What sucks about the whole Paul thing is Zeb Wells is a fantastic writer especially after reading his hellions X-Men series it was generally one of the best comics of the last few years. Him taking over Spider-Man could have been really cool but I don't know why this is the story he wanted to do
@@halpee7690 which I just hate. Spider-Man's growing up made him so interesting in 1970's and 1980's, when he became a husband and a father of his beloved kids. And grew up into a young adult.

Yup, welcome to the comic side of Spidey😂, there’s a reason behind the “Writers try not to ruin Peter’s life” meme. Let’s hope Hickman can redeem him with the new Ultimate Spiderman comic launching this week!

@@Lazyllama-ro1jh As much as I love Bendis's Ultimate Spider-man I won't lie when I say this but he kind of screwed up the whole Venom plot, like it started off vary fucking good then Venom is gone for like almost 100 issues and when he dose show back up they have a half cocked version of the plot from the Ultimate Spider-man video game then they have the venom symbiote mix with the carnage symbiote and make the most fugly symbiote design I've ever fucking seen... like what were they thinking?!!?
They did this to the X-men too until they were so hated marvel/disney got the rights back for Penny’s on the dollar, I think they’re doing it again with spiderman but BIG SPIDEY is waayyyy to popular for that tactic to work
In some bittersweet ways, because the writers hate Spider Man is what makes him relatable and lovable. The guy who goes through so much hardships and trauma and despite it all remains a great guy and helps everyone, and gets sad when he can’t save someone. It reminds us that no matter what we go through, the choice is on us to do what’s right.
Nah, that would imply that they were doing a good job. The spider verse is good, but these comics are not. At least the Green Lanterns aren’t the only type of Lanterns, and they have multiple good characters in their ranks.
Marvel does hate Spider-Man because they know they are nothing without him. Marvel is only relevant because of Spider-Man and that makes Marvel mad. Everyone loves Spider-Man even DC fans love Spider-Man he's up there with Batman and Superman as being one of the greatest superheroes of all time. Spider-Man is my favorite superhero and it genuinely breaks my heart to see Marvel treat him so poorly. My boy needs that Batman treatment he needs to be treated like a god because Spider-Man is forever carrying Marvel.
3:29 You get that with every comic character. Because some of the people who were writers were fans and wanted to preserve their childhood. Though, they were doing something in the early 2000s but then wiped it all away because one of the writers just wanted to piss off fans. It's called One More Day, and it's the reason I 100% stopped reading comics.
That´s because Stan Lee said Peter was his favorite and modern Marvel and Disney HATE Stan Lee with a passion so they do whatever they can to destroy his legacy.
Have you read any of the original Spider-Man comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko? I noticed you didn't mention any of them which is really weird considering the whole stance about always starting from the beginning you made. They're pretty neat! Untold Tales Of Spider-Man is also cool!
I think he gave it a short mention at the beginning. As I mentioned in my own comment, there is a good chance that he just watched a few videos about the character before making his own. I mean what are the chances that he read 60 years worth of Spidey comics?
@@natagu5794 Of course he didn't read them all, but I'm sure he's read quite a few, a comic can take 10-20 minutes read depending on your pace, 40ish for the Silver Aged issues, so you can squeze a bunch of them into a weekend, or a whole week if you're on a long break from work. I'm certain he could've read some highlights such as the start and ending of Superior Spider-Man, maybe not any complete runs, but I trust he read some stuff, after all he was honest about only reading two Batman stories, so if he hadn't read hardly any of this stuff I think he'd make note of it. Though I agree with you, in the sense that I don't think he knows as much as he believes, though he raises some good points. I guess it just goes to show that every comic is somebody's first, but if that first one isn't a doozy, it may turn them off the whole genre. To me, there is an alarming trend where if people are given more then one choice of something, their first instint is to throw up their arms and declare defeat. I am of course refering to how people who say that want to get into comics will refuse to do so if there's more then one starting point. Tell somebody to start one place and they'll maybe do it, but if you give them options they get angry at the very concept, which is especially silly since Spidey and several over Marvel characters only have one true beginning point, with Ultimate being the only real major counterpoint.
I have, and I didn't talk about it much because the video is about how the writers ruined the character, though I could have talked about the older comics more and how good they are compared to now, like the dip in quality. I only really did that with Superior Spider-Man and how I think they ruined him.
