Story 5: The girl friend is lucky she only got fired, and not also arrested. It's actually against the law to pass yourself off as a lawyer. Even if she had been a lawyer, she could have been fired, lost her legal license, and been arrested for attempting to defraud OP. One more thing. Once the other party starts talking about lawyers, it's time to get your own.

Well, a legal business wouldn't dare say they are sueing someone when it's a private matter. They would confirm if they fired them or not. Just to point out, her being fired doesn't exclude her from being sued by the place for the actions. They just won't talk about it because the best advice is to say as little as you possibly can in regard to the court case.

The last story reminded me of this homeless guy who was right by a subway station when I was going to work. He always refused to take money from anyone who looked like a student saying "you need it more than me". Sweetest man. I had to get my older colleagues to give him money on my behalf.

Where I lived in Florida there was a very big and nice group of homeless guys who would meet me at my road and walk with me to my work at 5 am. A guy tried dragging me into his car one morning. Luckily I carried a big book and broke his nose.
But until I got a car one or two guys every morning walked me to work. I made sure they got the big breakfast every morning.
But these guys were not the ones you see now on corners. They often worked for man power when they needed money or if they needed a meal my boss would say well I got some work needs done I can feed ya all day and then some if you will get it done.
Mostly they jump right to it.

That last story is actually really sweet. Additionally, he's asking you to support a small business more than likely, and he knows that the benefit of the more filling food will serve him far longer than a cheap burger that's empty calories. I think not only was he brave to ask, but you were awesome to listen to his reasoning and do it, too. Yes, it was choosing, but he had a very solid reasoning. When I was homeless, I'd go to Subway before anywhere else. The food tended to keep me full longer.

As long as I can have enough self-control to not eat it all in one go, a well-filled Subway footlong is two meals, and is almost always cheaper, healthier, and more filling than two meals from other take-away/fast food outlets

They also did this with the litter of oopsie puppies we had. Free puppies attract the wrong type of people, so they set them for a low but reasonable price, like $75 or $100 or something like that, and then after vetting the family, they let them have it for free and told them to use the money toward the puppy's first vet appointment, and made a few families very happy and surprised. If the Post Office is delivering it, then if it gets delivered to the wrong address, it's too bad...unless whoever got it does the right thing. Needless to say half the staff of the store were arrested for theft. And when some of the the employees houses were searched they found a trove of stolen shoes, and computer evidence of them stealing shoes from the store selling them online (at a massive markup), then paying for the shoes as if a customer bought them. The manager was covering for the theft for a cut of the profits.

Also the mother of his ex did say 'I would rather die than to have you part of the family' She only wants him now cuz the real dad bounced, op has money and career, and wants the child to be in a complete home with a mom and dad even if the dad isnt his.

Yep some of the psychos the very moment they marry you we'll show their ugly face because They really love that term till death do we part assuming you'll never divorce them. I mean yeah the bullying made me dislike him but the very point he told her she can't do anything like you know scatter her daughter's. Ashes with her daughter's father or anything without his permission shows in essence this was his true face. The nice guy she fell for was nothing but A illusion. These types know their terrible behavior is a turn off They at least have some logic to know that this is the deal breaker To Highgate but they don't have the logic to understand that they would have to keep it hidden forever so I never get why they choose to let it All out when they marry. Don't be explanation I can gather is that they can't keep the beast hidden forever so they let it out the moment they believe they Got you. Because they assume you're the type who won't divorce them and my mother also dealt with someone like this. Sadly still married to him Not out of loyalty but the fact we're no situation to be able to divorce him. The best that could be done is separation indefinitely Or until learn the financial position to move forward? She doesn't plan to marry our date again so it's not like this affects her but I do worry because still being married to him aint even. Yet if the reverse happened you know d*** well they wouldn't Return to favor because this is selfish people who believe that they aren't selfish until they need to be selfish in a situation they believe they won't Have to care

It's also very likely would many of them especially her mother that they will have to step up and help her themselves. And they don't wanna do that their as fake as she is. And they're trying to move quick it wasn't about getting back together with him that would have been a bonus the idea is that if she was together. With him long enough for the courts to see it as him doing fatherly duties. Then he'll be hooked on child's support till the child is eighteen. What this experience taught him was that she and everyone around her are toxic terrible people and it was very good luck you might well give a toast to the asshole she left him for. If not for that dead beat he would never have known her true nature. It's stuff like this that ends up knocking the love fall out of your head and finally make you realize. This person was never an angel was never pure to begin with they're human and the vilest type of human being whatsoever A part of me finds it funny in a sad way when you look at this girl and she looks like a saint pure and innocent. But once you take the goggles off you see her for what she is. She's not different than all those other girls referring to harlots and such. But instead she's no different than them h*** she might even look worse than they are at least they're truthful unlike her who took advantage. And at that point and this includes women who have been screwed over by a****** men too are a******* in general for same sex you realize this person. Was never good to begin with you just likely gave exceptions because you didn't want the dream to die. I feel what makes many of these people cry when they get screwed over like. This is not because love lost but because they invested a lot and it makes them question. Their own ability of assessing a situat home if they weren't able to assess this person for the piece of c*** they actually were. To them I have this to say having a brother who went through this. Maybe a bit of this is your fault but then cheating on you them being Awful like this. This is not your fault you have to make peace with the fact that you made a mistake instead of crying and moping and wanting to change things instead. Improve yourself to make certainly never happen again. I have seen many people who have suffered. This got nowhere eventually and had better awareness because they did run into people who were just as bad as the one who screwed them over only this time. Because they learned their lesson they saw these people for what they were they saw the forest for the trees And not only did many of them avoid a bad fate but the other half even were able to get revenge on these people for what they were going to do. To them had they let things run its course. They got a harsh lesson of what happens with these people there is no change or regret or any of that s*** if there's regret it's. Only because their bad decision was hasty and throwing you away instead of continuing to manipulate you. Which is why he should give a toast to the dead beat a****** Because without him she wouldn't have been hasty in making a very bad decision and she very likely would have Turned against them for the o p at that time I have a question to him I told my brother when he was in this funk if she had picked you would you have accepted Her knowing that she's a cheater the fact the other guy Still wanted to be with her but wanted her to dump you and then ran away the very moment she got pregnant showed that that was just as ego he. Wanted to feel like the big man who stole another man's woman but he didn't want any of the responsibility. She was foolish enough stephen stick with someone like that. But as they say bad people attract each other and they don't like being with each other because it will always be a struggle on who will be the dominant one. Leave them to their toxicity and enjoy the fresh air and the daisies for what they are

