I am so tired of narcissistic parents using home ownership as an excuse to feel entitled to other people's stuff. My mom uses it as an excuse to open my mail.
After several years of marriage, we moved into the IL's house for a year. Our mail kept being opened, so we got a POB, and that settled that. They were offended, and LDH looked at them and said that they had kept opening our mail even after being requested to stop doing so. Huff, huff, bitch, bitch, grumble. We kept the POB until we moved out of their home. It made life MUCH easier!
@@ryurineko Did OP say they were living there rent free? Highly unlikely, but even if so, buying one's own food and having ANYONE steal it is theft. Regardless of the nature of the relationship, right? Pretty sure you'd kick up a fuss too, if everything you worked for was STOLEN by a family member.
My son has a mini fridge in his room. He has his own money, buys his own food, and I have never once even thought to raid his fridge. Because I am an adult, I buy my own groceries.
I would agree; however, it must be remembered that the whole reason he lived there was because the economy didn’t allow for him and his fiancée to get their own place. Putting a lock on the mini fridge was really the best he could do at that moment.
@@markwilson4078 However, since it's because "the economy", does that mean he doesn't pay rent to his parents? If he does pay rent then his mother is totally wrong. But if he doesn't, then should he buy extra cheese cake and sodas for his parents, as a thank you for letting him and his fiancee live there rent free, in the first place? To be honest, the mother and the son, the way they treat each others, it's worse than strangers treat one another on the street. That's so sad! Both are so selfish!
@@sebastianb.3978 Well, my character is NOT following thing blindly JUST BECAUSE everyone else does, and question things that doesn't seem right. I don't care if the mob mentality doesn't like it. So if you don't like what I said, TELL me WHAT'S WRONG with what I said. Don't try to bully me into submission to your mob mentality.
Story 5: Geez, it's scary how much abusive people aren't willing to let go of their victims. And how could OP be the A-Hole for pressing charges on two vandals? Lana deserves that punishment!
Was literally going to post something just like this. Accepting the deal is just ENABLING Lana to continue what she's doing. Therapy is needed her for sure, as part of a court order.
Story 1: Parents out there, your children are not your property. Their right to privacy, to have their own things or anything else they have a right to, shouldn't just magically disappear the moment you decide it does.
How very dare you suggest that the fruit of my loins have any rights that I do not bestow upon them. I am their creator and their master. And just like the room they are allowed to occupy, they are my property and will do as I command, when i command it. Anything that they aquire is rightfully mine and will be returned to me upon demand. I am the highest authority they will ever know, above country and even god himself, and I will not allow you to fill their heads with such foolish notions of being their own person.
My Babies know they are My Babies forever as that is how long I'll Love them. But since I Love them I do know they're not actually babies anymore. Even if they have now discovered it sucks to have to Adult. Lol They now do wish they could go back to age 10 the perfect parent child age. Sad it's not really possible. Lol so glad they still Love to come and visit their Momma and give her the hugs she misses. Loving your Babies means you Want them to grow up and become productive members of society. That will come home to visit and give you hugs.
RE: the lady using her dead Mom’s handicapped hanger….I had a coworker doing the same thing using a dead Aunts hanger. She always parked at work in a handicapped spot. This irritated me (& several others too). Months later I was told she was busted when the police saw her illegally parking. They ran the hanger numbers & saw that the person it was designated for was dead for over a year. At this point the police were writing up the ticket when the cheater returned. In the end the Police impounded the hanger & handed the large ticket to the lady. To top matters off the woman had the gall to complain about her ticket & that the Police were so mean to take away the dead Aunt’s hanger.
Story 5 - You’re absolutely right. 1. OP is NOT the A-hole for not accepting the neighbors offer. And 2. People like Lana need to learn the hard way that their actions have consequences. If OP took the offer then she’ll take it as ‘I’m free to do whatever I want because Mommy and Daddy will take care of everything for me.’ She thought it was funny to ruin her Ex’s car, let’s see if she thinks Juvenile Detention is funny.
Yep, you hit the nail right on the head! Better to teach it now, hard, than letting that carry it on. Let it carry on and Lana will find herself in the same situation as my neighbor's boyfriend ex-wife is learning now. The ex-wife thought damaging my neighbor's property, slashing tires, putting trackers (with audio recording capabilities) on vehicles, threatening messages (from both real and spoofed numbers), violating restraining orders, and many other things was totally fine because "mommy could bail her out of anything and was above the law". (And the mom has done the same of offering payment to repair/replace, therapy, etc. My neighbor foolishly accepted the offer in the past with no change to behavior) Lets just say ex-wife has been very quiet the last two months as of now because she realized that mommy cant bail her out of this problem. Something about state attorneys or whatever not letting it slide. (Not in jail yet but the court date is soon)
Morally, shouldn't take the offer. It'll teach a bad lesson. However, Legally, they should as that's the best option on the table from any party. The courts do not like it when people refuse to work with the other side and go all in on suing instead. Insurance would refuse to pay a penny because of the other person's offer either. Since that saves them money.
