All controller manufacturers should have a spec sheet to find pin-outs and settings. (Did you know some controllers have a "reverse" pin? Yep.) I worked with one controller that had a serial connection that used a GUI to manipulate controller settings. My job was to build the electrical system, with the final step being to SLOW THE VEHICLE down by 66%!!! Some EVs are just-right engineered. Some are over engineered, knowing some users want to unlock the power. Do some digging and make some calls. Know what you are doing first, or just increase your life insurance payoff.

I got the SWFT Maxx E-Moped about a month ago. So far it has been perfect for getting me to work on the overnight shift. Not many cars around at 11:45pm so less dangerous for me. I live in between hills so when I ride in either direction, a lot of power gets eaten up. I just ordered a backup battery and inverter that I can carry in my backpack to charge it on longer rides.

Generally with electric motor controllers that are restricted you can got to the controller and see if you can find either a pink or blue wire that does not connect to anything outside looping back into the controller box. some times it is just a wire. cut it. or sometimes like on conversion kits you merely unplug the loop. you go from the street legal 20 mph on the throttle to what ever the system can give.

I almost bought this one but I'm a tall guy and my knees were pressed against the steering column. It's also not the best for the second rider. I had to go with Emmo GT80 which has the space for my legs and has an incredibly comfortable seat with back support for the person in the back. But this here is a beautiful looking scooter though. I think if I were a smaller statured person - I'd definitely pick this one.

You seem to be confused as to what a moped is…that what is being unboxed is a scooter. A eScooter to be exact. A moped has pedals…that is the mo”PED”. A scooter has pegs. In the “E” world I would consider eMopeds to be nearly unpedalable and often have seats like a motor cycle. While I do agree the lines are fuzzy because back in the day, any bike with a motor was considered a moped and now ebikes are a thing…anyway, no pedals means not a moped. And that particular vehicle is a scooter ( which at one point you even called it a scooter).
    :)

Hey SWFT, so glad to see your comment! Open question: where is a 20 mph vehicle safe to use? I’m not being critical, just wondering what the target market is. I really want a scooter, because I work from home, the grocery store is only 1.5 miles away, and my friends live within a 3 mile radius. But all the cars go 35-45 mph (no matter what the speed limit says).

Looking at the hub motor this is either a Bosch hub motor which is already very cheap or an even cheaper knock-off.
Nevertheless every motorcontroller I know for these has three settings and usually there's jist no button on the vehicle to change settings. Setting one is 25km/h top speed, setting 2 is 45km/h top speed and setting 3 is 64km/h top speed. This is because of European and Chinese license laws. So of course no button to switch settings but you can switch settings. Find out which motorcontroller is inside and which channel/wire is for the settings and enjoy much more power and speed.
There's is also a controller that will give you 10kw from that engine. INSANE but fun

@Average User I have an e bike cycle emmo S or eskuta sx250 in UK with a 50kg weight and a top speed of 20mph with 48v and 20amp hour lithium newer battery too like this but I can only reach 28miles with pedal assist too so I can't see this video bike getting anyway near that range .

Is the battery on this electric moped replaceable?

  • @unchained20000000

Actually in Pennsylvania, a legal moped can only go 31 mph. The moped (or easy-rider) is legally defined as a two- or three-wheeled vehicle with engine displacement of no more than 50 cc (3.1 cu in) and maximum speed of no more than 50 km/h (31 mph).
So 20 mph isn't too far off the legal limit.

down side in the netherlands, you need a drivers licence and insurance to drive it, an ebike does not require that.

As someone who has owned lots of two wheeled things, both gas and electric, I'm not a huge fan of "fast" scooters. I'd rather have a moped (electric or gas), as in my opinion, the larger diameter tires are inherently safer and more stable. I'd be okay with this at 20 mph for zipping around in my gated community, especially at this price. Back in the 1980s we actually used small scooters to get around in the large warehouse we worked at - this would have been perfect for that.

except they make more sense? whereas road scooters are more like... just get a motorcycle instead

I remember Mopeds when they first came out - and back in those days it was a MOtorized PEDal bike. In my mind, this doesn't have pedals and so its not a MOPED, its a scooter. Over time I know words change meaning, so maybe nowadays pedals don't matter for it to be a moped - but that's the difference from my perspective. :)

@@ghz24 Most of the scooters and mopeds I've encountered do in fact have a VIN. E-bikes not so much. There are some road legal e-scooters that do have a VIN, just not many.

@@BigEpinstriping None in my state if it's a moped it has to be licensed and it can't be licensed unless it has a vin. It gets to go 30 mph but a drivers license and insurance are required. If this thing could be pedaled it would be completely legal with just a 16 year old rider.
