  • A listener sent us a video that’s been going around showing a new 6.7L Powerstroke with no DPF from the factory. We asked him if he’d like to share his thoughts on it, and today he chats with us! What do you think about brand new trucks with no emissions for export or government use?

We own two 6.0 Powerstrokes. 03 and 04. They’ve been rock solid pullers. My wife and I live simply and have older stuff but we keep it nice and maintain it like it’s new. Our trucks pull and stop what we put behind them pretty much perfectly. I get ribbed about keeping our older trucks sometimes but they’re all we can afford and they get the job done without the hassle of newer emissions equipment. Podcasts like these are priceless for me. I have learned so much about what to do to keep our older trucks running and what upgrades to save up for when an overhaul is needed.

The best argument I have heard for the misguided emissions approach is the comparison of my diesel F-150 3.0s entire lifetime of emissions production without a DPF vs a year of emissions from a single container ship. These values are not even remotely comparable. The EPA has focused on the least effective method to reduce emissions and increased cost to the individual consumer rather than adjusting something on a large scale that would actually be productive. This is the message that needs to be spread and explored more by diesel enthusiast and emissions regulators.

This is totally misguided the government doesn’t care about lowering emissions , it’s a talking point, a means to an end. They want more influence in your life so they can hire more bureaucrats and there by have a larger pot to skim off. These people make a living sucking resources from the people who build things people who fix things people who provide a necessary service. Just like equality. the diversity industry is a global trillion dollar industry you think these millionaire politicians want to be equal with you? 😂no argument is going to change anything this is about power and how to inflict it on the average person but not so much that it causes destabilization to the machine.

Great video. And this is exactly why I drive only 7.3 powered trucks. I just completed a rebuild of a 7.3 and boosted the power to 425 HP for HotShot towing. My daily driver is a 96 F350. They both run super well. The only reason for the rebuild on the 2002 is somebody drove it through OK in 110 heat and blew a radiator hose and kept driving it. It overheated so bad it cracked both heads. I bought it cheap with the intention of a rebuild. The 96 is still running the original injectors. It has been converted to e-fuel but thats about it. It's got 375k and still running great.

I recently found your channel because we are getting an RV, sold my 2020 Raptor and ordered a 2024 F350 Platinum SRW HO Tremor, but that’s not coming in till March”ish”. The RV will be here Sep/Oct sooooo i needed a truck and found, a 2007 Ram 2500 5.9 Crew Cab, to pull the 14k pound RV in the mean time. I might just keep it and not continue with the F350 order. I may need to lower the 6” lift and ad air bags.
It’s tuned about 450hp with a Stage 2 Sun Coast transmission, new stock injectors and new brakes :). All installed about 13k miles ago. So all great upgrades.
It’s need some TLC though. If you made it this far you should consider broadening your audience by bring on RV guys and talking about what they use to pull. Just a thought, thank you for the videos!

I bought a 4th gen cummins a 2012 mega cab... It's probably a government vehicle, as they order them without emissions equipment. In reality the concept of the emissions system design and its components. It doesn't do anything to begin with, tell me how after the violent combustion cycle in that millisecond that the exhaust is forced out the head into the header how a single egr valve gathers all 6 cylinders of unburnt fuel being attached to none ricuirclates your exhaust back through the manifold adding hot oxygen free gasses to be burnt again. It can't, and how does running fuel vapor through some charcoal before pumping it back into the engine does anything, when that same cannister just dumps the vapors into the air when the vehicle is idling. The system was designed as another tax on the people and has created a whole Government entity on a bogus system.

They has 6.2’s & 6.5’s, those were pre-emissions in the first place. 2) they’re military vehicles that need max reliability and even if they were built post 2007, there’s no guarantee they’d be in an area where ULSD fuel would be available.

Additionally, I'm not wrong. The US cannot legally impose their laws on other countries. If you think differently you have no concept of what sovereignty is. Now pertaining to what US companies can legally sell in other countries, it depends. US federal law states that, for a vehicle to be domestically sold for use on public roads, it must be emission compliant. That's the law and why this does not apply to the military or to exports.

I promise there is a point being made here but it may become lengthy or require a couple posts to complete. In the US, every citizen is also a national. You can declare yourself one but not the other because (and according to the 13th amendment) it has to be voluntary. No one can tell you what political affiliation you must be. You can declare yourself a national but not a citizen. Wouldn't buy a diesel truck that requires def fluid. Biggest POSs on the road.

Just an idea I am going to put out there: What if a person were to move to Mexico and become a Mexican citizen, buy a truck, then come back to America and become an American citizen again? Is that even a possibility?

Sorry I have to be honest and say that this guest is not what I expect on your channel. I don't know what "tech school" he attended but..... May be I am expecting too much by wanting to hear from someone that understands automotive / diesel technology. The "dude" you met at the bar last night is clearly not that person. Please do better rather that simply pumping out content for obvious reasons $$. You do some really good Podcasts and ask great questions, this is not one.

Couple things, the guest is a podcast listener and shared the video with us. He’s been a longtime supporter, and we appreciate that. Second, it’s very difficult to have open conversations about the EPA and emissions with companies/experts willing to publicly comment. There are a handful that will, but most want to stay off the emissions radar. We understand why, but it’s a fact. And really, there’s no other podcast that allows regular truck guys to have a voice. We’ve always aimed to allow that on our platform. Third, we felt it important to bring the topic from a short video, to an open discussion on our channel and social media. So we made the creative choice to highlight it on an episode so it didn’t get lost. Lastly, we’ve never had guests on from a bar, but depending on if it’s after a big race or event, it could make for a great episode! We definitely appreciate the criticism and use it constructively. But I wanted to explain the background and thought process we had with the episode.

This dude has been in the industry a long time. I also have been working on diesel engines and systems for over 10yrs. I totally understand how stuff works. What exactly in your eyes did I say that u didn’t like are seem to make it look like I don’t know what I’m talking about? Cause I don’t know everything and always learning.
