I like how Phil died instantly from the lava when jumping down into the boss fight on the first try, but was still somehow shocked when it instantly killed him when he fell in during the fight.

Proof that Phil forgets things a lot.
Phil burned himself on the stove top as a child after his parents warned him of the dangers of 'hot'. He insisted that it was the stove's manufacturers that were evil and were, in fact, trying to kill him. From that point on, Phil swore to only cook foods within the sacred rotational haven known as THE MICROWAVE.
Knowing him he probably asked what he was supposed to do when he touched it 😂😂😂
Phil did teach me something, i had no idea that the lava killed me in one hit, when i was ten i beat the boss without being hit so i didnt know for certain. Thanks phil, through your non existent skill youve taught me something

There are tons of instant deaths in platformers you fall and die thats that. Failing on one of the easiest bosses in platformer history for shame. I would love to see him face Tiny in Crash 2.
ManowarHeigou I don't know man. I think the Dark Eco plant is an easier boss than this. DSP never faced that one I don't think.

God forbid a developer make an easy-looking boss fight a little tough with instant death so it gives some semblance of challenge.
Lava is something that you should never touch even IRL. I bet Phil would think that lava IRL would only wound you.

Convection by itself will make lava roast you just by being close to it.

The instant death from lava shouldn't be a surprise to him. I mean when the boss fight first started the first thing he did was jump toward the platform and land in the lava so how like about a minute later he hits the lava and dies he is surprised and upset. I call bullshit when he first died he said crispy Jak as if acknowledging he died but either his brain farted or he has chronic short term memory loss.
Lava being instant death is generous. In reality, standing over a lake of lava that large should start killing you before you even fall in.

I'll admit, I did require a few tries to defeat this boss, but at least I laughed at my failures rather than complained.
Super Mario 64 doesn't kill you when you touch lava. That doesn't change the fact that Phil shouldn't be falling into it.
This boss fight reminds me of the Koala fight in Crash Bandicoot lol. I like how he complains though lava is instant death...even though seconds before he started the fight he fell in lava and died

It's because these games, which are made for little children, can have bugged mechanics and kids don't know any better. DSP is much more experienced and has a highly refined taste for quality.

Literally sounded like a 5 year-old. Stop whining Phil and learn how to platform. Playable characters in games only move how you control them to move. If you're jumping into boulders that push you back into lava, then your character is gonna get some of that INSTA DEATH!

Anyone else notice that when Phil "instantly dies" the first time touching the lava but thinks nothing of it, then proceeds to go on a tirade the second time as if he didn't know that it killed him? DSP's experiencing a bugged awareness mechanic.
I literally said to myself during the good idea part, "huh, that looks like a simple fight".
Yeah, I know, right? Jak And Daxter isn't really that hard. Jak 2 and 3 however, WILL kick your ass if you're unprepared or if you're dspigroach. It certainly did kick my ass. Like the race sections in Jak 2, and nearly everything in Jak 3. I did suck at all 3 games, but I wasn't as bad as phil. Also, how stupid is Phil to believe that lava DOESN'T kill you instantly? Why is he shocked by dying by falling in lava? Does he think lava shouldn't be an instant death? Does he think lava's like water? And he should be able to fucking bathe in it or something?
The very first thing he did was fuck up the jump and instantly die at the lava.Then proceeds to get extremely surprised when the lava kills instantly kills him again
So I saw him complete one rotation of this “puzzle boss gauntlet” and thought “a little sloppy but he gets the idea.”

Every time I see one of these DSP-is-a-fuckup videos, I look at the timer and say "No way it actually takes him that long".
And every time, I am wrong.
I get why he was surprised at the instant death at first from the lava as a lot of games kinda have a thing where you can be in it a few seconds before dying.
However, he is an annoying shit that shouldn't have kept bitching. Realize "Oh shit, lava is isn't death." and move the fuck on with the game.
And it makes me really uncomfortable when he talks about people licking his ass.

I've seen 5 year olds understand Lava = Death, Lava = Do not touch, Lava = Restart. I'd say he has the mental capabilities of a 5 year old but that's insulting to the five years all over the world.
If DSP thinks lava being instant death is stupid/doesn't make sense, then maybe he should fall into some lava in real life and see how that works out.
I make a *lot* of idiotic mistakes in my LP videos but they're usually because I'm talking too much or haven't taken my ADD meds that day and didn't notice something obvious. When I die/fail for those reasons, however, I'm self-aware enough to just laugh at myself and keep on playing. Good god, man.
I like to play a game during the Good Idea where I guess where DSP will mess up. I'm always surprised that he manages to screw up in ways that are completely inconceivable.

There is one game I know of that doesn't kill you instantly for touching lava: Ninja Gaiden 2/Sigma 2. Ryu Hayabusa can swim in lava. That's badass.
Metroid Prime as well does not instant kill you in lava. I've know I've played a few other games without instant deaths in lava, I can't remember them though.