I saw one spider-man comic video talking about what's happening with Paul and Mary Jane and that inspired me to make this video and start reading the comics. I didn't read every spider-man comics, some of it I didn't finish because I lost interest and others I just skipped like when Peter gets an identity crisis.
Stan Lee had to fight just for Marvel to let him make Spider-Man in a precanceled multicomic short story series. As soon as marvel saw the sales they got all buddy buddy w Stan and said they love Spidey from the beginning. Marvel has never ever liked Spider-Man since he came out lmao that’s prolly why he became so popular in the first place.
So, couple things. To start with, I agree that Marvel Comics hate Spider-Man to an extent. But the problem doesn't lie with the writers, it's the editors that are forcing Peter to constantly regress and suffer. To be fair, the regression issue is a problem with American comics as a whole, at least the mainstream ones like Marvel and DC, but Spider-Man is rather frustrating with it at points. There's a bit more to it than this, but the jist is that the editors are a fan of how Spider-Man was handled in the 70s, so they keep trying to force him back to how he was then. Which is why One More Day happened, and actually why he made a deal with the devil in the first place. The writer, J.M.S, DID NOT want to write that story, because he really liked Peter and MJ as a couple, but Marvel Editorial forced him to do it, so he did it his way. Also worth pointing out that the part of that story where an alternate Peter talks down to the reader about using fiction to escape reality was written by one of the editors at the time (Joe Quesada I think?) And this is still an issue. The return of Otto Octavius? Editorial mandate. Making him become Doc Ock again and regressing all of his character growth since Superior Spider-Man (because yeah, he became Spider-Man again with a clone body and kinda went through his character arc again, only to be forced back into being a villain through YET ANOTHER deal with the devil) Editorial Mandate. Peter and MJ breaking up again? ... Honestly, we don't know for sure, but I'd be willing to bet that's the editors again. Last thing I will say is that I completely disagree with your point about Alternate Universes, because that's where a lot of the good stories are. Renew Your Vows, a world where he and MJ stayed together and become a superhero family with their daughter Annie? One of the best and most wholesome comics I've ever read. Ultimate Spider-Man is another good one, though it's definitely not perfect. Same with Spider-Men that aren't Peter. 2099 is one of my personal favorites, every single issue with him is great, and Miles and Gwen have a bunch of good books (though a lot of Gwen's recent stuff is... not great. Honestly, she might be worse off than Peter rn). Also the Spider-Man/Deadpool book where Deadpool kills him twice is one of the best Spider-Man stories ever. Like it's not perfect, there's a ton of filler in between all the good stuff, but the story of Peter redeeming Wade, while Peter slowly becomes corrupted is just amazing. There's so many good moments in there, and I recommend giving it another shot, at least Vol 1 and Vol 3 (Vol 2 is nothing but filler, and everything after 3 is just kinda... meh). Honestly a lot of the better Spider-Man stories are outside of Amazing Spider-Man. The writers on those other books have so much more creative freedom, whereas ASM has too many cooks in its kitchen, because its the best seller so the editors are far more controlling with it.
For real, one of the reasons JMS was even hired onto ASM was the make the marriage work again. He did, and he did it really, really well, which cemented people's love of the pairing at the time the Raimi movies were coming out and were huge, only for editorial to come back and tell him to ruin it. A divorce or MJ dying would have been devastating and hated, but it wouldn't have ruined his character like making a literal deal with the Devil to save his crypt keeper aunt did.
Love 2099, miles, noir and comic ultimate spider-man both of them and renew your vows those are peak spider-man comics also I love the spider-verse comics and it's spinoffs also love spider gwen
First off gotta say that sadly not a single video game or show except for Spectacular ever came close to bringing peak Spidey from the comics too life and even Spectacular failed at it. Second your mistake was seeing comics as 1 continous whole when each writer can be basically seen as a complete reboot. Thats why writers often just ignore what others did or outright retcon it in like 3 speech bubbles. Thats one of the few positives of comics, you can outright headcanon whatever you want unless its something integral like Uncle Ben dying.
Expect that the main stream comics are one continues story and just because multiple work on over the decades doesn't mean that everything is reboted unless it is explicitly stated.
