    I’m not a doctor myself but yes you can walk on a torn ACL. Tore mine in a non contact play play few years ago. Walked right off the field . 110% he tore his acl.

      @@m4yd0g I tore mine similar to this play. When I planted my right leg , my leg was too far out when I tried to cut and just fell on my own. Hurt right when I tore it but after that it felt like just another injury …. The hardest part for me was 2 weeks right after surgery . Very painful. I got cleared within 5 1/2 months.

    I can tell I’ve really been learning a lot from these videos, because I was able to watch the replay once and see all of these mechanisms, and had a good understanding of what the likely injury was before this video was posted! @@matthill2957 that was completely uncalled for man, just cause someone is grabbing their knee doesn’t mean that it could only be an ACL. They way his knee fell in could have also been an MCL, the sever extension of the joint could damage the meniscus, or snap the patellar tendon too.

    Can you discuss what athletes (pro, college, and rec) can learn from this in terms of avoidance? The amazing athleticism and skill put him in a position to continue the play while moving with extreme momentum downfield. His awesome athleticism and keen skills allowed him to decide to try to slow down and cut back to the right to avoid the defender. But it was this decision combined with the massive energy and the angles he had to plant with that exceeded the maximum tension of his joint. Do you find that athletes need some guidance on how to avoid these type of injuries? As an aging athlete and referee, I know there are situations where my brain wants my body to do risky moves. My awareness of this enables me to attenuate the stopping or acceleration or turning rates to de-risk the maneuvers. Seahawk Tyler Lockett seems to navigate the field more carefully but no less skillfully or quickly since his injury a few years ago. His injury was contact induced, but it seems like when he is in fraught situations he ensures he secures the catch and falls in ways that reduce injury potential. Should young athletes be trained in injury avoidance?

    • @too8060
      @too8060 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      better shoes would prevent injury. I would evaluate shoes on different turfs. less cuts on artificial turf.

    • @V.VIIIBeanman
      @V.VIIIBeanman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This comment needs more visibility. I believe it is imperative that they be trained in injury avoidance. I believe artificial turf has a hand in this as well. I found an article saying that artificial turf seems to cause injuries more and this encompasses ALL sports that use it such as Soccer as well. Grass is ONLY worse in the condition in that it's not maintained properly. I think there should be some pushback against artificial turf and athletes need to be trained differently to avoid these injuries.

    Really enjoy this vids and explanation, Brian! It's understood that misfortune will happen to athletes, but I wanted to ask you your opinion as to what you think they can do to strengthen knee joints, elbow joints and the ligaments within these areas to withstand taking on extreme pressure when making these cuts/shifts in movements? Is it just inevitable these injuries will happen, which lead to surgery and recovery? You mentioned a hope that Jameson is really "flexible", but I'm sure no athlete wants to base his future on that hope alone. Thanks.

I haven't checked to the MRI yet since it's still swelling right to this day. Since a torn acl can still walk right after it pops, is it safe to assume partial can't move after it pops? it's because i literally couldn't move because of the pain.. I don't know if people generally have different levels of pain receptors, but mine hurt a lot.. I'm really hoping that it's only a partial tear from the symptomps that i feel..

    Talk about his graft options. Pretty sure he's getting patella vs. hammy or cadaver. Gotta protect that speed.

    I've watched every video Dr. Sutterer has ever done on ACL tears. I can spot them with one or two replays. I don't even listen to the announcers because they haven't been trained by Dr. Sutterer like I have. :)

    I didn't not have surgery for 2 months after tearing my ACL. It's sore, but you can definitely walk

    Tore my ACL in 2007 and no one can really explain the extreme pain when it initially tears. I've been stabbed broken nose from boxing and torn rotator cuff and the acl tear was the worse. Everytime i see someone tear the acl it makes me. You can still walk but have to be very conscious of not pivoting or squatting. Lol just walk straight.

    That was nasty, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a full tear. It's crazy how easy it is to tear considering the pivotal part it plays in everyday function.

    The time of this injury was completely ominous. Bama lost their deep threat when he went down. With no more stretch of the field possible, Georgia clamped down on the freshman wide receivers!

    As a football fan I can now stop an ACL tear whenever I see one cuz they can be easily seen in the leg motion and generally it’s a non contact injury

    Everything I prayed for not to happen in this game happened. I knew Williams was a key to Alabama winning another championship. I prayed that he wouldn't get hurt like this. Menchie suffered the same faith. I didn't want it to happen to him.

    I knew he tore it the second I saw the replay. See it a dozen or more times, even to myself.
