- Our adventure begins as we embark on Island Princess to visit a number of ports in the UK, Ireland, Iceland and Greenland. In this video we cover the tips and tricks that we use during embarkation day on a Princess cruise. We embarked Island Princess from Mayflower terminal in Southampton and we were amazed at the embarkation process. We spent the time before our cabin was ready exploring the ship, we visited The Sanctuary, Spa and the children and kids clubs onboard. The Princess sail away did not disappoint and luckily the weather was on our side. We had our first evening meal in the Bordeaux restaurant and enjoyed some of the entertainment onboard including a great theatre show from Jay MCGee.

Island Princess is part of Princess Cruises' fleet and was launched in 2003. It belongs to the Coral-class of ships and has been a popular choice for travellers seeking a cruise experience with a balance of comfort and luxury. Princess Cruises, in general, is known for offering a range of amenities and services to make passengers' experiences enjoyable. The ship offers various entertainment options, including live performances, musicals, and themed events. Island Princess provides a variety of cabins and suites to cater to different preferences and budgets.
We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.
Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.

Great video, the rumors are that Princess plans to sell or scrap the Island Princess after the next world cruise. Please find out if this is true, if so it will be sad as I love the smaller ships.

Great video! I will be taking the Star Princess from Southhampton to Ft Lauderdale and then the Island Princess from Ft Lauderdale to San Francisco. Was thinking of also staying close by the port at the Holiday Inn as you suggested. But is there any nightlife in that area at all?

Great Vlog , did you find Island dated ? We love Princess but haven’t cruised on Island .
We absolutely found her to have a more classic cruise feel compared to the Royal Class but for us that only added to the charm.
Sad about the love boat dream makeover, it definitely doesn’t look as good as it used to 😢

We always like to use the casino bar when the ship gets busy and as you say staff are always really good but when we went on Sky Princess last year we were gutted when we went to the casino as the bar had been removed and we had used it every night when we had been on Sky in 2022 it is still a mystery why they removed it as I have never been on a princess ship that does not have a bar in the casino.
We were back on Sky a few months ago but didn’t spot that.
I have an apology to make to you. I had lost my glasses before watching . I couldn’t cope with the “blurred “ screen , so paused you and went in search. I finally found them on the sofa next to me 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway, I got comfy again and pressed play, then realised that I had somehow hit the dislike button (eeek!!) we've had 12 Princess cruises on 7 different ships, and we find the service is not good for the new premium prices post covid era. The entertainment is not as professional or complete as pre pandemic. when there were scenery and costumes changes. There are also extra costs to the main dining. We have transferred our cruises to Celebrity.