Remember: if someone slaps you, you can slap them back, it's self-defence. Or just call the cops, it's the better option, it is technically better to avoid violence. But still, returning the slap is cathartic.
Story 1: Guarantee his parents are going to wonder why they're low/no contact once they move out. Story 4: karen mom just won't admit she's wrong because then she'll have to actually parent her kid. Story 5: teenagers are already irrational and unhinged on a good day, spoiled ones become psycho, not shocked the older brother was just as dumb as her with parents trying to buy them out of trouble & consequences.
Story 5: 1. Press criminal charges against Lana and her brother. 2. Get a restraining order ASAP! When she inevitably violates it by entering your property again she will be guilty of criminal trespass. Call the cops again! 3. File in small claims or regular civil court for the car damage. You could also claim intentional infliction of emotional distress and may have other claims. Asking a lawyer for advice will probably be well worth the cost of an hour consultation.
Story #3 - When you turn 100 years old, in Ontario, Canada, you automatically are eligible for a disabled parking permit. Some time back I read that there were significantly more such permits in circulation that there were *living* residents over 100, so clearly someone is using them.
@@GeoEstes - It can just be a vehicle that's used to transport someone of that age, just as a disabled person doesn't need to be the one operating a vehicle that has a disabled permit on it. At that point you're being tested annually, anyway, to verify that you're still capable.
Do you think it's a situation like in Japan where you'd have a whole bunch of really old people in the records mainly because they were never reported as being deceased?
Concerning story #3, the fine for using an unauthorized/someone else's disability plackard ought to be $400 PER OFFENCE. Since "Karen"'s mommy was deceased for TWO YEARS at the time of OP's incident... Concerning story #5, I wouldn't put it past Lana to escalate such behavior until someone gets killed!
4:35 My thoughts exactly. You need a lock for your room, cause she's not gonna stop at just being a food thief. 18:22 Agreed, that's what I would've done. Had her pay for the theft or call the cops. Actually, no. I would've had assistant call the cops on the sneaky while I was showing mom the tapes. Two for one.
That first story was crazy. I am a mother of four adult children that still live with me and my husband and I wouldn't dare think to touch anything they bought with their hard earned money. I can get my own food and we all don't mind sharing either way. Asking is so much better than stealing. What kind of mother does that and makes her child feel as if they have to lock up their food in their bedroom? That's just wrong. I'm thinking the parents are getting public assistance and they are nickle and diming their kids for everything so they can get away with not working to buy their own food.
I stopped to think about Story 5. Lana’s parents did say they’d put her in therapy, but then I realised they should’ve done that long before she got to the car vandalising stage. With that in mind, I have to agree with the general verdict of Not the A-hole.
Story 5: OP is definitely NTAH. As you said, Lana needs to learn. If she's old enough to vandalize a car, she must go to Juvenile detention. Her parents need to know you can't just throw money at problems to make them disappear. She needs to learn the hard way, and Juvie is a good slap from reality.
My brother was the golden boy and my parents put him on a pedestal. The whitewashed over everything he did even when it was obvious he was running with a bad crowd and going in a very bad direction. He eventually ended up with a drug problem and on the wrong side of the law. Because of my parents coddling, mainly my mother, he had a really over-inflated ego and thought he could do whatever he wanted. Well he took that type of attitude into the real world and it didn't go so well he ended up with a rap sheet a mile long and would constantly blame about bad luck or how the world was against him, you know zero accountability. He eventually got some bad stuff and died of a fentanyl overdose. I still haven't cried. It's hard to grieve for the person who once tried to kill you. No, the murder attempt on me was not drug related. He was totally sober when he tried to kill me.
Story 3. You know what Fiat stands for don't you? Fix It Again, Tony. Last story, OP should tell Lana's parents "Oh, you WILL pay for the repairs and Lana WILL go to jail."
Story 4: bad parenting could mean a nice long stay at the iron barred hotel for the kids and mother knowing she’ll try to attack the officers for rightfully arresting her child
Lana: I once told my sons that if they were picked up by the cops, for any reason, I would not bail them out of jail. So they had better keep their nose clean. And they were squeaky clean.
Story number two. I work at an All-American style restaurant. At the end of the shift after closing duties, I get a large cup of soup. We've been doing that with the general manager's position. The kitchen men are sure says the soup is not free. I'm the only one he said that too. I just simply say okay and drop it in the trash can right in front of him. He was so pissed.
