    Edelbrock Intake: amzn.to/44ewuM4
    Carburator: www.summitracing.com/parts/su...
    Carburator Studs: amzn.to/46tTYOH
    Heat insulator gasket: amzn.to/46qBFdf
    Torque Wrench: amzn.to/46uv1Tb
    Scraper set: amzn.to/3XCbQmz
    Gasket Maker: amzn.to/3NWYm1i
    A highly recommended upgrade for anyone with a classic that needs a bit more grunt. The Edelbrock Aluminum Intake Combined with the 4 barrel Summit M2008 Carburetor made a perfect power sandwich for the 289 sbf. Although there was a couple modifications needed it was a fairly simple installation. Thinking about using this exact set up on our #3 project.

    Ahhhh... I had that manifold when I was in high school in 1974 exactly 50 years ago this summer, on my 67 Mustang that I lost my virginity in, LOL That was a sweet engine with a 650, but honestly, it was that 500 Holley 2 barrel that I think really made that engine come alive! Fun video, thanks!

    I build a simple 289 years ago. 66 block 40 over with flattops, 477 471 crower solid lifter cam with a wide duration. Ported 66 heads with 195 chevy valves. Electronic ignition and a old offy360 intake with 600 edlebrock. Long tube header and full length 2.5 inch exaust. 64 falcon with a 5 speed. No super fast but a nasty little bird that surprised a few big block cars.

    I did this exact same modification to my 68 Mustang back in 1980 when I was in high school. Went from a two-barrel cast iron intake to a four barrel aluminum Edelbrock, with a Holly four barrel carburetor, Hedman long tube headers, Thrush turbo flow mufflers. I did it all in one weekend. Engine woke up.

    That Summit carb looks like a Holley. A tech at Holley told me about modifying a vacuum secondary carb by opening the round vacuum diaphragm and removing the ball bearing that resides in there. Geez, that thing drove like a double pumper! My 67 was already only getting 7 mpgs so I put the ball bearing back in. It was fun spinning the tires though.

      @@rookie__pilot cool I wasnt trying to be critical Angel, just asking. I have a 1961 Austin Healey 3000 here in the UK and it is exempt from seat belts due to age. I wondered if it was the same in the US for classic or historic vehicles?

      I believe there is a certain year where they are exempt! Im not sure what it is though lol

    yeah, this mod certainly won’t make this 289 very powerful. It needs much more for that.

      Obviously, but this was the customer’s budget. But it DEF improved power which was the point 👍🏻

    Edelbrock intakes have ruined more cars than any other aftermarket parts. Choke brackets hot starts accelerator linkages air cleaners fuel lines. Oil leaks. All modified and mostly hacked wanting a new intake. Keep it stock. Run perfect. Dependable. Don’t be a rookie. .

    HYPOs are internally balanced and have a dual point dist.and a specialty 635 Holley among other obvious external parts.
    I highly recommend a set of 4:33 rear gears.

      4:33’s are really good but with the c4 transmission wed be high rpm at highway speeds

    Switching to a 4bbl head is way more important .

  • @weeman782
    @weeman782 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Only thing I see wrong here is
    The heads are more likely to be 2 barrel heads not 4 barrel, and your sort of defeat the purpose, and now your dumping to much fuel for the heads

    • @rookie__pilot
      @rookie__pilot  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hmm maybe youre confusing the K code HiPo heads? A and C codes had the same heads. Maybe different compression? Not sure if youve tried this before, definitely made a difference. MPG does go down when you go bigger carb yes

      Nope I did what u did 40yrs ago, and when I got 4 barrel heads it was night and Day
      Difference, there is a difference where the valves are, doesn't matter a code c code or k code, there is 2 different heads for sb ford
      Been building them for ever,
      I have never taking off 4 barrel heads the had 2 barrel carb and intake, unless the engine was torn apart
      If u flip the heads over
      The 2 barrel is circular where the valves are and the 4 barrel has like a round point going back in toward the spark plug
      That's how you tell if it's a 4 barrel set of heads or 2 barrel heads

      My 68 stang came with 2 barrel. but I built the motor since, and modified the heads. I didn’t even know there was 2-4 bbl heads?? Wow.. are the 2bbl heads slower?? Or maybe they just come with smaller valves or something?? My 68 came with 1966 heads, I heard they were a little better, I think better compression, not sure if true or not tho, they now have 202 valves w 3angle grind, and good porting work, 2bbl heads hmm
