- This might be a change of pace from my typical video, but I wanted to test myself by doing a video on how powerful Solid Snake is. As you might have gathered from my last video, MGS is one of my favorite series' and Snake is certainly one of my favorite characters.

Metal Gear is a series of action-adventure stealth video games created by Hideo Kojima and developed and published by Konami. The first game, Metal Gear, was released in 1987 for MSX home computers. The player often takes control of a special forces operative (usually Solid Snake or Big Boss), who is assigned the task of finding the titular superweapon "Metal Gear", a bipedal walking tank with the ability to launch nuclear weapons.
Several sequels have been released for multiple consoles, which have expanded the original game's plot, adding characters opposing and supporting Snake, while there have also been a few prequels exploring the origins of Metal Gear and recurring characters. The third game in the series, Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation, marked the beginning of a whole new line of 3D for Metal Gear. As of March 2018, over 53.8 million copies of games in the franchise have been sold worldwide, with individual installments critically and commercially acclaimed and receiving several awards.
The series is credited for pioneering and popularizing stealth video games and "cinematic video games". Notable traits of the series include stealth mechanics, cinematic cutscenes, intricate storylines, offbeat and fourth wall humour, and exploration of cyberpunk, dystopian, political and philosophical themes, with references to Hollywood films to add flavor. Snake's body was closer to his 80s or 90s in MGS4. It was stated that a normal human wouldn't be able to stand in his condition.
I agree it was early to mid 80s ...he was the same age physically as big boss at the end I feel

@@GuyMaleMan Definitely not. His body shape is great because he is a super soldier, but otherwise if you look at his skin, you can tell that he is at least 80+ I personally think he is close to 90s because his skin looks very similar to someone who i used to take care of who was 94.

Basically Snake is the weakest among Snake clones in terms of DNA ,BUT what made him powerful is his concentration and and his refined skills that he have when growing up. Not the strongest but definitely the wisest
It's more consistent that all the Snake's have the same base stats, whether dominant/recessive/or "perfect". MGS4 Snake might just utterly outstat Big Boss.

@@delai86 Liquid thought that Solid took all the best from Big Boss and also thought that he was just supply of DNA to take from whether Solid was missing/lacking something BUT the truth is actually the opposite. Liquid is the Superior one and Solid was the inferior one whilst Solidus was the Perfect one. But in terms of mentality and experience in battles, Solid Snake takes the cake on that one. Other than that well, Solid>=Solidus>Liquid
So I guess the Racoon City incident would be a walk in the park for Solid Snake

Imagine Solidus there, he´s faster than Snake, more durable and his weapon can easily destroy MG Ray copies. He doesn´t like to fuck around like Snake, he would simply go ape shit and obliterate everything that moves then proceed to cut Wesker into pieces with his blade.
@@GeneFOX70 Yeah, but I was talking about his behaviour. He goes all out and doesn´t fuck around while Solid still has insane super human abilities he likes to act silent without being noticed and leaving traces. So i imagine Solid in Raccon City taking care of the zombies one by one maybe just neutralizing them not using lethal weapons and trying to find out what caused all of that mess and using grenades and missiles only when facing the bosses or major threats. I don´t think he would break a sweat until he faces Wesker or a high level threat like Nemesis while Solidus would simply obliterate all the zombies with his gun, throw some grenades with his tentacles to get rid of the hordes of zombies, use his super human strenght and speed to easily eliminate Mr X and Nemesis and would let Wesker use all of his power until he decides to with him in half. That´s how I imagine it.

Metal gear solid snake nobody beat him and nothing
I felt bad for him. You'd think they'd get along but I guess a fight us more entertaining. Funny thing is I just bead Splinter Cell 1 on the PS2 for the first time today and now I'm gonna try and beat SC2: Pandora Tomorrow on the PS2
An easy way to figure the winner in a death battle is to know what they went through, snake fight some super humans and other with supernatural powers like luck, ghostly and straight up immortality powers, snake do some anime protagonist stuff while Sam is as powerful as will trained real soldiers, Sam as best is a S rank soldier in Outer Heaven.

People think Quiet was bad ass. But then you consider that solid could back flip off missiles, take down metal gears and beat both venom and og big boss. Solid is truly the MVP of mgs. Perhaps only second too Raiden in terms of being op.

Quiet might be bad ass but she would get sniped by sniper wolf and she has no powers at all just the patience of a woman on the edge fed up with life and the only reason she couldn’t shoot snake cuz she had a crush on him (cough cough plot love bs )

Then at the final Boss Battle, CQC mode will suddenly be available because that's the only way he could beat Liquid.

in regards to the sprinting speed, that's actually not even the highest. With the mechanical arm mobility upgrade, Venom is actually faster than Usain Bolt, and in Reflex Mode, his sprinting speed is comparable to bullet fire, not as fast, but almost as fast. The best movement feat is actually at the end of the MSX games when Solid escapes Outer Heavens detonation and clears kilometers on foot before the nuke goes off.

