Our SEA DAY of SURPRISES and RETRO food on P&O Aurora - DAY 4 VLOG

- On day 4 we sailed form the port of Hamburg, Germany towards Zeebrugge, Belgium on our Northern Europe P&O Aurora cruise. After our New Years Eve celebrations we started the morning late and made our way to breakfast in the Horizon Restaurant. The weather was getting progressively worse throughout the day and we received some disappointing news regarding our next port. We spent the day exploring the ship in detail. We dined for lunch and our evening meal in the Medina Restaurant, this is the freedom dining venue onboard P&O Aurora. During our evening meal Dom had flashbacks to his school dinner days. We were treated to a matinee performance in the Curzon Theatre from Laura Megann. In the evening were surprised by the choice of show. We spent the evening in Andersons, until it closed, and carried on our festivities in Masquerades with some great company.

We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.
Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.

@@TomandDomTravel Yes, I've been binge watching, same here, love the ship but they don't seem too customer friendly , I haven't sailed with P&O yet and maybe I won't, food doesn't seem that brilliant with choices either. I'll see how my Ambassador cruise goes. I like British style no fly cruising and love Saga and Fred but a bit costly so need an alternative. Thanks for great videos!
@pipfield1901 we found Ambassador deliver what they promised. Yes the ships aren’t new but they are good value and the welcome was warm
On ventura last year my bread and butter pudding had meringue on top. Iv never known this before and on my way out I told them " tell the chef that meringue has no place on bread and butter pudding ". One of my favourite desserts spoilt .😪

Great video - I’m sailing with Ken and his wife on QA next week; they look fun! I CANT get over this “butter scrape” service - it’s truly REVOLTING!!! Is this now the norm with P&O Do you think?

Hmmm I think you are both too kind. There appears to be too much poor management on that ship to be positive , it presents like a Butilins on sea

The main dining rooms can make or break your cruise , because you will normally meet someone you dont like or they dont like you . And to be honest the meals are like school dinners and you have to ask for second helpings . If i could i would just go in for three lots of ice cream and get out of the place .

Yes it can vary it’s often filmed the following day. Unless you watch the last day where we film on the day including after a few wines 😬
Yikes! Woken up by noise below after 3 hours sleep. No place to eat your breakfast for which you had no appetite anyway except for a deserted and frigid pool deck. Chased around the upper deck by crew madly trying to shut the place down. Confined to a hospital waiting room till a table (bed?) opens up for lunch. Then you're served seaweed, and desserts of unknown gelatinous substances and tasteless gunk. Brushed off--again--by Customer Service. To top off the day, the DJ doesn't show for the evening entertainment. Glad the shows, window seat, and meet up with friends at the end were all good. But this day needs a do-over.

This looks like it`s been a poor experience on Aurora. We really liked her on a short cruise to Amsterdam, but that was a few years ago. What are your views on P&O generally @Tom&Dom ?
Thanks for watching. We have generally enjoyed our cruises with P&O. For the price they are charging we do think they are great value. We have done an Iona cruise recently. A much better experience

We have been on the Aurora 3 times and all been good can’t fault her
@@tombrown8281 What they dont show you on these videos is the blocked toilets , no running hot water , a smell running threw the ship , water coming threw the ceilings with buckets laid out to catch the water , and not forgetting the rust around the ship . Swimming pools freezing so you cant get in them and the whirl pool not working .
I’ve heard that this new year cruise was a S…show. Everyone raves about the Aurora too. Not for me especially seeing those chairs outside the restaurant. I would prefer the Azura I think

It wasn’t for me. I was on this cruise and I had a lovely time.
It wasn’t a s show, far from it.
You dont want to get up for breakfast anymore its dreadful with people walking about with cold food on there plates also looking for somewhere to sit . People eating in the special restaurants were you have to pay , when youve already payed for food when you booked the cruise .
That is a real shame. Breakfast was always very busy. There certainly should be enough capacity