Cheesecake Story: OP needs to do 2 things... 1) Replace the doorknob on their bedroom door with an exterior locking knob (key hole facing the common hall of course) and NOT give the Parents a copy of the key... and 2) Tell their Entitled, Thieving Momster that if OP has to pay for any food they eat that the Parents bought, then Momster needs to pay for any food she eats that OP bought...Fair is Fair! She's fortunate that I'm not in OP's shoes...I may by Psychotically, Rabidly Hyper-Protective of my Friends and Family, however, if they hit me, I WILL hit back as hard as I need to to protect myself so if my Mom ever slaps me, I WILL slap her back hard enough to knock her on her ass...THEN call the Police to Press Assault Charges against her...
You forgot 3. Buy a camera and put it in his room so that the next time this happens, there's evidence. If she comes in and takes anything else from his room, show the footage to Dad at the very least and demand reimbursment. I don't know if the dad would actually pay OP back but that would be a good little test to see just how willing Dad is to keep backing the crazy horse.
Story 1: It may be the mom's house, but OP has a right to anything he bought. It's still stealing. If OP wants to protect his stuff with a fridge lock, that's the end. He bought that minifridge, so anything he puts in there is his and his alone.
That's one thing, but for handsy parents slapping or doing worse to their ADULT children, start throwing hands goddamn it, I swear it infuriates me to see OP in Story 1 to just take it in the face whilst the egg donor plays the victim.
Story 5 - OP should have the parents give the money for a replacement car... After OP presses charges on the girl & sues them for vandalism & malicious mischief... That way everybody has consequences. "You get a consequence, and you get a consequence, and you two gets one, too! "
But how do you know if the son and his fiancée are living rent free in his parents house, that's why even though how crazy his mother acted, he's still didn't bug. Do they even contribute anything? Or even doing house chores?
Story 5: OP is NTA. Lana...and her parents...need to learn that they cannot allow her to commit crimes then bail her out. Maybe doing some time in juvie will correct her attitude.
I got a kick out the story of the thieving kids. I have been a school bus driver for 26 years and for most of all those years, we have had some form of camera system. I can't count all the times there has been an issue on a school bus and had a meeting with the parents and school and presented the video footage of the misdeeds and parents scream "I don't care what your video shows, my kid didn't do that." I worry about our society when there are so many enabling parents that teach kids there are no consequences for their actions.
Yah I would have gotten her arrested for family violence. Then when she called home for bail, answer the phone and tell her you are eating some good non prison cheese cake.
1st story: OP’s mom is repulsive. Slapped OP? OP should have slapped her right back and given her a swift kick to the *ss on her way out. I will never understand why adult children put up with that kind of abuse.
cause they grew up with it, when its all you know you get used to it. i mean she slapped him in the face and he didnt even register it, its not his first rodeo
Story 1 I can relate. I live with my parents and my mom regularly steals stuff out of my room. Not just little things but expensive things like my computer. I ended up putting a camera in my bedroom and after collecting enough evidence I sued her and pressed charges. Never did get paid back though because she hasn't had a job in over 15 years and she still occasionally steals from me... even after going to jail 4 times for theft
Step 1: Get a big stick. Step 2: Keep it in the back. Step 3: Call it "the loss prevention staff'. Step 4: Let the loss prevention staff take care of theives! P.S. I live in a rural area, so Lanna may have been mistaken for a coyote. Just my .22 cents.
Last story: Nope NTA, press charges send her to juvie and sue her parents for the cost of the car, OP has both video footage of said vandalism, as well as a police report and an arrest from one of the perpetrators in the crime. It's an open and shut civil case. And Lana's father said they'll put her in therapy. Sometimes and in some cases jail is the best therapy. A month or two in juvie? Daddy's little princess is going to learn hard the world doesn't cater to her.
Story 1: OP after all that I would recommend taking a step further and locked in my room to the point she couldn't get in. Of course while looking for an apartment to rent, your mom sounds terrible.
Last story, If the parents press charges against the girl, the Judge will likely award full damages against the girls parents PLUS some punitive award as well.
In most shops in my country, they have a silent alarm right under where the cashiers are. It directly notifies cops where to go. It can be used for thieves, violent people, etc.... Anything that could be seen as an emergency. Press it and they will be there in no time. Often with no sirens or lights on as to not alert the baddy cops are outside.
Man....... it pisses me off especially with people who as that "i don't believe you" cause a person has an invisible disability. Personally I feel with my disability that it is an invisible one which pisses me off to no end.
@@TheDarkLink7 Referencing people calling you (or others) "liars" because of an invisible disability. Strangers aren't entitled to know any of your private business, and that's what annoys me. I had a brief time where half my face was paralysed because of Bell's Palsy, and just on one day several people kept obviously thinking I was merely ignoring them, rather than being unable to speak properly (if I didn't speak you couldn't tell anything was wrong). And of course I didn't know sign language lol. I even had one street performing mime clown harass me because I "wouldn't smile".
Mines not only virtually invisible, but life or death. My boss and my neighbor have both saved my life more than once. Sadly, the neighbor is moving and I'll need to find a new job and move, too. We'll see how that all goes.
