Honest question do automakers deserve to lose millions or billions when they settled with their EPA when they had to pay their fines? After doing so they all claimed to admit to no wrong doing.
After watching EPA doing its thing over the last decade you come to find out, just how hypocritical some diesel owners have been regarding the 2010 EPA Diesel regulations from the big manufactures to the small business owners.
So here lies the hypocrisy: Ha! Ha! Ha! VW you got caught with making your ecm tell lies when doing an electronic emission test now you have to pay billions. "Oh, that's so funny!" Of course Volkswagen Group wasn't the only one to have to pay a major fine it was one automaker that just had to pay the largest at the time.
Every manufacturer from, Ford, GM, and former FCA,. I think even Toyota, & Nissan also got EPA fined for violating the Clean Air Act for their Diesel made trucks. When they all settled their civil penalties no diesel owner stood up with the manufacturers when they all got heavily fined. There never was no rally cry for the Automakers, however because they never made big time news that ruined the name brand image truck owners would continue to buy the newer diesel trucks regardless of the fines they had to pay.
After the VW Group Diesel scandal VW owners even started having a class action lawsuits brought against VW. They expected their diesel cars would be clean Air compliant, so they stood on the side of the EPA.
In the last few years right after Diesel Brothers got fined in Colorado the automotive news media took notice so now you a bunch of diesel owners defending the small shops for selling and or installing illegal emission systems that should have been meant for off road use only, The Diesel Auto shops didn't protect themselves with making customers sign waiver forms or asked owners the question are you using a your diesel delete off road use only before selling or installing illegal aftermarket parts? Yet when all the diesel manufactures were caught violating EPA regulation diesel owners weren't real quick to defend the manufactures when They all got with big time fines. They got laughed at. So in 2018 the world changed. Did America deserve to lose the option for a diesel engine choice for cars and 1/2 trucks? Why do you think VW doesn't sell diesel cars in the US anymore. Take note! After decades all the Auto manufactures were selling millions of diesel cars and light trucks but after the VW diesel scandal the diesel engine vehicles dried up faster than a VW TDI.

Biodiesel and creating your own fuel fascinates me. Growing sunflowers and blending home made deisel fuel is my goal. All fueled by a film on PBS where these women drove their diesel van across the US and recycled old cooking oil into diesel fuel right in the hotel parking lot with simple tools. I have been sold on this concept ever since. We can grow and blend our own diesel fuel and don't need all these big oil corps. dictating to us. Fuel and or energy independence can come to reality for some people, but never as long as fedgov and bigoilcorp both control the topic. • @invictusbp1prop143
      @invictusbp1prop143 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It’s all performative and money grubbing. I used to do air emissions testing at refineries, manufacturers, chemical plants, plastics plants, etc…. All these facilities are required to purchase permits from the feds and state environmental agencies . The cost of the permits is based on the type of pollutants they emit (VOCs, O2, NOx, particulate matter, etc.) and the volume of each. They estimate what their emissions will be and pay for an initial permit to get started on any new process they put into production. Then when it starts running they’re required to provide a official testing reports outlining how much of what pollutants they’re emitting using official testing procedures set forth in the Code Of Federal Regulations. The permit holder is required to hire a 3rd party testing company who comes out with a mobile laboratory and uses specialized equipment, analyzers, collection apparatus, etc capable of real time monitoring of many pollutants and often do on site sample processing and provide immediate preliminary results in order to optimize processes then conduct official testing on actual production runs. The results are presented to the regulatory agencies and the customer upon completion. Results must be within the parameters of their permits. If the permit holder is unable to produce within the permit limits, they are in violation of that permit. To continue production as is, they just have to “amend the permit”…which just means pay more for permission to produce your product by increasing your permit cost commensurate with the increase in each pollutant being emitted. Pollute more, no problem, just have to pay more. And the testing is done by an outside contractor hired by the permit holder. The regulatory agencies may or may not have a monitor/inspector come out during testing to verify the scientist contractors are performing the testing per the SOPs and properly handling samples and calibrating equipment and using proper lab procedures and calculations, etc. There’s no way they can really verify everything’s above board without being prohibitively invasive. And they aren’t even always on sight to check anything. They do audit test reports sometimes where they go thru and check calculations and make sure the science is correct but it only catches people who make dumb mistakes or blatantly try to falsify results without being smart enough to do so. Bottom line is that the people doing the report work for the plant that needs certain results. If you know what you’re doing, you can easily manipulate results if you’re that kind of company and working for that kind of company. In my experience most permit holders legit want to be in compliance and not exceed their permits. The risk is pretty huge as they can lose permits if there caught cheating. But getting caught being over is a simple financial transaction. . The regulatory agencies for the most part are only regulating how fat of a check they receive on each permit. There are obviously limits they wouldn’t allow to be permitted. But they’re huge numbers. Pretty much any modern process producing anything in the states is designed to be within reasonable parameters, unlike China or India. Anything we can’t produce here within reasonable parameters they have made in China or India. Anything not super filthy they produce here, just has to maintain a margin that’ll cover the cost of the permit. It’s not about making the plants run while producing the lowest emissions possible, it’s about making sure they collect all the money they can based on their maximum allowable pollution levels.

