To be honest, I did have a really hard time fighting this Sigma my first time playing Megaman X3 some years ago. But Phil's problem isn't being bad at the game. It's that he can't learn from his mistakes because he never sees his deaths and failures as a product of his performance. It's always the game's fault. Of course he'll never change tactics or play style when he makes excuses for why they aren't the problem. A decent player LEARNS, even if it takes 10+ attempts, they try something different each time. Phil is just an idiot, banging his head against a wall time and time again until something breaks. It's that terrible mentality that makes him shit at every game he plays, and every game he ever will play.

Kaiser Sigma is without a doubt probably one of the hardest Sigma fights, but Phil's problem is that he keeps just trying to tank through it despite it not working for him.
So, in one corner, you have someone who has only the base health and starting weapon but still manages to beat both forms of the final boss without being hit.... ... and in the other, you have a guy with max health, all the upgrades, a shield that reduces damage taken by 75% every time he's hit, the ability to dash twice in the air, the ability to spam charged shots and the ability to regenerate both his health *and* his instant-heal S. I don't know what's more hilariously bad, that he rage quit at Kaiser Sigma, that he keeps trying to hit him when he's too close to jump away from the wall, that he forgot how to dash, that he thinks tanking bosses is smart and the "only way to win", that he doesn't adjust his shots, that he keeps all his failures in, that he blames the game for his own failure, or that he insists on using a weapon that he thinks is crap because he thinks it's Sigma's weakness. Seriously, it's a cornucopia of catastrophe watching Phil play one of my favorite franchises.

"This is the worst programmed thing ever." No, it was designed as a challenging final boss. A final boss is supposed to test all the skill and technique you have learned throughout the entire game, and since I'm sure Phil did nothing but read the guide to learn the weaknesses to all the mavericks, and sub-tanked his way through every difficult part, he learned jack shit when it comes to jumping, dashing, dodging, jumping, and shooting. This is probably the worst display of gameplay in a Megaman game I have ever seen. And I wont lie, it took me quite a few tries to beat Kaiser Sigma, but I wasn't thinking to myself "man these developers suck," I was thinking "man, I need to get my dodge timing down."

To DSP, the "Good Idea" segment would be someone who "conducted hours of research" into the game. That'd be especially ironic considering all the statements he makes while failing horribly (Bad Idea).
It takes a really special kind of individual to fight a boss and convince himself that he has to actively be INSIDE the boss to be able to do damage to him.
This video is a perfect example of the gap in skill levels between players who learn, and players who don't. Phil had everything on his side: Weapons, upgrades, energy tanks, and even a strategy guide. Yet, because he could not learn from his mistakes to rise to the challenge, he just rages and gives up. All the while, the boss is able to be beaten by learning patterns, and playing the game correctly, without need of any crutches. It's truly remarkable how he even gets as far as he does.
To be fair, though, about the "Good Idea" part: The guy doing that is absurdly good, and not having the upgraded buster is actually a *good* thing in this fight... And really, a lot of fights, it not most of the game. This is the only X game where the upgraded buster is such garbage that the basic one is actually better. Otherwise, though, pretty much everyone *eventually* figures out that you just hang out on the wall and use level 2 shots and call it a day. You don't even have to dodge that much, just shoot and eat subtanks. I'm legitimately stunned he didn't figure that out, but then again I think he still hadn't learned to map dash to the R button by this point, ssssoooo...

He thinks by end game he should just be OP and be able to steam roll through final bosses by brute force (which in most games today, sadly, you can). It's nice to come back to a classic fail every now and again. The point of the "Good Idea" segment is to show that a no-damage clear on the boss is possible. DSP runs into the boss 24/7 and face-tanks all the projectiles. That doesn't work. Even with max health, armor upgrades, and four sub tanks. He honestly thinks he's supposed to be touching the boss's hitbox, damaging his himself, in order to damage the face. That's never been the case in Mega Man. The game is not designed or balanced for you to take damage every single second and STILL win. Old school action games in general aren't designed like that. The final boss has more health than you for a reason. DSP could have beaten Kaiser easily had he just gone to the right side of the screen when Kaiser was on the left, and used the walls to gain height to shoot the head. The solution was just that simple.