Last one, mommy and daddy cannot always be there to buy that little hellion out of trouble. After she's over eighteen she then is chargeable as an adult.
Story 4: As soon as I told the two guys to leave I would have called the manager and had them call the cops just in case there was trouble from the guys or Karen. Also, a good idea would be a big board behind a locked display case with bold lettering that says "Banned from the store" with a screenshot from the security cameras along with a note that says what they did, ex: thief, violent, etc. Story 5: OP was not very smart to not do anything about the car damage. Abusers/bullies don't stop, they escalate until they are made to stop. But at least they got Lana and her brother on camera destroying the car. So let that entitled psychopath rot in jail for a bit, maybe she will get the mental health help that she obviously needs. And Lana's parents are most likely a significant part of the problem too as they let Lana get away with way too much. Or maybe Lana really is a psychopath, in which case she needs professional help and the justice system can help with that.
Last Story: Yeah, not the AH! Lana needs a major wake up call to reality that her actions will not be going unpunished. Her parents, as well as her brother, are no better either!
OP better be smart to go with the charges and not listen to those two who made their little accident. The more they cater to their precious little princess, she’ll be behind bars in the very, very near future for possible murder cause someone took the last dress she was looking at in a store.
@@poohbear4515 Right! I agree, keep the charges, sue those awful parents. Their “ sweet baby Booboo “ needs REAL punishment! I honestly hope she’s placed in a Mental Health Ward. She’s a danger to not just OP’s son, but to everybody!
it seems there's something wrong with both of the neighbors kids, 23yr.old grown man would hrlp vandalise a car for/with his sister. There mental illness running amok in that household.
There's also a part that ppl seem to miss, the parents also said they would send lana to therapy... Now call me crazy, but that seems to me she will learn actions have consequences, maybe not this severe now, but at least she will get help for her psychotic tendencies which might work. Sooo... try that first, see if it helps, if it doesn't help, then make her pay instead of her parents.... I think the parents started to realise their kids r unhinged, son is already in jail, they might want to try and make sure their daughter maybe has a chance and get better and thus stay out of jail when she's older, make her learn through therapy.... i'd say, accept that offer and maybe it works... if she has mental problems, it's always worth to try and correct that instead of immediatly going the full hard way.... Even ppl with mental problems can still learn to behave through therapy. Just my 2 cents.
@@nodakear1 No, she won't. Therapy does not curb tendencies like this because first you have to be OPEN to accept the therapy and get the right help. It takes people dropping to the bottom with the corpses and the rocks and crabs to finally realize it.
it wouldn't surprise me for the first story if the mom was like "how dare you have sex with my daughter in law it's my house so she's my property" she definitely seems that crazy
@@gorilladisco9108 The more important question is do the son and his girlfriend/fiancee pay rent to the parents? Maybe the mom acting crazy/ridisculous (and the dad secretly allow it) just to force them to move out.
Story 5. Not only is that the son's ex but also the neighbor, if they let it go they would end up with a lemon and neighbors who think they can do whatever they like and O.P will just take it.
It's so anoying how many people park in the painted lines of disabled people spots so nobody else can get their wheelchair in or out until the entitled people move
The last story. NTA in fact first and foremost *play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.* Secondly yes she is *(even though she's a minor)* acting like an adult. So let her face adult consequences.
I agree! That little b*tch would have had the cops called on her and I would have charged her with trespassing if she showed up at my house screaming and yelling at all hours. Op should have done that to begin with before the breakup.
Story 3: this reminds me of something my dad once said, don't commit more than one crime, like if you're driving with an expired tag on your car, follow every single law of the road. This is proof that he is absolutely right, because if you're arguably committing identity theft to park in legally, then you probably shouldn't attempt assault on someone so you can take their parking space.
Reminds me of a 'friend' who moved to a new neighbourhood and a get a disabled free pass for his car borrowed a disabled scooter to 'prove' he was entitled!!! What a cheep skate as he could well afford to pay for the pass!!!
@@shariys1 and she can evict him and his gf. At the end of the day, he lives in his parents' house, seems like rent free, and not just by himself but with his gf. And both don't seem to contribute anything. His mother might be crazy or she might just act that way to try to get them to move out. Because they seem like leeches. At the end of the day, if you don't like the way someone acts under their own house, move out! Simple!
Last story: honestly the parents need to keep the idiot in jail to get it in her head that is only a few years away from getting ‘hold onto soap tight prison’. But I’m going to be surprise that be back into prison again if the parents don’t teach her right.
I totally agree. Something tells me however, that Lana has done something like that before. Maybe not OP’s son, but this ain’t her first rodeo. She’s probably never been disciplined, at least not thoroughly, and the parents were hoping to get off by making a promise of therapy, (she would never attend), and a better car. Thus, no consequences for their little girl. 😜 Stick to her OP!