They used a straight pipe from a diesel truck and hooked up volunteers with heart issues and respiratory diseases like athsma to masks forcing them to breath direct exhaust from the vehicle. I’m not implying that exhaust isn’t bad but the battery alternative has vapors just as deadly but no pipe to avoid. The issue with the experiment was they severely harmed the volunteers with a direct connection to the exhaust, unethical, and they were introducing people to 1000’s of times the exposure to prove the harm done by diesel engines. It’s like giving someone a bucket of cough syrup and killing them for a cold when a tsp is the dose, then saying look we told you that medicine could be deadly.

I am a NJ resident and have been for over 10 years. The case of the kid scrapping his truck is not so black and white. He had the option of surrendering his engine instead of scrapping the whole truck. The NJ DEP fined me the same way they did that kid that scrapped his truck. Except my truck had been sold already for over a year by the time they fined me so I only had to pay the fine. But while talking to Tim Davis, whos name is on the form that you get in the mail, he presented the options that I would have had if I still owned the truck. One of them being surrendering your engine if you do not have the funds to return to stock. Have had to put a ton of customers trucks back to stock at the shop I worked at as well as have had few friends that got the same fine, one of which is scrapping his truck bc it is a 280k mile rotted out 6.4. Maybe one day I can share all these experiences on the show lol

They threw him on the ground with a foot on his head and kept saying "why did you do?" He was entirely at a loss for what was going on.
A couple of weeks earlier he had hired a guy to haul garbage and miscellaneous stuff he no longer needed and were basically useless. Well, instead of disposing of the truck load or maybe more than one,it's been a long time. The guy found a ravine out of sight of pretty much anybody and just dumped it there. Apparently mail and other things that had his name, business addresses etc. So the raid was for illegal dumping. I don't know of anyone who didn't think it was excessive or just insane.

This is batshit crazy, but having dealt with the federal government personally I am not totally surprised. I don’t wish for any in the diesel truck industry to get fined or get charges brought against them, but why are they messing with this guy ??? He basically just sells parts. If the manufacturer can legally make and sale the parts how is it illegal for this guy to sale parts he doesn’t even make. To simplify this - this is the same as O’Reillys or Autozone etc catching federal charges or getting fined for selling parts. The parts stores don’t manufacture anything they just sale the stuff. Why not go to the source of the problem which would be the manufacture, although I don’t want them to have to endure any of this either but at least they probably have the money to pay the fines for the most part unlike the “little guys”. It’s Complete government/EPA overreach bullshit!!! Welcome to Ameri-China-Russia, you can buy & own the truck with your hard earned cash but you can’t work on it or fix it without our say so !!!!

Why would you feel bad because the federal government failed at enforcing law properly for many years? Stop allowing them to make you feel like a bad person, because they didn't properly enforce law. They didn't do their job, which allowed many of us to improperly inform customers while doing our jobs. Stop allowing the government to treat you like a criminal when the fact is, they are running a money game by not properly informing the public of the laws they aim to enforce. Also inform them that the laws are written in a way that leaves a massive grey area making it impossible to know if our businesses are actually compliant. For the common man. Most diesel shop owners, don't study law before opening a shop. Quit feeling bad because the government is scamming you. You are the victim here.