This video was funny the first time I watched it years ago, but now that I've actually played and beaten mega man x3 myself it's even better lol. This boss is a little tricky but it wasn't that bad. Ironically I had more trouble with Kaiser Sigma when I replayed the game and tried to beat him with the z-saber than when I just used the buster.
Hm....even with his horrible skillz here, all he had to do was use the entire field. He isolated himself to the left side of the boss, then closed his mind off like there was no other way. Anytime Kaiser went airborne, a simple dash underneath, would have given him a chance to dodge the missles he constantly ate, giving him more time, and more clear shots to beat this guy. Look how close he came, after makin it as difficult as possible.....he gave up too easily...
To be fair,it IS one of the hardest fights in the series,but if you just stand in a corner like an idiot while making no effort whatsoever to dodge incoming attacks,even an opening stage boss would be this hard.

Common Sense would tell me that even if I haven't played this particular Megaman game to at least study the enemy patterns. MegamanZX punishes for trying to rush through the game like this lol. I know Model O was hard but the patterns are easy to read if you are willing to put in the effort. I think Kaizer Sigma is an interesting Final Boss. You know a "DSP Experiences" video is going to be a drinker when there's well over a half hour between "Bad Idea" and the ending of the video. He is at least right about the boss being a joke - this fight was insultingly easy when I first did it. It was less a fight and more "Basic Pattern Recognition 101". The giant chimera fusion boss a ways back was more of a challenge. Did it never occur to him to just stay on the side with more dodging room instead of taking missiles and mines to the face and claiming hacks and cheating? Please tell me he didn't try to do any other Mega Man games...

So as a kid, I struggled with this final boss and could never beat him. When I recently fought him on Legacy Collection, Sigma still bodied me in a buster only attempt (even with Gold set), but on second run using his weakness, I only needed one or two E-tanks. My main problem was I attempted to emulate Good Idea, but clearly I did not pay enough attention. Perhaps if I had some patients in the first phase, or at least did more attempts to recognize the pattern, I may have been able to beat him buster only, maybe one or two E-tanks. Granted, in my buster only attempt, I avoided using E-tanks When I went straight to using his weakness, I'd jump to the opposite wall, double dash to the other wall, and hug it as I fire the twin blades. Might have to practice more on a low power run, but I do feel better knowing the fight did not take me 90 minutes with the same conditions as DSP.
I've never played a Megaman game, and I'll admit, I believe I could die a few times to this boss, maybe 1-3 times, but I know one thing, I'd at least be able to consider, "Gee, maybe I should try fucking walking under him when he flies over so I have room to evade missiles and that ball thing." DSP has no concept of defense.
His "I'm just going to tank Sigma" strategy MIGHT have actually worked if he had all 4 subtanks (He did manage to deplete Sigma's life bar once after all). The problem really is that he has no idea how to fight Sigma's first form. I mean, I'll admit I was on the verge of looking at a strategy guide on how to dodge his pattern the first time I played the game, but you know what? I eventually learned the pattern and now I never get hit during that fight. Phil isn't even bothering to try to learn that pattern, though. He's just relying on his subtank reserve to tank that fight too.

This video was funny the first time I watched it years ago, but now that I've actually played and beaten mega man x3 myself it's even better lol. This boss is a little tricky but it wasn't that bad. Ironically I had more trouble with Kaiser Sigma when I replayed the game and tried to beat him with the z-saber than when I just used the buster.
Hm....even with his horrible skillz here, all he had to do was use the entire field. He isolated himself to the left side of the boss, then closed his mind off like there was no other way. Anytime Kaiser went airborne, a simple dash underneath, would have given him a chance to dodge the missles he constantly ate, giving him more time, and more clear shots to beat this guy. Look how close he came, after makin it as difficult as possible.....he gave up too easily...
Its sad how many people have to baby talk, like they were talking to a child, to a grown man, and at that, keep doing so.
To be fair,it IS one of the hardest fights in the series,but if you just stand in a corner like an idiot while making no effort whatsoever to dodge incoming attacks,even an opening stage boss would be this hard.