Ok. I'm not a Metal Gear. I never played a Metal Gear game once in my childhood. But watching this video made me respect Snake and the Metal Gear universe as a whole. If there is one thing I love is there are people like you who put respect to a characters name from people who wanna bad mouth them as some fodder junkie. Thanks for the video. Death Battle really only takes info they like, sometimes outright ignoring source info becuase it doesnt 'fit'. Theyre good at entertaining, but thats about it.

I very much underestimated how strong and fast he was. I never really thought about it, i knew he was enhanced but this really puts it into perspective
Even though this video is three years old and Crisis has said he wants to remake his MGS protagonist scaling with up to date information these videos are such passionate homages to a series that has had a legendary status for so long that I love rewatching these videos for all the amazing transitional edits

Cool vid dude. I always thought tho that some of those feats of Snake were strictly for gameplay rather than his actual strength. Like Big Boss withholding a metal gear from pounding on him in PW.

It's not just gameplay, It has scripted dialogue associated with it. And that is by far not Snake's best feat.
Yeah they are strictly gameplay, the best attribute that snake has is that he's just a soldier and there's nothing superhuman about him. MGS1 is the true representation of him, the latter games went a bit far with the fantasy for gameplays sake. He was just a clone of the greatest soldier ever, though with the recessive genes but through nurturing, immense training, combat experience and sheer dedication and will power with his conviction of doing the right thing and being the only hope, he was capable of besting his superior clone who was left to be moulded by harsh nature.
Snake was just a great man, not a superhero. He was an underdog that overcame all of the obstacles that he came up against despite the odds. Thats the best thing about him and no matter what he accomplished he never saw himself as a hero, these feats just needed to be done for the good of the world and he was there, he had to do it.

The final mission of MGS4 was one of the most epic things I ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

The hand cuffs in mgs2 were hit by a stray bullet, which I am sure helped him break them. Can’t say how impressive it is because the game never shows how compromised it was.

I dont think it would be easy for batman. Considering that snake and big boss are basically super soldiers. Like the man said. Depends on what batman. Year one batman probably not. Dark knight returns batman probably not. New 52 and rebirth very likely they would. Batman in general is more trained and smarter plus has more gadgets. Id say batman more often then not would take out solid snake and big boss.

@@CRISIS_COMICS I'm saying that an undeniable comparison can be made between Big Boss and Solid because their genes are congruent (the recessive ones at least) so their abilities as a result of that by itself will be the same. I'm thinking this same building point can't be made between Solid and Vemom. I don't know too much about MGSV though, so that's why I said I could be wrong. I do however think that a comparison can be made in the sense of "Venom can't do this but Solid can do this" just not in the terms of Big Boss and Solid which would be "Venom can do this so Solid can inherently do this as well."

@@NeedlesKain Venom is just relative to Big Boss in every way, he was trained by him and was as well recognized as his equal by Big Boss himself. Venom = Big Boss and Solid is stated to be nearly identical to Big Boss in skill, potential, and physique; he then later scales above Venom. Just basic scaling.

Solid Snake is easily the greatest fictional 20th/21st century soldier, his skill and achievements are insane. Imagine making him into a cyborg like Gray Fox, Raiden or John 117. He's a flash and bone monster, he'd be a Cybernetic God.
If we ever get a metal gear solid 6, cybernetic Solid Snake would be soooo awesome.....👍😁

Snake didn't broke the cuffs out of strength in MGS2, the chain had been damaged by a stray bullet.
Damaged to what degree? They still clearly provided some resistance. And besides that is a super low end showing compared to the other lifting feats Snake scales to.
@@CRISIS_COMICS to a degree that allows an special forces operative as him to break free. Solid Snake goes the distance, yet within the realm of human capabilities. Big Boss superhuman feats such as withstanding a Metal Gear stomp are clearly in as a funny moment for the player.
@@CarlesMcQueen They are also canon seeing as they have dialogue associated with them and are acknowledged by characters in verse, there is also the Rail Gun firing with the Force of a tank turret which requires superhuman amounts of force to use, scaling to Gray Fox who can halt REX, scaling to Vamp who scales to Raiden who can halt Haven. I can go on, but the point is there are too many superhuman feats that go against the claim that Snake's just a normal human, and you need to accept that.
@@CRISIS_COMICS listen "mr-accept-that", some things are clearly meant as a joke. We're one step away of debating if Snake has to actually change a CD to keep on at Shadow Moses. Kojima himself talked about the genetic nonsense being his fault for not having proper knowledge. Same thing happened again with physics: a stomp from a MG to a human body would be like a hammer and a nail. If the body can withstand it, the person would simply get nailed into the ground. So not really trusty points of reference there. And well, there's also the pretty blatant point we're told at face value about not being about what you are but what you do with it that defines you. I'll even go ahead and say that they where trying to say something with Solid Snake having the (on Kojima's mind) "bad" genes. But hey, everybody can interpret works of fiction the way they see fitting. If that's your take and that's how you choose to enjoy it, have at.

