05:32 thank you for this!! i do need to forgive myself for suffering with so many belongings for so long. minimalism is the best thing i've discovered in so long. well done!!
Thank you so much. And it's so nice to hear your stories about your sweet rabbit Chewy, it must have been wonderful to have her around and to have all these precious memories left.
Paper and digital clutter is the hardest for me as well. I've been slowly digitizing most of our documents. It is such a slow, difficult process. Thanks for so many good tips! I agree with the layers approach as well. We've been minimizing for 2 months and I'm always shocked at how much I can get rid of with each new round. 😁👍
I'm so happy to hear that the tips are useful :) And decluttering really is a process of layers. I agree with you, every time you do another round it's amazing how much you can still find to declutter. But the layer approach is also very gentle and grows as you grow, it helped me very well. And I know, those papers and digital clutter, it's just so difficult to go through it. It's good to hear that you are digitizing most of the documents, it is a slow and difficult process but the benefits are worth it, so keep up the good job! :)
I loved that you shared very specific tips ❤ the part about making things easier while tackling harder areas makes perfect sense. I've been practicing minimalism since 2016 and its a continuous learning process. Certain areas I'm pretty content with but others need some work. I was apartment living with my boyfriend when I started this journey and now we are married and first time homeowners. Living with a non-minimalist and no longer renting makes for some adjusting.
I’m so happy to hear that you liked the specific tips! Yes, I totally agree with you, minimalism really is an ongoing learning process. And I can also relate to the areas that you mention, some areas are alright and others still doesn’t feel quite there yet. You have had quite some big changes going on during your minimalism journey :) It must be quite an adjustment to getting married with a non-minimalist and becoming first time home owners, and I can imagine that this brings up some new challenges.
Visual noise is something I only just really become aware of. The fact the taking in something visually, actually causes a reaction or feeling within me. It hit me the other day when watching some leaves blowing in the breeze and realising that I felt it as sadness. I believe there are many of us who are hsp (highly sensitive person) and we tend to feel everything. Great video. Thanks x
Thanks so much! And you explained that very beautiful, I love the example of the leaves blowing in the breeze. 💛 Also, it’s so relatable :) Yes, I also think that many of us are hsp and that visual noise plays a huge role in our lives.
Super super helpful! ive been doing minimalism for 5 years and last year, i was hung up on my decluttering mistakes but in 2020 i finally forgave myself. Great video!
So good to hear that you forgave your minimalism mistakes, it's all part of the journey and of life itself. I too struggled with it. I'm happy to hear that the video was helpful. Xx
Excellent 👌 it takes a while to declutter, it's impossible to do it in one weekend. We have to set reasonable goals and give ourselves a good deal of compassion and patience. Your bunny is such a good helper!🐇💙
Hi R.D. Whitaker, yes, it really does take a while to declutter! I also don't think that it's possible in one weekend and indeed it's important that goals should be reasonable. I think many of us here don't mind the longer process and can even enjoy the time it takes, and how every time we get a little closer to our goals. Compassion and patience is key indeed. And haha thanks, yes, my bunny loves to help! Can't say she doesn't try ;)
Thanks Sue, I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed it! :) Yes, I can imagine that it brings up some challenges when you are an extreme minimalist but your husband is not much.
We all do mistakes, but we also learn from them. I ask myself every time: Do I need this? What use am I gonna have for it? When am I gonna use it? How often? And so on. I'm not an extreme minimalist, but I find so many good advices from many that are. Thanks for a great video!
Thank you so much and also for sharing! Those are very good questions to ask yourself indeed. I also ask myself those questions :) and yes mistakes can always happen and indeed we learn form them.
@@AnjasArtWorld I believe that we do find questions and answers in ourselves eventually and of course, with following videos like yours. I am sure I will do more mistakes, no doubt about that. lol!
Great video! Thank you for the upload, I’ve been practicing minimalism for a few years now myself and there’s still much more that I’d like to do. Therefore, I like to watch videos on minimalism for inspiration. You are so pretty and you have such a sweet angelic voice. I love your accent.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words 💛 Yes, minimalism is such a journey. I just had to move myself and I was amazed about by how much stuff I still had that I did not need or want. It's such a process, but that is also what I like about it. To really reflect about things and needs. Wishing you the best with all the things you still want to do :)
me again Anja--my intention for floor sleeping is health--and of course the simplicity--i again thank you for these videos--i really appreciate them--deatra
Hi Deatra, I understand, I have the same reasons and I especially like the simplicity of it :) If you want to, let me know when you have found something that works out for you!
