    The vomit story:
That was vandalism (probably felony for the value of the damage), assault, and depending on the jurisdiction special charges for deliberately spreading a biohazzard. OP had a receipt with a signature and probably had her information from the card, and also had at least something on one of the security cameras. The cops absolutely could do something but thought it was unimportant and were being lazy. OP’s manager refused to back them up and pursue the matter, and probably violated company policy on biohazzard clean up by ordering OP to clean it up. So she absolutely deserved getting stuck with that shit.

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 2 ปีที่แล้ว +79

I agree completely. The cops failed in their duty and the manager failed in theirs, then tried to pass the clean-up to the employee. I would have walked off the job, also. Fuck that. No job is worth that, especially not one that likely pays barely more than minimum wage.

Depending on the specific state and value of the property damage, violation of vandalism laws is either a misdemeanor or felony offense. Penalties typically include fines, imprisonment in county jail, or both. In addition, a person convicted of vandalism is frequently ordered to wash, repair or replace the damaged property (known as "restitution"), and/or participate in programs to clean up graffiti and other forms of vandalism.

If any of the vomit even came close to OP, it's assault. The cops were pitiful, but we have learned that they have no actual responsibility to defend the public, and are just fine with not doing squat for the people who pay them.

If a inmate at a correctional facility "willingly uses body fluids" to assault another inmate or CO, it can be upwards of A felony for a "BIOHAZARD" AND AN ASSAULT. AND IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD, IF YOU SPIT IN SOMEONE'S FACE, IT ALSO CARRIES AN ASSAULT CHARGE. SO THOSE POLICE BASICALLY SAW VOMIT AND JUST WENT "NOPE NOPE NOPE" OUT OF THE SITUATION, KNOWING THAT IF ARRESTED, THEY WOULD PROBABLY HAVE A PUKING WOMAN INSIDE THEIR CAR.
AND THE MANAGER NOT DOING A DAMN THING...
AND TELLING OP TO JUST "CLEAN IT UP"... UMM HOW ABOUT HELL NO!. THE MANAGER SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED CORPORATE AND ARRANGED A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING COMPANY WHO DEAL WITH BIOHAZARD SPILLS TO COME AND SANITIZE THE WHOLE DAMN STORE. AND THEN PRESSED CHARGES AND SENT THE CLEANING BILL TO THAT DISGUSTING WOMAN. BUT JUST BASICALLY DOING F ALL ABOUT IT AND TRYING TO MAKE OP CLEAN IT UP?
GET EFFED. IM GLAD OP TOLD THEM TO RUB IT ON THEIR CHEST AND QUIT!!

Fun fact, technically employees need special training to clean up vomit because of potential spread of infectious diseases (at least in the US). The managers are supposed to have a written procedure in place and have the employees trained on it, which includes cordoning off at least 10ft from the edge of all the vomit to keep customers away, and plenty of PPE to handle the vomit safely without getting infected with something like Norovirus. The manager who ordered the employee to just clean it up sounds like a jerk. Most of that merchandise is damaged if any of it wasn't covered or had cardboard packaging, so that woman should have been found and charged with vandalism or smth, bc she did what she did intentionally with malicious intent to destroy property and merchandise.

Another neighbor has been here even longer. Crazy Lady moved herein the 1990s. She said I needed to move out! I live in a small town and I have a next door neighbor who runs a bed and breakfast. She uses that fact to attempt to try to tell everyone else in the neighborhood what to do. My favorite is when she called the police on new neighbors across the street from her because they (gasp) had an rv parked in their driveway where everybody could see it. The police told her there was nothing they could do and she screamed that the neighbor needed to move the rv out of sight because she owned a business.

We used to own a house in a different town, and our next-door neighbor on one side was a one-man HOA. He bitched about EVERYTHING! He kept calling the cops on a single mom across the street because she let her kid draw with chalk on the sidewalk in front of her house or because she let the kid stay up late (preschooler and she worked evening shift at her job). He’d call the cops on the neighbor on his other side for not shoveling THEIR sidewalk the second a snowstorm stopped, or because they didn’t clear out a “decent” space for his car to pull into or out of when shoveling out their own spaces. He even complained about how the leaves from our maple tree blew into his backyard and demanded that we cut OUR tree down (like it was OUR fault the wind blows from the west!), and when that didn’t work he would rake up the leaves from our tree and dump them back on our side of the fence. (I would thank him and even asked if he could dump them further down so they’d land in my vegetable garden and save me the mulching trouble!).
But the showdown came when we had our dog in his run 15 minutes past his kids’ bedtime because we had to respond to a fire call 10 minutes before that (we were both volunteers at the time) and threatened to call the Humane Society because of our “noisy” dog. That did it. We bided our time and waited until the next week my husband had duty shift at the firehouse (he was cleared to drive a number of the vehicles), then he brought the utility truck home every night hoping we’d get a call. Sure enough, one night we got a call at about 2:30 in the morning, so we had to respond to the station with lights…and the SIREN!
We didn’t hear a peep out of this idiot for over a month afterwards, and it was SWEET!

