    I tore my ACL in my right knee about a month ago and haven’t got surgery yet. I was supposed to get surgery this week. Instead I was playing basketball and tried to cut with my other leg and I’m pretty sure I tore my other ACL as well.. not very religious but I can really use a prayer right now.. to whomever you guys pray to. ❤️

      I can understand your pain. I tore mine in February at my team's basketball match. Due to covid and my parents' protectiveness I wasn't able to get the surgery and now I won't be able to play this year as well. But don't worry you can overcome this! Even without the surgery I feel fine there's just a risk that comes with doing reckless things. Just continue doing post-ACL injury workouts on both of your knees.

    Thank you so much for this video. I have a question. Doctors have performed tests like this on me (first doctor performed several tests on my knee, second did the second test you showed) and after they did these tests, I was in pain the rest of the day. To be clear I have intermittent pain in my right knee that I don't know the cause of (however I have a feeling it is due to excessive elliptical trainer use). Any time I use an elliptical or stationary bike now, even for less than a minute, the pain flares up and it becomes very difficult for me to even walk. Anyway, is there a reason why these tests would cause me pain?

    HI Guys, Thanks for helpful videos. I had an accident 15 days back and my patella got dislocated which came back to position just after the accident but I was not able to stand and my knees limped and were not stable. I got MRI done and it said High grade partial tear of ACL and MCL. but with exercises and proper rests I regained my range of motion and I am able to walk with mild pain. Do I need surgery or will it develop itself?

    Oh wow, this is like step by step what happened to me. I play football (soccer) and it was a simple defensive non-contact exercise on changing direction and pace. I went left but my right foot that I planted slipped a little forward and I felt like my whole leg was coming out of joint. Immediately fell down. People like 40-50m from me came to me and said they also head a "pop" sound.
    Now I have no idea how serious this is. I have just now done my MRT scans after a simple X-ray but they are fairly certain its a torn (or broken) ACL and of course I managed to break my meniscus.
    The bad part is I have no idea if I'm healing at all? I mean now it has been almost 2 weeks since my injury and I can somewhat walk with crutches (and a 80-90 degree orthosis on my leg) but I have no way of knowing if I'm healing or if I can be more "bold" so to speak with my leg.
    So in no way I can tell because the injury really doesn't have any "pain" but I still can't tell if my 10 degree ability to bend my knee with the brace is counterproductive or if me walking more on my leg is not allowing my knee to heal? Of course I know it would be best to 24h stay constantly in bed but I have to move, live and work.
    A strange injury for a long time. :(

    At practice a few weeks ago my foot was planted but my knee turned inside, there was a pop. Instantly there was swelling and I couldn't straighten it or put much weight on it, after a few days I went to the doctor, they were afraid that it was my meniscus or my ACL but thankfully it was due to my patella shifting causing Patellar Subluxation, I sadly have to wear a knee brace for a while but it's better than my ACL

    Hey, for the past couple of hours I've been suffering a knee problem. Earlier today somebody kicked the back of my knee and since then some of the symptoms started to appear. Towards the outside center of my knee is a pins and needles sensation and it feels numb when I walk. I also feel a little unstable as it is numb and it feels very weird to walk. However, there is absolutely no pain whatsoever or sound that my knee makes. Do you guys have any idea what might be causing this weird sensation in my knee and could it be anything serious like a tear?

I was already having a terrible year, many major problems have happened all since this year started. I know I will make it thru. I am trying my best to stay positive. It’s just really hard finding out about this full ACL tear plus numerous fractures, other 2 ligaments torn, and and meniscus bucket handle tear! Just jumped while playing with my family at the park, and landed wrong twisting my knee and it gave out from under me.

    Thank you so much for this video! The first time I tore my acl, meniscus, and lcl, my athletic trainer did these tests and I had completely forgotten what they were until now! Unfortunately I think I have torn it again, it feels the same as it did the first time and felt totally unstable when I got someone to perform these tests on my knee (I've already torn my meniscus completely again as well). I wish I could get the surgery but I'm a college student with no health insurance and mounds of student debt 😂 are there any exercises to strengthen the knee around the ACL area so that I can at least feel a little more normal? Or even to just alleviate the pain until I can get it surgically repaired?

    I tore my right knee acl almost 5 years ago, then got it repaired almost 3 years ago (waited almost 2 years to get it repair cause started a new job and university). Got it repaired with salt bolts (its like metal bolts but there made of salt and dissolve with time) and it was succesfull. Started to lose weight to go into the military, but then playing volleyball a week ago, tore my left knee acl. Thinking about it, just makes me really sad and hopeless. People dont understand, is not the physical part, but the mentality of it and it can crush you. Hope to get private healthcare to get the same surgery and hope to god that in the future I can accomplish my goals of being in the military. Prayers to all of you sports people and people in general who are sideline in your own journey.