Psychotic Ex. Story: OP was wise to refuse the offered Deal... Lana is a Psychotic, Hyper-Possessive Stalker and she WILL get FAR worse until she's finally help fully accountable for her actions... In OP's place, I'd have done everything in my power to make sure Lana was Charges as an Adult and faced SERIOUS Consequences for her actions as well as paying to fully repair Bryce's car (new tires, new door handles and a complete striping of all body panels, fixing the scratches she made and repainting of the car...if the body shop can't get the paint, glue etc. off the windows and trim, she pays for replacements... If she can't afford it, then I Sue her Parents for the money because they tried to protect her from her actions and thus made themselves Accessories to her Crimes...
Browsing the comments, seems like it's just me: Story 3, COMPLETELY lost about those "parallel parking" spots, like huh? Every place I've been, parking lots have been 100% parking lot spots, slots next to slots. I can't picture what these parallel spots would be like, how they would fit in. Also, that they're next to the sidewalk? Every parking lot I've seen, right next to the sidewalk is where people drive, seemingly so people can make drop-offs and pickups like this OP did. I'm confused how parking the wrong way would interfere with handicapped people using other spaces properly? What _I'VE_ seen is handicapped spots that were extra wide, like accounting for 1.5 or 2 normal spaces, to offer space for wheelchairs, ramps, etc. (Too bad it's of no use to me, my wheelchair goes in the trunk). Story 4: I HATE "or I'll call the police". Don't warn, just do it. And how many warnings do they get? At most it should be one and done. They are guilty, call the police immediately. How often is it that things escalate and it's like "Wish I had called the police already"? It's not like they're bordering on an offence, being aggressive or something, they out-and-out COMMITTED a crime! They are already guilty! They should be processed by police! The only reason not to call when it happened is because they already left, it was too late to catch them, now they're found! They're caught! Drop the hammer! Should have called the police as soon as they exited but didn't leave the property, so they'd already be on their way when Karen was yelling! And yeah, once the mom was shown, she should have been on the hook for the $30... Last story: No a-hole, though their offer sounds good... Still, add some actual punishment to Lana as consequences, just that a new car sounds appropriate, and therapy sounds more than, that it's necessary. If they want to save her from legal consequences, they need to offer up some DAMN severe replacement punishment, like wow!
8:17 Loudspeaker in store: “Will the customer with (blah, blah) and license plate (blah, blah) so that we can educate you on the correct way to park in the perpendicular disability parking spot?”
Story 4: I talked to a mom whose kid was banned from their closest gas station for theft. The mom's response? "It's embarrassing!" She didn't need to see any tape to believe it... that's the part that had me facepalming.
My daughters bike was stolen and I caught the kid with her bike. I took it back directly from him and followed him home in my car. Called the police. While waiting for them the kids mom comes out telling me her boys “find bikes all the time and take them to the fire station to get them reunited with their owners all the time”. The fire station is next door to them. Turns out the kid already had a rap sheet…. He got found guilty. Never let kids off on a crime. The earlier they learn mommy can’t lie to get them out of it the better.
My in-laws both had disability placards, and the only time I ever used them was when I was driving them around. Even during the worst of my cancer treatments, I never parked in a handicap spot for myself.
Some boutique chain stores have a policy of not confronting or even acknowledging shoplifters, because they see it as being just the cost of doing business and that the risk of a confrontation is worse than that of the theft. A friend of mine was _fired_ for stopping a shoplifter, after the kid's mother came in an accused him of harassment..
Story 2: As someone who works retail, I can personally vouch that not all cards being declined are due to Insufficient Funds. My telling you your card was declined is not necessarily telling you that you're broke. Half the time, we don't even see *why* it's declined (my system says either declined or cancelled by customer). Could be for a number of reasons: typo on entering the PIN, hit a spending limit, suspected fraud, expired, hit a wrong button altogether (also known as User Error, and I could go on about that one...likely the problem in this story), pulled the card out too soon if it's a chip reader, and more things that I haven't experienced that others probably have. The reason for why the card was declined is NEVER an excuse to get upset with staff or yell at them. I am so sorry OP, that was a bastard of a couple :/
Case where the girl trashed the car, if she was out front laughing you should have that on camera take that to the DA and tell him you want every charge possible & you want the judge and the jury to see that video of her laughing don't back down
Years ago, Chicago did a month-long sweep checking the driver's parking placards and found 5,000 that were being used by family members and others whose disabled people had died.
My husband and father both passed away last year. They both had disability placards. Had to go to the DMV to put hubby's car in my name and took the placards with me. They didn't know what to do with them. They're still in my purse. And as tempting as it is to use them, I don't. For both of them, I would drop them off before parking in the handicapped spot. Thankfully, no one ever gave me a problem.
for the last story, I would be pressing charges on both vandals, AND suing for the cost of a new car. Make the parents hurt financially since that seems to be their language. I think I would also be making sure EVERY family in the neighbourhood knew about Lana and her abusive nature.