I really despise people who harass others for 'fake disabilities.' Quite frankly, not all disabilities, even mobility related, are visible. Many elders have difficulties walking. Younger people who have illnesses such as epilepsy do not look like they have a disability. I saw a story once about a young woman in her early 20's who had a severe condition that caused her legs to go out with little to no warning. She was the recipient of a specially trained large service dog. The dog was trained to be able to support part of her weight and walk with her, until she could get to a safe place to sit down. But people would see them and think they're faking because they can put their wheelchair in their car and drive. What others don't see is how a simple trip to the doctors completely wipes them out for days afterwards.
People need to mind their f*cking business. A lot of physically disabled people can do normal things, but take so long to recover afterwards. If your neighbour whom is on disability is out repairing their fence every day? That's probably ALL they're doing those days.

I have the opposite problem. I am only 5'1" and about 100 lbs and even though I am in my 30's people often assume that I am a teen. I can walk a short distance with a mobility aid, or stand for a short time if I have something to use for support, but primarily I use my wheelchair for mobility, so when shopping I would frequently use a motorized cart. I can not tell you how many times I have been harassed because I dared to use a cart because "those are not toys and kids like you should leave those for people who need them."
The last incident was so bad that I ended up in hospital concussed, with a fractured patella, a sprained wrist, and they were worried that I had torn a rotator cuff but could not be certain until the swelling was reduced (fortunately not torn). The entitled, wild heffalump got some new jewellery and a free ride out of it all because she and her daughter could not comprehend that young people can be disabled (they ended up with a plea deal because pandemic). After that I decided that I would never use another motorized cart. It just is not worth the harassment. Now if there are no van accessible disabled bays my mother will park the van in front of the store to allow me to get out with my wheelchair.
Why can people not mind their own damn business?

Either you have someone driving into the parking without the placard or someone that DOES have a valid placard, but someone decides in their own mind that the driver isn't disabled. I'm glad that I've never seen either happen, because would you seriously spend hundreds of unnecessary dollars over a parking spot?

I’ve been confronted twice by Karens. I own the car and the placard but one Karen decided that my car couldn’t be parked in a handicap spot because my brother was driving and I was in the passenger seat. She didn’t even stop her tirade when I got my walker. She threatened to call the cops and I told her to do it.

I was my late Mom's carer the last couple years of her life. She had a handicapped placard, which we'd use when I took her shopping. I never used it just for myself. Luckily we never ran afoul of the "handicapped police".
That IT guy making the fake notice could possibly be charged for fraud. OP should have looked into that.

When I was working security I confronted people without placards, one time I even made a family park in the handicap parking because the elderly grandfather was with them and he definitely wasn't making the walk to the door by himself, I got yelled at by my bosses for that but the guy had oxygen and a wheelchair, so I made the decision to have them park there. Long story short turned out the old guy was related to the owner and my bosses got yelled at by their boss for me getting into trouble.

We accidently parked in a disabled spot once and got a ticket. Someone called anonymously and reported us. I mean, fair enough. But we got it thrown out because the spot wasn't properly marked so we had no idea it was disabled parking. The crazy thing is, I am actually disabled. I just don't have a placard as I can still walk pretty well and don't feel the need to park in the disabled spots.

I keep one in my truck if I have to drive my mom somewhere. The only time I've technically used it myself was for the V. A.'s valet parking when I went to spring her after she had knee surgery. I didn't need them going in, but I wasn't making her walk down to the regular parking. Luckily I've never had issues.

I have never been wealthy. But at one point in my professional career, I flew enough (usually short commuter airlines) to gain access to the first class lounges. They were wonderful! Free food, free alcohol, free internet (which was faster than in the terminal), business suites to take virtual meetings. Some of the larger lounges even had full service restaurants, showers, and sleeping quarters. But, like I said, I was never rich. I just traveled enough. On multiple occasions, I had people try to follow me into the lounge when I was buzzed in. Sometimes they even claimed they were my guest. You can't get past the reception desk without checking in. All I would have to do is cock my head sideways at the host, and they had seen this way too often to even bother asking if they were with me.