@@soulman9018Yes man , it’s not like The Dan & Spencer situation or even the Spencer situation. I would say in the video games , there is Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions , Ultimate Spider-Man Total Mayhem , The Marvel’s Insomniac Trilogy and The TASM games , ect…(for this one I get it it’s not for everyone one , but it’s neat even great ! 👍) !
Wait. Peter never made a deal with the devil. The reason why it was so hated was because MJ made the deal. Peter was willing to make “A” deal with the devil (witch is still bad on every level) but after he heard his marriage was on the line he didn’t follow through. MJ wouldn’t allow Peter to let May die because she didn’t want Peter to live without May even though MJ’s whole thing is about forgetting the past and facing the future. If not for MJ Peter would have never gotten over Gwen’s death. So the fact that MJ of all people is willing to loose her husband over not being able to move forward after May’s death is why many people hate the “One More Day” storyline. Yes Peter was written poorly but MJ was the biggest problem there.
It's true. They brought in a bunch of diversity hires/nepotism bires, activists, and YA novel writers in hopes of attracting a new audience, and it just creatively tanked the entire mainstream American comics industry. It's not their only problem. They've had a failure to adjust to the market for decades, but the catering of quality in the people they hired has been quickly diminishing the number of dedicated readers they still had left. Now everyone's fleeing to indie American comics and manga, and the Big 2 have no real incentive to change because they have the safety net of multinational corporations to carry their dead weight. There's no changing until the higher upside in their parent companies decide to force change or until they offload the comics publishers to let then sink or swim on their own. The newer people hate the characters ajd the audience because it isn't what they wanted to do (it's not prestigious enough for their liking) and because it's just bragging rights for having culturally conquered Marvel and DC. They don't love it. They just love that they have control over it and we don't, even if it means burning it all to the ground.
@@Tyler_W damn...that's a very thorough yet relatively succinct overview of the status quo of the industry! And yeah...that totally explains why Marvel and DC won't stop trying to appeal to various demographics that are well outside of the one that contains what has always been their target audience, and then blaming the fans when those titles don't sell. Especially Marvel. And that really sucks, cuz I WAS always a Marvel guy before all of this. Having never previously been given a reason to really think about it before it started happening,I hadn't realized an obvious truth about my favorite comics (X-Men and related titles) in particular; it's an IP that is easily hijacked by the far left and used as a vehicle to further their agenda and spread their ideology. They seem to be confused about the difference between entertainment and propaganda. It's as though they don't make any distinction between the two at all,in fact.
7:09 It's not even that. It's the simple fact in the Marvel universe no one, fucking no one knew how to take a bullet out of an old woman. The plot hinges on that factor alone, and I literally threw it in the trash and immediately stomped it to the bottom of the can. No one is that fucking stupid and they fucking know it.
If you want to know what the status of the writers are. Remember when Batman had... relations with Batgirl. During a panel, one guy questioned the writer about that and why Batgirl was unnecessarily sexualized so much, just for that writer to get angry at the guy. The writer called that guy him a p**** and threatened to kick his ass. These writers are unhinged. They are not right in the head, and now all our beloved characters are in the hands of these unhinged people.
I'm pretty sure the writers don't hate Spider-man. In fact, it is the opposite problem. The big head at Marvel don't want Spider-man to seem old, so they can keep him quote "relatively" to youth, but because of that, the writers aren't allowed to let Peter grow. That why they broke his marriage. Actually, one of the biggest problems in the comic is stagnation. Characters aren't allowed to grow or can't because they reach their limits of ways for them to grow naturally. It the Simpson effect, it may start great, but that some point it become medicore if you go on to long. The movies, TV show, and games have an ending which is why their better. Comic will stay like this until they are allow to end. After all good things must come to a end.