Watching DSP has been really enlightening for me. Every time I even think about blaming my failures on game bugs or "calling bullshit", I remember the fucktard DSP and strive to improve myself in games instead of blaming it.

another thing, someone tell me why this mouth breather keeps leaping to shoot at Klaww? because everytime he runs out of yellow eco he keeps slamming to the ground and missing his opportunity to damage Klaww
I remember dying on that boss fight a lot too, though since i actually liked that fight, i didnt mind having to do it repeatedly.
I just think its funny that almost 16 minutes in he didn't realize that the fireballs are not actually doing any damage to Klaww, it is clearly the boulder that falls on his head.
I think he knows this, which is why he keeps avoiding it. I mean hell, not once has he put it for voting as one of his "filler games" despite a large number of people wanting it.
Nothing to his Dark Souls and MGS1 runs. "Falling does damage?! The fuck?!"
Yes. Generally falling from that height will do damage. Hell, in many games it'll kill you. In real life it'll break both your legs.

The "it's lava, of course it's instant death" is a poor argument. There are plenty of games where lava doesn't one shot you, and even games where you can swim in it taking little or no damage at all.
Still, he should be more careful around it.
Name a few games that won't kill you instantly if you are submerged in lava entirely.
Now, name 5 that are Jump'n'Run/Adventure games.

Anduhans I'm fairly certain none of the Sly games insta-kill you if you fall in lava, the first three Spyro ones don't either for sure, Ys Origin doesn't and you can swim in it if you're not taking too much damage, there's an item in Ys Oath in Felghana where you can walk in shallow lava, I don't remember the lava in the final battle of Bayonetta killing you instantly but the lava in the level where you're outrunning a wave of it probably does, Minecraft's lava doesn't insta-kill you and you can even take no damage from it, and same with Terraria.
Of course, in some of these, you don't get entirely submerged, but the argument was that just because it's lava, it's going to to kill you immediately.
Also, Morrowind and Oblivion. Hell, I remember saying "Fuck it" and swimming across some lava to get somewhere in the Deadlands of Oblivion once. And I made it.

Sure, but it was made in a certain context. It was a comment in a LP of a certain plattformer not a sentence written randomly regarding games in general. Personally I think that does make a big difference.
Ask yourself: if you play a plattformer with deep lava (because the boss that was huge and could go under it made it obvious it's deep) would you think you can actually swim in it or it rather kills you? Would you be suprised by it?
Personally it would be the opposite in my case in almost any game.
As for the games you mentioned I was really curious about what games let you do that because the only plattformer I could think of was Super Mario 64 and not because I wanted to argue about them. However besides Spyro and Sly I wouldn't put those in the same genre as Jak and Dexter (also if I am not mistaken you cannot even swim in water in Sly?).
The other ones I haven't played however I am not that surprised because other than plattformers there are games that let you *walk* in lava (swim not so many, though).
In the end I'm not trying to say you are wrong but I still think that the comment on a plattformer makes a lot of sense and being amazed that you die when you fall in lava seems really... well, "no-common-sense"ish.

And no, I don't expect to swim through it. If I were to fight this boss with no prior knowledge of how it works, if I fell into the lava, I'd fight it again knowing that the lava is instant death. Then again, I've not played this game so I don't know if the lava is always instant death. Still, I'd stay away from it and learn that it is instant death when I fall in.
I suppose the argument could be made that he's been playing other games where lava isn't an instant kill though and expected this game to follow suit. But then, it's DSP. He's complained about being one-shotted when he has low health, so.
VideoAggression Well, there's Metroid. Where you can be submerged in Magma and Acid without the hero taking damage, or dying instantly when you touch it.
This really makes me wish he'd played Jak 2, I would LOVE to see him do the mission for Bruttor where Jak gets the Mar symbol from the hut!
I want him to play Jak 2 just so I can watch him fail at the racing missions. Oh that would be so great.
yeah i hated those. some missions were difficult but those just made me quit the game a few times

The only game I can think of where Lava didn't instantly kill the player was Super Mario 64.... but even then it took a great amount of damage.

No shit, lava instantly kills. One of the easiest to learn facts about volcanoes. Did he ever learn science? Even in game logic, lava instantly killing you has been there for a long ass time. The only games where it doesn't instantly kill you is Zelda or it's clones like Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.
Its funny hoe he pointed out that the boss character repeats the patterns it has, little dies he know its how any enemy in a game works. They all use predetermined patterns and methods. Its not like in a fighting game against another person, where they can pick and choose attacks and combos (however those are also technically patterns)
Agreed, that game is ridiculously difficult compared to this game. If DSP can't even handle instantly dying to lava, there's no way he could handle the entirety of Jak 2.

*One of the best overall gamers in the country* struggles to beat a game that me and a friend of mine had no problems beating when we were 11 when it first came out.
I even sent the worm a challenge to a match in MKX and of course he didn't respond.

oh and this boss is like how most of the crash bandicoot boss hell all naughty dog plat former bosses are it has a very predictable pattern that is easy to see and you should not be dying so much after the first time.