Story 4: once had a guy who spent 5 minutes holding up the line instead of paying so he could brag about how expensive his car is and how he just paid for it with cash. The t-shirt he was buying came up for $9.99 and he started complaining about how overpriced it is and leaves without paying. Expensive cars do not equal respect, admiration or jealousy from others, no matter how much drivers of expensive cars seem to think it would, it just makes them look stupid.

Used to work at Walmart. I saw all sorts of disgusting things, but the worst was when I worked in the health and beauty aids department. It was a distressingly common sight to find a package of feminine hygiene products ripped open and one missing, and a used product sitting on the shelf. If you're gonna steal a pad or tampon, okay, but at least go the bathroom to switch it out and don't display the used one like a trophy.

She made sure to cut us, all his old friends, out of his life. But before that happened I remember one birthday of the son. I thought long and hard about a gift and had three criteria; 1) the boy would really enjoy it, 2) my friend would really enjoy it, 3) the mother would absolutely hate it. I got him a chemistry set guaranteed to make lots of stink.

Similar story to building Karen. Office Karen. 20+ years ago I was hired to be a receptionist at a construction company because the woman they hired was promoted up to a admin asst. She was a temp to perm hire so they could have gotten rid of her sooner but she made it look like she was a great fit. A few weeks into my job she starts bossing me around (not my boss supervisor nothing) . First she tries to tell me what I can wear and what i can listen to on my desk radio. I ask my real boss who quickly says ignore her. Then she places for sale ads in the paper with the front desk number and starts doing her side business at work. The boss boss isn't happy but can't get the owner to sign off on firing her. Then she decides she's the boss of everyone and sends a memo to every employee saying she's in charge now and stating her new rules. I.E. no one go into the file cabinets, dress code, no music allowed in work sites and trucks, nonsense like that. She gives a copy to the owner who once he reads it wads it up and throws it on the floor and in a fit of pure rage then storms into the boss boss' office. Hour later I'm pulled in and asked if I'd like her job and not to say anything. She was promptly fired Friday.

Funny how in almost every building, no matter how large or small, there is that one person who thinks they rule the world. They call meetings and "propose" rules and "suggest" assignments ... The one we had, once most of everyone began ignoring them and nobody went to the meetings anymore, took on this strategy of "collecting signatures against". AGAINST. Like, he came up with something and if he couldn't collect any signatures AGAINST, it meant we all agreed. Unfortunately, some people who live here have long shifts or nightshifts and you don't want to F with someone after a night shift with BS like that.

Wow, Platinum Card woman just thought she was SO IMPORTANT and refused to listen to anyone. If I was the manager, I would have kicked her out of the story for refusing to show her ID, considering it appeared to be store and/or company policy.
Even if apartment Karen HAD owned the building, she would soon loose it as no one would rent under those terms. Many people work jobs that keep them out late, such as first responders, hospital and long term care staff, and those that work in late night or all night stores, restaurants, and bars. Likewise, the inspections must have advanced notice, usually of at least 24 hours notice. That being said, a landlord cannot require the tenant to be there, as most people cannot get random days off with little to no notice. Well, let me rephrase, Legally, the might be able to, but it'd be bloody hard to enforce, due to the aforementioned reasons. Additionally, even if a no pets rule was to be added, pets that were there prior to the new rule would be allowed under the so-called Grandfather Clause. Likewise, with regard to pets, not all animals in a home are simply pets. Many nowadays are service animals or emotional support animals. These animals fall under special laws (in many places, though apart from the U.S. I do not know specifics) that prohibit anti-pet measures being lobbied against the people who have these types of special animals. Additionally, rules cannot be made up and a note just left on the door. Legally, for any new rules to be enforced, they would have to be mailed or emailed to the tenant as an addendum with a specific advanced date given. In turn, this addendum must be signed and returned to the landlord or management company. All in all, anyone with even the most basic knowledge of tenant/housing rights laws would be able to see this for the scam it is and simply tell the lady to get lost, like OP did.

My children & I were in the parking lot of a bicycle store in Wilmette, Illinois and there was a super car parked there, I think it was a Ferrari but it has been a long time. We all watched British Top Gear so we had learned something about super cars. We are just circling the car and ticking off stats, talking about the engine, the color, everything and saying that we were surprised how small the car actually was and that my husband wouldn’t be able fit in the driver seat (6’2”). Some guy is watching us kind of smile/laughing them says something like he’s 6’4” and then gets in and drives away. That car was a thing of beauty but a Bugatti is perfection.