They ruined his character with One More Day because the editor in chief at the time was going through a divorce and was in a midlife crisis, so he wanted to return Spuder-Man to his status quo from the 70s back when he was kid on the grounds that Peter as a married man is "boring" or "isn't relatable." Then because they violated such a core premise of his character, he devolved into flanderizarion of himself, and now newer editors don't like him because they resent the fact the character that keeps the lights on at Marvel Comics is a straight white Christian man, so they do whatever they can to piss off the readers, don't let good akd sincere writers follow through on their fixes to the character, and they try to make people dislike him in while trying to get everyone ti accept Miles Morales as his replacement (a character they just can't seem to do right in no small part because of what they're doing to Peter). There have been some great post-OMD stories, but for the most part, Spider-Man died with OMD. The only things worth while are bits and pieces of the Brand New Day revamp, the first half maybe of the Dan Slott run, ajd the first half or the Nick Soencer run before editorial clearly told him that he couldn't undo One More Day, forcing him to come up with some random, convoluted pivot that sucked and made no sense. Forget Venom, Green Goblin or Dr. Octopus. Marvel Comics editorial (or maybe it's even higher up executives for all we know) are Spider-Man's worst enemies. Unfortunately, they've been mismanaging X-Men and now Captain America and the Avengers ever since they went mainstream. As far as I'm concerned, with a few rare exceptions of recent greatness, the Marvel Universe died with the finale of Secret Wars in 2015 (and DC ended with Doomsday Clock in 2019). The only character Marvel has largely done well for almost his entire history is Daredevil. He's just big enough to always have a book and to always have good writers, but he's not so popular that editorial and executives are micromanging the character creatively into oblivion. Next to Spider-Man, Wolverine, (and to a lesser extent Captain America, Iron-Man, Thor, and Hulk), Daredevil is low key Marvel's vest character. He even was lucky enoigh to get what I contend is the best live action superhero show ever made.
I do agree with this, at this point I mostly read one off comics or comics with self contained stories e.g. dark ages, last hunt, the ultimate's, or life story as they almost all take peter in ways i like...
i personally recommend Spider-girl mayday parker the daughter of Peter parker and Mary jane series mostly because the Spider-girl series actually lets Peter parker and Mary jane be actual parents to there daughter who's takes up her father's mantle and honors his legacy fantastic in my opinion.

Though the current state of Spider-Man comics is bad, especially with the introduction to paul, I hated what Marvel was doing to Spidey, but I heard the new ultimate Spider-Man comics are going in the right direction let's hope it stays that way
If Marvel was a Football Team, then Spiderman is the star player who suffered an unfortunate injury (One More Day) they never quite recovered from causing them to perform at an inconsistent level & the Coach (Marvel Editorial) decides to do everything they can to make that player's fans hate them
Good news actually we are getting a new ultimate Spider-Man series that get this gives Peter Parker back his wife Mary Jane yes but also a bonus they both have there two kids mayday Parker spider girl and Richard Parker and it’s looks fantastic in my opinion.
I believe that's what's truly killing the comic movie genre right now. They keep applying the comic mindset of constantly resetting things to the cinema. & Therefore, there's no finality to anything anymore.. just pick up & start again 3 years later or drag it out for 30 phases like the MCU.
I hate that they won’t let Peter and Mary Jane be happy and married with a lot of children, and I want Peter to have a great amazing job and be financially successful and I think a few writers in the world want to give Peter that
8:09 yeah because I really think that Zeb Wells is a Raimi fan and thinks that’s the case but which it really wasn’t and to think Peter Parker has some kind of Peter Pan Syndrome.
It's not the writers but Marvel has it that Spider-Man/Peter has to have a certain status quo like he can't have a happy love life and he has to always be down on his luck with money problems.

comics really aren't that hard to get into you and many others are overthinking it. whenever comics reset back to number 1 is when new readers are supposed to jump into the series, so just start at any comics labeled number 1 or anywhere really.
For the uhhhh, "weird" comics, we at least have Spider-Man 1&2 PS4 , Spectacular Spider-Man, and the Raimi trilogy. That's Spider-Man to me. I enjoy Spider-Man. Have a good day!
I think the key is finding a particular comic that speaks to you. The Ultimate Spider-Man comics are where I’m hanging out, and I think they handled it pretty well for a long time.
Even in the latest game they try to get you to dislike Peter, ahowing how weak he is compared to Miles, how he cant balance being a hero with a personal life while Miles handles it fairly easily.
Oh it gets better. In a few tie-in issues prior to OMD, Peter contemplates quitting being Spider-Man and gets to talk to THE ONE ABOVE ALL (GOD) and shows him the good he has done being Spider-Man and later got to spend time with Aunt May in astral projection where she told him to let her go and that it was her time. Peter ignored her.
