- We sailed on Island Princess for 16 nights visiting ports in the UK, Ireland, Iceland and Greenland. Island Princess is part of Princess Cruises' fleet and was launched in 2003. It belongs to the Coral-class of ships and has been a popular choice for travellers seeking a cruise experience with a balance of comfort and luxury. Princess Cruises, in general, is known for offering a range of amenities and services to make passengers' experiences enjoyable. The ship offers various entertainment options, including live performances, musicals, and themed events. Island Princess provides a variety of cabins and suites to cater to different preferences and budgets.
We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.
Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.

This is the first time I have watched one of your videos and I loved it! Lots of good information and lovely pictures/vids. Also appreciated the positive perspective of the Island Princess as I will be on her for the first time in July (New York to Southampton [Greenland/Iceland, etc.]) and other reviews are quite negative about the Island Princess. We were on the very same cruise and felt the same about Island Princess, a lovely old girl. We’ve watched all the videos of the trip as it’s been like reliving it all over. And fun to see if we could spot ourselves anywhere.
Trying Sky Princess next but I think we might miss the smaller ship ambience.

I was on 2 B2B cruises on the Island Princess in Sept/Oct, & I loved the ship! I spent many happy hours sitting on a bar stool at Crooners Bar! I will be on the Sky Princess on April 27.

Thanks for review. The ship looks nice. I love it but one thing I don't like is promanade deck where suites and balconys are. So guests can't walk around the ship. I would like to go on other ships. I like conservatory. It is good for Alaska or New England/ Canada cruise.

@@TomandDomTravel ah yes I have met him twice...on Regal first then on Island...we had a wonderful cruise on both occasions...our entertainment team were Andi, kimmi, rose and mark...it looks like you might have had Jacinta who we met on our 2nd Regal cruise. I'm lucky enough to have 3 Sky and 1 Carribbean Princess booked so am hoping for the same great experience

Thanks. I've never sailed on Princess; your review does a great job of summarizing the experience. And it offers enough examples of the service and venues that the viewer can form his or her own opinion as well.
Far be it from this American to suggest how to pronounce an English word, but here in the States "bayou" is pronounced "bye-ewe", not "bay-oh". If the Princess restaurant was inspired by Louisiana, then here is a link to a song, "Born on the Bayou" with the traditional American pronunciation.

BTW, is there pickleball on the Island Princess? We'll be on board for the World Cruise from LA for 116 days next year, and can't go without pickleball for that long! 🙂
@sedonars1 will give that a listen. There is one multi use sports court nothing specific to Pickleball unfortunately
With those premium desserts, is it just the sundaes that are the available premium desserts or are there other types of premium dessert available in other venues? I'm sure I've seen someone mention there are premium cakes and things available in some of the other restaurants but I can't find anything official from Princess other than the sundae menu. I'm going to have to cross them all off my to-do list :)
You can only get Icecream from Swirls but you can get premium cakes in the Main Dining Room. We have some examples on our vlogs. 🍰