The paternity story reminds me of the famous one about a male OP who broke off with his bitchy ex gf, then later not only had a child from another guy, but decided to come back to him and demand some support cause it’s “his” child. He knew she was instantly wrong yet she’s too stubborn to not take a paternity test cause she knew she was screwed, but his sister, and mother were both on his ass to get him to man up and take responsibility over the child that wasn’t his at all. After getting it out(I think) those two, and the ex were still on his ass and even tried to force OP into a sit down to convince him to help his asshole ex. The funny, and ‘need a slap to her face’ comment his mother told him was “I’m disappointed in you”. He went NC with them and his dad and brother also went NC, and I think the dad divorced that awful mother for how nuts she was being.

This happened many years ago but here goes. My husband and I purchased a new living room set. Our old set was fine but we had redecorated and wanted something to go with. My husband mentioned this to the folks he worked with. Free but had to be picked up. One of his coworkers said her husband's sister could use it. Fine. We arranged a time she and her boyfriend could pick it up. She, the BF and another guy showed up. It was really cold so of course we asked them in. The old set was in the garage so my husband opened the garage door so they could get it. I heard some raised voices but not what was really being said. A few minutes later my husband came back in with a face like thunder. Apparently, having seen our new furniture, this broad demanded we give that to her instead and didn't like being told no. My husband told the coworker what happened. She had been told we changed our minds about giving it to her because her boyfriend was black. The coworker said she knew that was a made up piece of crap story. And, that her SIL was a piece of work but never dreamed she would try something like that. She also said that would be the last time she would go out of her way to help the SIL.

Many years ago, I must've been 17 or 18 (currently 35), I was driving to the post office and had stopped at a red light. A guy came up to clean the windshield but saw my lunch and asked if I was gonna eat it? I said yeah, sorry bro, and I left. I was picking up a package and I couldn't shake the thought of that guy having asked for my lunch. So I stopped by a place and got two big subs (he had buddies). When I made my pick up, I circled back to that same stoplight, parked and saw him and his buddies still there. Walked and gave him the two subs. For many many years after that I didn't thought much of his reaction. I never thought much of what I did, he said he was hungry and that had been enough for me. But one day it hit me, his expression was of utter surprise and amazement, a gawk in bewilderment. He thanked me, very directly. He was very young, a kid working on the streets wiping windshields.
I hope he found a better path.

He'd be meekly asking for food for lunch. I asked him what kind of sandwich he'd like and he told me anything so I got him a basic ham (no cheese because sometimes elderly people can't deal with dairy) sandwich with lettuce and tomato on white and a bottle of water. I made a point to do that whenever I went there and saw him. He didn't even have to ask me. One time, it was pouring rain and I saw him taking shelter by an office building nearby as I walked past. I got him his usual sandwich and bottle of water and sought him in his sheltered spot to give him his lunch. Since Covid, I haven't been back to the office so I wonder sometimes how he's doing.

If he wasn’t there, they’d still get eaten. He was there and I handed him the money and a with the rest. He just took it and stared back at me with a blank face and was completely emotionless. Theft story: So now the neighbor wants OP to commit insurance fraud. And then he wonders why things cost so much? Good grief, whatever happened to telling the delivery guy he got the wrong house or just taking it next door after the delivery? The only reason this didn't happen to me a lot several years back was that I didn't order stuff online back then. At that time I lived in a house with an address of 202 W. (X) St.. My next-door neighbor's address? 202 E. (X) St.! We did get each other's mail from time to time. No biggie, we took care of it.
College fund story: OP, I'm sorry for your loss. I don't know about helping the environment, but I agree you should use that $12,500 to help someone in real life. That person is YOU. Use that money to hire a good divorce lawyer! The age difference is larger than most I've heard of, but I do know of a successful marriage with an 18 year age difference (and married over 50 years). Obviously, you've discovered your husband is not the person you thought him to be.
UPDATE: Wow, current husband controlling much? You'll be well rid of him and his daughter. I think using the money to help towards a scholarship is a great idea. Given the cost of education these days every little bit helps.

Really Fluff, you don't understand why they are chasing after OP? Because THEY don't want to pay for raising the child and (so far) they've been unable to locate the father. So they think (thought) they could get OP to do it.
Deli story: A NICE choosing beggar? Wow! That's one for the books/reddit!

"Why are you giving away free parts"
Is a legitimate question and reason to be suspicious

Ugh. That package theft stuff happens a ton sadly. I'm glad I work from home. A lot of companies now take a photo so if they deliver to the wrong building, I can usually tell where it was delivered since now I'm fairly familiar with the neighboring buildings. I haven't had thay problem with neighbors here actually keeping them, but other places I have lived that had happened.
