Dang, brother. I came into this expecting some real generic, not overly helpful tips, but you nailed about every aspect of solo naval combat in my experience. Sure, people could learn all this on their own by just running battles all the time, learning from mistakes and whatnot, but if someone isn’t sure about what takes priority or what constitutes a winning vs. losing position and how to get there, then this video is HUGE. A lot of this stuff is admittedly easier said than done, but the solo life on the seas itself is easier said than done, that’s what makes solo so hard. My biggest tip for folks is to not get too discouraged, keep trudging through and you’ll get there. Great video though, man!
Thanks! I appreciate the compliment! And honestly all of this comes with applying it through practice definitely. It's crazy how much micro managing needs to be done as a solo. There's not a single second of down time.

bonus tip for death spin: you want to roughly match the turn % with the sails %, facing sails forward at all times. the higher the %, generally means bigger circle. with sails at 50% is and wheel turned is fairly big circle but fine. i personally sit around 25%-30%. this isnt exact maths but it will get you started then all you need to do is micro adjust the steering to suit. happy hunting

@@Chor-SeaOfThieves Just wondering mate your thoughts on Solo Brigantine? Its faster and has a slower turn radius but do you reakon there would be a way to be somewhat competent in pvp against a sloop but still have the brig’s speed to catch ships? Or is the solo brig just an impossible dream when it comes to pvp?
@chrisclark6705 solo brig takes too much sail management/wheel management for 1 person to maintain mid fight. Better off on a sloop. At the end of the day any boat that wants to run can run with optimal sail management and will waste your time.

Yeah, "Hourglass" can get toxic, especially if you get matched with players above your current skill level. If this happens, take a small break, partially to hopefully queue with a crew more your speed, but mostly to center yourself. See if you can learn something from this and how to use it to your benefit. It's a game; you will sink, and that's OK. This is definitely a practice-makes-perfect type of game.

First off, fantastic video. Your vids are some of the best SoT content on the internet, really amazing. Secondly, I’ve got a question for you. If you and your opponent are both moving parallel to each other in the same direction, is it a viable strategy to stop cannons for a second to go drop the sails, and try to hook in front of them? Also, should that situation be played differently on a duo sloop?
Most of the time they will just match your sail drop. So best thing to do is out cannon them. Aim for a kill then go for a demast. As well you can try to blunderbomb them to nose you. If you want to know how to use blunderbombs to steer the enemy boat essentially, I have a video talking about blunderbombs in depth that you should check out.
It completely depends on how far you are from the enemy boat but at a mid range usually it's around 1/2 sails 3/4 wheel turn. But you always gotta really find the sweet spot because of different ranges. I'd recommend as you do fights and get death spins going try to think in your mind how far you are and how you had to adjust sails and wheel to get a good spin. Doing this will help you better learn how to gauge it for future fights!
Just started playing Sea of Thieves. Always wanted to play it, never had the ability until now. There’s SOOOOO much in this game that I’m overwhelmed, but I love the wonder and experiencing things I haven’t before. I’m playing in Safe Waters and I had just finished my first non-tutorial mission Hoarders mission, and decided to head to an outpost. I accidentally passed some fort or something, and next thing I know my boat has holes and I’m getting chased by a skelly boat. The mf chased me the whole way, as I desperately bailed and repaired, until I crashed into a random little dock in the middle of the ocean. The mf circled the dock, launching cannons that disabled mine as it closed in. SOMEHOW I managed to not sink and ply them with enough holes that they eventually sunk. It was exhilarating yet terrifying, and I had no idea how I was supposed to kill them, I felt so overwhelmed trying to manage everything. This is long winded, but this video is awesome. I’m listening to a man who not only knows this shit, but has applied it enough to explain simply and succinctly. Thank you brother!

Yayyyyyy thank you so much 😊
Of course 😀👍🏼
Oohhhh now i think i know why my compass was spinning like crazy and my wheel not stopping . Didnt know you could repair it
That happens in a storm. Has nothing to do with broken wheel.
always use sword and flintlock no matter what because youre a pirate
Nah 😉
Great info.
😉👍🏻
Great vid
Thanks :)
Just wanna thank you I don’t have time to play with my duo as much now so ima have to play solo a bit more
You're welcome! 😊
Fun tip instead of sailing them out you can sail the to a fort and make em go boom
You definitely can if there is a fort nearby
damn i thought this channel had millions of subs.
@@ali-alneyadi would be nice lol
Good to know in late 2024 3:16 about the blunderbus
New pirate here. I wondered why we always fight off the left, my guild leader needs to tell me this ish lmao
less places for holes on the left. There are 7 potential holes on the left vs 8 on the right
Excellent 👌
👍🏼👍🏼
Hey ! awesome video !
Do you have any tip on the sail/wheel position for the death spin maneuver on a stopped ship ?