Last story: Other than the obvious of Lana needing to learn consequences, there is absolutely no way I would trust the parents to keep their end of the bargain. I'm sure the purchase of a new vehicle would be delayed as long as possible, and them they would try to foist a cheaper model on OP claiming it is "better." And putting Lana in therapy? There would be nothing stopping her quitting after 2 sessions...how would OP verify that she is going continuously? No, it's much better and more appropriate to let the restitution be handled by the courts, not the OP.
I worked the night shift at 7-11,1984-1989. At the time 7-11 kept their cigarette cartons in a clear cube in front where customers could grab their own cartons. One night I had a guy grab 4 cartons and run out the door. He ran around the side of the store. I called the cops. About 45 minutes later, Officer Eyer showed up to take the report of the theft. As I was describing the thief, the guy walked in and past Eyer to the arcade games we had. I just said, "That's him". He got him and found out he lived in the apartment building behind the store. Eyer went and got the cigarettes and took the guy to jail. Eyer told me the guy didn't think I would recognize him if he went back.
Last story, I’m not sure all the proceedings, if it would go to court or just have Lana hauled off, but I would let it go to the last moment possible, then say I reconsider her parents offer. Let her see that there are very real consequences, then give her mercy. Hopefully it would work like the “Scared straight” idea, where seeing a glimpse of what the criminal justice system can mean is enough to keep her from doing it again
Story 5, NTA. 1. The parents are bad parents if they don't put her on therapy, whether or not she faces legal repercussions. 2. Both kids were involved, so I wouldn't trust the parents to be able to change them for the better.
Story 3: People bullying others, accusing others of unethical, immoral and illegal behavior that they (the accusers) are actually guilty of, all with no shame, no remorse, just more lies? Oh, whoever could be a role model for such behavior?
Story 3. Walmarts in my area don't see people park like that in disable parking, but only those without permits occasionally. Story 5: I'll tell them they can buy the new car to save on the lawsuit but I'm still pressing charges.
Story 1: Unless he is renting the room I would say he shouldn't put a lock on the door. It is his parent's house after all and I have the same situation. Though anything he buys and puts in his room is his regardless if it is under his parent's house.
Title story: The assistant should have instructed the clerk to call the police while he and the mom were in the office watching the tape. Then when the crap hits the fan and she realizes she's done goofed, hopefully a cop car has showed up to be the icing on that "karma is a bitch" cake.
Cup of soup story: And that is just one of the reasons I don't like ordering from kiosks. If something goes wrong while ordering, it may not tell you that it did or what it was. At least a person taking an order CAN tell you if it didn't go thru and possibly why. Walmart parking story: Yeah, I've noticed that at times too, where people park incorrectly in the parallel disabled parking. But I will also say that there often is not enough disabled parking either. Teenage thieves story: Fluff, I have to agree with you. While the manager was showing Karen the tape, I would have been calling the police and asking them to hurry before the thieves left. But I think I would have tried to get the plate number off Karen's car just in case. Damaged car story: NTA! At 17 Lana needs to learn there are consequences to her actions. At this point she is a minor and her record will be sealed when she turns 18. But while her parents need to get her into therapy, she still needs the consequences even if they are short term.
I used to work at Panera myself and, boy, there are never a shortage of rude, entitled assholes there. Probably the foremost story I remember though was a woman who threw a literal foot-stomping temper tantrum over being charged $1 for adding avocado to her salad. Screamed at everyone claiming that she'd never, ever been charged before and refused to accept anything we had to say. Finally the manager came out, took out his wallet, handed her a dollar and told her to get the hell out of our store.
The Karen with her deceased mother's Disability Pass should have been charged with tryiing to use it to access parking for persons with disabilities. Her complaint shows thatthis was her intent , so she had the mens rea to do so. It hardly should matter that she was unsuccessful, for she tried. Where I live, 'attempted robbery or murder' remains as a charge even if unsuccessful. I think that any 'attempted fraud' warrants a charge of 'attempted fraud'.
Son with crazy ex-girlfriend: Hopefully the son learns that Lana is the rule, not the exception. And yes, you read that right - girls like her are more common than not. She’ll be okay, though - OnlyFans is always looking for more “talent.”
I have my late (she passed in February) wifes placard. I would not use it unless I truly needed to. I did use it a few times after getting out of the hospital due to COVID-19 but only because I had no energy at all. It was still a bear to walk in to the electric carts. But I would never be a karen.
I can't believe either of those first 2 stories. 1 - everyone just ignores that OP's mother SLAPPED her? 2 - customer charges back into the kitchen screaming and it takes manager that long to notice?