There's certain states that still have certain laws that date back to the 1800s that were never enforced. There should only be one page the size of a standard notebook page and all the laws should fit on to that one page. Or it should be the laws are basically what the Ten Commandments were. All the bills that get passed in Congress should only be one page. And I should also be written in plain simple English and not legallise. If it can't fit on to one page then it doesn't need to be passed.

People need to begin focusing on the solution rather than just the problem. Advertising these raids is doing the governments job for them.. Solutions vary depending upon your situation of course, however the most important thing to do is limit your liability using corporate structure or LLC. If you own a shop, form a corporation solely to perform 'emissions' work. Have a unique bay assigned and charge rent and labor to that company, as well as separate payment routing. That corporate shell then becomes the target instead of your home or entire shop! They will take everything you have if you let them.

What if he was able to sell a product that allowed a vehicle to get 100-1,000 mpg??? Big oil would make him and his whole family disappear permanently. Power tuners and accessories are not illegal to purchase, sell, or install for use. If they reduce emissions, so what??? I’d tell them to go f##k themselves.

This is stupid that trucks owners can't be given the best advice about what you can legally do. What you can't do under any circumstance is manufacture or sell any type of autopart[s] that involve any type of emission diesel delete parts or that will alter a trucks emissions. This is the most easy question to answer.
If you do this you won't get hit with EPA laws. What can do outside 11 the States that don't enforce CARB EPA rules. You can do with your truck what ever you want with it. The EPA is not going to take action on your own vehicle. They are only going after illegal part sellers. However with EPA crack downs your not going to buy off road diesel delete systems like were 3 years ago when the EPA want after Diesel Brothers. There 11 States that have adopted CARB rules. You going to have to abide by those 11 States EPA in order to keep your truck legal.
There are legal and compliant diesel tuners that don't tamper with vehicles diesel emissions. With EPA enforcement there is no reason why has to have a diesel delete in order to race off road competition. If your 2010 truck or later is emissions compliant then you should be compete with all other trucks that are also compliant.
Your always going to have truck that are always going to have I want my truck to have such and such more horsepower and willing to put off road parts that tamper with every aspect of emissions to do it and will say hell with EPA. Ok then but if your truck can't one of 11 States smog test law I not going to feel bad for you if your State tells to get your truck back into compliance. However for everyone else go put the smoke in the air I don't care.

The clean air act is a whole joke. Nothing but a joke. You have these big jets flying around putting tons of pollution in the air. You have these cruise ships they don’t do anything about them all these cargo ships all they’re putting tons of pollution out there in the air Yet they’re worried about us driving our diesel pick ups and trying to make them cleaner by modifying the computer or something else on the truck to make them work better and make these engines last longer. Our government is upside down totally screwed up and they don’t know what the hell they’re doing at any given moment one man says something, and then the other one says something else, they don’t know what they’re doing. They’re like clowns in a circus chasing each other‘s butts. I think I better quit while I’m ahead before I get thrown in jail for saying something that really pisses them off but I am glad that my 1997 pick up came from the factory, without all that stuff on it it’s a clean pick up with no EGR valve or soot can or anything else on it

If it was about the environment they would be going hydrogen and pushing different driving habits to save fuel. It's about money 💰

The EPA is not going after the Electric Vehicles Companies for environmental impact pollution, because out of sight out of mind. Shipping pollution across the the ocean is still pollution and not only is the diesel engines overseas have zero emissions on them, the machinery producing mines only produce about 10-20% of the Cobalt in the mines, the other 80-90% of Cobalt comes from Modern Day Slavery Mines where people go into these mines without PPE and die from Radiation Poisoning for just enough money to get through the day to day living and some of their meals consist of dirt pies which is nothing but dirt and some grains.
What I don't get is how many people have to DIE for people to get their EV Vehicles?
Pollution we can deal with, we have the technology to clean the air and reuse the sludge in the farm feilds for fertilizer no problem, but why kill people to produce EV Vehicles?

They are acting unconstitutionally!!! As well as that how can the hand force it on all the little people when freight companies on cargo ships and cruise liners don’t have to worry about any of it you can’t have different laws for the same thing for different people