I'm not sure if Solid Snake could handle Big Boss in his prime, he did fight him while Snake was in his own prime and Big Boss in his elder years.
Big Boss in Metal Gear 2 is his peak.
@@CRISIS_COMICS In MGS3 BB is 29 and MG2 takes place in 90s which puts BB firmly in his early to mid sixties, not his prime.
@@taliawtf6944 Someone in their 60s can never be stronger than in their 30s? The MGSV guidebook states Big Boss was at his strongest in the MSX era.
@@CRISIS_COMICS The likely hood of him being better than in his 30s is low but it's not like those two are exactly normal either. Experience wise he certainly would be better but physically speaking he would have slowed abit. But again normal is out of the window with those two.

The [OLD] part Is intriguing.
Really powerful, he can carry 100kg on weapons, another 100kg on ammo and he can heal by eating military rations.
Minor correction - The USS Missouri didn't use tomahawk missiles as these would have been disabled by the Patriot network being shut down, it used its 16" cannons as they were pre-patriot weapons and therefore able to function. They would have been significantly more powerful and have far greater armour penetration capabilities than a conventional (non nuclear) tomahawk albeit at a much reduced range.

I think that is Solid's at his peak. By the events of MG2, he has became an alcoholic and continued to be a chainsmoker. He is still physically fit but his clone body is nearing his expiration. Though his mental processing skill should always be above average human as he always "makes up" solutions at whim without problems.
The best thing ever made film, game, series, book. Nothing i mean nothing beats Metal Gear.

@@Sgt-Wolf in my opinion yes and i have viewed many trilogies read many series of books and played a lot of games and nothing beats Metal Gear Franchise its just excellent from start to finish. The details, the fusion of real world politics with fiction and also the weapons the metal Gears, the characters, the snakes n how they are all linked. I mean its just brilliant. I have played every one besides portable ops n one day i will.

The crazy thing is he isn't that powerful at all, but he's able to do everything he does. He's the recessive "inferior" walking bioweapon clone of BB with super accelerated aging and he still kicks everyone's ass and never gives up. His will is what makes him awesome. He's the only character to truly realize the Boss' will and one of the only characters to live out the rest of their days peacefully.
Revengeance Raiden who can suplex metal gears said Solid Snake is the biggest unstopable badass. I would take his word on it.

Love the video I did have a issue with how it looked like you kept cutting yourself off to play a clip of one of the games, and Some of the info you used does seem to be somewhat or lacking detail like with his running speed not adding in reflex mode or the fact that is WITH him being fully equipped with hundreds of pounds of Weapons grenades and Ammo and since you were adding in Ammos and Weapons you could only get if you end up getting if snake did certain things to aquire them yet you didnt seem to add in the fact that you didn't add in the 1 item that is more or less actually Cannon as in he mentions it in the 2nd to last final area of the game when he trains Jack with the sword. Yes im talking about ye ol Bandana of infinite Ammo that snakes points to to tell jack that he has ALL the ammo he needs.
3:34 That is a very old statement back when he was still working on MGS4 and was planning to finish the series there. With the release of Peace Walker he pretty much retconned the entirety of Portable Ops.
Big Boss never had the funds he got from the half of the philosopher's legacy in Peace Walker; he was pretty much broke...and even Miller flatout breaks the fourth wall telling you to forget about the events of San Hieronyomo.
Not to mention in Ground Zeroes special mission, the Portable Ops logo doesn't react to the UV light and Miller says "Looks like nothing special" when you try and make it react to the light.
I think it's pretty clear that Kojima's opinion on Portable ops has pretty much changed since the statement you put in your video.

@@CRISIS_COMICS Umm, no...Kojima's opinion does matter, he is the series creator...why else did you quote him in your video if his opinion doesn't matter? Sounds like a double standard to me to only quote what supports your cause and ignoring what doesn't.
Portable Ops didn't appear in MGS4, the only thing that was used was a still image from that game but non of the events are ever mentioned in any way shape or form...and again this was BEFORE Peace Walker came to be and changed everything.
MGSV and GZ mentioned all the events of Peace Walker, but no mentioning of any of the events of Portable Ops in any way shape or form.
Can you explain to me what happened to the half of the Philosipher's legacy and it's funds at the start of PW and why Big Boss is all broke without explanation?
I hope you don't give me the silly answer that "Big Boss is crazy and spent them all on cigars" (Some PO defenders used this line of reasoning, I kid you not).
The fact that Portable Ops wasn't in any of the collections while even MG1 and MG2 can be accessed through the menu of MGS3 is a clear indication that the series creator doesn't consider PO to be canon.

The logic that durability equals attack potency doesn’t hold up. The human body doesn’t work like that. If someone hits me with a hammer on my chest and i tank it, that doesn’t mean that I can punch with the force of that hammer. Newton’s 3rd law doesn’t mean durability equals attack power, especially in metal gear.
Also, Snake being city block level is absurd. If Snake’s could produce enough force to destroy a city block than he wouldn’t need gun. Moreover, every soldier that he knocked out would have city block durability. That’s a far-fetched argument.