    8 days from now I will be 4 years post opp. I never have been injury prone in 16 years and I tore it on a baseball field running trough first base. Intense pain at first (Adam Eaton injury to a T) followed by some numbing and swelling. I was not happy with my surgeon however. 1, scar was not properly sealed and took 4 months to seal and 2, I was pressed and rushed into walking. I needed a second surgery for scar tissue removal.
    I’ve broken a few small bones and hyper extended a few joints. But I don’t wish this injury on to no one. Especially a top prospect in his sophomore or junior year of school.

    I tore my ACL in a soccer game 3 years ago and got an MRI a week later and never followed up with my ortho doc to review the images because the swelling came down and didn’t think much of it. A few months later, I was back to training, weight lifting and playing soccer. Lived for the next 3 years with no pain or inflammation and re injured the same knee playing a soccer game. Finally went back to my ortho doc and after this exact assessment and reviewing my old MRI, he stated I tore my ACL 3 years ago and need surgery if I want to keep playing. That made me depressed. He stated the muscles around my knee have compensated for the lack of an ACL but will be susceptible to re injuring my knee and causing more damage to my meniscus and other ligaments. I’m 28 now, and after 1 week of my recent injury I can walk with no pain or instability. Should I hold off on the surgery if I stop playing sports and experiencing no pain or other symptoms?

    I was on a trampoline and came down and my knee popped and was honestly one of the worst pains of my life. The doc did one of these tests on me actually. My good knee first, then my bad knee. She said there was very little stability in my left knee and I'm scheduled for a MRI Wednesday... this happened this past Thursday and my knee is still swollen. Can barely bend it at 90 degrees and can barely walk. After watching this I feel like I know what's going on...

I heard a loud pop and instantly felt severe pain. Swelling lasted a week and had very little ROM. I tried these tests and no slippage, but the only pain I feel is in the back of my knee. Locking it out really hurts....any help would be greatly appreciated

  • @Clrp_23
    @Clrp_23 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Best advice I can give when it comes to tearing your acl is that you will hear a pop in your knee and may feel a hot sensation in your knee for a bit. It will swell up and you may be able to walk after a bit. Get the MRI and a second opinion if you need. After the surgery you should start your physical therapy exercises right away as you are able to. The longer you wait the harder it will be to get your leg straight again and start to feel strength in it. I still have to stretch my knee daily and it’s been a year. This injury sucks and I waited a week long to start my exercises and wish I started right away. Also don’t puss out when it comes to the pain of working your leg. It will hurt the straighter you try to get it.

      @Clrp_23 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maddym1434 If you do have the same injury and you get surgery, Make sure you do your exercises and stretch your leg. It was very painful and my leg would get stiff. It made it worst since i didn't start my exercises right away. It will probably take a little while before you will be back to 100%. This is all if you have the same injury. It helped me to straighten my leg when I had physical therapy and we tried to push my exercises. It hurt but felt better after the sessions.

    I've torn both of my ACL's. Tore my first one (right knee) in 2014, when I was 14 years old. Jumped and landed wrong and I just heard a loud snap. Couldn't get up and my knee locked inward if I put pressure on that leg.My teammate about 6-7 ft away said even he heard the pop. Then I tore my left one 2 years later or last spring, and also stretched my MCL. Both times were excruciating and after the 2nd time, I just decided to stop playing. Had to have rehab for about 3-4 months each time and spent countless weeks in bed after the surgeries. From experience, this injury is god awful. I'd rather break a bone then have this happen again.

    I had SPD during pregnancy thereafter I was left with lower back pain (mainly on the left right next to the tail bone) now 9 months later suddenly my knee started popping and cracking while going up and down the stairs -no injury and I'm not overweight and overnight became so painful that it started to swell up!
    I went to the doctors but she just gave me ibuprofen and asked me to rest it out. I've been following few of the stretches that you do have recommended. it's been a week now, and the pain has gone down a little but it is still painful to climb up a nd down the stairs and they still do pop.
    FYI I am flat footed although that has never caused any problem to me or any of my flat footed family members...so what could it be?!

I can actually move the band and the pain will ease. similar tightness and occasional pop and lock on the lower right. What could it be?

    About 4 years ago, I was told I might have an ACL tear because I failed these tests. I was kicked from my insurance, so I never got the MRI to confirm. Anytime I play basketball, my knee is in tremendous pain after I cool down. This pain will usually last a couple days and I'm very unstable as my knee tends to give out frequently during these periods. However, I am not in any pain at all if I do not engage in this type of activity, I can actually stay mildly active and have full motion normally. Now that I have health insurance, is it a good idea to get it checked out? Can an ACL tear repair itself after so much time passed since the injury?
