I remember saving up money and bought Turok: 2 despite being very underaged.
I guess the guy behind the counter just didn't care lol.
A few weeks later my mother took the game from and grounded me when she
realized how violent it was. I cried. A lot.
Played the game for the first time since then when it was released on steam.

Don't know. Way I figured it was they could have said SGI workstations, but the general public being collectively braindead, they wouldn't know what that means, so saying it's a CGI workstation means that even little 9 year old Timmy knows what it's for.
Or the narrator can't read, and can't infer that SGI being in the script multiple times would mean that it's not a typo and it is what the script says it is.
In either case, it's because people are dumb.

Turok Blvd was really more of an 'alley' than a full fledged street. It ran alongside the side of Acclaim headquarters, which took up a full city block in downtown Glencove, NY

Turok 64 is a piece of art and if not, the most immersive experience you can get on the N64 (at the same level of SW: Shadows of the Empire). It just has it all, the ambiance, the original soundtrack, wide range of enemies, sweet violence, difficulty to beat it, sick weapon's set, you name it! It was my first fps ever and I was 7 years old...it will always have it's special place.

I didn’t know Batman Forever used their studio, other than the fact Acclaim developed the game, which wasn’t great. Batman Forever was also being filmed in Glen Cove for the exterior shots of Wayne Manor, at Webb Institute, about a mile from my house. Webb was later used as Wayne Manor again in Gotham, including the interior this time. It was also the first place I worked.
I had never been to Acclaim myself, but my mom went there once and got me a Turok shirt. Occasionally she has seen wrestlers entering and exits the studio. It was a pretty interesting childhood knowing a video game company was located in your hometown.

Somehow this video has evaded my notice. I did in fact know all about Turok’s comic book origins as I had stumbled across a treasure trove of them when I was visiting my relations in upstate New York at the tender age of 7 years old in the early 80s. While the rest of my family was out doing outdoor stuff I was indulging in my dinosaur slaying fantasies.

"The team at Iguana was careful to listen to fan feedback" This is amazing that back in 1997 when the game was released on March 4th of the year I listed and the devs listening to their fans to make and improve their games even better is astonishing. Nowadays it's corporate greed, incomplete AAA titles, and money-grabbing DLC. I've become ashamed over the years because of Video Game companies doing this awful practice.

I hope that Turok returns to it's former glory some day because the first two games were absolutely amazing! Maybe Nightdive will make their own original Turok games at some point?
All I want is for this series to get the Doom 2016/Doom Eternal treatment because it has so much potential. It's got dinosaurs and even dino hybrids. Robots and cyborgs, as well as humans, aliens, and even demons! The older games also had weapons to rival that of other FPS games like Doom.
Hopefully this becomes a reality at some point, I dream of how awesome a Turok game would be in 2020 under the right hands 😔.

At the very least the first Turok was a great game in the same league with other classic fps' like Doom & Quake.
Some people probably assume it was fad on the N64, but it's not the case. The new ports of 1 & 2 are also great ways to experience them if you don't want to play the roughness that's the N64 versions.

Long before Nightdive Studios showcased the Turok remasters, it came to a shock to me when I discovered, after a full decade of knowing the game, that Turok 2 had a different ending if you successfully save all energy totems. I always unlocked the "bad" ending because of the constant use of cheats.

Well in my opinion, the height of the series was Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. The original was great but limited in many ways... the sequel (Turok 3) lost a lot of the epicness, it was extremely easy in comparison, the characters lacked weight and feel (they were kinda floaty) and the levels where too linear. The upside I guess was the checkpoints, but it was way too easy with them. Turok 2 on the other hand, while not perfect, it is a massive challenge to take on, the dismemberment felt great, I felt scared of when facing Raptors, and watching enemies fight to death by themselves was so mind blowing and fun. What was awesome among the trio was the weapons... by far among the most fun to use, creative and over the top weapons on video games.

I remember playing the four player vs multiplayer in college with some friends. My room mate and I would normally be teammates, to which I always liked shooting him with the inflator gun. Since you couldn't kill your teammate with friendly fire, it wouldn't hurt him, however his character would balloon to an absurd size, and I would laugh.

Played all the 3 Turok games on N64 as a kid and they were all fascinating to me. The grittier and darker vibe, especially of 2 and 3 when compared to other N64 titled made them super interesting, and the fast paced fps combat put even Doom to shame. It's too bad that the franchise died like that because it was way ahead of it's time back then.