The moment that stupid mom hit op for "steeling" is the moment i would have whiped out my phone and called the cops for assult her "THIS IS MY HOUSE" would NEVER fly with me
And then you get arrested for assault because she turns on the water works, lies to police, dad backs her up, kicks you out. Congrats, criminal record + homeless

@akirarose3947 lmfao when did I ever say get over it? I said deal with it while searching, then gtfo. They and their significant other are both working full time jobs. It's possible to find a cheap apartment to move into.
Last story.... As Lana is a minor and her parents are responsible for her actions, I'd sue them for the value of damages AND have Lana and her brother prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Not to mention get a restraining order against the entire family so that if they even look at my property they could charged once again

I am so tired of narcissistic parents using home ownership as an excuse to feel entitled to other people's stuff. My mom uses it as an excuse to open my mail.
Thata a crime here in the states
After several years of marriage, we moved into the IL's house for a year. Our mail kept being opened, so we got a POB, and that settled that. They were offended, and LDH looked at them and said that they had kept opening our mail even after being requested to stop doing so. Huff, huff, bitch, bitch, grumble. We kept the POB until we moved out of their home. It made life MUCH easier!
if they're living there, rent free, with their fiancé.. you're damn right their house, their rules, basically housing 2 infants
im certain theyre psyched you moved out, grats on being independent.
First story.... Put a LOCK on that minifridge! 🤨
OP really needs to move out ASAP!

Story 1: Parents out there, your children are not your property. Their right to privacy, to have their own things or anything else they have a right to, shouldn't just magically disappear the moment you decide it does.
Wow, if only people understood this very simple and good idea.
How very dare you suggest that the fruit of my loins have any rights that I do not bestow upon them. I am their creator and their master. And just like the room they are allowed to occupy, they are my property and will do as I command, when i command it.
If OP took the offer then she’ll take it as ‘I’m free to do whatever I want because Mommy and Daddy will take care of everything for me.’
She thought it was funny to ruin her Ex’s car, let’s see if she thinks Juvenile Detention is funny.
My neighbor foolishly accepted the offer in the past with no change to behavior)
Lets just say ex-wife has been very quiet the last two months as of now because she realized that mommy cant bail her out of this problem.
When my mother and brother died we did not go and cancel their old parking permits. They last 5 years in Alberta. But we don't use them.
I'm slightly alarmed that 100-yr-olds are driving....
@@GeoEstes - It can just be a vehicle that's used to transport someone of that age, just as a disabled person doesn't need to be the one operating a vehicle that has a disabled permit on it. At that point you're being tested annually, anyway, to verify that you're still capable.
@@morallyambiguousnet Oh, okay. Thanks for the info.
I’m thinking any mother who would slap their grown child in the face for any reason shows her character…and it’s horrible
I stopped to think about Story 5.
Lana’s parents did say they’d put her in therapy,
but then I realised they should’ve done that long before she got to the car vandalising stage.
Found on road dead
Bust out another thousand
Everyone has one.
1) Replace the doorknob on their bedroom door with an exterior locking knob (key hole facing the common hall of course) and NOT give the Parents a copy of the key...
and
2) Tell their Entitled, Thieving Momster that if OP has to pay for any food they eat that the Parents bought, then Momster needs to pay for any food she eats that OP bought...Fair is Fair!
If OP us paying rent, they have tenants' rights and the monster can get in trouble with the law.
Story 1: OP, time to move, even if it is just to a studio apartment, big enough for only you and your fiancee
Sounds like fiancée needs to find some work too? Or something with better hours = better pay. If possible. Times are tough.
And keep the address Top Secret.
But how do you know if the son and his fiancée are living rent free in his parents house, that's why even though how crazy his mother acted, he's still didn't bug.
Do they even contribute anything? Or even doing house chores?
Imagine marrying a dude who lives with his mom who hits him jfc
Thieving sons? Lock them up!
Story 3: call the police. They'll be ticketed.
Not just lock em up they need disapline
And call the school. I'm sure their Principals and track coach wpuld LOVE to hear about it.
Yah I would have gotten her arrested for family violence. Then when she called home for bail, answer the phone and tell her you are eating some good non prison cheese cake.
First story: I would call that of "if is in my house is mine" against a judge on small claims court for petty thief.
If he touched her he would have been arrested or worse.
I hope he has a punishment ready for his egg donor. Like leaving it in hospice, or better, the streets.
"You haven't seen the last of me!" Is such a cartoon villain line
Replace "big stick" with "1911" and it's perfect
In rural Australia its common to keep a "youby" in the car, as in "youby fucked when I hit you with it"
.22 magnum? Hollow point? Full Metal Jacket?
Last story: Nope NTA, press charges send her to juvie and sue her parents for the cost of the car, OP has both video footage of said vandalism, as well as a police report and an arrest from one of the perpetrators in the crime. It's an open and shut civil case. And Lana's father said they'll put her in therapy. Sometimes and in some cases jail is the best therapy. A month or two in juvie? Daddy's little princess is going to learn hard the world doesn't cater to her.