Oh i know, i will use the boss's weaknesses rather than not learning the pattern to beat the boss in the first place.
So he allows himself to get cornered and is then surprised when his ability to evade is limited all of a sudden. Okay then.
Unless it's Bob the Goldfish from Earthworm Jim 2, that's NEVER the answer.
I'm pleasantly surprised; I didn't expect to see the second form until about the 10-15 minute mark...

And it turns out he didn't beat him at all.
Common Sense would tell me that even if I haven't played this particular Megaman game to at least study the enemy patterns. MegamanZX punishes for trying to rush through the game like this lol. I know Model O was hard but the patterns are easy to read if you are willing to put in the effort. I think Kaizer Sigma is an interesting Final Boss. I don't have the game, but I do like watching other SKILLED players play unlike our very own "BacksidePhil"

You know a "DSP Experiences" video is going to be a drinker when there's well over a half hour between "Bad Idea" and the ending of the video.
He is at least right about the boss being a joke - this fight was insultingly easy when I first did it. It was less a fight and more "Basic Pattern Recognition 101". The giant chimera fusion boss a ways back was more of a challenge.
Did it never occur to him to just stay on the side with more dodging room instead of taking missiles and mines to the face and claiming hacks and cheating? Please tell me he didn't try to do any other Mega Man games...
He doesnt even try to dodge the projectiles or understand basic repeating patterns... its aggravating.

My brain hurts watching this.
So as a kid, I struggled with this final boss and could never beat him. When I recently fought him on Legacy Collection, Sigma still bodied me in a buster only attempt (even with Gold set), but on second run using his weakness, I only needed one or two E-tanks. My main problem was I attempted to emulate Good Idea, but clearly I did not pay enough attention. Perhaps if I had some patients in the first phase, or at least did more attempts to recognize the pattern, I may have been able to beat him buster only, maybe one or two E-tanks. Granted, in my buster only attempt, I avoided using E-tanks When I went straight to using his weakness, I'd jump to the opposite wall, double dash to the other wall, and hug it as I fire the twin blades. Might have to practice more on a low power run, but I do feel better knowing the fight did not take me 90 minutes with the same conditions as DSP.
If X was as terrible as DSP here, Sigma would have longed taken over the world by now.

DSP has no concept of defense.
oh my god... and I thought I have seen other people be horrible at it... but watching this guy takes bad lp's to a whole new level...
His "I'm just going to tank Sigma" strategy MIGHT have actually worked if he had all 4 subtanks (He did manage to deplete Sigma's life bar once after all). The problem really is that he has no idea how to fight Sigma's first form. I mean, I'll admit I was on the verge of looking at a strategy guide on how to dodge his pattern the first time I played the game, but you know what? I eventually learned the pattern and now I never get hit during that fight. Phil isn't even bothering to try to learn that pattern, though. He's just relying on his subtank reserve to tank that fight too.

Halfway through the video I had to rewatch the "good idea". It's kinda like therapy after watching his lack of motor skills.
It's like Phil doesn't realize that those walls can be used to dodge his attacks. It's like he's playing Mega Man for the first time in his life.
When he plays games he tries to apply things like physics and other real life things, into a video game.
And he struggled this long and the easy part of the fight. "Impossibly hard." Has he ever played Mega Man before? Seriously my cousins and I were beating this game when we were like 8.

You know how you ruin an ending to a game? you make a 30+ part series and have the ppl that watch it have to waste their time watching you fail at utilize the game mechanics
