The CEO missed an opportunity with Tara. I would've promoted her to be training manager for the entire company. She would've made sure every single restaurant is run with excellent customer service. There's a missed opportunity right there. She deserves to be more than a greeter.

@@clararobin9869 no one has to be forced to pay you for your vacation. That’s called a benefit. You work, you get paid. If you wanna sit by a pool in Ibiza and drink sangrias, why should they pay for that? You’re not clocked in and working at that point.

@@clararobin9869 Also, it seems you missed the point of the paid week they gave her. They never once mention how many weeks she gets off in her position. That week was an EXTRA week of paid vacation AND 3+ months salary. For reference, I live in the US and get 3 weeks paid. My wife gets 5 weeks paid. You should know the benefits of the job before you apply. Companies with more time off or better benefits survive. The ones with almost no time off will struggle to hire.

The fact that a CEO actually going down and learning what the hell is going on in their business is being a "novel idea for a TV show" and not the standard practice is just a fine indication of how broken most businesses actually are. Nevermind that in these episodes they go "You are an amazing employee, so here is a small token of appreciation" and not instead promoting or providing long term compensation.

Modell's had a better story than the one in this video. At one store, he was being trained by a single mother who was living in a shelter with her kids. She was so positive and encouraging, and when he got a break, he started crying. She was such a valuable employee, and he was paying her so little that she and her kids were in a shelter. At the end, he told her that it was his fault that her pay was too low. He said he wanted her family out of that shelter that day, and he gave her several thousand dollars for a nice hotel. He gave her a promotion with a fat pay raise, and he also gave her money to buy a house! She was so shocked that she sagged to the floor. The boss joined her on the floor and hugged her. That took me about 5 tissues!

I remember albuquerque was doing a soft trial of making sickdays a required benifit in an area, and the other stores raised a fuss, because it would mean people would want jobs with those 'perks' over jobs without them. The companies were so upset, saying they wouldn't be able to hire trained workers, and would lose business and employees, and money training employees.

In large companies the CEO's might not even be aware of some of the problems. Same thing happened when I was in the Army. The General would come by and ask if there is anything they can do and all our commanders were like "No sir, everything is good" so they looked good even though things needed attention. Example was our building's AC was broken for like 6 months, we kept putting in work orders to our command but nothing ever got fixed. One day a general is touring our facility and asks if there is anything he can do. Our CO started to speak saying everything was good but the general shut him down and asked the soldier directly. One of our guys said "Well sir, our AC has been broken for months and no one has fixed it yet." Our CO gave the soldier this glare but the general said he'd look into it. AC was back on before the end of the day.

The gap between floor employees and upper management right after ww2 was approx. 45%. That gap in the late 90’s was over 800%. That’s not a guess either. That’s right out of a Business Management class i took in college in the early 2000’s. My guess today is that the pay gap has at least doubled from 800%.

The best CEO/manager is one that says "Give it to me straight" and can actually take it entirely as constructive criticism. It goes nowhere when the CEO/manager is emotional, or takes it to offence. Even if the employee is incorrect, or doesn't have all the info/understanding of the situation, you let them get it off their chest, and you take it on board to fix it, or explain to them the whole situation so they understand it more. You'll have the best relationship with your employees if they can be honest with you, even if they are incorrect. I'm not saying anyone was incorrect here. I just mean sometimes people can be upset or frustrated over bad info, or letting their frustrations out on the wrong issue. If I was in a CEO position, I would want people to hit me with the reals. Does your store feel neglected like a red-haired stepchild? Tell me it in that exact way.

It also shows just how much most of corporate covers up of what's really going on with the branched-out business,
it's like the company's own CEO is out of touch of what's really going on and how things really work.

Back in the 80’s companies covered healthcare, paid vacation, raise every year, but because of government back in the 90’s allowing new laws that put in place, corporations jumped at the chance to right away.
They were, a person has to work full time in order to get health benefits, vacation(Less vacation time than was given in the 80’s.), sick days, etc.
So corporate paid out all full time employees and hired them back as part time workers with no benefits, vacation, health benefits. Some employees worked 1hr short of being full time so that they were still part time. Corporate get richer and employees go without. Times we’re living in.

But you see, ”I want to send you on a one week paid vacation” is an insult to the rest of the Industrial World countrys. Can you see the differens?

It used to be that a lot of upper management in companies had at some point worked at the bottom and climbed up somewhat. Nowadays, it's not like that at all. Everyone in upper management at every company got a college degree in business management and went straight to the top. Then they go from company to company not knowing what the hell it is that the people at the bottom even do. These happens with CEOs as well. A CEO nowadays can have zero clue about what that business he runs does. They jump from company to company. A company who is struggling with try to find a CEO who has a proven track record of turning companies around. These struggling companies will rarely try and hire someone from down under to help the company find new life.

for the same reason why employes dont bother you anymore in every grocery store asking you if you need omething or need help since 10 years because everyone told them they were just annoying, its the same reason why people dont answer you when you say hello.... its still nice tho