"He gets an even nicer car."
"What guarantee do I get, that that car won`t be trashed?"

On the story about the cheesecake and the CRAZY mother, thank goodness I had great parents, good luck op.

Honestly with the first story, the mother is lucky that her son didnt go to the cops for domestic violence
Story 1: Oh, everything in the house is yours? Do you fit in my clothes, because wouldn’t that include clothing?
Last story: I’d accept the replacement car ONLY if Lana and her brother pay for it themselves. Not with money from their parents.
Story 5. Not only is that the son's ex but also the neighbor, if they let it go they would end up with a lemon and neighbors who think they can do whatever they like and O.P will just take it.
Final story....
Its kinda funny how so often.... the people worriedabout their partner cheating, are the ones who cheat.
It's so anoying how many people park in the painted lines of disabled people spots so nobody else can get their wheelchair in or out until the entitled people move

I totally agree. Something tells me however, that Lana has done something like that before. Maybe not OP’s son, but this ain’t her first rodeo.
They don't make announcements in Walmarts anymore. Walkies now.
🤬🤬🤬
Hell NO!
Story about disabled parking...
I absolutely would have REKT her as soon as she said "PROVE IT"! Talking about lady being BLIND!!
🤬🤬🤬
My in-laws both had disability placards, and the only time I ever used them was when I was driving them around. Even during the worst of my cancer treatments, I never parked in a handicap spot for myself.
Some boutique chain stores have a policy of not confronting or even acknowledging shoplifters, because they see it as being just the cost of doing business and that the risk of a confrontation is worse than that of the theft. A friend of mine was _fired_ for stopping a shoplifter, after the kid's mother came in an accused him of harassment..
6:27 Gee, I didn’t know a tap on the shoulder is actually hitting someone. 🙄
Oh, Lordy. If my mother had video evidence of me stealing from the neighborhood gas station? The police WOULD be called! To save me!
Using someone else's permit especially someone who has passed away is a felony in my state.
Case where the girl trashed the car, if she was out front laughing you should have that on camera take that to the DA and tell him you want every charge possible & you want the judge and the jury to see that video of her laughing don't back down
Story 4: What's that Karen? You want to be banned from the store too? Gotcha!
Years ago, Chicago did a month-long sweep checking the driver's parking placards and found 5,000 that were being used by family members and others whose disabled people had died.
Saw a story about this at the superbowl too.
Last story: DO. NOT. COMPROMISE.
Story 3. Walmarts in my area don't see people park like that in disable parking, but only those without permits occasionally.
Story 5: I'll tell them they can buy the new car to save on the lawsuit but I'm still pressing charges.
Story 1: Mother or not, if I get slapped I'm returning it three times over, in addition to filing assault charges.
Story 1: Unless he is renting the room I would say he shouldn't put a lock on the door. It is his parent's house after all and I have the same situation. Though anything he buys and puts in his room is his regardless if it is under his parent's house.
Story 3: Stupidity is not a disability, as much as she might have hoped.
Last story - I’d cover Lana in glitter, feathers and paint to see if she likes it ! Give her a taste of her own medicine !
The lady in story 3 is Marjorie Taylor Green levels of crazy.
I have my late (she passed in February) wifes placard. I would not use it unless I truly needed to. I did use it a few times after getting out of the hospital due to COVID-19 but only because I had no energy at all. It was still a bear to walk in to the electric carts. But I would never be a karen.
I think that would be acceptable
I always have a problem keeping my mouth shut but I carry a firearm everywhere and do not have a issue using it.
@@sasukedemon888888888 better then living in that abusive witchs grasp
@akirarose3947 having a violent crime on your criminal record is absolutely not lmao.
Just suck it up, deal with it, and actively search for somewhere else to live on your own.
@@sasukedemon888888888 some dont exactly have the luxury to just leave if you want to justify it how about people who have the money and ability to help take 10 cents worth of compassion and USE IT!!!!! INSTEAD OF GIVING USELESS "JUST GET OVER IT" PLATATUDES!!!!!
@akirarose3947 lmfao when did I ever say get over it? I said deal with it while searching, then gtfo.
They and their significant other are both working full time jobs. It's possible to find a cheap apartment to move into.
story 3: blocking access to disabled parking spaces, in the u.s., you can call the police.
Last story.... As Lana is a minor and her parents are responsible for her actions, I'd sue them for the value of damages AND have Lana and her brother prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Not to mention get a restraining order against the entire family so that if they even look at my property they could charged once again
Story3: Nah I get LIVID when people bring up my obesity because it is caused by A mixture of diseases (AKA Hypothyroidism and sleep apnea) So every time someone sees me eating ANYTHING it's "Was your first not enough?" Anywho I relate to Story 3 to some extent and will throw hands.
