  • Zach Miller of the Chicago Bears suffered a knee dislocation that resulted in him nearly losing his leg.
I'm a doctor and a sports fan and in this video I'm going to teach you some basics about knee dislocations and why amputation is a real risk with these injuries. It is by far one of the most devastating injuries we've seen recently, but there are still some valuable learning points in it.
Go check out the other knee dislocations i've talked about already!

I remember this game vividly. Felt so badly for him, but it sounds like he's doing well today. Modern medicine really is so impressive. Great video, as always. This channel is synonymous with quality content.

You do a great job explaining this stuff. If you ever get worn out from practicing, you should teach like anatomy and physiology or something. You do just as well if not better than my professors at getting these concepts across🤙

My wife had this same injury wake boarding a month before Zach. We we lucky to have an ER doctor who was a specialist for this injury. And saved her leg.

Hey Doc, you should do Todd Gurley's arthritis in his left knee. It was supposedly the same knee that he has ACL reconstruction on. I tore my acl 2 weeks ago and i'm researching what's the best option to limit my chances of developing arthritis in the future, would love your input!

You should do Greg Oden's Kneecap injury, or how Brandon Roy's lack of cartilage in his knees even happened

I had the same thing happen. My knee bent back like that and it shattered my tibia plateau and tore my ACL as I came down. By the time they got me into surgery my leg was so swollen that I had really bad compartment syndrome and the Doctor cut my leg open on both sides to lower the pressure. Nothing changed, my muscles were no longer getting blood flow. For fear that he might have to amputate my leg, the doctor waited a extra 5 minutes. According to the surgical notes, with 30 seconds left my muscles started to finally get blood flow.