Thank you for mentioning the spider-totem garbage! Peter was just a kid that got bit by a random spider, why does it have to tie into a Cosmic Entities and Fate, Destiny bullshit? This is SPIDER-Man Not Lord of the Rings! I HATE Spider "God", i hate the inheritor nonsense. The 90s TAS Spidey was badass, he'd never work for green goblin, he'd tell the devil to eat shit and most importantly, he'll NEVER reveal his identity publicly!
My honest opinion about Spider-man 2017 is that it's not for everyone; which is fine. Peter Parker's character focuses on the nerd aspect a bit too much for people, I admit there is a weird thing about the characters where they all have something to do with Peter Parker's school. It's most likely just a cartoon for children but if you're not bothered by any of that stuff, I'd give it a watch if I were you. It's just weird because I think if i'm remembering correctly, the symbiote is a BIG thing in that story
I am not sure if there is a single Spider-Man fan who hates One More Day more than me. If there is, leave me a comment. This single story pissed me off so bad, it caused me to give up on all new Spider-Man comics going forward and I never returned. Everything that happened post One More Day is dead to me. They just casually rewrote over 20 years of canon that fan had invested their hard earned money and time into just so they could regress Peter back to being single with web shooters again. I completely agree with what you said regarding the comics having no progression. Also, I am so SICK of the writers always finding some one to keep Aunt May alive. She's been a fragile old woman for decades and has suffered numerous heart attacks and strokes. Let the old coot die in peace already!!!
Ohhh and don't forget Sins Past too is just🤮🤮. Thank god they rectonned that I hope One More Day gets rectonned for good, but knowing marvel editoral they will never.
tbf some of those storylines you mentioned aren't meant to be 'Spider-Man' stories/aren't the mainline Peter so I don't think they fit within the 'Marvel hates spider-man' thing, I agree with what you said about the mainline series tho, those ASM books are a goddamn drag to read lmfao
i think marvel ruins is maybe, just maybe, the only universe where its maybe acceptable for Peter Parker to be suffering, because that book, geezus that book
Youre def right on the money I started my Spider-Man comic journey by reading all the old school omnibuses and loving the old school stories then I started reading the modern ones and at the time they were doing the Sins Past story arc where we find out that Gwen Stacy cheated on Peter with Green Goblin and had his children which was horrible but I stuck with it but I was really loving it during Civil War and seeing Peters conflict then One more day happened and thats when my love for it fell off.
Man Batman comics are way more better than the new spider man comic,s Alfred is Dead and he is still Dead he has a son and he has character growth and not going back to square one
I agree with absolutely everything you said in this video good sir, the comics in my brutally honest opinion have not been good since 80's/90's that's where that medium peaked for me and everything else has just been a gradual decline ever since. I was also introduced to the character through the Sam Raimi Trilogy and honestly, if it wasn't for the cartoons, movies and games Spider-Man would not be as beloved and respected as he is, those mediums are the only thing that's keeping him alive at this point.
Man, I think that ever since the Spider-Verse became a thing, Spider-Man fans were worried that this might ruin the character in so many ways. Heck, some might have been worried ever since the release of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions or even since the first appearance of Madame Webb. You’re right, Spider-Man is supposed to be just a regular ordinary teenager who gets these powers out of nowhere and decides to make the best of it, to use them to help others rather than himself. The Spider-Verse did eventually lead the writers at marvel comics to throw out the notion that it was destiny that he was bitten by a radioactive spider in a lab during a field trip and we all got mixed feelings about it, but most of not just about every Spider-Man fan definitely hated and renounced the notion altogether. I might not even know a single old school Spider-Man fan who doesn’t hate the new Madame Webb movie. They don’t hate it because of terrible writing or acting. They don’t hate it because of the CGI or practical/special/visual effects or sound design or the sound effects or strange volume problems or the music score or the pop songs that date the movie. They don’t hate it because scenes flash too fast across the screen and they can’t watch it because it may cause them to have a seizure. They don’t hate it because it takes a normally secondary background character and puts them in the forefront, make them the main focus of the film. They don’t hate it because Madame Webb isn’t as interesting as the original Spider-Man (she may have a bigger role to play in the greater marvel universe than Spider-Man does, but that fact doesn’t necessarily make her interesting on its own). They hate it because it serves as evidence that Spider-Man’s origin story didn’t happen out of the blue, it happened because it was supposed to happen. Mike drop. I’m outta here.