Thanks for sharing! Do you let Bunny roam free in your house? It looks like you have a "litter box"? I love the idea and haven't seen it ever before for a 🐰🧡
Thanks for your interest, yes my bunnies are free roam! :) And they are litterbox trained. It does take some adjustments in your home because bunnies sometimes like to chew things ;) but it's actually very doable if you bunnieproof your home and have them spayed (important for litterbox training that they don't want to mark territory). There is this TH-cam channel: "Lennon the bunny" and she shares all the information you need to know on how to free roam bunnies :)
hello anja --i go thru my things often too ,and think where did this come from--i thank you for sharing--i want to sleep on the floor too--having a hard time, trying to know what would work---take care. happy to see you again--deatra
Hi Deatra, nice to hear from you! It’s so amazing to see how much you can still find to declutter time after time, right? I have the same thing. For me my bed was old and it did not sleep good (my back hurt) so I just got rid of it and I wanted to buy a new bed and in the meantime I was sleeping on the floor. I don’t know exactly why but the floor felt better than my old bed and my back pain disappeared. So I just left it on the floor. But I have heard great stories of people using a Japanese Futon, they say that that is really comfortable. I have no experience with the Futons but just heard a lot of good things about it. I think that in the future I might try sleeping in a hammock. I Hope you can find something that works for you :)
Thank so much! I'm happy to hear that it's useful. I got the music from TH-cam Studio and the song is called: "sunshine on sand" from the band Unicorn Heads. And you have a nice day too :)
hey anja! do you have old videos or pictures of your home before you startet your extrem minimalist lifestyle? I would really like to see something like that. currently i am decluttering my home and i find it very motivating to see other peoples first steps into minimalism :) greetings form germany!
Hi LHMSQ, Thanks for letting me know and yes, that sounds like a good idea. I will try to find some pictures and maybe make a video about the journey or try to incorporate it in a video. Good luck with your minimalism journey! :)
hello anja--i forgot to ask what kind of mat do you sleep on? this is a hard one for me--thank you for your ideas and advice on this minimal journey--deatra
thank you anja-- for your advice--i wanted a futon, but i cannot air it out in this apartment--what kind of bed mat do you use? i learn much from you--thanks deatra
Oh, I understand, I have the same problem with airing out in my apartment. To be honest I still use an old Ikea mattress. It was one of the cheaper ones. I am going to move to another apartment within a couple of months and then I want to try something new as well. For now I just leave it like this and very luckily I have not had any problems with the mattress so far. I'm using a mattress protector and I wash that quite often instead of airing it out (and I use baking powder as well to clean it). I have heard that for some people it helps to use a slatted base under the mattress on the floor. I personally don't have that, but maybe it can help? I'm going to try a futon or a hammock in the future. It can be so difficult right ? To find something that works. I was just curious, do you want to sleep on the floor because of the space benefits and that's taking up less space, or because of health benefits as well? I know that it can be quite a process to find out what works with sleeping on the floor, or just finding alternatives to sleeping in a bed in general. Hope you can find something that works for you! :)
Thanks for letting me know! I will do a video about pet care in the nearby future :) I have a litterbox which luckily they use just like a cat. I don't have a crate for when I'm gone. I have tried my best to bunny-proof my home as much as possible. Especially with the wires it's very important because they like to chew on that. And sometimes they like to chew on wooden objects too and you can put tape on those objects so that they won't chew it. It's a bit more difficult than having a cat but with some adjustments I find it very doable to have them free roam :) Keeping it minimal is a bit more difficult with rabbits because they do require some stuff but I try to keep it as minimal as possible without them having to experience any sort of lack.
@@AnjasArtWorld That's so great! I had a bun growing up that was often outside his crate but our house was not safe enough to leave him out all the time. If I had my own I wouldn't crate him if I could help it. Did you teach him to use the box? Does he also poo in the box?
Another great video! Glad you decided to edit less, it sounds a lot better, even if you make a mistake here and there. I'd rather hear the real cadence of someones voice :)
Thanks, I'm so happy to hear that this was better to listen to! Also, thanks for letting me know that you rather listen to some mistakes instead of audio that is too much edited. I was thinking about it and I would personally also prefer that so it makes sense :) (good to look at it form a different perspective instead of me just being the editor and only seeing one side)
