think the sovereigns won't be used much if at all I think they should have made it like a non pvp reaper with its own emissary and reputation
Lol this entire comment makes zero sense 😂
@@zebdawson3687 what I mean is it should be its own faction with its own emmisary for the non pvp reapers because after a week nobody is going to use it
@@Zer0____L “non PvP reaper” makes no sense to me.
They have a huge wharf, harpoons and a moving platform to unload all your loot at once, fast and easy. They give you the same amount of gold and reputation as the other Guilds and Emissary flags work with them too.
absolutley not. Reapers already can be used very effectively for non pvp purposes.
