The cannon rings and ship alignment is an interesting suggestion. I will definitely keep this in mind next time I lob over 10 "warning shots." Thank you for the tutorial!
I take my new player buddies to inactive forts and sail in circles around it while they target the towers. Helps them get an understanding on both judging distant shots as well as cannonball curve while moving. Once they get comfortable with hitting the towers I have them aim for the windows. Great practice.
@jdawg52383 Can you train me please?! 😢 I want that skele curse so bad. My win rate in HG is not very good. My cannon aim is not great. Lol. Solo HG is brutal!!
Oh my god! I did not know how much of a difference this made straight off of the bat! I started actually hitting cannon shots in hourglass! Still got clapped but I am seeing improvements. Thanks!
Good video... I assume. I didn't watch the whole thing because I use the coral cannon, and you banned me from finishing the video. I'll let you know in the future it i get my life figured out. 😂
ive always liked the sea dog cannons, they add a bit of color but are really similar of not maybe the same practically as the sailor cannons, they also are super easy to get excluding the one color variant i forgot the name of, and u can get them to go with most sets because they come in the 3 different colors
Actually, its really helps. Im myself not so much into "classic" canon skin, i all time use the Reapers canon because they have that small detal what help me aim (same as a bounty hunters pistol).
This blew my mind. I always use sailor cannons, they always felt the esiest to aim but i didnt know why. And using the rings to judge the distance is something i never thought about either!
If you want simplicity AND style. Pick the Gold Sailor Cannon. Not only are they drip but also the rings are gold plated making it easier to work with.
Personally, when I show someone how to aim with the cannon, I tell them to ignore the cannon itself and focus on where the center of their screen is (Also helps them with gun aim, harpoon aim etc.) and then focus on the arch of the cannonball. But the rings trick is neat for those who can't get over the fact that the cannons don't actually have proper iron sights.
Wow I feel dumb. I’ve played since beta and never knew about the rings on the cannon. I like to think I’m a pretty solid shot, but this is going to help.
I end up using golden sailor cannons most of the time, gives me the flare I desire but also lets me use the three ring rule to help my aim and my fellow crew mates' aim
Needed this video. I was just sunk with such masterful execution (pun intended) I took not only a bunch of cannonballs, but also a massive hit to my ego.
Great video! I like the way you explained the rings and the tip distances. I've tried SO many different canons and I agree that the default aren't great looking but they are one of the best aim wise.
The best cannons for me have been the Hunter's Call cannons and Lodestar, damn the Lodestar ones are clean and the distance is short af, too bad they are an emporium item or else I'd be telling everyone to just go buy them and never look back
Neat concept. Probably will help brand new players just a tad bit getting used to the canon balls trajectory/drop in game at first, however i feel like people should likely just focus on firing the cannons more than trying to learn a sort of odd shortcut that will act as a crutch based on your theory of if you rely solely on using those rings. At least if it helps ppl get used to the constantly consistent drop then they wont need to use that gimmick anymore and can hopefully then just switch to any cannon they prefer the look of. Sadly i was kinda hoping for a potential cheat code or mechanic, or genuinely just something useful i could use/take advantage of knowing, but alas, i already hit my shots, sometimes ill be out of it and whiff a shot or 2 worst case so i should be above that level of accuracy most times. Time to teach myself how to speed farm content/get tridents fast for gold/leveling fast(er). Hopefully next time i run into players with one i might actually stand a chance too this time. I found out how the mechanics work so now i should do okay considering i was hitting ppl with lvl 3 charges thinking that was the way to use it in pvp 😆 almost got one guy downed in a 1v2. When one starts running away when they both rushed you ready for a fight on land and u were the one initially running its almost like getting one down lol
I never understand people that use anything other than short, ringed, cannons. I never use them for good reason. I just stick with the magpies cannons. Seems to work well, and I can aim well with them. Another thing to take into account is the spin of your ship when circling. If you trail it in a circle, it works out well. If they are on the outside. Then lead it. Works well.
Before seeing this, i struggled to get streaks of 2 in hourglass. But after seeing this, im far faster witu dialing in my shots and can more easily overwhelm the other sloop with cannons before getting close. Got up to a 7 streak, and one round I was able to demast a ship far away with cannonballs.
Mate if you want to practice your aim then go through the entire Pirates of the Caribbean tall tale storyline and do the final tall tale it teaches you how to handle your ship in a fight without much danger of your ship sinking
I typically use the Ashen Dragon cannons (because of the look). However after what happened to me by the bony hands of an emergent skeleton ship (in Safer Seas), I'm switching back to using the basic cannons.
Game is just completely broken in terms of matchmaking when i matchmake for a 1v1 they literally don't miss a single shot ans i cant hit a single shot due to ultra high waves and hard controlling of the cannon.... I lost like 20 games in a row where are all the ppl i faced are ultra try hards
First time i watch u and i have to say, the Infos are at the point, the additing is not too much or less and you nailed youre pasing... and now I will click me through u channel PS. pleas correct my grammar, i'm still learning this language
I'm a good shot on the cannon but when I'm missing shots I can't see where the balls land. I ask my teammate on the wheel to tell me if shots are 'over' or 'short' of the target, so I can adjust my aim. Work out well!
the problem now is using this as an argument for my friend to stop changing the dang cannons on the boat. lol. he insists it doesnt matter (even though he says he sucks at shooting)
I mean all the cannons have roughly the same size, if you’ve already got the ring method down you can just visualise the rings positioning on the cannons your using. Dont sacrifice drip for meta, drip is 50% of the game's point and enjoyment
There's very little sense in using cannon rings for aiming, if you don't have a reference for ranging for each ring. And I doubt there's anyone using them like that.
here's my hack for sot I take the eye of reach and aim down the sights and put a small piece of blu tak on the screen and boom you now have a crosshair I learned this from a friend who does quick sniping in cod
Honestly coming from never using the base cannons and learning how the cannon trajectory works on my own, this is the worst advice for me and I miss more shots than ever when I try to use this method
I tried this, it actually made my aiming worse. I tried aiming with the rings but found myself missing more than I usually do while trying to aim with the rings.
but even tho you may have a feel for different designs the standered or compact cannons are the best kraken sailor and sea dog cannon's are the best you can use even for good players
Doesnt matter after 1k hours i can hit cannons with even MR reaper cannons it just something that u get the sense of after playing for long@@davidfrazier6308
Do people really have that much trouble with cannons that they have to strategically pick which skin they use lmao, never had that bad of an issue personally.
Here's another tip, and I'll only share it here. So if you read it, good job you have an advantage over most people. The two rings in the side of the cannon that holds the cannon in place are actually a good indicator for where you should be aiming while the ship is in motion. If you doing a left side rotation on a sloop, you wanna line up the iron ring on the right side of the cannon to the enemy ship. If you're full sail, aim at the bowsprit, and if you're half sail, aim at cannon line. And there you go. Put these two together and you're basically using cannon aim bot lol expect a lot of messages from people on xbox now 😂😂😂
Cosmestics mean nothing if they dont do more damage in a game my opinion it could look like shit but if it does more famage or the same as your fancy one then why waste money now if the fancy one does 6 times the damage damn right id go for it

Its hilarious to me that you described height over bore, which is a real thing you have to worry about in CQB with firearms, for SOT cannons.
So to sum up the ring method: “If they’re far out, aim farther out”.
Why didn’t I think of that.

I can recommend the ghost cannon. The length of the cannon acctually makes it easier to long shoot and aim down the target.