They know full well that a very dedicated type of fan loves Pete being miserable. If it's not because it somehow makes him "relatable", it's because they like the "it is his destiny to sacrifice" deal. To be honest, both of those make me want to puke.
2:41 His whole origin story is one of tragedy that could've been avoided. Had he just listened to his uncle. That's why. Spider-Man needs to be dragged through the dirt to come out stronger. Why? Because that's how life works and that's why Spider-Man has so many fans. Even racist ones that get bad fan movies made. Many of his situations or emergencies we've all encountered one way or another. He shows us how to be better and rise to the occasion. Why? Because that's how life works. 😉 Though now. They just want to outright replace Pete. Sad.
I think that might be in another comic since the deal was in the time of civil war, and the time of him evan going to church was a while ago before that happened
**Listening to all the ways they make characters suffer** It’s not enough to just have characters get utterly defeated from time to time?! lol. Like Power Rangers is know for that, have heroes utterly defeated heroes. Not always hit in just the chest; Psycho Pink once jump kicked Cassie Chan’s left boob. The final battle between Green Goblin and Spider-Man, he pushed Peter in the chest, he hit his arm on his chest as he tried to go up, he jump kicked his chest as a finishing move, heck, when Peter tried to web Goblin and attempted to punch him, Goblin kicked his foot flat on his left nipple, lol 😆 It’s almost like physical abusing heroes is enough, they have to do a bunch of Frankisten shit to them too 😂
So uh i don’t know if you knew this but apparently back in the day writers really hated spider man and after stanley died i think they let out their anger on spidey i thinkkk? I have no idea with this case besides this, so i think the phrase is called “Take it with a grain of salt” right?

Marvel just doesn't know what they're doing with Spider-Man, and I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one who doesn't like Spider-Man's origin being his destiny, but prefers it being an accident.
Normally I disagree with you but nowadays I 100% agree with you. Marvel just dead toe because of it. Ok Ill admit when Dan Slott gave Peter a lab job or had his company for awhile. Then they just botched all of that. This is why marvel is going bankrupt again. This time their maovies aint saving either. Matvel is just ass these days
This is nothing compared to what Marvel does to Daredevil. Most women he has loved gets killed and those that doesnt get killed are driven insane by his villains so he cant be with them. His mother abandoned him when he was a god damn baby. The stories are still great though…
At least Daredevil doesn't get editorially micromanaged to death and has had almost entirely good books with rare sxception. Daredevil's easily one of Marvel's most consistently good characters. In terms of overall quality, Daredevil is what Spider-Man is supposed to be and stopped being half my lifetime ago.
@@Tyler_W That doesnt change the fact that what happens to Daredevil is much worse than Spider-man. I was not talking about if Spider-man is supposed to or deserves to be as good a book as Daredevil, which i dont even agree with. I think Daredevil is a much better character than Spider-man… I still love Spider-man though.
What about the 2017 cartoon? I liked it better than the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, but many seem divided about whether Ultimate or 2017 is the worst cartoon.
I mean yeah the modern day is bad but if You wanna start with issue or volume one go and do that with his actual first issue. If it’s cause it’s old school then yeah go read the ultimate run because almost every popular adaption heavily uses a lot from that comic
I know this is my second comment but i have more to say on this topic. Many of his examples of peter being treated like shit are all multiversal stories and not in the 616 continuity. The entire point of the multiverse is to try new and interesting things such as Spiderman made of 1 million spiders. Don’t get me wrong. You are right. Peter is treated like shit. Alot. But ur examples are not right for the topic.

They did this to the X-men too until they were so hated marvel/disney got the rights back for Penny’s on the dollar, I think they’re doing it again with spiderman but BIG SPIDEY is waayyyy to popular for that tactic to work
nothing Pete can do can stop writers from making spidey pull a Cuphead and having chats with SATAN HIMSELF, ai caramba
Cuphead?
In some bittersweet ways, because the writers hate Spider Man is what makes him relatable and lovable. The guy who goes through so much hardships and trauma and despite it all remains a great guy and helps everyone, and gets sad when he can’t save someone.
It reminds us that no matter what we go through, the choice is on us to do what’s right.
