Zeb Well's Gang Wars is FINALLY OVER - The Amazing Spider-Man #44 Review

- Welcome or welcome back to the stash! today we go over the new issue of The Amazing Spider-Man.
PREVIOUSLY;
The gang war ends now! MADAME MASQUE and BEETLE gathered their forces in Central Park to decide who would take all the marbles. With upgraded tech from RABBLE, a near endless supply of A.I.M. grunts, and hypnotized heavy hitters COUNT NEFARIA, SILVERMANE, and SHOTGUN on her side, Madame Masque readied a killing blow but was interrupted when Spidey and his allies arrived on the scene. Not one to look a gift-spider in the mouth, Beetle fell back to let the heroes and her father, TOMBSTONE, take on Masque's army.
While fighting, Tombstone broke Masque's spell on Shotgun, who revealed he was sent to New York by a government agency to stop the growing threat posed by Beetle. Tombstone realized just how far his daughter had fallen and, determined to save her in the only way he knows how, took Beetle out.

This event was a waste of a title. I didn’t see a Gang War. I just saw a bunch of people dealing with personal problems while treating all the gangs in New York as a sidequest. Hell I’m as mad as Danny. You had the kung-fu guys fight tanks? And you chose not to show us that! Come on!
Spider-Man wasn’t even the main character in his own title the entirety of this story😭I don’t know what the hell they were thinking
@@mnstash I realized halfway into the event that this was a Lincoln family story more than a Spider-Man story. And honestly, I feel _so_ unsatisfied with how this event ended. Tombstone did not deserve that win (assuming you can call it that).
What was that he said earlier? "I helped you out in the open. Everyone saw it. My reputation is ruined" and now that’s apparently not a problem? All he has to do now is beat up Spider-Man to assert his dominance and everything is fine for him? Just go up and beat up Spider-Man like everyone else did in this run?
And I heard that they’re actually considering giving Peter a new love interest. Why? They don’t plan to let Peter stay with anyone, so why bother? People can read stories that don’t have romance. But fans will hate having to read ships that they hate. Marvel should know this, so why?
Marvel is stuck in this destructive cycle with Spider-Man filled with a bunch of morons who have zero idea with what they’re doing. They’ve tried new love interests after omd and it never works! They refuse to listen to reason and I’m just so tired of it
To be honest, I stopped reading ASM during the Nick Spencer era. It was going nowhere and I was bored for the duration of the run. I went back to see who Kindred was, and I was honestly unimpressed and underwhelmed by what that finale ended up being.
I was tired of the repetitive nature of the modern ASM run. So when Zeb took up the writing position, at that point I was done with the rinse and repeat cycle of the book. I wasn’t interested in the storyline, or how the characters were being written.
But USM has been an amazing fresh take on the character that I feel like Spider-Man as an IP needed. Only two issues in it has more strength in its writing and characters, it’s going to be awhile (if ever) before I touch ASM again. But USM has been a nice change of pace.
Never in this run did i ever have a moment where i thought "Man this is an iconic spidey moment". When this run is over i feel like this era is going to be referred to as the time spiderman got cucked and butchered
Maybe zeb wells is writing himself into spidey at this point

Most pointless and boring comic I think I’ve ever read
It’s literally back to square one minus a law that the Heroes openly violate and _another_ relationship from the previous run has been ruined for no good reason.
That and Spider-Woman lost her son. Although that’s more of her story than a Gang War story.
I didn’t even bother reading the last two issues and plan on trading in the rest of the run to my comic shop. Idk if I hated this or dark web more

This event was just garbage and such a complete trainwreck of an event that made no sense whatsoever.

Once you got well, I hoped you get to review amazing spider man #900 which to us is a prequel of some sorts to the pointless and unecessary sentient tentalce story from asm 27,28,29 and 30 man

It's so weird too, back around 2010-ish I remember Wells writing a fairly decent one issue story about Spider-Man and Wolverine going to a bar. Judging solely on by that, his Spidey run should have been at least decent to solid, not the dumpster fire we had ended up with.

Even the shittiest webtoon is far more entertaining than modern Batman and Spiderman. Even the most generic manga is more entertaining than anything zeb wells has written, how had modern writing gotten so drastically bad

oh that group of villians is as lazy as it gets. no thought put in them whatsoever its literally just grab these guys and make them women! the creativity is dead
@@mnstash Absolutely! At least female Doc Ock had a story reason for becoming a villain, to avenge her mentor's death! None of these other ones do!

Another great review. However, my rating is 2.5 out of 10 or 1 star out of 4 over the entire run of this garbage. That's being generous. This book should be called "Unamazing Spider-Man", so then we would have two USM comic books. The question in Zeb Well'a run is can Spider-Man defeat any villain despite being an A-list to a D-list villain? The obvious answer is no. Complete and utter trash. Please take the trash out because it really stinks at this point. It's like the garbage men are on strike at Marvel. Jeez! Of course, Jackpot to the rescue. Give me a break! The panels with Randy are completely infantile, worse than third-grade level to me. Marvel and DC are dead to me. These companies are beyond decomposing corpses, they're more like fossil remains at this point, and the sad part is if I were an archeologist, I'd put the fossil remains back where I dug them up because they're worthless.