Marvel knows replacing him is a bad move so they're trying their best to make his superhero identity into a 'mantle' like the Green Lanterns.
Nah, that would imply that they were doing a good job. The spider verse is good, but these comics are not. At least the Green Lanterns aren’t the only type of Lanterns, and they have multiple good characters in their ranks.
Bro, the Batman who laughs was once refered to as "the batman who tries to hard" by Wally West
Agreed the way marvel is treating our body makes me sick and I hope some grows a pair and stops that shit and finally have peter be happy with mj
This 👆
Have you read any of the original Spider-Man comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko?
No wonder why Sony never wants to give Marvel another chance.
Even if people DO end up hating Parker, nobody's gonna accept anyone else as the face of Marvel. Not even Iron Man.
Iron man is the face of the mcu, but definitely not marvel
@@BigFatMonkey9629 precisely
What? Spectacular did do it perfect
@@soulman9018huh?
@padawengamelive2479 what?
9:14 Whyyyy?!? Did you have to say it man?!? I will never purge this image out of my head now.
16:54 honestly, I just got into reading comics like a few months ago, and I only really have Batman comics, so I wouldn’t know…
I feel like most people writing comics these days hate the entire medium. Its fans too.
I love to imagine that they are salty they don’t own spidey fully
They just hate peter for example in the recent insomniac's marvel's spider man 2 , and they turning miles into a mary sue

If Mary Jane got shot by the sniper instead of Aunt May, would Peter sacrificing his marriage to Mephisto make more sense ?
I hate that they won’t let Peter and Mary Jane be happy and married with a lot of children, and I want Peter to have a great amazing job and be financially successful and I think a few writers in the world want to give Peter that

comics really aren't that hard to get into you and many others are overthinking it. whenever comics reset back to number 1 is when new readers are supposed to jump into the series, so just start at any comics labeled number 1 or anywhere really.

The 90s TAS Spidey was badass, he'd never work for green goblin, he'd tell the devil to eat shit and most importantly, he'll NEVER reveal his identity publicly!
Technically Peter spent a few days trying to get Mary Jane back from the alternate dimension. For her itnwas a few years.

Check the new one out
You could say Marvel's been in Spider-Man's shadow. Same with DC being in Batman's shadow
From what i understand zeb doesn’t gate spiderman. He hates peter parker
Which fuck him for that
Man, I think that ever since the Spider-Verse became a thing, Spider-Man fans were worried that this might ruin the character in so many ways.
Though now. They just want to outright replace Pete. Sad.
6:54 actually pretty sure peter is Jew
I think that might be in another comic since the deal was in the time of civil war, and the time of him evan going to church was a while ago before that happened
**Listening to all the ways they make characters suffer** It’s not enough to just have characters get utterly defeated from time to time?! lol. Like Power Rangers is know for that, have heroes utterly defeated heroes. Not always hit in just the chest; Psycho Pink once jump kicked Cassie Chan’s left boob. The final battle between Green Goblin and Spider-Man, he pushed Peter in the chest, he hit his arm on his chest as he tried to go up, he jump kicked his chest as a finishing move, heck, when Peter tried to web Goblin and attempted to punch him, Goblin kicked his foot flat on his left nipple, lol 😆
It’s almost like physical abusing heroes is enough, they have to do a bunch of Frankisten shit to them too 😂

Y’all heard that barking too?
Bro skipped 2017 spidey😭
its crap
When i saw the title i was like no wonder they sold spiderman's rights
Normally I disagree with you but nowadays I 100% agree with you. Marvel just dead toe because of it. Ok Ill admit when Dan Slott gave Peter a lab job or had his company for awhile. Then they just botched all of that. This is why marvel is going bankrupt again. This time their maovies aint saving either. Matvel is just ass these days
True but not all
I genuinely think spidermans writers mistook him for deadpool.
Y’all heard that barking too? 😭
Yep.
2:06 Preach that gospel!!!
Marvel will start liking Spider-Man again the day Disney gets the rights back. So, in short, never.
Wait till you see San Slott's run
Also, 2017 Spider-Man SUCKED!!!
Yeah, modern comic Spider-Man really sucks. But, if you want good Spider-Man comics, I highly recommend stuff from the 1980s. It's probably one of my favorite eras of Spider-Man
